Visited several times for drinks and this time had lunch. Firstly the pub is very well presented, modern but with character. We had a pie, chicken burger and 3 kids meals and everyone of us were happy! Chips excellent in particular and the beer is always good too. Will be back soon for sure!

After walking the Ingleborough trail a good meal and refreshing drinks were necessary and the New Inn supplied these in abundance. A fresh and interesting decor with shields, helmets and other bits of knight's accoutrement displayed on the walls, etc. The menu was short but well suited to general tastes. My Cumberland Curl on mashed potato was excellent. The staff were chatty and friendly with quick service. Prices were fine and the atmosphere in the inn was very pleasant and relaxing.

lovely village hotel/pub - people very friendly . Decided to book a meal here for the evening of the world cup football being shown on tv. It was a good choice good atmosphere and good ales. The food that we chose was simple but very very nice (fish chips) but excellently cooked and plenty of it but our friends who chose linguine were a little disappointed as only 3 pieces of fish within the pasta. Loved the evening though as obviously helped with the atmosphere.

at £14 I was expecting a great burger, the burger had a nice peppery flavour, a good cheese. There were some chips, 10 of them, I have had more satisfying meals for less. There were fish and chips on the menu, though when I had some another evening, I had them from the chippy in the next town and they were lovely.

Booked in for an evening meal on the second night of our stay, wished we had eaten there the first night as well. The menu was really good and we would have liked to worked our way through it. Our meal was lovely, cooked to order and well presented. The starters were a little expensive but the rest of the menu was ok. The staff were really friendly and helpful. Lovely atmosphere and Would definitely recommend it.

The food was reasonably nice, although lacking somewhat in flavour, I had cod chips peas and tartar sauce. The chips were lovely, the fish was ok, the peas and tartar were without flavour. We asked for some bread rolls for out table, and were brought 2 1/2 rolls, between 4 of us, which appeared on the bill, priced at £5.99. It is a lovely setting but there are far better reasonably close by, worth doing your research and book early, the good local ones get full quickly,.......

I had to search a little to find this absolute gem located in a beautifully restored old coaching inn in Clapham village. We chose to eat in the Bistro away for the bustling bar full or thirsty walkers and shooters, although I wouldn't have baulked had I the option to sit in the bar as the atmosphere was lively and welcoming. Equally the bistro although located beyond the residents bar is still well laid out and welcoming and as it got busier full of tales of the days adventures in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales. We were seated next to the front windows just near a large round table that seated 7 or 8. If I had a larger group, I'd definitely book this as it looked a great deal of fun, however we didn't so we soaked up the vibes and thoroughly enjoyed the view of the brook from our location next to the fire. The menu is not overly large, but offers something for everyone. Well laid out and easy to understand. I had the Scallops to start and my partner the amazing seafood chowder which is a meal in itself. A half portion here would easily suffice as a starter. For our mains, I had the Roast Beef and my partner the steak. Simply no better food have I had in the Dales. The steak was cooked as requested and was served simply without too much fan fair. Definitely an indication of the divide between pub grub and fine dining. The Roast Beef was the best I have ever encountered. Flavour times ten. Had I room for dessert, I would have definitely had the Chocolate Fudge that came to the table next to us....it looked amazing. Plus the servings of unusual local ice creams looked tasty too. Good reasonably price wines and beers if you stick to the main local brews and this is definitely a place to come for a relaxing high quality meal. I don't see any difference to the pricing you would see at other established gastro pub / tourist pub locations like Malham, Kirkby etc. But there is something a little unusual about this one. Perhaps its the fact its the only one in the village and you feel like your the only people sharing a special occasion. Well worth a visit....and if your a walker or into the outdoors, I'd consider staying the night, what I heard from the other guests obviously staying overnight is the rooms are great.

