Gaucho is quite a hard place to review. On one hand, the inside of the restaurant is absolutely stunning and the food, if judged as a meal alone and not against the cost is very very good, the empanadas and steak were amazing. The sauces were very good, albeit tiny. However, when compared against the cost I don't think the food is unreal, we're no strangers to spending good money on food and concious of thing being "too expensive" but i really did think it was over priced in comparison to what we got. The atmosphere is kind of odd too. It's very fancy inside but I'm unsure if it's going for fancy and posh or "boujee", upmarket and cool. It seemed to be somewhere in the middle. The music was loud and somewhat club/bar like, not much what you'd expect from a nice restaurant and it made it quite difficult for me and my girlfriend to hold a conversation because of the volume. The service was good in the sense that our waiter, Alin? Aleen? (A male with a name starts with Al) was very very nice and attentive. But slight underhand tactics kind of dampen the experience. When we asked for water, of course the £5.50 bottle comes instead of a jug of tap water like we saw at other tables. Fine it's £5.50 and we'll drink it because it's not that much and we should have specified but tap water should be standard in the UK. Next we ordered the beef empanadas, of course, the £2.50 more expensive 'wagyu' beef empanadas are served. Again, we didn't ask for this we specifically said beef and pointed to the top one, not a big deal in cost but strange and underhand to say the least. Finally, the 12.5% discretionary service charge is a joke. This applies for any restaurant who does this, not just gaucho, if it's discretionary, let the customers choose to add it on their discretion, not have to ask for it off at their discretion. We paid it. But would have tipped more had it not been added... Aware thst we could have asked for any of these things to be fixed and I'm sure they would have, but not having to ask in the first place would be nice.

Great interior, 100% Argentinian steaks, amazing Malbec and unforgettable signature cocktails.

Ordered ribeye 400g , to be honest I came here either quite high expectations, I was slightly disappointed, the ribeye steak, in my opinion was rare not medium, the steak instead was fine however I felt I have had better steak bought from.the supermarket. For the price you pay here it is disappointing. Not to mention the added cost for the water which isn't mentioned when they bring it over. I don't like giving a lower than average rating however I feel on this occasion it's justified. The atmosphere and service was good nothing to complain about that.

Had Hristina as our server for our meal, was super friendly and very welcoming, served me and my girlfriend for her birthday meal and made it super special, will come again soon! Thanks so much

Beautiful venue, decor is is very plush and chairs really comfy making for a lovely dinning experience. Staff really friendly and helpful. Food was fantastic, had the salmon tacos to start, rump steak with chips and a side of brocoli for main...no room left for any dessert but they looked good from what I could see. They had a live singer which was excellent...singing great songs but was just a bit too loud so hard to hear others on the table.

Pay close attention. If you're not much into wine or fine dining, this is the spot that might just change your perspective. I'd never heard of Gaucho before, and I’m not a fan of wine. Beef? Well, once a week is plenty for me. But by sheer coincidence, I found myself at Gaucho. They call it magic — and I wouldn’t have believed it until I experienced it myself. I won't spoil the surprise because I want you to be as taken aback as I was. But what I will say is this: you’re walking into a restaurant where everything is done with professionalism and precision. Although I dined alone, I couldn't help but think how perfect it would be for a special date night with my partner – something we've certainly earned. After my visit, I did some research and found plenty of info on their website and social media, from different price points to various experiences on offer. While I may not know much about wine or culinary arts, I can tell you this: the experience I had at Gaucho is one I wish everyone could enjoy.

Lovely food with great service but a little expensive. The steaks were tender and tasty and the accompanying sauce was a great addition. No garnish or veg on the plates though.

Took my 1year old Grandson here for Sunday lunch. What a wonderful experience for him. Beautiful surroundings with the most wonderful staff. Food was wonderful and plenty of it. Highly recommend 👌

We had a fantastic evening at Gaucho yesterday! Our server, Christina, was wonderful and incredibly attentive, ensuring we had a great time. I highly recommend the food; it was amazing, and she provided detailed explanations of the various meat cuts.

The good is beautiful; however, the service from the staff made everything amazing. Great place for a group to spend time together.

Lovely place, me and my girlfriend celebrated our first anniversary here and it did not disappoint. Drinks were very good, atmosphere very comfortable, food was delicious we had a great experience having Alin showing us the menu and helping us choose the best option of food, great customer service with great food and drinks. One thing I could mention is that the sides arrived 2-3 minutes after the steak, not terrible as the steak was still warm but worth mentioning. We will definitely come back!

