Had a great time in this traditional pub, Paul and Hannah made us feel very welcome. We really enjoyed the food. They are currently decorating for Halloween, the place looks great.

Great atmosphere and friendly staff, food is very well presented and tastes as good as it looks. And Paul is a good laugh too

I have a good time whenever I go into black dog never had a negative experience and always love to come in whenever Hannah’s working because even when I see that she’s tired from having a busy day it still doesn’t stop her from smiling and bringing good vibes and exceptional customer service

I visited for the first time in a couple of years, since the change of workforce I can say it has improved loads. The atmosphere is fab, the staff are great, always taking notice of customers and very quick to serve, lovely and courteous and attentive. Good music and entertainment.

Welcomed with a smile. Quickly and efficiently served our drinks in clean glasses. The food is unreal, many options to choose from and very reasonably priced. Warm, comfortable atmosphere and family's are welcome. Great adult atmosphere in the evenings. Highly recommend and will most definitely be returning.

Brilliant value for money Sunday Lunch. Reasonably priced, generous portions and a good variety of veg. It came out to us quickly, but was cooked well, and tasted great!

Really wonderful good value food, the beef burger is particularly delicious. The staff are lovely and very accommodating, good vibes.

To start with the food was horrible, the chips and sausages were not nice also. There is hardly ever any toilet paper in the women’s toilets and there never clean, the toilet seat in the disabled hasn’t got an attached seat for disabled people. For a kid friendly pub The beer garden has glass everywhere, so clearly doesn’t get swept properly.

Visited the Black Dog, had an amazing server, think her name was Courtney. Really helpful, and the most genuine server I have met in a while.

We called in while passing through Grantham, hoping to have a snack lunch. It looked very dark and unwelcoming, with loud football on screens whichever way you looked, and an even louder family group with screeching children sitting not far away. While my sister-in-law ordered drinks, I went to the ladies'. The first cubicle had a very loose seat and no toilet paper. Tried the second one; same two problems. Tried the third and last cubicle; same two problems, and in addition, not only was there no paper, but no holder to put it in! Thank heaven for handbag tissues ... The drinks were fine (hence the two stars) but we decided not to eat there, and left after our drinks. The whole place looked grubby and uncared-for. We ended up having soup in Asda.

Abi was a very nice bartender when serving me and my family, she wasn't rude or anything, very polite and got all of our drinks right.

Took a chance on the £12.95 8oz rump steak... absolutely beautiful, really soft and full of flavour. My husband enjoyed the Cowboy burger, and our son had a sausage, mash, and beans from the kids menu. All meals were big portions. Family friendly atmosphere, and very friendly staff. Thank you.

Nice little pub. Good food and service from Evie, lovely staff member. She was helpfull, chatty and polite. Nice to see pool table too.

Dj is a good lad with great music, karaoke is always the best, one of the best bars in town, bar staff is lovely and very polite. Overall, great atmosphere to be around.

What a wonderful outing I had at the Black Dog (no pun intended). Affordable prices, lovely staff, especially that Harry Clements he served me in quick fashion and my pint was beautifully poured: thank you very much Harry! Would recommend highly, will be coming back very soon!

Very friendly, smiling barmaid. Handpulled cask beers were Tetley's Original Cask and Brakspear's Gravity. The latter was rather lively, but was a delicious drop. Lovely old beamed ceiling. Fruit machines. Was difficult to find a couple of square metres without a TV screen, so if you like football and a pint, then this is the hostelry for you.

This pub has a real warm feeling to it, the staff are so nice and our food was amazing, the burgers are to die for! If your in the area give it a go.

We had lunch with friends today, A mixed grill and a steak was all very nice portion size was enormous, but best of all was the friendly staff, just fabulous all round and we will be going back soon 3113

Had the lasagna my husband had steak and friends had mix grill and steak aswell. The food was amazing 🤩 the lasagna was creamy and beautifully cooked. No burnt bits or anything 😍😍 100000000% go and have food

Went for a family meal and black dog the only place in town that do a Sunday dinner was very tasty and the food size was amazing !