Recently booked this hotel through Secret Escapes. The weekend was excellent value for money and we enjoyed our stay. We ate both evenings in the restaurant in front of a roaring log fire, lovely. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. The breakfast menu was also excellent and very plentiful with quality ingredients, if a little chaotic. We were allocated a room in the adjoining stable block. Although these rooms have been renovated to a high standard it would not be my choice to stay in an annex. I personally found the room a litte chilly and the radiator could not be adjusted but by far the most annoying feature was the fact that some sort of fan came on when any of our adjoining neighbours used the bathroom. This was really loud at 2.00 am and 4.00 am and was on some sort of a timer that did not switch off for nearly three quarters of an hour.I did mention this to the Manager and he promised to look into it but the noise persisted throughout our second night. Had I been staying longer I would have asked to change rooms. The Dales are beautiful and we will hopefully return but not in Room 5.

We called in for a light lunch and were not disappointed. I had an excellent seafood chowder and my husband the cock a leekie soup, also pronounced excellent. Both were served with two mini loaves and good butter. The decor is very pleasing and everywhere was spotlessly clean. The only niggle was the charming waiter who kept repeating the above phrases to all and sundry. I stopped counting after 20. I know this is supposed to be modern 'speak' but a simple Yes Sir would be nicer. However, that is really nit picking. We gave our experience 10 out of 10.

We were staying at the hotel and the evening meal on the first night came as part of the package. Leaving aside the absurd pricing, there are plenty of interesting aspects to having an evening meal here. The menu is very limited with only a handful of choices and even then some of those options are odd. We chose the Thai style mussels as a starter. It didn't quite work as a flavour combination but it was plentiful and there was a lot of liquor which required something to mop it up with. While there was bread, it was a small piece of toasted olive bread which didn't complement the dish, couldn't soak up the juice and as such we had to ask for a spoon. Moving on to mains we had the fish and chips and the burger. The fish dish had its good point - the crushed peas. They provided a bed for the child's portion of good battered cod which was also accompanied by presumably triple and significantly overcooked chips and the blandest of tartar sauces. Underwhelming. The over-hyped burger is ok. A piece of good steak in an excellent toasted bun - but the steak was requested to be rare and arrived medium..... The fries were flavoursome but properly cooked chips would have been preferable and the salad and onion rings pretty standard fare and all for £23? Just to confound us the melting chocolate pudding was flawless! Wine and water were a little overpriced but not compared to the food. Service was efficient enough but at no point did any of the staff ask us if we wanted anything or if everything was alright - would have been very happy to discuss it because it was so variable it was like an exam for budding food reviewers. Spoke to the owner on leaving and he was telling us that Brits are happy to pay for good food and how the sunshine means full tables and good income because those establishments around them are poor. Well good food yes but much of this wasn't, just odd and he didn't seem to have any notion that they were simply expensive and good in far too few areas. Complacent - the food offering needs change and development now. And finally no, we didn't eat there on the second day.

We came here for a Sunday roast at tea time. The decor and surroundings are lovely and the welcome by staff was good too. We were the first to arrive in the restaurant so the service was impressive. The food was lovely but the portions were not really good value for money. There was a distinct shortage of beef - one slice. And although the Yorkshire pudding and veg were very nice, I would have expected more meat for the price paid. 2 main courses, one dessert, 2 glasses of wine and a pint of beer was a few pennies short of £50. Good quality food it may be but I felt it was a little expensive. I have had equally good meals elsewhere for under £40.That was my only complaint. Otherwise a very enjoyable meal.

We came across this place by default. Sat outside with our two dogs as a beautiful evening even though they would be welcome inside). Varied menu with something for all tastes and budgets. Fantastic variety of drinks at reasonable prices. Ordered the seafood tasting platter between two of us and portion of chunky chips. Loads of food including oyster, lobster, king prawns, squid (cooked perfectly), mussels and an amazing variation of homemade sauces and accompaniments. Quite sufficient for two adults. Though we did order a cheeseboard to follow - which again was wonderful. Great variation of artisan crackers and fig compote, celery, grapes, French unsalted butter and five decent portions of different cheese. All enjoyed with a couple of pints of well kept Timothy Taylors Landlord and some amazing fig infused cider. One of the most enjoyable meals ever with excellent service.

