Fascinating place to have lunch. Very interesting decor. Paintings for sale on the walls by local artists. Food was excellent. I can recommend the sweet potato and chickpea curry when it's on the menu. Service was very good.

I've been to this tearoom twice now during the last week and I'd like to say both times I've had really good service and a pleasant positive vibe about the place. The staff were really friendly and even made my dogs welcome. Food was of a really good standard and the coffee is some of the best I have had at a tearoom. The cakes are delicious and irresistible. Well done. Keep up the good work.

We come to this cafe weekly as it’s really friendly with lovely food and such a lovely location. In the winter it’s warm and cosy inside and in the summer it’s lovely to sit on the terrace. The food is good - I especially like the soups in winter. Staff are lovely too.

Disappointing. A quiet location in a Grade 1 timber-framed building. Unwelcoming, off-hand uninterested service. Every table indoors was filthy with crumbs scattered on the surface, although business was quiet with only 3 other tables occupied. Coffee and cake good but brought to table by sullen staff. Shan't come again

Wonderful Afternoon Tea. Many thanks to all the staff for making our visit so special. We were seated outside, with a choice to sit indoors, but on a glorious day we took advantage of the weather and the picturesque views and sat outside. The staff were all friendly and attentive. Afternoon tea was served in two courses savoury, then sweet. The food was faultless and delicious. With an endless supply of tea, l can truly say it was the best Afternoon Tea we have experienced. Many thanks.

Beautiful building and history Yet another dog friendly establishment where dogs mess outside and wipe their backsides on the seats thanks to their owners. Poor quality food, cheap cuts of ham full of fat and cheap cheeses. The Cook is constantly on view messing with his face and waste bin, not once a washing of hands. This building deserves better.

What a find! Booked for afternoon tea and it was amazing. So much food that we had to ask for a takeaway box. The staff were really friendly and the whole place had a welcoming atmosphere. They catered for two vegetarians equally as good as the meat eaters. We will definitely go again and can recommend.

We went last week for afternoon tea, we arrived with a pram, which was no problem. Savourys where lovely, even a cup of homemade soup & followed by cakes & scones , all homemade & delicious. I like them served separately with clean plates. Plenty of fresh tea, a very pleasant couple of hours spent. Didn't feel rushed at all.

The most amazing afternoon tea! This was a mini wedding anniversary celebration. So..where do we start? Don't think a few sarnies and scones...think Fortnums High tea with old world charm. The first course is savoury and we were right not to have breakfast in order to do it justice. The sweet course looks like they raided the WI cupboard with a fantastic range of homemade cakes. The atmosphere is friendly, attentive and comfy. The food exceptional and not gimmicky. We are telling everyone we know to visit.

Visited here with a few friends on Saturday and I must say I wasn’t that impressed. We all ordered separately but from the 5 of us only one ordered food (a full English breakfast). This, which I believe tasted fine arrived about 10 minutes after being ordered which is fine, the issue however is that it took at least another 10 - 15 minutes after that for the 3 coffees that we had ordered between us to be delivered to our table. The tearoom was not busy when we were there, probably another 3 or 4 people in there in addition to us so I personally don’t think that a 25 minute wait on a few coffees is that great.

We chose Bishop Percy's as a place to go for an afternoon tea, celebrating with our daughter on her special birthday, and I'm so glad we did. We all said that it was the best afternoon tea we've ever had. So tasty and plenty to eat, we asked for a box to take some cake home for later! There's lots of other delicious food on the menu if you didn't want afternoon tea. It's a lovely place and we all enjoyed it very much .

We always look forward to our weekly breakfast (& occasional lunch) at Bishop Percys. The 16th Century building has been sympathetically furnished and there is always a warm welcome. Nothing is too much trouble when a variation to the menu is requested, providing it's in stock. The food is freshly prepared and we can't fault it. The staff are happy and friendly so there is always a pleasant atmosphere where there is a good mixture of locals and visiting tourists. Definitely worth a visit - breakfast, lunch or even a coffee and homemade cake.

Disappointed with recent visit, did not feel Covid secure. Entrance door was shut meaning everyone needed to use the door knob to gain entry, when door could realistically be left open. No table service, we had to both order and pay at the till, which shocked me. Tables were too close together and staff were half hearted with their mask usage. Exit and one way system was not clearly sign posted and many customers were confused and exited through the entrance. Access to the toilet meant going against the one way system.Full English breakfast was reasonably priced but sadly only average quality. A great shame as it is a beautiful, historic building.

Just read a review from 3 weeks ago about poor Covid 19 arrangements with a reply it was going to be looked into. Went this week and was disappointed about the apparent lack of concern from the waiting staff, masks off and on apparently at random, off at tables when speaking to customers, on again when standing around. Tables too close together inside (outside better), one way system half-heartedly advertised and adheres to, tables half wiped between customers. Food was very nice, hope the hygiene in the kitchen was better.
