Bilash Spice in East Staffordshire

Went to bilash after row with current partner. Took our own carling and villa maria private bin. Food was good. Staff were nice. Not rowing (rowing that is not rowing) afterwards. What can you say.

This was my first visit, although several friends have been and recommended it. I want disappointed. The food was good. The surroundings, clean and quite modern. You have to bring your own alcohol though as they don't send it on the premises.

We had a really nice meal. Staag chicken, asked for extra chillies and was perfect.The service was great. The price was very reasonable.

We visited the Bilash as to treat our friends for their 25th wedding anniversary. We booked early sitting because it gets very busy. The service started well and our starters were very nice. As it got busier the service went down the pan! My main course was a lamb dish in which I counted 5 pieces of chewy lamb. I ordered a roti and 3 times I was brought a plain naan. As if I wouldn’t know what a roti looked like. I gave up in the end and accepted the naan which was horrible as it had obviously been warmed up each time they took it away! To top it off several times a waiter tried to take away our glasses of water which we were all drinking, they were obviously short of glasses. Also my husband went to pay the bill at the bar. He had his coat on his chair and we still had drinks to finish and the same waiter who wanted our glasses tried to take my husbands chair to put at another table. So rude! They really need to learn some etiquette. We were so disappointed for our friends who we’d taken out as a celebration because it wasn’t very nice and just made us feel unwelcome.

Very slow and poor service Over 2 hour wait and owner said that this was normal and didn’t see the issue🤷‍♀️ Chaos on who got served ( seems you have to shout loud to get your food first!) Takeaway business appears to be more important

Food beautiful as always but the service Was shocking .very bad service. Table booked for 8pm didn't get table till gone 8.30 nearly 8.45 .it was packed but concentrated on take outs rather than table service

Bilash is our favourite Indian restaurant. The staff are so friendly and the food is excellent. Very happy to cater to your dietary requirements and will even make something for you that’s not on the menu. We have been gutted not been able to go there during lockdown. So happy as they now do delivery!!!

Have been to the Fradley Bilash but not the Burton previously.The food was lovely.The service excellent.We were spaced well apart from other customers.The meal was excellent value for money.The service was excellent. Well done

Food was pretty good and excellent value as its take your own alcohol,, had pre booked on a saturday night but table was late and had to stand in the busy reception area, some customers chose not to wear masks and even some staff had their masks only half on . clearly no tables have been taken out and the place was packed so not for the feint hearted if you are looking for social distancing, it was very noisy and lots of customers complaining of waiting times and delays in getting their bills. I will come back mid week but not on a weekend again

First visit post lockdown.Eat out to help out. Where do I start? No social distancing. No sign of tables or chairs being sanitized. Condiments and menu ditto.Staff masks worn, butbelow the mouth.Service very poor. Under staffed. Waited 75 minutes for main course to arrive. Main course, chickenmadala. Consisted of 5 chunksof chicken in a thin, eatery "sauce". No vegetables. "You have to ask" was the respinse.Luckily the meal was half price. The Bilash used to be 10/10 but change if staff had seen it go downhill.Customers arriving half an hour after us got their meals before us. At the third time of asking, and 75 minutes sfter we had ordered, the "meal" arrived.

Come here a lot and can’t fault it. Food is always 10/10 and staff very friendly. I always come here knowing I will be very satisfied, it’s become a tradition to come here with the family, we love it!

Just had a meal here and it was superb. I had a chicken and mushroom Balti and my wife had a chicken tikka, both dishes were delicious. The restaurant has hand sanitizer at the entrance and the seating enabled social distancing. The service was good and the restaurant was not too busy . It is great to be back

My favourite place to go for a meal by far! Such friendly staff, very welcoming. The food is so nice, definitely worth the money

We came here for a family meal, 9 of us in total. We were seated promptly..... We ordered poppadoms and dips, then ordered several starters. I personally had the tandoori fish and it was delicious. Our mains were ordered and again we all had different meals, I had mixed meat vindaloo, jeera rice and a keema naan bread and again was not disappointed in the quality, although the vindaloo was lacking in the meat department. Everyone else was pleased with the food. We will definitely be returning soon

Like going here but the service is getting worse. Booked for 7pm and after 30 minutes had to ask for someone to take our order. Had poppadoms and starters then waited a very long time for our mains. We asked how long it would be and the food then arrived shortly after. One of our party asked for a jug of water and was told “you’ll have to wait madam you’ve just asked for you’re food”. Not how you expect to be dealt with. It seems they cram as many people in as possible but haven’t got the staff to cope with numbers.