Stopped off here recently for an impromptu meal. We decided to try the ploughman's lunch and think we got a scarcrows starter. At fifteen quid I expected a substantial plate of food and was so shocked I joked to my partner to check the back of my head because I felt I had been mugged. Half a scotch egg, a mini pork pie, a quarter of an apple, six grapes, two darylea size bits of cheese and two tea spoons of pickle served on a small piece of slate. I have to say it was very nice quality but I left hungry. When the waiter asked if he could get anything else I nearly said like a main course. A soft drink and a pint cost seven pounds. So sadly won't be eating there again

Visited in May on a wet cold day. Accompanied by a wet smelly dog. Great dogs are allowed in the pub area but rightly so not in the restuarant. Lovely open fire, decor stylish but comfortable. Superb welcome by staff, very friendly and helpful, other guests also nice. Service was excellent, the food was amazing. Veal shank with risotto has to be the best meal I have had for a long time. The ribeye steak was cooked to perfection. Equally the deserts and coffee with brandy for afters was served exactly as it should be and its surprising how many restuarants fail at this point. some have mentioned it being a bit expensive, but as seasoned visitors to many restaurants, it is not expensive, you get what you pay for. Thanks guys for a great afternoon, making us feel very welcome with our wet smelling German Shepard and food you should be proud of.

Last year following the completion of a walk up Ingleborough I noticed that this establishment had undergone a significant face lift so we decided to investigate. The décor was very pleasant and the menu seemed interesting. On this occasion we had booked dinner at another hotel but we returned on the 13th May this year. When I phoned for a reservation I was told that they had a large group booked but they could accommodate us if we were patient. This was not a problem for us and on our arrival were quite happy to relax in the bar whilst they handled the 'rush'. In these circumstances I was very surprised to be asked for our orders within 15 minutes. We hadn't even looked at the menus. In the event we rushed our orders from what I considered to be a significantly reduced menu from that which I recalled from the previous year. However, I ordered scallops followed by curried mussels and my wife ordered saddle of rabbit followed by confit of lamb.My scallops was the smallest portion I have ever seen and my wife's rabbit was overcooked to a crisp. I informed the waitress who said that she would 'tell chef' and walked off. I scraped the rabbit off the parched bone for my dog. The mains arrived. The lamb was acceptable but my mussels were cold. I called over the waitress who said she would 'tell chef' and she removed my meal. Within less than 2 minutes she was back - obviously my meal had been given the microwave treatment and I declined to accept reheated shellfish. By this time my wife had finished and I requested the bill pointing out that I would not pay for the rabbit or my mussels. I was not charged for my mussels but the waitress added when delivering the bill 'your wife ate the rabbit' - I showed her the scrapings in a serviette and asked if she would like them back. I told her to rectify the bill but to my amazement she refused twice and told me to go to the bar. This I did and needless to say I did not pay for the rabbit. This 'meal' with 1 beer and 1 glass of house wine was £42.We shall not be returning!

We had dinner in the pub of this hotel on May 18, 2015. I hesitate to call it a pub because the dining room is very pretty and decorated in soothing tones. The fireplace adds to the ambience. When we were there ( twice) we had lively conversation with locals and fellow travelers. The beers and ales are very good. The food is surprisingly good. Both meals I had there were wonderful. The hotel is chock full of history. I regret not asking for a quick tour. The bar is two sided : one for the pub and one for the hotel . The bar itself is handsome . The owner, an Australian gentleman, was eager to please his customers and was happy to engage in conversation. We enjoyed talking with him and listening to local lore. If you are within fifty miles of this place, stop in .You won't be disappointed.

I visited the Inn after a walk with a rambling group, so we were all ravenous. Having ordered a 250ml glass of pleasant but ordinary Pinot, I was slightly surprised at the price – over £6.00. When we proceeded to the dining area, we found the service attentive, if a little slow, but that’s understandable in view of the size of our group. The fare was no-frills pub grub – nothing wrong with this at all – but it was overpriced for what it was. Having opted for all three courses, I paid £24.90; those colleagues who had chosen two were charged £17.95. (I believe that those prices apply to group bookings, though). My smoked salmon starter was smoked salmon plus a lump of potato salad swimming in mayonnaise; I didn’t touch the latter, which, to me, looked off-putting. The halibut steak was nice, but the accompanying vegetables were undercooked. By far the best course was the chocolate fondant, for which I would happily award four stars. As a package, however, the meal did not stand out – particularly in view of the price.

