Bistro at Shamrock Quay in Southampton

Attracted by the reviews, dropped in on spec with my Mum looking for a lunch that was a bit special. I liked the place immediately. It was busy but Roman was running front of house that day and looked after us both really well. Everything was a pleasure and my Mum said she'd eaten the best lunch she'd had in years. Well recommended indeed.

Had the most FANTASTIC Sunday roast dinner. The owners were so welcoming. I've recently broken my foot and they accommodated me so well. I opted for this mixed roast and could not fault a thing. Plenty of veg, including cauliflower and broccoli cheese. My partner had the chicken milanese and ate every last mouthful. We then lounged in the front garden for a good hour chatting to the locals. I would highly recommend coming here for a chilled out Sunday.

Great location, good selection of beers on tap & Sunday roast can’t be beaten! Great location for a beer before and after Southampton fc home games for both home and away fans

Me and my partner visited in the late morning on a Sunday. We arrived after the menu stated the cutoff time for breakfast was, but the waiter said it was fine. We both had scrambled eggs with salmon. Eggs were well seasoned, garnish was a bit wilted but overall a hearty meal.

had a lovely meal here but unfortunately left my jacket behind , the team were kind enough to post it back to me Top Class service all round Thanks again Roger

Great Sunday lunch and good service. We had the pick of the tables outside as it was pretty quiet so hopefully it gets busier through the season as the staff were so welcoming.. Would definitely return.

Amazing food, great and friendly service,food of very high standard and relaxed atmosphere. Had a fantastic date night with 3 course which we did not have a bad word to say. The Pork belly with cider and mustard sauce was sensational and melt in the mouth would highly recommend.

Where to start! We went with friends for Sunday Lunch and what a Sunday lunch it was this plate of yummy food was presented to each of us it had lots of lovely beautifully cooked veg a massive yorkie and roast potatoes to die for I’m really fussy about how my beef is cooked and I was not disappointed. Our friends had pork which they thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience was FANTASTIC. The staff were very attentive throughout but not over bearing would defineately recommend and will definitely be going back . Thank you to all concerned for a lovely afternoon

I've been on the hunt for great fish and chips for years, and today, I finally found it at The Bistro Shamrock Quay. The batter was perfectly crunchy, and not greasy. The chips were just right – crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside. It's evident that every aspect of the dish, from the sourcing of the fish to the cooking technique, has been meticulously considered. From now on, whenever the craving for fish and chips strikes, there's only one place I'll be heading – The Bistro at Shamrock Quay. Trust me, once you've tasted their fish and chips, there's no going back.

Popped in for a quick lunch and a pint. Service was amazing, waitress was attentive and polite. Food was second to none, I only had the curry wrap but it was sooo good, cooked perfectly. Would definitely recommend!! A+++

We love this restaurant! The food is always really tasty and the Sunday roasts are enormous. Service is really friendly, and the menu has good options for kids too (colouring books and high chairs are available but note no baby change facilities, though there are toilets opposite).

Very nice place to eat but we ordered 2 X buttermilk chicken burger and chips and two cokes.. I am definitely not one to complain but when the so called burgers came out it looked like half a chicken breast in a toasted bun and a bit of salad and about 15 chunky chips each...£37 very poor value for money... especially in this current climate !!

Staff don't seem to have any personal skills 3 people behind the bar serving one person none of them acknowledge myself or my colleagues who were waiting and when they did come over seemed like they didn't want to serve us . On the up shoot seeing there food come out looked very nice but won't dine there for the reasons above

Considering that this place is located in a Marina, it seems to place little importance on serving the yachts/boats. Opening hours are geared entirely to the "local" workforce. Not open for breakfast, closes early.

Ate recently in a large crowd. Crispy squid and tempura prawn were ok to start. Main of fish and chips.the fish was v good ,actually tasted of fresh fish….rare in this day. Desserts were good as well according to my fellow diners.

Dog friendly wonderful food, great breakfast. We’ve tried many in Southampton and this wins hands down. Great sausage, tasty eggs, enjoyable eggs and amazing fried bread We will be back

Top Tasty Supper. Shamrock Quay is a busy working Marina, slightly off the beaten track, though close to the Football Stadium. The Bistro is perfect for a relaxing lunch, a drink after work or sailing and a real find for supper. Good value for money, enjoy.

Lovely lunch today with the wife. I decided to go for the Pig Board as a main (probably a mistake, as I'm still feeling very full!! 😂), she went for the Chicken burger and fickles (fried pickles). Set in Shamrock quay, I love this independently run bar/ which is owned by Mark & Sharon. The place is well set out, with an inviting atmosphere and is always clean and tidy. I ate here with my grandkids after a women's football match, It was a good way to finish off the day. We all went for roast dinners, 2 beef and a pork, and again it didn't disappoint. The beef was cooked to my liking, the veg was cooked well and the spuds were lovely. The kids enjoyed theirs and there wasn't a lot left after we ate. Due to being stuffed I forgo dessert but the girls had apple crumble and custard, again this got good reviews for them and they were pleasantly full after eating. Today I was served by a mixture of Clair, Laura and Roman, they looked after our every need in this chilled out place. Recommended 👍

Hidden gem! Amazing food , drinks and service.

