Very cosy pub under new management with a new chef, the food was incredible, very high quality and filling, the vibes of the pub are extremely welcoming, nicely decorated and good pricing too, perfectly situated at the top of the high street next to the church, you won’t go wrong stopping in here for food or drink!

One of my friends and I visited this lovely, proper pub for lunch yesterday and it was lovely. The young bar man was super efficient, knowledgeable, friendly and professional. The food was delicious, Pinot Grigio was good and it was all reasonably priced too. Lovely atmosphere, warm, cosy and plenty of tables and nice eating areas. The wonderful bar man even cane running after us with my friends glasses as she had forgotten them. Bless him. Cannot fault this lovely pub and would highly recommend to everyone.

This pub was slow in more than one way. My friends and I waited over an hour for our food to arrive and when it did we were thoroughly disappointed with both the over cooked lump that we were told was a burger and the shocking service with snappy attitudes and dirty looks shooting our way throughout the entire meal. The Brontë sisters would be disappointed.

Visited twice in a period of 2 years and it was awful every time. Grumpy stuff mumble something, not able to understand. It was 3 pm and for some strange reason people couldn’t order food. When finally was allowed to order, been told they run out of burgers. This place has so much potential due to Branwell legend but it’s just sad miserable place. Go down road, so much better hospitality.

Bit disappointed, if I'm honest - thought I'd treat myself to lunch here, as it's my birthday & was hoping to catch up with a friend along the way - ordered roast lamb. (surprised there didn't seem to be any options except Sun roasts but probably would have ordered anyway) When it came it was already covered in gravy - I'd have expected this to be in a jug with meal, it's hardly something you can just leave to one side, & I don't always opt for gravy or at least not as much - don't think info on menu to that effect, but was hungry & not too big a deal, so didn't make a fuss. Meal seemed to be cooked & seasoned well enough, but amount you got was a bit underwhelming, especially for the price. (about £17) eg, the veg seemed to consist of about a quarter carrott & a small amount of greens - I did wonder if it came ready covered in gravy to make it look more. I didn't bother with a dessert but may well have done if I'd had a better experience. To her credit, the waitress did ask me how it was, so I was honest - staff, overall, though didn't seem overly friendly. Being a focal point in Haworth, I would have expected the Black Bull to do much better than this, especially with the high price tag - they do a fuller roast at the Toby carvery in Keighley for a lot less, & allow you to choose your own accompliments! x

This was a first class stay at an historical public house, lots of atmosphere and unexplainable experiences. I would recommend the Black Bull to anyone. The pub its self if really nice and the staff are great, however the hoard of clearly underage chavs drinking pints and screaming at customers did somewhat ruin my pint. We went to the black bull about 4 weeks ago for our lunch and decided to book Christmas dinner for 3 of us on Christmas Day at a cost of £80 each.and was offered a table in a good spot. When we arrived on Christmas Day we were offered a different table to the one we had booked so therefore didn’t feel comfortable but didn’t complain as the pub was full and the staff were very busy. When the food came the starter wasn’t too bad but when then the main course came it wasn’t very warm the veg were very dry I think they had been roasted and the turkey was in the form of a rolled joint with seasoning in the middle (rather like one of Bernard Mathews joints) I did eat my meal because I was conscious of what was paid but my other family members couldn’t eat there’s they said it was disgusting. We expected a proper Christmas dinner with real slices of turkey and traditionally cooked veg. We were so looking forward to our meal only to be greatly disappointed with what we received for £240 and will not be going here again. We felt like we were squeezed in as an extra and vastly overcharged for what we received. Should have gone to brewers fryer instead would have been much cheaper for a better quality meal.

Nestled under Haworth's splendid church in the "Bronte Quarter", and less than 2 minute's walk from Bronte Parsonage Museum, The Black Bull on Main Street benefits from strong custom. The Inn features a traditionally stocked bar, and good menu choices to suit pockets. For those who negotiate Haworth's vertiginous High Street, the Black Bull's appeal as a place for respite for the short of breath is obvious. Buyer beware though - Branwell Bronte found succour at the Black Bull, and his favourite chair and reportedly Branwell's ghost are still there to enjoy - or not!

I wish I'd read the other reviews first because the food is horrendous. I had the butter milk chicken burger, which came undercooked and soggy, stone cold chips and a 'side salad' was shredded lettuce, my partner had a halloumi burger which wasn't much better- decided not to finish in fear of food poisoning. Complete waste of money, and spoilt an otherwise great day in Howarth. Such a shame as it's a beautiful pub with lots of history, but I guess they rely on that to get people in and have a big enough tourist flow to not bother listening to feedback. Giving it two stars as the beer was alright and the lady who served seemed friendly. I'd suggest popping in for a pint if you're a Brönte/Haunted pub completest but definitely swerve the overpriced food!