Clapham is a pretty village and a great place to visit. The New Inn has always been a characterful pub but it was quite basic. However, when I called in recently for lunch I was pleasantly surprised to see that it has been completely refurbished and is now modern, light and airy. Wheelchair access was easy. Prosecco is served by the glass and there is a good range of real ales. The menu is interesting and varied, with some tasty sounding vegetarian options. I opted for a club sandwich, which was very much a deluxe version and came with chips and side salad. I also had a very good panacotta. My companions were equally pleased with their meals. The Aussie owner was friendly and chatty and his more local understudy was also pleasant. All in all, this was a great re-discovery and I shall certainly be back.

We went to The New Inn on 5 December with 2 other couples, our neighbours, for a festive meal. We are all local and we had been to the New Inn before for a few drinks a few times and had been recommended for an evening meal. We all also eat out regularly at local restaurants. We booked a table for 6 in the dining room. There were approximately 8 other folk eating at another table, the rest of the tables were empty. The bar area seemed full of ambience with many people eating and chatting. We ordered bread and oil to share which was ok. Although the bread came warm it was all white and often you do get a mixture of breads. The dipping oil was poor and insignificant. We ordered a mix of main course - chicken, lamb, pasta. All the main course meal portions were miniscule. However no vegetables appeared with these meals and we weren't asked when ordering if we would like some. We asked for vegetables for all 6 of us and eventually 1 very small saucer of veggies arrived - enough for perhaps 1/2 people. We asked for more vegetables and another saucer arrived some time later - in fact we had just about all finished our main courses!! The sprouts were half cooked and all the vegetables were tasteless. Just not acceptable for this level of dining. We all ordered desserts. We paid the bill which, in fact for what we ate, was excessive. When we had finished our meal we sat at the table chatting - as were the other group of people. 10.20 pm the owner/manager? approached us saying he needed to set our table for breakfast!!! We actually thought he was joking at first. We were all absolutely speechless - as were the other group. We all immediately got up and walked out of the New Inn!!! Unbelievable service. Okay perhaps they did need the tables but why not ask us politely to move into the bar area for coffee. When we got home we were still hungry and both had cheese and biscuits!!My husband and I had organised this gathering and were totally embarrassed by the experience last night. Would like to hear the New Inn response.Janet and Steve

We went to the New Inn in Clapham and the bad service started with us having to ask to have our order taken as we had waited so long. A waiter took our order and did not show us the specials board so we were unaware of some of the dishes available. When our food came my mushroom risotto was actually broccoli risotto and my son's steak pie was actually chicken and bacon and was accompanied by the incorrect potato dish. This was when it became evident that they had failed to show us the specials board. We accepted the incorrect dishes as there was no alternative and we had waited a long time for them to arrive. We then ordered dessert - I ordered Chocolate fondant - there was no detail on the menu of what came with this and I was not offered anything. When it arrived twenty five minutes later with my children's melted ice cream, it had orange sorbet on top - I am allergic to orange so could not eat it. Fortunately my husband swapped desserts with me. The whole experience took 2 hours and when the bill arrived, that too was incorrect. There was very little apology for all these mistakes!

The barman had worked at the pub for a couple of decades and, despite a somewhat gruff exterior, was helpful and engaging. We decided we would not stay to eat when we saw the man who is apparently the current proprietor (and who did not even have the excuse of being busy) deal with a potential customer, a Dutch cyclist, who came in to ask about room vacancies. We were embarrassed for the potential customer whom we considered was patronised. Why have a hotel unless you have grace and courtesy in dealing with visitors including those from overseas - and especially if you are lucky to have one in such a beautiful spot?