Really nice place, lots of options on the drinks and the new food menu is so much better than the old Marstons ones, everything is home cooked! Is great now the old landlord Chris has taken the pub back over again long term. The Dog has definitely got its direction back now, which is lovely to see. We will definitely be back more often now, thanks for a lovely meal.❤️

Popped in to Grantham today and dropped into The Black Dog for lunch with my daughter. I had burger and fries which were fab, plate was cleared as I wasn't going to be wasting a scrap of it! Daughter who is pretty fussy had hunters chicken (minus the cheese which she doesn't like) and chips, she thoroughly enjoyed it and ate the lot, which makes a massive change for her lol Will definitely be returning next time we are in Grantham 😁👍

We came here for food to try the new menu, I have to say it’s lovely. I had the mixed grill which is huge!!!!! Everyone else had burgers, all the food came in good time and was delicious! Really nice to see the pub so busy again, keep it up guys.💪💪

I can't vouch for the food I only drank here but the drinks, service and atmosphere was 100%

We ordered bangers and mash with large Yorkshire pudding and gravy. Sounded fine we thought. After paying for our order we were informed that they were out of Yorkshire puddings so there would be a wait for fresh ones to be cooked. What we eventually got was bangers and mash with gelatinous gravy that was thicker than thick custard and two small piles of stuff each - ‘Yorkshire pudding’ - that were small, raw in the middle and inedible. According to the barman that served our meal it was cooked by someone who had ‘never cooked Yorkshires from scratch before’. I would rather have been told that there were no puddings, or perhaps that the ‘chef’ would just have to nip to Lidl to buy some rather than be presented with that stuff. Not even a starving macaque monkey would have been attracted to the Yorkshire puddings that we were presented with!! We declined the two complementary Cokes offered - too little too late. We will not be back

Me my daughter granddaughter and friend visited last week to try the new food menu which was all homemade meals i had lasagne and my daughter and friend both had the burgers the portions were great and the food was really good the manager and bar staff are very friendly and welcoming can't wait to try more food from the menu

We had been recommended this pub by a friend, having come down to the area for anniversary treat, we rang the pub to book ahead after looking online at the delicious menu. HOWEVER on ringing was met with very curt response..”we don’t do food anymore” but your website says.. “well wedon’t anymore” and was hung up on. Didn’t even bother calling for a drink after that

Food was lovely, disappointed by the facilities, which needed restocking with toilet roll in the ladies and the gents were in such a state, my husband chose not to use them. However, the dog received a warm welcome and bowl of water was offered and provided quickly

A nice welcoming pub, lovely food at a good price

Asked to remove something from my meal, gave it to me with what I didn’t want on it. I said I didn’t want it and they took it back, scraped it off the top and gave it back. I could have had a severe allergy, that’s not acceptable for overpriced mac and cheese. Inside is dark and dingy in the middle of the day and cutlery, dishes and cups were dirty and grimy.

Lack of real ale on tap to start. Ordered one starter and two mains. The starter came with the mains. The prawn cocktail was poor and my husband asked for no butter on the bread but got no bread at all. The roast turkey dinner was swimming in gravy - why not put the gravy in a jug for the person to pour on themselves? The roast potatoes were deep fried ? The steak was tough and uncooked. It was rear when we asked for medium. No steak knife either. The salad was poor The place was empty and it is proper down to the poor external and poor food Not waste your money - avoid at all cost

Huge sandwich board outside advertising food served all day i arrived at 5.30 after paying for parking to be told that they had stopped serving. Absolute joke and false advertising.

We love this place! Myself, my partner and our friend regularly visit here on a Saturday afternoon when we visit Grantham, sometimes we have food and we cannot complain one bit especially as they let our mate have an extra portion of mash, thank you for putting up with us, we are very greatful.
