I love Black Cat Cafe! Friendly service, great Americano and great breakfast options with reasonable prices compared to other places. Avocado toast with poached eggs and hollandaise sauce was very tasty and filling too.

Came in sat down 2 walk ins got served right in front of me while me and my wife were waiting for staff literally three feet from the counter totally blanked me no service no interaction from the staff I'll never know if your food is any good. So just got up and walked out.

Great to see this place is still kicking 15 years later. Still remember them fondly

We stopped by for breakfast at the Black Cat Cafe and ordered the Eggs Benedict with avocado. The breakfast was OK for the price. An egg on both plates was overdone, but it was very filling and overall pleasant. The cafe could do with some minor improvements. It's looking a bit tired and the torn chairs didn't create a good impression. Serrated knives to cut through the sourdough toast would have been helpful too. The cappuccinos were delicious though. And the lady serving us was super friendly and welcoming!

This is my favourite place in Cambridge. The staff are so nice and welcoming, the food is really good, always hits the spot, and the general vibe is nice.

I often treat myself to brunch here midweek and usually have either scrambled eggs or eggs Benedict. I can't think of anywhere better in Cambridge. It's just a shame (though unsurprisingly) that it gets so busy at weekends.

In love with this place! The staff are so welcoming and helpful with what to choose. The food is so delicious yet affordable! I paid for a huge portion of a salmon egg benedict just around £10, where in other places that would cost me more than £15. I couldn't recommend this place enough!

Amazing breakfast. ALWAYS tasty. Big plate, delicious hot food, great sausages, awesome scrambled eggs and the only place I can eat fried mushrooms in because they are actually properly cooked and super tasty. This place should be 5 stars.

Part of a group of six we stop here for breakfast at the start of a weekend in Cambridge and what a start to the weekend. The food was lovely and the atmosphere in the cafe was welcoming. Our breakfasts here set a benchmark for the weekend. Would recommend

Had cheese toastie and bacon and cheese toastie, both really good. Salad garnish is a nice touch. The pot of tea was good as well. Enjoyable all round.

Lovely little cafe situated on busy Mill Road in Cambridge. Food is cooked perfect excellent breakfasts and sandwiches. Coffee is nice and cakes look delicious will have one next time. Few seats outside on the street which is nice watching the world go by. Will be visiting again soon.

A lovely breakfast with excellent coffee and real freshly-squeezed orange juice. My wife said the porridge was superb but the highlight for me, and the reason I was moved to write a rare TripAdvisor review, was the best eggs benedict I have ever had the pleasure to eat. Wonderful!

Long wait for food. When ordering and paying for food we were told it was a 30 minute wait as the kitchen was busy. We waited for 55 minutes in total for our food with no explanation. At the 45 minute mark I approached the counter and I was told that we were next to be served. But in fact a customer who came in after us received their food before us. Not really sure what was going on in the kitchen. When the food eventually arrived it was delicious. No complaints on quality of food. Only poor service! Unfortunately, I will think twice about coming again.

I’m very fond of this place. I don’t think the coffee is great but it has a lovely vibe. It’s somewhere I always drifted back to over my five years in Cambridge.

Vrey overpriced, cakes are bland, the cafe offers nothing different than anywhere else, coffee is nothing special and the staff are very hit and miss to the point that you may get asked to leave if twinkletoes Karen is having a bad day

Lovely breakfasts. Coffee is nice and a very good serving size. Staff are always helpful and friendly. It is a comfortable place to sit with nice decor. Has wifi so it is a great place to sit and work, although obviously they can't let you sit too long because it can get busy in there.

I am not wealthy so I could barely afford their excellent service beautiful warm smiles wonderful clientele. I gave only a 5p tip, however for the love of goodness, I wish and pray I could give them everything!

Great food and really nice polite staff, slightly expensive but it is Cambridge and the food itself was of very high quality. Definitely what we needed after a night out

Not Dog Friendly I really like this cafe but they won't let me in with my dog. He's a gentle and unobtrusive Labrador. I can't give it 4 stars or more because of this but will change my review if they have a change of policy. All the favourite cafes in Cambridge allow dogs (Hot Numbers, Relevant, Bould Brother's, Scotts All Day, Even Carlos on Mill Road welcomes dogs :)). Things have moved and it's quite an old fashioned policy not allowing dogs these days, especially in Cambridge.

I really liked the breakfast there and the salmon sandwich. Good place if you want to relax with a nice cup of coffee or tea :)

Very good quality food at a very fair price. Sadly I bought carrot cake before they realised it had gone off, and I had to switch to lemon drizzle. Their card machine is a little temperamental but there are cash machines nearby so it's not a big deal.