We had a drink in the bar and then dinner in the bistro which were both lovely. Friendly staff, nice service. We were leaving by 7am the following morning so took option of packed breakfast to your room. I probably would say this is not a great value option as you pay same as you would for full bed and breakfast but only get some instant porridge, an apple, cereal bar and small bottle of water. Perhaps a slightly lower room rate for this would be fair or a little more breakfast / snack to take with you, yoghurt or some cheese? Absolutely lovely experience though and would definitely return. Lovely young lady served us in the restaurant and made us feel right at home and with no rush even though we were last diners left at end of the evening.

He ensured we were seated in a quiet part of the bar and brought our drinks to the table. He was helping lots of customers(bar, restaurant and hotel) when he was admonished by a gent in a blue polo shirt for leaving a tea towel on the bar in front of customers! It turns out that this man was the owner. His attitude to both customers and staff was laconic and dour all evening to the point of ignoring a customer saying thank you and good night when leaving. He did not come across as the host and didn't match the well decorated and appointed premises. He was talking to a fellow Aussie saying that it was a nightmare place to live because of the roads and having to travel miles for everything! We ordered two starters each as mains and starter. The soup was described as tomato and coriander. The rolls and tomato soup were great and plentiful - however with little evidence of coriander! The mussels were lovely but the sauce was a little tasteless and the scallops/pork belly was delicious. The portions and value were good but the atmosphere generated by the owner needs attention. We would visit again hoping for the same food and initial service with improved hosting.

We were recommended the New Inn as one of three picks in the area, and with our first choice being full, we took an expensive cab ride to Clapham. There wasn't a menu on the hotel's website (other than the pub menu), so I emailed, and having been told it was online, and me replying it wasn't (just a heading with 'new summer bisto [sic] menu), I was directed to their Facebook page. It looked good, so we headed to the hotel looking forward to a rare night out together (we're a couple with a three-year-old, far away from extended family).Turns out the menu on offer is nothing like as interesting. It's much more the bog-standard pub menu, though with clear ambitions - perhaps pretentious - to be more than that. So, disappointed, we got on with it.The food is okay. Nothing better, nothing worse. Portions are small, but what's on the plate tastes fine, as it should for uncomplicated food at a pub at these prices.Because it is pricey for what it is. We live in London, and we would expect more for £17 to £20 for most mains. I'm happy to pay that much, but not for ordinary food.I guess it's all context, and maybe there's nowhere decent to eat in the area, so we should have been glad of it. But it felt dated - ordinary food at gourmet London prices (you can eat at Moro on the same budget). Likewise the decor- think Next in the 1990s. (But I'm told it's so much better than the worn carpets of old.) the atmosphere is really lacking. It has that awkward feel where everyone is speaking in hushed tones, anxious no one can hear them (but they can).I would have much preferred an honest pub with proper foodies at the helm making simple food for better value, or more ambitious meals that match the current prices. The Facebook menu points to someone there facing some ambition.Perhaps the real menu reflects what the locals (older, wealthy) are prepared to pay, and the owners know their business in terms of offering limited, conservative choice. But it felt very much like one of those places that thinks it's better than it really is.Bottom line: if you came to Clapham to escape characterful Yorkshire pubs, and you don't mind what you pay for ordinary, decently cooked food, the New Inn could be a safe port on the storm. If you are coming for something special, or simply expect value for money whatever the price, this place is best avoided.

We didn't stay here, so this is only a review of the food.Firstly, the decor is very up-market - lots of grey Farrow & Ball with silver ornamentation. Classic and classy, while not being ostentatious in the slightest.Secondly, we found the prices gave excellent value for money considering the fantastic quality. A couple of the most beautifully presented starters - my scallops on belly pork were memorable. For two starters, 2 mains, 1 bottle of Malbec (which was superb), a half of beer, an additional glass of white and a couple of coffees came to only £93, including a 10% tip.Thirdly, the quality of the food was excellent. This was one of the best meals my wife and I have ever had. No complaints whatsoever.Lastly, service. Prompt, courteous and efficient. I know it's the done thing these days to call guests "guys", but I do prefer sir and madam - a generational thing, but not a big issue.All-in-all an excellent establishment for an evening meal.