We thought we’d give this a try as it sounded like fun, in reality it’s only ok. It all felt a little rushed and mechanical - though I suppose the chefs must get rather tiered of performing the same act numerous times each day. The quality of the food was good, but I just didn’t find the whole experience to be worth the cost (it’s rather expensive and 22.5% service charge is a little steep!) - but hey that my just be me.

Coco the chef was absolutely amazing at the beef bar along with Timo pairing the wine. We will be returning again, first time experiencing Gaucho and we were not disappointed!

I went to gaucho Liverpool for my birthday and I can’t lie the experience here was top tbh. I came for my birthday dinner and it was nothing short of amazing. First of all the service was great, the waitress was attentive and gave us a good insight on what the menu is about . She gave us a detailed explanation on the type of steaks they had and gave us drink ideas as well and she was not wrong. I ordered the steak and although I wish it had more sauces to come with it but it didn’t but it was perfectly cooked , we don’t do rare here. I had the steak with chips and mint sauce and like I said I wish it came with a different type of sauce. The person I went with had a Ceaser salad with steak tbh he could count the amount of steak on it and the salad had no sauce as well which made it a bit dry . So the food was not excellent but it was good. The drinks were my highlight colourful and appealing to my tastebuds and also the right amount of alcohol in it. The brought me a surprise birthday cake and sang for me as well and this was so beautiful 🥹💜. We spent about 80pounds for two persons. I enjoyed my experience here and I would go back .

Went here a few weeks ago. Amazingly decorated and great atmosphere from surrounding customers ,however the food was definitely not worth the expense. To begin with we had bread served with a garlicky dip which was the best part about it.The pasta had no taste or flavour and the service was slow. Staff was not friendly and made us feel uncomfortable especially a blonde haired women who was extremely unfriendly and had a negative attitude from the beginning of our experience. When requesting for sauce , salt etc… we had to ask about 3 times and when finally received it our meals was basically gone.really expensive and not a lot of choice. Finally we ordered dessert which came out on an extremely hot plate which was not stated so when it came to touch it was hot and could’ve burned us. The dessert also was not nice. Great decoration gaucho however an unfriendly environment.

Great venue, nice atmosphere and great service from the bar and table.. Not a lot of room on your table once your food and drinks come out.. Ordered the large Chateaubriand.. we both felt it was ok and over priced.. had better and cheaper elsewhere am afraid.. Red wind was very nice.

Good all round experience. No star marking available here for wine which would get a 1 star. Although enjoyable it was very overpriced at £67. Same bottle available in Asda for £15

What has happened to Gaucho? Having been several times in the past it has always been very good. However, tonight the food was poor, the service awful, and the toilets disgusting.

Quite possibly the worst steak I've ever been served on a plate I ordered it to be cooked medium, cut into it and it was red raw inside, the waiter offered to take it back and re cook it I don't believe a steak restaurant, which claims on their website to be the best steak in Liverpool should be taking your food away to re cook it They should get it right first time The starters weren't great and the drinks are over priced, the restaurant is very nice inside I've been to Gaucho in Manchester a number of times and I can't fault the place It's a shame that the Liverpool branch can't achieve the same standards I actually walked out feeling like I'd just been robbed The service charge for the robot like waiter to serve uncooked meat was an insult too They won't be getting another penny of my money

We recently booked to try their 3 courses for £30 - 30 years celebration menu. The restaurant is gorgeous and we had high hopes for a wonderful evening. The starters were cold starters, crab and avocado and ceviche prawns, the prawn dish was delicious, full of flavour. The crab dish was a bit underwhelming. For mains we both opted for the steak dish, one medium one medium rare. Steaks were served , without any sides, not even a garnish on the plate. You have to pay extra if you wanted any sides . We added fries to each steak main . The steaks were the size of a piece of salmon like what you'd get in a supermarket . Neither steaks were cooked to our specification. The medium was very rare. The server agreed and offered to put it back on the grill. Both steaks needed seasoning . Desserts were ok. We ordered a draught beer pint , a schooner arrived . We weren't told at ordering that it wasn't pint size. A bottle of water was opened and placed on our table after we stated we werent bothered about table water and we would be happy with tap water if they wanted to bring us any. This was charged on our bill . Service was aloof and cold after we pointed out the issue with the steaks . Awkward. Overall it really wasn't the good value we were expecting and it came to just under £100 including the added service charge. Would we return, no . Is the restaurant beautiful, yes. We expected alot more and unfortunately left feeling deflated and a bit ripped off if I'm being honest. There's a million places in Liverpool that you'd get a better steak at a better price .

