Bill's Fish and Chip Shop in High Peak

Asked for a lightly battered fish. Fish we got had very thick batter and was very very greasy it was disgusting and very disappointing it went in the bin ,waste of money, chips were also very poor all ends. I would not call this place a gastro chippy. The amount you pay for fish and chips should be better quality

I come here every now and again for a chippy tea, The food here is absolutely delicious 😋 and always hot every time the staff are friendly and welcoming and the prices are very reasonable. 😁

Served very quickly on Friday, 5.45 ish. Really nice chips, and a good big fish ( normal order). Would recommend.

Had a chip butty for £2.70 as i needed a quick bite to eat in between journeys. In my opinion £2.70 is expensive for a chip butty but if it had been a decent portion it wouldn't have been so bad. Unfortunately not the case, really small and the chips were luke warm and dried up. Really poor, it was only 5pm. Won't be back.

Been going here since I first moved to Buxton 12 years ago. Always been the best chippy in Buxton. Fresh quality food at a reasonable price! Highly recommend it.

if you like a big chip in you tray of plate then you get nice cripy chips here, the gravy and peas combo are to be tried if you want some of the best chips and other combinations you can have, really enjoyed the meal and the price is average.

Only a 12 minute walk from the railway station,just passed the Wetherspoons, had the hot and spicy chicken strips and chips, gurt lush,friendly service, would recommend

We had a takeaway on a Saturday night which was delicious all round. The children had a pizza each, pepperoni pizza and hunters chicken pizza. The later was a real hit! My husband and I both had the cod meal deal- cod, chips and a side of your choice (we had mushy peas) which was really yummy. Good size fish with tasty batter and good chips. We phoned through our order first and it was ready on collection. Worth the 10 minute from our holiday cottage.

We got a takeaway from here during during a week's stay in Buxton. We had two Haddock's and one large Chips, fish cooked to order. Fish was very tasty, batter not too thick. Be warned, parking is very difficult.

I went to bills for our dinner. Wasn’t greeted properly, found the food expensive for what we had. The pudding had hardly any meat or gravy in and the portion size was terrible for the price. We came home and gave my 13 month old son some chips with peas whicj he choked on as they were totally under cooked and rock solid, I then rang to be told they must of missed a few! Never eating there again, terrible service and terrible under cooked food

Always great food & great service. Phoned up to order in advance as parking can be tricky. Love the smaller portioned lite bites. Recommended.

Wanted an inexpensive filling dinner, the problem with being on a travelling holiday is every cafe \ restaurant has a desire to serve up grub with Micheline star prices, so £12 for two eat in fits the bill - basic cafe but friendly peeps & in better condition than The Palace'. Plenty of free on street parking and couple minutes walk to finish of the meal at Witherspoon and a cheap refreshing pint.

Nice chippy. Busy at times this is the nicest chippy of them all in Buxton. If you like big scallops the ones here are humongous.

Bills fish and chips is a great fish and chip shop with good food. I have the cod special and the portions are always generous. A little more expensive than other Buxton fish and chip shops but the best quality.

Went to order for around 10 people on the phone and were told to look at the Facebook page for prices first. These prices were not only different to the ones on the shops website, but also to the actual prices in store. After being unsuccessful on the phone we decided to just order in the shop to save the hassle, where we were told completely different prices again.

Great chippy with very good food. Fish, Chips, Puddings all lovely. The only complaint is that they don't open Mondays.

Had a lovely chippy tea from here last week, there was plenty of choice on the menu for what you wanted and they offered good deals and chippy to car service. Had a small fish and chips and these were both really tasty. Staff were pleasant and there was also table and chair if you wanted to eat in. It was well worth coming and having a take-away.

No-frills take-away Fish and Chips with a small Café area. All usual chip shop fare, including Cod, Haddock, Homemade Fishcake, Sausages, various size portions chips: 'regular', 'Large' and 'Sharing'. Corned beef hash fritters, Onion rings, Pies, Puddings and Burgers. Open every day!

Un salto después de un día de ciclismo a lo largo del sendero monsal con la familia y queríamos un lugar para sentarse y comer.

Pasando a través de Buxton encontramos este lugar (o tendría que decir solla) a través de la buenas críticas en Tripadvisor. Bill no me decepcionó. Las porciones de tamaño eran lo suficientemente grandes para satisfacer el hambre, pero para evitar el despilfarro (odio eso). Todo recién cocinado y servido con una sonrisa. Deliciosa y fresca. Gente afortunada buxton.

Estábamos de paso por hoy tras días Buxton en coche. Buscando un lugar para comer cuando Bill capturado nuestro ojo. Mejor aún tienen un pequeño comer en la sección, así que no tuvimos que comer en el coche. Pensamos pescado y patatas fritas era de buena calidad y todo fresco. Empanada se derretía en la boca. Todo muy sabroso. No tenemos quejas.

