Bistro Noir in Liverpool

Have only quite recently discovered this place, but I love it already. Great menu, food is 👌, cosy atmosphere and great service.

We went on a Sunday and had the roast dinner which was absolutely gorgeous.. proper roasties to rival your Nan's. Haven't been here for years though and we did expect more French dishes on the menu.

My friend and I had mulled wine and sploup and sandwich. Fabulous. Best mulled wine ever. New glass cups they just bought.

Popped in for first time after farmers Saturday market. We had hot chocolate, tasty but not hot, just warm. Nice & cosy inside. Seen board outside advertising Sunday roast, 2 course £17.50 we will try it in future. The owners little dog was tethered to coat stand as we went in, seemed a tad agitated, just wanted a bit of attention. The owner took it out about 15 mins after we arrived, I don't think a busy cafe is place for a little dog right next to door.

Great food, when it arrived, an hour after we ordered. No one seemed to be in control. Bit disappointed we weren’t offered any money off for the wait. We were pretty chill about it. There seemed to be really poor communication between the staff. They need a maître d’hotel for the Sunday service.

Absolutely fantastic food great service, a must if you visit lark lane, We found when staying for a weekend Away great atmosphere lovely freindly staff, I reccomend the spicy lentil Dahl starter best thing I've ever tasted 😋

This place is a total gem; me and my boyfriend went for a Saturday evening dinner and had the warmest, cosiest, tastiest evening. The food was delicious, thank you to all the staff 💜

This is a place that does the basics well - a simple, uncluttered menu but interesting choices. Nicely cooked and seasoned, decent portions - what more could you want? The staff were just lovely - couldn't do enough for us but weren't intrusive either. The restaurant feels both laid back and cosy. The website isn't great and doesn't give a true reflection of how nice the restaurant is. I think the closing time should be rephrased as it says 9pm but this is what time the kitchen closes, not the restaurant.

The service was brilliant, and the food out standing if you are looking for a place to eat and not be rushed go to Bistro Noir

Fantastic customer service, fantastic food....I walked in after searching Lark Lane for a decent Chicken Ceaser salad. It wasnt even on ghe menu but they made it especially for me! It was amazing! Thank you so much at Bistro Noir! I know you are now putting it on your menu and I will deffo be back for another one! 😋❤️💯

My favourite place in Larke Lane is an authentic Caribbean with delicious brithish homemade desserts. The staff are super nice, and I do recommend

We were on Lark lane looking for somewhere to go for a Sunday roast,looked on TripAdvisor & was put of some other places by the reviews so thought we would try here as it had good reviews. On entering the bistro it seemed like a nice vibe and staff seemed friendly. We had the beef roast dinner which was okay but couldn't cut into the Yorkshire pudding which looked like a frozen one. Daughter had the lamb shank which she was said was good but she couldn't eat it all so she asked if she could take it with her. I saw the older male waiter look at it as if to say why bother & then Scraped it into a container. I would have liked to have had a dessert as a treat as the menu said £15 for 1 course & £17 for 2 courses(it wasn't explained if this included a starter or dessert) but we weren't offered any. It felt like the staff were waiting for us to ask for the bill which we did & felt rushed to pay straight away then the waiter seemed annoyed when trying to pay on my phone but it wouldn't scan because he kept moving the card machine before I had a chance to do it. Will not be going back even though earlier I had said I would like to go back to try something else of the menu.

Wow! What a gem of a place to eat and socialise. The food was delicious and very well presented. The lovely lady (Ann) could not do enough for us and was very polite and friendly, as was the gentleman too. I had the Japanese chicken strips for starters, which was sooo yummy, and then the salt n pepper chicken burger with big fat chips (yes, proper fat chips - winner!). All the food was piping hot, and everyone got what they ordered. Lovely experience :-)

A-MAZING! This has got to be the only place that I can recall walking into where you can actually smell the food that's being cooked (and it smelled delicious). We visited over the coronation weekend for lunch. Bistro Noir was reasonably busy, but staff offered a warm welcome in a very relaxed atmosphere. We both ended up ordering the Jamaican jerk chicken with plantain, which was excellent. Fantastic deserts on offer too and the sangria was very good. Very good value for money and we will return again in the future.

Not the Bistro Noir that I’ve loved for so long. I have been visiting this restaurant for years and it was definitely up there as one of my favourites for special occasions. Booked a table for this evening and the waiters treated us as an inconvenience the second we walked through the door. We had to ask for a drink 3 times before it arrived. Beer was also room temperature. The humus starter was very dry with a small amount of bread. Main (Sri Lankan curry), tasted exactly like an Asda microwave meal. I’ve had better curry sauce from the chippy. Very disappointed and unfortunately not on my list to revisit.

Went here for a full breakfast. Lovely meal at a reasonable price. Lovely, friendly staff served the food dead quick.

I went with a friend and the food was awful. The started was quickly served and cold, the food tasted like it was straight out of a processed cash and carry store. The main was worse and I couldn't finish it. It taisted off and like it had been re-heated three times. I couldn't finish it. Nothing was fresh. I don't usually give reviews but I just wasn't impressed.

Called in here for lunch the first time in a few years and I remember it being a lovely little quirky French bistro with a french menu. Things have changed quite a bit. The menu is a really mixture of nationalities from Caribbean American and French etc The place inside feels like a little French Bistro but the music they was playing sounded like some kind of underground Reggae music. Had the lunch menu and went for the pate to start and then the Jamaican jerk chicken with spicy gravy which was lovely except they miss sold the “spicy gravy” as Levi roots reggae reggae sauce or similar.

