Happen to drive past and decided to give this place a try....fantastic! Very friendly and welcoming, very helpful when it came to ordering. Both had Sunday lunches (they were out of beef so offered the beef bourginon instead which was delicious), portions were just the right size. Don't think we've ever had such great roast potatoes, so fluffy inside but crispy on the outside. Reasonably priced for the quality of food, will definitely visit again.

First time visiting and we were not disappointed. A warm welcome from the staff with a roaring open fire and lovely leather sofas to relax on. Recommended Theakston's best bitter from Seamus and it was a real good pint. Stayed in the large carpark at the rear in our motorhome and was happy that it was level. Ordered pizza to takeaway and that was really nice. Will definitely be back, Thank you.

Lovely sofa area by the fire and the food…. Absolutely immense - the chef cooked me a nduja runny scotch egg that wasn’t even on the menu. All 4 dishes were amazing - why this place isn’t packed to the rafters beggars belief. Free stopover for motorhomes - what’s not to like! Really good pint of Wainwright Gold - everything about this place is good - GO!

My wife and I drove up to Ripon for the day from Lancashire for her birthday. I did a bit of research beforehand for a cosy country pub that served food, saw that the Black A Moor Inn had good reviews, so reserved a table in the bar area as we had our dog. The inn is situated on a country road that takes you in and out of Ripon and has ample space for parking at the back. We can't comment on the restaurant area or the rooms but the bar area had a nice, cosy ambience. When we arrived, a group were watching the rugby on the tv but that didn't detract from anything. There was a good selection of real ale and lagers at the bar and I went for a pint of Theakstons while my wife had a large sauvignon blanc. There were plenty of options on the main menu and there was a separate menu just for their homemade pizzas which were tempting but my wife went for pan fried chicken and I had the pork belly. We were not disappointed! The food was nothing short of beautiful. Neither of us could fault it. For dessert, we ordered an Eton Mess and the sticky toffee pudding. Again, both were well presented and tasted fantastic! The service was attentive without being overbearing and we felt everything was very reasonably priced. All-in-all, it was a lovely experience and we would go back in a heartbeat. Thank you to the staff and manager .

First time here for lunch with friends. Even though we were the only ones in we were welcomed by the owner and sat in the bar area. The food was amazing and presented beautifully and the chef came out and had a chat with us..Even though he was a little stressed as he was getting everything organized for tomorrow which is the start of the Xmas menu which we will definitely be going to sample. I have given 4 stars as I was a bit cold (due to not being close to the fire) and I thought the wine was a tad expensive ( £9.75) for a large glass. Other than that it would have been 5 stars.

Great Theakston's pub. Often gone past meaning to visit and today I did stop. Lots of parking to rear, on two levels. Outdoor seating area to the rear complete with a pizza oven. Dog friendly pub. Attractive, smart pub with gorgeous floral displays of troughs and hanging baskets. Very colourful, inviting kerb appeal. Does food and accommodation. Friendly, welcoming and attentive staff. Impressed. Had two handpulled cask beers on when I visited: Theakstons Best and the lovely drop that is Wainwright's Gold. Gluten free, vegetarian and vegan catered for. I just had creamy garlic mushrooms on sourdough bread. Tasty. I would definitely revisit and am happy to recommend this pub to you.

Booked a pub lunch, food was exceptional with large portions and service was just right. Only downside was that their pizza oven wasn't ready (we arrived at 12:30pm) so couldn't enjoy one of their famed pizzas!

Having lived in Boroughbridge for 10 years and driving past this place everytime we go to Ripon decided to give this place a chance. Must say the food is excellent we had the antipasti starter and 3 pizzas which tasted fantastic all cooked in an outdoor pizza oven, which were very fairly prices. Would highly recommend and will definitely be back again in the future. Staff were also very friendly.

Beautiful, the decor is amazing, roaring fire, chest set and games on the table. Food was amazing had the sunday roast, the sticky toffee pudding for desert. Staff were very friendly. Perfect place for a country pub lunch/dinner. They do have rooms available although I didn't stay over night. Also was informed that you can stay over in the motorhome in the car park out the back with amazing views. Please note this is a car park so you would be off grid, like no electric hook up and toilets ect. There are toilets in the pub tho.

The place is nice, definitely worth the visit. The village nearby is a nice small community with an interesting police museum. Semi easy parking, a little bit confusing due to a private farm right next to it, but when in the car park it is very easy to find spots. They allow motorhome stopovers and are very common.

Dramatically over-priced food, clearly bought from an Inceland frozen section. I want to be mad, but it's impressive how incompetent these people were. The main course was particularly memorable as it looked strikingly like a just stop oil protester was making a political statement. I finally understand what what the failed Ripley clone meant when she said "Kill me".

Such a shame the previous owners aren’t in place still. It used to be such a warm and inviting place with incredible food. New owners seem like they’ve had Gordon Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares explained to them by Chairman Mao and Mystic Meg and decided that’s the way to run a culinary establishment.

Advertised as keeping faithful to what made The Tiger so popular when it reopened, same chef etc, but sadly it was more like the new owners previous Goldsborough pub but in a new location. OK, but just not as good. Steak and Ale Pie especially was disappointing as were the accompanying vegetables. A few chips in a little metal basket is never what you want to see!