We dined at 18:45. Our server was “Nicole” whom was great she gave us recommendations on the wine and steak and we were very impressed. Thanks Nicole we had an amazing evening. Gaucho is set in a posh setting very romantic and I would highly recommend !!!

I went here for my anniversary dinner with my husband. It’s a really expensive steak place with excellent customer service. The food is not really great for its price but the customer service makes up for it. Our host was Santiago. Such a wonderful service guy. But I didn’t enjoy my steak as it was dry and chewy. I was only able to eat it cause I knew it was expensive. Over £150 on steaks.

We were in Liverpool for Taylor Swift's concert and went to Gaucho for dinner. I could not put into word how amazing everything was there. From the beggining to the very end! The warm welcome, the service, the food, everyone was so friendly knowadgable and helpful! Our waitress, Christin was the cherry on the top, she made us feel so special! I strongly recomend Gaucho to everyone who visites Liverpool, it's the best by far!

I went there to grab a few drinks with friends. The atmosphere was nice,. The service we received from the bar manager Miro was top-notch. I recommend it and will visit again!

The dinner at this Argentine steak restaurant in Liverpool was an absolute delight, with perfectly cooked steaks that were rich in flavor and incredibly tender. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, complemented by the friendly and attentive staff who made the entire dining experience exceptional.

Very disappointing experience . The burger and the Ribeye steak were both good but the fillet was disappointing .Our main problem was the service the waiter couldn't have been less interested in serving us . We left deflated and regretting spending so much money on dinner .

I only have positive things to say about our experience here. The food is absolutely delicious and the chefs are wonderful. They are so engaging and really get the whole table involved. We loved meeting the other people on our table. 10/10

Party of 5, with a 3 year old. The food and service were top standard 👌🏾 Food was incredible. We had the Sunday roast. The beef was cooked to our preference and was honestly one of the best slices of beef I've had. Our waiter, Alin, was very attentive. The only thing that wasn't a 5 was the spicy margarita that I ordered. Alin made sure that it was rectified by asking me what was it that I didn't like about the drink, he then used these comments to make amends and fixed the drink to my liking, ensuring that I was satisfied with the taste.

The venue is beautiful, the food was fantastic. You couldn’t complain about a thing. There was a couple of times the service could have been better. Wait times for drinks was what let it down. Regardless I’d recommend anyone go.

Myself and my Mrs recently attended for a date night to celebrate my birthday. Apart from it being relatively quiet (which you can sort of expect on a Monday evening) we could not fault it at all. The food was superb and the service was even better. Christina was superb and we could not thank her enough for her recommendations and knowledge. Also, the young Irish lady at front of house was also lovely and very welcoming. Will be attending again.

Beautiful steak as always. Decoration is in keeping with the original art deco interior. Only slight issue was a dog being allowed in the restaurant.

After traveling from London to Liverpool to watch our football team lose we were in need of a pick me up and Gaucho was perfect for this. Food was sublime , the service was attentive and the DJ playing added to the fantastic ambience. I've been to many Gauchos in London and Birmingham and this was every bit as good.

Popped in for Sunday lunch. Beautiful building, nicely renovated. Sunday roast was excellent. Beef comes well done or pink. Live music on a Sunday afternoon, a touch loud. Staff were knowledgeable and on the ball. Overall a good experience.

Food was average compared to my usual visits but made up with the friendly service from Kyza on reception who was chatty and accommodating whilst I waited for a table despite not having booked. Many thanks, would recommend and will return.

Tonight was a little disappointing... as a customer who has eaten at gaucho many times, tonight did not live up to our normal experience.... There seemed to be a big disconnect between the staff, we were told to go to the bar when we arrived yet half an hour later we had to ask the matradee to seat us, I asked for the wine list to three different severs before it arrived, one of our Steaks arrived very over cooked and when this was highlight to a member of staff we were made to feel like this was correct, being a regular customer we know this is not the case... our main waiter was delightful and the rest of the food was great but a bit of a disappointment based on our previous brilliant experiences of this particular branch

I have had many 5* meals at Liverpool gaucho over the years but it has recently gone a little down hill… I cannot fault the service and atmosphere in such a beautiful building. However I have noticed the food hasn’t been up to the gaucho standard. Cold chips, watery and over cooked pasta.