We maybe got an off night - it was very quiet and looked lovely on the outside. Staff were friendly but the food was not good. The lasagna came cold, though it was taken to be replaced and came back hot. Even then, it was dry but at least had plenty meat. The garlic bread was inedible, had no actual garlic, seemed like just garlic salt and powder cheese. The burger was better but a really small portion for the price. At £15 each the meals were disappointing. The beer was standard but the wine was clearly old. Not sure I'd recommend based on our experience - judging by other reviews there might be things on the menu that are better, but we wouldn't go back to find out.

On entering the Black Bull the decor, range of beers and ambience will lead you to believe that you've stumbled upon one of Howarth's finest, however, when the food arrives this will all change, in fact, such was my disappointment in the quality of food that I actually felt more like someone was trying to commit a crime against me, my visit was at lunch time and I opted for the Braised Beef priced at around £13 with chips an additional £3 if you wanted them, the menu suggested what I was about to receive was rich braised beef, pipping hot served moist within homemade brown bread, instead what I got was cold dry beef in 2 slices of shop bought brown bread that had been grilled on a dirty griddle. Clearly I sent it back (in fact our whole table sent the food back) The Black Bull could be a gem and new kitchen team and owners who put quality at the heart of everything they do and it will be great, until then avoid at all costs for food!!

My wife and I decided to have a trip up to West Yorkshire and stay in the lovely and historic village of Haworth. As we were strolling down the main street, we felt very hungry and thirsty and decided to pop in for a pint and some food. What an appalling mistake we made. Hardly any beer, no monetary change in any form, so we had to use a card and to top it off, the food was horrendous. We ordered the "home made" pies. NOT home made at all. My wife makes home made pies all the time for various functions, and these had the tell tale signs of supermarket bought pies as the pastry had the indents from an aluminium pie tin. At £12.95, you are being thoroughly exploited. Don't be fooled. As we looked around, the food on other people's tables looked equally awful, including the clearly sad, clearly frozen, not home made children's nuggets etc. The very friendly and very pretty Australian woman inquired how our food was and we didn't have the heart to tell her, (as she was running around trying to serve everyone not only in the restaurant but also the bar), that our "home made" pies were indeed horrible. In all honesty, we did eat most of it as we were by that stage starving, but really, at £12.95, the landlords should be ashamed. After lunch and a pleasant stroll, we did indeed come back to The Black Bull as it was on our way back to our cottage, for an evening drink, only to walk into a very noisy argument between the landlords. The Australian lass was clearly worried and embarrassed and apologised at length to not only us but also to the other patrons who decided to walk out., not wanting to be part of such childishness. A local man at the bar explained to my wife and I that this sort of thing happens all the time between the landlord and landlady. In short, there are far, far better and more inviting pubs, cafes and restaurants in Haworth, all of which I'm sure will have actual homemade food and a pleasant atmosphere. The only good thing about our visit to The Black Bull was the friendly Australian, who we both agreed, is much too good to be in a place like The Black Bull. You are spoiled for eating choices in Haworth. Don't waste your precious time or precious money in this sad establishment.

Well I’ve just been forced to pay a £170 parking fine following a drink at the Black Bull in November 2018. I was on holiday with my husband and parent in laws and we popped in for a drink. We didn’t realise that you had to tell the bar staff that you had parked in the car park, they never asked and we paid cash. Two weeks later I received a £60 fine. No worries I thought I’ll phone the landlady who will understand, I also had photo’s with times and dates showing we were in the pub. She wasn’t interested and told me to appeal it, which I did. The appeal was rejected but I never received the letter from ZZPS and so received a £170 fine 2 weeks ago. I have spoken to the parking ombudsman but because I didn’t appeal within 28 days of the letter (which I can’t prove I didn’t get) I have to pay the fine or it just will keep going up. I feel really let down and would tell anyone, do not go to this pub unless you want to risk a £170 fine. NEVER AGAIN. I’m not the first, see other people’s comments, don’t let it be you!

We ordered at 1215 and our lunch arrived at 1pm. It was the same for others from our observation. It was the same last year. The food though, which is pub grab, is good. The people running it need to get this sorted. The place was also cold due to doors constantly being opened and the open fires not being lite. Must though recommend the pie of the day and the liver and sausage. Would also point out l am prepared to wait for good food but 45 minutes is not acceptable in a pub

The pub was so clean and tidy and the tables cleaned for new guests as soon as vacated. So busy they were having to turn away customers. Food lovely a great family lunch. Great atmosphere we love it keep it up.

Went in black bull as we have been in there on many visits in the past and have had some good times especially fridays for kareoke, today we found the landlady very rude and unwelcoming also no atmosphere in the place anymore, Won't be going in there again.

We popped into the Black Bull for some lunch and really enjoyed it. The pub is clean and comfortable and there was a good choice of food on offer. Despite being busy as it was Steam Punk weekend in Haworth, we got a table and were served quickly. We had scampi and chips and ham, egg and chips. Both meals were really good and presented well. Would definitely recommend it. We will be back.