It was an absolutely delightful dinner. Warm and relaxing atmosphere, well designed menu, friendly service. It has one of the best scallops I have ever had in a restaurant and the steak is beautifully done as well. We stayed in the Austwick Hall and only found last minute that only one out of the two local restaurants was open on Monday and fully booked and had to look for alternatives in the nearby villages. We did not expect such a relaxing restaurant with sophisticated cuisine (both taste and layout) at all. So it was indeed a lovely encounter. The owners are very kind and the lady gave us a lift back to our hotel as we don't drive. Highly recommend it for the guests in Clapham and Austwick. It is a very joyful walk in the countryside as well which takes about 40 minutes.

If like us you have been to this pub in the past but haven't been in the last year or so, you will be surprised at the transformation that has taken place. Perhaps best described as a complete interior rebuild rather than a refurbishment. The new owners have made a very comfortable and contemporary place to eat and drink a total change from what it was years ago.We came here after walking up Ingleborough and wanted a meal before we drove back home. They were still serving the daytime menu, the evening menu comes into play at 6pm. We chose the Fisherman's Platter. This came served on a slate, there was a good portion of whitebait, king prawns (they didn't have any mussels), a good portion of smoked salmon and a mound of prawns. All this was served with two types of bread, butter and dips. This was very enjoyable. I ordered a chocolate fondant which was served warm with a mango sorbet. Again a very tastdish. The food here is more like restaurant food rather than typical pub food and the prices of some of the dishes do reflect this. They have a wide range of drinks including some local beers on the handpumps.Certainly worth dropping in.

A good variety of dishes were on offer and the service was excellent by the waiting on staff the owners were very friendly and chatty explaining the work done on the building.Food arrived within twenty minutes of ordering and it did not disappoint beautifully presented on slate plates the side salad was excellent with a lovely oil dressing. We would most defiantly recommend this hostelry and will look forward to another visit.

This was my 3rd visit since the excellent refurbishment and I have yet to be disappointed with the quality of the food.Prior to this visit I checked the New Inn's website and was disheartened to see that information about Valentines' Day and Mothers' Day was still being featured. Not a good sign. An uptodate website is essential as this is often the first thing that prospective customers will research The when selecting somewhere to visit. My son was with me and we both enjoyed our respective meals. The food and its presentation was very good as was the service.

Ate here with a group of hungry tired cyclists on the Way of the Roses. A little more expensive than most of the meals we had on the trip but miles ahead on quality. We had pork belly, which was just delicious but one of our friends made his meal up of two starters and that looked like a perfect choice. He certainly thought so, he knows his food and made a point of seeking out the chef to thank him.

We'd been walking & climbing in the Dales all day so were starving. To be fair 2 friends had a veggie dish & a pie & were happy. However 2 of us ordered Monk fish for £20 each & got what can only be described as a nouvelle cuisine-size arty arrangement in the middle of the plate (carbs aren't expensive) - maybe what you'd expect in a London restaurant but not in a Yorkshire pub. We mentioned this to the helpful waiter & the owner came to find out what was wrong. The complaint was dealt with really well & we were offered the same dish again, which we declined (shared a bowl of chips instead). However we also found out that others had made the same complaint in previous weeks.........hope it's sorted.

We visited for a meal this evening, it was a fabulous experience. Initially we popped in to look at the menu before deciding to book a table. I asked if they were able to provide any options to the menu, Rob said 'ask' we can pretty much make whatever you wish! We chose a table to suit us and returned later for dinner. Well, the food was excellent, fresh, well cooked and thought out, there wasn't a thing we didn't enjoy. Staff were warm and genuinely welcoming and we will defiantly visit again and recommend to family and friends. A big thank you and well done to all at the New Inn!!!! Karen Herbert - Batley

We stopped here for a bite to eat and a drink in the bar whilst on a day out in Clapham. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming, especially to our 3 ½ year old boy - who was encouraged to eat all his dinner with the promise of free ice cream. The 3 of us all had the steak in guinness pie which was very tasty with a choice of chunky chips or creamy mash and a medley of roast vegetables which included baby carrots, green beens, leek and courgette. Needless to say there wasn't a lot of leftovers and true to his promise the ice cream (locally made) was also delivered (with an extra spoon for Mum).We saw a few other plates coming out and all the food looked amazing, whether it be Burgers or Sunday RoastsAside from the food the bar was very clean and well presented with contemporary decor and a few traditional twists. It had a good selection of real ales and wines which the staff seemed knowledgeable of.In summary a great place to stop and rest after a morning or days walking where the staff are warm and welcoming which creates a lovely atmosphere. Well worth a visit if you're in the area.