Aparcamiento nocturno en Buxton pensé que iba a haber pescado, patatas fritas y salsa de curry costo £6. 40, el precio medio de la apertura de la caja de pescado era bastante pequeña para el precio de 3 libras. 95 (podría haber sido un poco más grande pieza) generosa porción de patatas fritas, salsa de curry no está mal. La próxima vez voy a probar más el hindú para llevar en la carretera

Estábamos cerca de camping en el Parque Nacional así que era agradable para tomar una comida que no tiene que cocinar para mi última noche de camping, comí patatas fritas pescado y guisantes y era preciosa, abundante y bien preparada.

Pedimos nuestra comida y se sirve rápidamente, sentado en la tienda real para comer, el personal era amable y la comida era buena, ¿qué más puedes pedir?

Manejado profesionalmente, muy eficiente. Cod es simplemente el mejor que he tenido! El único lugar donde hemos pescado n chips en Buxton para mí!

Así que pedí: 3 x las patatas, salchichas y 3 x 3 x salsa curry

The best fish and chips in Buxton, and very VERY cheap! I would recommend this takeaway, it is now the only place I will go if I fancy a quick meal

Checked on Tripadvisor prior to our visit to Buxton last Tuesday, we had the special for £5 99 Fish, chips and mushy peas, freshly cooked whilst we waited at the table probably the best fish and chips ever.The batter on the fish was so crispy it was lovely. Allin all great value

Visited today for lunch , decided to eat in rather than take the food home , we had haddock chips and peas and homemade fishcake chips and peas and I have to say it's by far the best in Buxton , thank you , we will most definitely be visiting again in the future

We had seen Bill's Fish and Chip Shop on TripAdvisor and decided to give them a go when we visited Buxton on our holiday. We were not disappointed, these were the best chips I've had in a long time and great value for the massive portion. Lucky people who live in Buxton and get to have these all the time!

Came to buxton a couple of years ago and ate at chippy plaice (?) and it was very good. Went back there this year and it was terrible. So, internet research brought me to bill's. And it's pretty good. Nice peas, better than average chips. Sadly, the cod, sustainable as it is, wasn't very tasty. i'd give it 6.5 out of 10.

Absolutely amazing food!! Chips were cooked to perfection, the sausage was amazing and the gravy was spot on! The best chippy ive had in ages, will definitely be going here again!!!

We had lovely fish and chips yesterday, freshly cooked. They were tasty, good quality and substantially cheaper than another chippy in the town centre that was poor.There are a few tables to eat in. Worth a visit!

Really large and crisp portions of fish and chips, along with related dishes. It was clear that this was a fixture in its surrounding neighborhood, providing active delivery to nearby homes on the Friday night we experienced. There are a few tables for eating in. In summer weather, next to the open kitchen, it was hot inside. Great fish and chips, though.

Tried Bills Fish and Chips as it was recommended. One word .... Fantastic. This was the best fish and chips I've had in years. All fish is fried to order and is completely fresh. Bill's also has a few sit in tables if that's what you want. Nice touch too they will bring your order to your car if you are parked on the street. Definitely a must try.

We visited bill's today and wasn't disappointed ..... one of the best we will definatly be visiting again!!

One of the better ones in Buxton, not as greasy or oily as others and do some specials which is always good. Could benefit from slightly bigger portions though.

We rung the order in picked up and food was cold when we got it home we only live 10 minutes away. Portion size was not worth the price paid.

Found this recommendation on Trip Advisor and it is indeed a good place for food. The service was very quick and the staff very friendly. Several portion sizes of chips were available and we were able to buy a bottle of vinegar as we were taking the food away to eat at our holiday cottage. Chips tasted great (no soggy ones!) and looked hand cut.

I used to go to bills as kid only went to buxton to see relations and family business and they sold Cornish pasties went there last night and they didn't sell any so had fish instead that was cooked fresh so it was all good but still not as good as Cornish pasty bring back bill and Margaret they new how i liked the Cornish pasty and was a lot more friendlier

Every time cooked to perfection , nice large fish, big portion of chips, we all love them .been to all chippies in Buxton ,and this wins hands down, never been let down .

They sat as down quickly and took our order fairly quickly, then we waited, and waited, and waited. It took ages for our order to arrive. When it did, the food was reasonable. It was proper fish and chips and I was suppose worth the wait. It would have been nice if someone had warned us there was a long wait or at least apologised.

Just had the Cod chips and peas Both my wifes and mines cod was the worst i have had in many years It was freshly cooked, we asked for it to be "well done .I wondered whe i saw a quick glimpse of the fish going in the batter and we were proved correct .When we got it back to were we were staying Oh dear it was grey watery old , the batter was crisp on the top and looked good but was soggy mush underneath . Chips and peas very good hot and plenty of them Im sorry but compaired to back home HULL It was third rate service was superb

Chips are traditional British not Chinese style :-) Pies and Fish to perfection.

I visited early evening on a cold day in November but was warmed by the good service and excellent quality of the cod & chips, really well cooked and tasty as fish n chips should be.