I have been going in the bull for 2 1/2 years since moving over this way. Previous 2 landlords have been fantastic but the current landlady is a disgrace to the trade. She has accused me of leaving one of the previous bad reviews which has been left on TripAdvisor, which I can assure you wasn't me! Not only has she accused me of this, but she didn't have the decency to ask me to my face. She passed a message on via a friend to say I was no longer welcome in the bull as she assumed it was me as I had been in that day. On the day in question I did tell her I wouldn't be going in in future as she informed me she was taking carling out for fosters, I only drink carling as I won't pay 4.95 a pint for a premium lager and I don't like any of the cheaper brands on offer. She just didn't care she would be looking regular custom!

We popped in for a few drinks last night while staying Howarth. The pub could clearly use a makeover but that aside the staff were really lovely and efficient and the locals were extremely friendly. The atmosphere was brilliant. Exactly what you want in a pub.

We called here for something to eat on a Sunday lunchtime and were very disappointed when our food arrived. It was very well presented but the Sunday lunch was cold and I had to ask for a couple of steak knives as we couldn’t cut the beef. The toilets were only accessible once you had been given a code from the bar staff, once in the toilets there was no toilet paper! Will not be going again.

Living local we have been regulars for a long time and seen 4 landlords, unfortunately now you need a small mortgage to even consider going in, 4.95 a pint for premium lager or 3.75 for run of the mill lager, London is cheaper! New owners are nice but too buisness orientated, which will come back to bite once whe winter months really set in, staff cant talk to customers prices way too high lots more to offer locally at better prices. Try the Sun 150 yards away, amazing food, amazing staff who chat to you and almost 1-2 pounds a pint cheaper! All in all loverly pub with good staff but over priced and no atmosphere!

We went in after a meal elsewhere further down the street for a couple of drinks but only ended up staying for one. Quite pricey not made to feel very welcome. They did not have Carling two nights in a row. The final nail in the coffin was when I put two pounds in the juke box for 12 songs and 8 and a half of them were skipped. At the time we was the only people in the pub, then when others walked in they skipped almost all the songs with no acknowledgment to the fact we had paid for that privalage

Decided to stop here for a drink and some food after walking along Main Street. When we arrived, we were greeted by a very friendly lady who served us very well. The food came quickly after we ordered it (but not too quickly!) and was absolutely gorgeous.

Indeed the interior had changed from my visit some years ago, it was far more spacious than I remembered, but I myself thought a few more tables and chairs would make it more homely, apart from that the food was well worth the money spent and the service was first class.

Always smells, unfriendly faces. And to be honest many times it’s never open! Needs a major refurb and some much needed love. Has done for years. Shame because it could be beautiful. Food very over priced for quality. No thank you!

This pub with centuries of history and Brontë connection could do much better if it was cleaner, cosier, improved the quality of its food and had basics such as soap in the toilets! Bar maid was very friendly and drinks were fine but sandwiches disappointing in quality. Not much filling, covered in cheap dayglo yellow spread and also the salad was covered in cheap dressing. Chips however were very good! Waited over half an hour even though we were pretty much the only people in there. We love Haworth but when last visited we were quite shocked at the poor quality of the food being served in establishments. Perhaps we are spoilt living in North Yorkshire?!

Been here 4/5 times and the staff are charming and very welcoming. I think people are too hard on this wonderful historical establishment, and in particular on the owners, who are doing a fantastic job considering what they inherited from previous owners.

This is - at best - acceptable. I went here after a long journey, having read Branwell Brontë frequented this pub. It was dark, dated and lacked any character. Bit of a let down, especially as compared to other pubs in the area.

I was looking for somewhere new to try that was dog friendly, that wasn’t too far away. I searched for the previous pub name as always wanted to try it and realised it was under new management. When we arrived it wasn’t busy but we had a warm greeting and had a choice of tables. The decor is really nice and cosy and our dog was given a bowl of water. We chose from the grill menu which was exceptional value and included a drink, chose Madri. We both had sirloin steak with all the trimmings including sauce and it was really good, piping hot and tasty. As it was a warm night we ordered another drink and sat outside overlooking the amazing view. We will be back for grill night and to try the main menu which had reasonable prices for food and wine. We aim to support local business and have told friends about this place, some have booked for next week already. If you want a good country pub without rip off prices (which most seem to have) then give this a try. Inside has fires and twinkly lights which will be lovely in winter. Service was welcoming and friendly and we are looking forward to our next visit. We will get a taxi so we can have a few drinks. No photos of the food but here is one of the view.

Home From Home is one of four cafes in Kirkgate Market. I had a Full English breakfast which was well cooked and presented with toast and a cup of tea, friendly service, clean and good value.

Excellent beer served here. Well worth a visit. I haven't tried the food, but if the beer is anything to go by it'll be good