The gauntlet had been thrown down by the wife, "I hope you are taking me somewhere nice for Mothers Day?!". Instantly I knew that with the arrival of our 3 month old daughter had come an entirely new challenge for one day every year - so I set about looking for an idyllic part of England with a quality restaurant in which to take my family. Instantly The New Inn at Clapham sprung from the webpage, it was just the place I was looking for and looked every bit as clean and tidy from the distance of the photo as it did when we arrived. Reviews lower down this page reporting an Urban feel could not be more further from the truth, the theme is very much nature and the countryside, in a contemporary, chic style. The decoration has been done wonderfully and I for one applaud the owners ability to give the Inn such a clean and bright look yet essentially retain its character. I had called a day or two in advance and had been kindly reserved a table for two along with room to place our daughters pram. On arrival we entered The New Inn via the bar, the staff were attentive, friendly and welcoming, a credit to the Landlord / Lady. We were quickly served and invited to settle down whilst our table was prepared for us. A short while later we were again invited to move to the dining room which was beautifully laid out and impeccably clean. We were welcomed by the Landlord / Lady who were kind enough to attend to our every need, this included assisting us with our previously quiet daughter who had taken it upon herself at this point to demanding to return outside to enjoy the beautiful weather at the exact same time as our starters had arrived...many thanks to the Landlady at this point who kindly assisted in settling our daughter whilst we ate our food, this level of service is above and beyond the usual expectancy of anyone running such an establishment, it truly shows how much the owners and staff care about their customers and the image of The New Inn.The food was beyond EXCEPTIONAL in both presentation and flavour. My wife opted for the Goats Cheese starter and I, the Scallops with Black Pudding, both beautifully served and tasted even better, this again demonstrates that The New Inn has employed the best staff, with the right skills and hasn't shied away from investing in both staff and equipment to ensure there is no façade in terms of 'shiny package with no substance', this restaurant is the real deal, the menu reads well and the Chef's deliver. The main courses chosen were a Roast Beef Dinner and Game Pie, both utterly mouthwatering and generous with exception.Desserts consisted of Chocolate Fondant (utterly utterly divine) and Sticky Toffee pudding (my wife is a stickler) which got top marks for being really fantastic.Overall our experience proved that the 140 mile round trip was well worth it as the visit to The New Inn showed that there is no compromise on quality or customer service at this wonderful Inn, a stand out experience of what can be achieved when you have the right staff, owners and equipment / location that brings together all those elements to give the visitor a memorable experience! I truly look forward to returning and staying overnight next time albeit with a more settled little baby! Many Thanks once again!

On the way to Hawes we passed through Clapham in Yorkshire. The village is charming and we decided to stop and have lunch there . The New Inn pub is really welcoming and there is a good choice of lunch options as well as more substantial meals .As we were eating dinner in the evening at a hotel, we chose to share the hot pork baguette and had a side order of hand made chips which were delicious. The whole meal was faultless , the pork baguette with apple stuffing so tasty and beautifully presented on a slate platter. They also stock real ales and offered us a taste before we decided . A really good place for lunch. Highly Recommended.

The food here is certainly worth going for. An excellent hotel with lovely decor throughout. The meal presentation is like something of a food gourmet tv show and the quality even better. The choice of starters and mains is really varied with meals you would not expect in such a small village. Their website does not show the full menu which is a shame as I am sure it would attract a lot more diners if people could see what is on offer. I stopped here for two nights and the breakfasts were just as good as the dinners. All in all a beautiful little hotel well worth a visit and if you get chance stop the night to take full benefit of all that is on offer. I rate this place ten out of ten and will definitely go back.