Nice little spot on Lark Lane. Good food and service. For visitors to Liverpool, this area is a hidden gem. Big Park nearby too.

Called in with my wife and our daughter who was celebrating her 21st birthday. The two course lunch was really good and excellent value for money. The vibe was relaxed and welcoming and we appreciated the attention given to the birthday girl. We will definitely return.

Jerk chicken should be marinated and served on the bone and the gravy must be made from the juices, to call the overcooked chicken breast and pathetic generic sauce that came with it 'jerk' is an absolute insult to Jamaica, service was akin to what you would expect in a cafe

Have visited for our fourth time and blown away again by the amazing food, service and ambience! Such a friendly, welcoming place with great soul! We absolutely love it and couldn’t recommend it enough. Very informal setting - it’s like a home from home. Lots of international dishes on the menu and all excellent value for money. Absolute gem! Lunchtime 2 courses for £15, excellent choice and value. Very pleasant staff, able to have banter and spend time advising on meal selection. The toilets are well maintained, a good sign of a well cared for establishment.

We had a fantastic Sunday lunch today. The staff were accomodating, attentive and humourous! The food was second to none. I had a vege roast. The nut roast was moist and tasty. Thanks for a lovely meal.

Lark Lane is the best place in Liverpool for choice of food..Bistro Noir is my favourite on the Lane. Friendly, great choice of food and reasonably priced. Cooked with love, the staff are brilliant. I go at least every month.

Always a pleasure to visit when I'm up from kent. Quirky bohemian restaurant in a wonderfully bohemian lark lane. Small menu but fantastic homemade food love the prawn won ton soup .reasonably priced wine great desserts and as always friendly welcoming staff!

This little bistro is an absolute gem. Recently been here twice for the three course meal deal, Wednesday and Thursday 14.95 with a glass of wine!! Food was gorgeous the poor staff were run ragged,so expect to chill,which was great. Will definitely be going back,left absolutely stuffed👍👍

Waited ages for the main after finishing starter for twenty minutes when I asked how long my main would be the woman snapped at me I replied I should have to get up from outside seating area to inside to ask for it , very rude and abrupt to me & my friends had to ask several times for the bill to the point I had to go in to pay when paying amount put on card reader I paid contactless the woman turned round to make something then tried to accusing me of not paying even though there was a loud ping off card reader confirming my payment i disputed this to the point where I had to show her the payment and her reply was “oh I thought” disgusting service to be fair this was one member of staff with glasses on the other waitress was friendly and tried to pick up the slack from the other member of staff I wouldn’t advise to go there based on service the food was ok but made to feel like a burden also was told we had to wait to pay after coming in to pay because she was busy only “two of us on today” appalling service ok food

Great value 3 courses for £14.95 including a glass of wine. Paid extra for salmon main course but that is expected for salmon or steaks. Food lovely, service not so good. Had to ask 3 times for our glasses of wine. Was in the middle of main course before it finally arrived at our table. When main course arrived was asked if I wanted any sauces or mayo, asked for ketchup and waitress disappeared, next time I saw her she was serving another table and had forgotten my request for ketchup, got it when I asked a second time. Table situated near to main food service area and bar and was knocked more than once by one of the staff who didn't even acknowledge or apologise, think she may have a few bruises as they weren't light knocks ! Again good food but I won't be rushing back

Quite simply, "excellent"!!! I went there yesterday on my birthday 16/06/22 at 17.30pm, with my wife and elderly Aunt!!! Firstly, the food was "absolutely delicious" and very reasonably priced, (see attached photos of menu), I had the "Japanese Chicken" to start and the "Jamaican Soul Food" as main!!! "Absolutely superb"!!!!! (They warn you it is a hot sauce before you order, but, the sauce is served separately anyway, which was "great" as you can "dip before pour"!!! 😂😂😂 )!!!! I found it as expected to my taste!!! The Staff are actually "wonderfull", the two young ladies and one young man, couldn't have been more helpful, welcoming and friendly!!!! 👍👍👍!!! It is very clean, well laid out and with plenty of room between tables, (which is unusual)!!! There is "very easy access" for the disabled (wheelchairs, etc....), the elderly, families and it is "dog friendly" which is really nice!!!! (especially, with the park being so close by)!!! 😄😄 Outside seating area is right outside, (Obviously, weather dependent), Parking is a "feckin pain" on the whole of "Lark Lane", so, I just parked at the top in "Sefton Park" and we walked down, which is easy - "simples"!!!!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣!!! Frankly speaking, I haven't been this "impressed" with a restaurant, or rather, "Bistro" for a long time!!! "Very Highly Recommended indeed"!!!! Q: "Will I return"???? A: "Absolutely"!!!!! (Just as a side note), My wife loved the really nice young lady waitress's "earrings"!!! Which she quite happily informed her you can apparently get for £3 on "Wish"!!!!!!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣!!!!

I'll be honest, I didn't like the look ofnit from outside but I was assured that the fare was good so I take it a go. I was not disappointed. A 3 course meal for fifteen quid, all of which were phenomenal, gorgeous gyoza, and amazing jerk chicken with plantain and rice, and a wonderful home made cheesecake to finish. Everything was delicious and the interior was actual warm and pleasantly decorated.