For both me and my partner it was our first time, and the reviews for this place were gleaming so thought it only eight to swing by for some dinner. When we first arrived was very happy with the setting and layout. We were served promptly very well by Roman our waiter. Food came fast and my gosh was it excellent. Fair priced meal for high quality food. Would definitely recommend

I love this place, really nice setting by the water with great atmosphere and food. Good range of Italian draft lagers but I really like the shed pale ale. The servers are all very polite and friendly. Had the steak burger which was excellent and my boys had pizza for the football match, really close to the ground 10 minute walk and the car is parked for free. Highly recommended

Situated in Shamrock quay this independently owned restaurant/bar is a lovely place to eat and relax. Well set out and welcoming, I always enjoy visiting and having a bite to eat. Today I ordered a roast beef dinner and 2 children's Sunday lunches. Well presented, the beef was stunning, along with the roast potatoes, veg and Yorkshire pudding. The beef wasn't over or under cooked which is a positive in my humble opinion. I skipped dessert because I was stuffed but the girls had a chocolate brownie ice cream and apple crumble and custard for their dessert. Both looked good and I had some of the crumble, it wasn't stodgy like some places, in fact it was well constructed, well done to whoever made it ☺️☺️ I love the fact it's independent, we need to support these businesses. I would definitely recommend it if in the area and want good honest and well cooked food and a place to relax 👍☺️☺️

Great location tucked away in shamrocks quays, ample of inside and outside seating for drinks and food with ample of free parking. (Must put car registration in their keypad system) Dog friendly. Food is lovely especially the fish and chips and seafood linguine. Good choice of gins. Decor is modern chic with relaxing and chilled vibes. They occasionally host private functions and put on events such as live bands which is always a great turn out. Sundays they have a regular singer with guitar. Staff are friendly and helpful with a non nonsense attitude who you can feel comfortable around and have a laugh with. Would definitely recommend for drinks and food.

We were looking for a family Sunday lunch and we were certainly glad that we decided to dine here. Set in Shamrock Quay marina, this restaurant offers easy(and free!) parking with a large outside terrace and spacious inside dining area. We plumped for a terrace table and read the menus whilst listening to the singer guitarist playing, a nice touch. Food chosen, we were guided by our host Roman towards a bottle of Mendoza Malbec to accompany our roasts - an excellent choice. We shared the fish board to start, enough for the 4 of us to enjoy and we especially liked the warm garlic prawns. Roasts arrived, with Pork and beef chosen, with well crisped slow roasted pork belly and tender beef strip loin. Our mains came with good selection of vegetables, large Yorkshire pudding and an extra jug of gravy. It’s nice to see a fully plated Sunday roast as opposed to the trend towards serving obviously microwaved vegetables in a side dish for everyone to fight over! Mother in law declared her syrup sponge pudding and custard a triumph - we will have to take her word for that as we never got a look in! Thanks to the kitchen team and Roman for providing us with exactly the lunch we were looking for, and in economically difficult times like these we are more than happy to support independent businesses. We will return.

We had a nice table in a lovvely cool, a/c restaurant on a very hot evening. The menu is varied and we enjoyed our starter and wine. We ordered pizzas for our mains which were well cooked and tasty. The only comment is there was a lack of toppings. Very sparce we thought. The staff are friendly and the service good. A very relaxed place, located well. Thank you to all.

Although we were warned as to a delay in the kitchen we didn't experience any problem with timing of the food at all which seemd to arrive perfectly promptly. Lovely position right on the quay next to luxury boats and the water's edge.

Had a fabulous meal for my Niece's graduation. Food was excellent and service really good. Staff were helpful and friendly. Would really recommend and go again.

Ordered from here twice now and the food is just incredible. The first time, I got one of their Sunday roasts - all the veg came in the most delicious cheese sauce, and the potatoes were amazing. The second time, I got the pork belly - the gravy was so good, the pork was soft in the middle with crispy skin, the treacle veg was so so nice and not too sweet either. Just perfect to be honest, really recommend it!

I first ordered from the Bistro trying to find a great takeaway roast around 2nd lock-down, and I was seriously impressed with what showed up. I've since ordered these several more times, as well as trying other dishes. The food has consistently been incredible, and portion size/quality/flavour have all been spot on. I've also dined in on a few occasions, and thought the decor and service were both lovely too. Highly recommend! PS- If you added the option for a mixed meat roast on delivery too that would be unreal!

This is a great find. It's not in an obvious spot tucked behind an industrial estate, but it's a great spot on the quay. The staff are very friendly, and the service is excellent. Good selection of drinks and food on the menu. Our new pre match ritual and venue.

Staff is lovely. The food is very ordinary relative to the price and takes ages to arrive even when the place is empty. Salads are ridiculously overpriced for what they are as are the specials. Worth a visit but stick to the basics when ordering here to avoid disappointment.