Honestly one of the worst customer experiences I've ever had. Staff extremely unfriendly, made me feel like I was hassling them right from ordering through to when i double-checked that I'd paid them for everything after a long till mix-up. Turns out that my take-away breakfast, that I'd asked to be vegetarian multiple times, was actually just a standard meat breakfast, with bacon and everything. All I could eat was the separate beans and toast (1 slice). Overpriced to begin with, but especially when I ended up paying almost 10£ for beans and toast. Would have immediately gone back to complain but was so embarrassed after everything. So extremely disappointed, I'd avoid at all costs. Plenty of lovely cafes nearby, go to those.

Wow! Great brunches! Doesn't look as swanky as some other places on the mill road but don't let that fool you, whether you are after avo and eggs on toast (perfectly balanced with chilli jam) or a full English with thick peppery sausages, you won't be disappointed! Plus, the prices are godd value most, many brunch options about 7-9 pounds with massive portions

Ordered two iced lattes to go (one with almond milk) but I unfortunately felt like we weren’t given the time of day despite paying near on 7 GBP for both; a little dear, I feel. Our waitperson was quite disengaged, nattering to another staff member whilst making our drinks and had to twice ask what we had ordered due to forgetting (oh, and tell me they have no oat milk – surely this has to be a given for coffee shops these days?). To that end, because no customer attention was afforded and prices are fractionally too steep, I can’t award higher than a couple of stars.

Great place for a post lockdown breakfast. Good range of breakfasts and friendly service.

First breakfast here post lock down and it was great. Tables setup so only every other was in use and felt secure given the situation. Service was excellent as always. Will be going back to support our local businesses.

A veces este lugar es ejemplar y la comida es fresca y de muy buena calidad con un buen servicio, pero solo cuando no están ocupados. Es el servicio que sufre cuando hay más de unas pocas mesas ocupadas. El tiempo más largo que he esperado para que me sirvan el desayuno un sábado por la mañana es más de una hora. Parece tener el personal pero no es muy eficiente y no funciona bien. Lo mejor es ir un día de la semana en menos tiempo ocupado para experimentar este lugar en su mejor momento.

With so many cafès on Mill Road I was disappointed they couldn't even do a decent espresso lungo.

Completely disgusting, as per usual. A must MISS for anyone visiting Cambridge. The "boss" (if you can even call him that) is completely clueless, treats his staff appallingly and has no culinary skills whatsoever. Hopefully he's switched his romantic target demographic to women who are closer to his age, or above 18- at the very least.

We booked breakfast for 15 of us following a night out in Cambridge. Service was excellent and pretty quick considering the size of the group for a small cafe. Food was superb. Black Cat Breakfast, Eggs Benedict etc all individually ordered and all done really well. Would thoroughly recommend letting the Black Cat cross your path

Can’t understand why their reviews for here are not even better. Love going here for breakfast. Maybe it is best for people looking for a healthy (delicious) vegetarian breakfast!

Calm atmosphere - decoration very muted not overwhelming but casual. Clear blackboard for ordering simplicity. Really huge breakfast succulent sausages were a particular highlight and also the excellently brewed coffee. Staff friendly yet unobtrusive - please go even just for a coffee well worth a trip "over the bridge". No sign of an actual 'black cat" but perhaps next time....

Some great, healthy breakfast food on offer at a decent price. However -- extremely noisy with the blenders and other machines running. DO NOT sit anywhere near to the counter unless you enjoy having your ears bleed.

Desayuné aquí recientemente y, en general, fue una visita poco inspiradora. Huevos revueltos y tocino están en el menú para 7. 50 Le pregunté si podía pedirlo con huevos escalfados y un café. La señora que servía dijo que estaba bien, pero que sería más barato pedir el gran desayuno a las 9. 30 ya que incluía todo y una bebida. Sin embargo, no quería toda la comida extra, ¡así que extrañamente terminé pagando 1 extra por mi pedido!Cuando llegó mi comida, había tanta agua en el plato de los huevos que saturé una servilleta entera trapeándola. Esto se había extendido al brindis haciéndolo bastante empapado. La camarera se dio cuenta de que hacía esto y se disculpó bastante débilmente, pero no intentó reemplazarlo ni ofrecer un descuento.¡No volveré para otro desayuno caro y empapado!

Nice cafe good food and drinks. Go there. It’s nice but if you ate googling ‘is there a cafe in Cambridge that has cats in it?’ This is the first one that comes up. Don’t be disappointed. There are no cats, it isn’t a cat cafe, sort your stress out elsewhere. Nice coffee, friendly staff but you can’t stroke them

Mill road has a number of good coffee spots and black cat is one of them. While there is stuff competition, they hold their own and their pastries are delicious.

Me and my friend were visiting for the night and wanted a good breakfast. We stumbled across this cafe and it was absolutely delicious. I had the salmon eggs Benedict, and my friend had the avocado eggs Benedict. I can’t recommend enough. The coffee was strong and good, and the staff super friendly.. we left wishing we lived closer to make this a regular spot!

Overall very good and I've become a regular. The food options are great and reasonably priced. The only thing that could improve is the coffee - it's good but feels diluted sometimes. Still I'm going to give 5 stars!