I had lunch here and I ordered the fillet steak, which is supposed to be the best one. It wasn’t bad (flavour was okay, but I expected more for the price). I had to ask for salt as they didn’t add any, and the knife was awful to cut it. It came with chimichurri sauce (really useful when the meat is unseasoned) and fries (absolutely delicious, best part of the meal and that hurts when you’re supposed to be having a nice steak). I found the beverages quite expensive (5£ per water bottle), and a bit absurd to charge for ketchup and mayo on top of a highish service charge. The staff and the atmosphere were nice, but I wouldn’t be back.

Our server Hristina was absolutely amazing. She made us feel welcomed and gave us brilliant recommendations. She talked to us about wine and was very knowledgeable, and helpful. We very much enjoyed our afternoon at Gaucho.

We were well looked after by the staff after I had got our reservation time wrong and arrived late. The girl with long blonde hair and glasses was brilliant and managed to get us a table on a very busy night. (sorry, I didn’t catch your name) the food was incredible, our waiter from Italy was great and the dj was bang on with the tunes. A beautiful restaurant and great atmosphere. We will definitely be returning to Gaucho on our next trip to Liverpool.

The good, the bad, and the ugly..... I've dined in several Gaucho restaurants across the UK and this franchise left me with very mixed feelings. The food was on the whole very enjoyable and what you would expect from Gaucho. We all had steaks and everyone enjoyed them. The restaurant itself is located in a very grand and historic building in the city centre close to the main business district of Liverpool. It's certainly a stunning building and has a striking feel inside. However, the restaurant is so big that it felt very empty despite several diners being there already when we arrived. Our server was very polite and friendly but she appeared to be the only person really doing anything and on several occasions we had to ask for simple things such as the drinks menu. The food itself was served efficiently but at nearly £200 and a 12.5% service charge we were left feeling disappointed. Having paid the bill we were then informed that we would be receiving a small cake to mark my wife's birthday... Whilst this may have been a nice touch it was only offered post payment as we were ready to leave. This was not only frustrating but it also felt a bit cheeky. I.e. Now you've paid we will offer you the cake! So in summary, it's a real shame as I really wanted to like this Gaucho but I don't think I can justify returning anything soon especially given the quality of the competition at this price point in the city.

Was served by a lovely blonde haired lady she was second to none. If even busier feel like service would be slow. Not a good look when dirty glasses left on side of the bar. Food is really lovely. It was a very busy night due to the Grand National and a football match. The service though was really good and the team are really friendly and professional. Barman Jerome makes a great Negroni. And Jakub, our waiter, was also great.

DO NOT ATTEND GAUCHO LIVERPOOL waited over 45 mins for are table most of the starters was not available the mains the steak was hard as anything no flavour to it what so ever was like chewing the table the Mac and cheese was hard as nails no flavour at all the steak come with 2 hairs in off the waiter which was not happy about it waited over 40 mins for the bill and asked over 5 waiters for the bill would not recommend to anyone

Do not attend gaucho Liverpool are table was booked for quater to 8 got sat down at are table for quater past 8 didn’t have most starters available mains the steak was better off with a pot noodle was dry as the table the mac and cheese was like bullets hard as anything the waiters was very unhelpful I asked for the bill 5 times and waited 30 mins for the bill

We had a reservation for 9pm, arrived and were shown to a table in the bar to wait, we waited here for over half an hour and had the pleasure of watching a fight take place during this time between two customers chucking glasses around, we were then taken to our table and after roughly an hour in the restaurant our order was taken. The food arrived and the steak was nice, if not a little cold. The sides and sauces were of poor quality with soggy chips and separated sauces, not what I would expect from a restaurant of this calibre. Overall a nice interior but without the service or food quality to match

I had mushroom tagliatelle and it was really bland, it basically tasted like white sauce. I also got a side of chips which were overly salty to the point they were inedible. Decent cocktails though and nice atmosphere. I’d recommend it as a place for drinks but not food.

Went for a wedding meal - myself, my husband and our two witnesses. Absolutely amazing experience, so glad we chose here for our celebration meal. Our server Ben was fantastic, amazing service from him and his knowledge on the steaks and recommended ways to be cooked was great! We even got a gorgeous board with congrats written in chocolate and a glass of prosecco. Food was out of this world! 100% recommend and will definitely be returning.

The food was perfect and the steak was just on point. We had the best service and it was all thanks to Santialo who provided excellent service throughout our meal. He was attentive, friendly, and made sure all our needs were met. I highly recommend him and can’t wait to visit Gauchos again.

Extremely posh. Service excellent. Completely wasted on me. How much info and options does the average person need to order a steak? The folk with expense accounts and clients to impress will think the prices good value.!