After 2 hours still waiting for our food. Table isn’t big enough for our party and a birthday night out has been completely ruined. First and last ever visit here

Our favourite go to Indian.Food, as always, was excellent, and the staff, when they have time to talk to you, are very friendly.The restaurant is always very busy and sometimes there is quite a wait for the meal. We go at 6.30pm and even at this time the restaurant was quite full and a small wait for the meal was experienced.The Food though is worth the wait.

Booked a table for a group of friends nearly 2 and a half hours later we had still only had a starter.First we were asked to place an order when we hadn't even been given menu's.We then had to ask for our starters after an hour of waiting.We knew it was busy but when people who had walked in after us and they got their food before us was just a complete joke.When we asked where our main courses were.we were told they were having problems in the kitchen.What service we did have was shocking.Really Disapointing.

Love the food at this restaurant and always dine in but decided to have a takeaway this time. Was told our order would be ready for collection in 20 minutes but wasn’t ready when we arrived to collect it. 30 minutes later we actually got our food. Yes it was busy and if we had been told over the phone the wait would be longer that would of been ok but it’s annoying arriving on time and having to sit and wait an extra 30 minutes in a tiny seating area with people bumping into you as they walk past.The food was delicious as always once we eventually got home to eat it!

This is the best Indian in the area. Actually I ordered the Dhansak and it’s the best I’ve ever had. The staff are really friendly. It’s just the small things but after eights are provided after the meal, a lot of sauces provided free with popadoms which isn’t the case for other Indians near-by. Quality of food is excellent. Bring your own bottle as well!

One of my favourite Indian restaurants. You could spend twice as much and the quality and service would not be any better.

We have been to the Bilash many times over the past 3 years, the currys are always great especially the imlee bhuna and the garlic chilli chicken.The only down side is sometimes during peak hours and weekend nights service can be a little slow but the staff and management are extremely friendly

It was my Wife's Birthday at the very end of May & we decided to treat our immediate family to a meal at the Bilash Spice.

We went to the Bilash this evening for a family meal. The service was amazing and everyone really went the extra mile to make our experience the best it could be. The food was delicious & everyone enjoyed both their starters and their main courses. The Bilash is really good value too, we’ll be back! Thank you!

This restaurant is a great find. You can take ALL your own drinks which really cuts down on the costs and that is a magnificent plus. On the back of that, this establishment is always busy so get there early if you get booked a table.

This place is well know locally and gets very busy.

Very tasty food , good portion sizes and very good value for money. What more can you ask? Chicken shashlik particularly enjoyable.

Regularly visit with friends and staff are always welcoming and polite. Food is always spot on and for the money you pay there can't be any complaints. Nice to have a good curry house literally round the corner!

Booked for family as a treat for my daughter who was due back at Uni next day. On previous visits the service was top class and the food always decent but this time around the service was well under par.

Was introduced to Bilash last year and what a delight it is. As I don't live locally so don't get to visit too often but wow the food is delicious and the service excellent. Best to book as it's very popular!

What a wonderful experience. Super welcome, very friendly,helpful and attentive service. The food was simply excellent, with a very wide selection. Great value for high class and good size portions. Difficult to improve on.

Visited the Bilash for the first time on a Saturday night,and the place was absolutely packed,which is always a good sign. We were welcomed by the friendly staff got seated within few minutes. The atmosphere was brilliant,the starter chicken tikka puri and special mix served hot and fresh and the puri was very crispy. The mains took a little time to arrive but it was well presented specially the kasia lamb which was absolutely delicious,the nan bread was well cooked hot and tasted very fresh. We all thoroughly enjoyed the night, and will definitely be returning very soon!!

First visit to this restaurant - it was a cold evening & the restaurant had no heating on so it was cold in the restaurant, (maybe due to the doors being left open with people in & out for takeaways) my wife even left her coat on during the meal! We had to wait 50 minutes for starter, we hoped it would be worth the wait, but no! We both had Garlic mushroom puree expecting it to taste of garlic, but not even a hint of garlic, the puree was undercooked so still doughy & starter was also cold! For main we order a main course each & a mushroom rice & garlic & coriander nan bread to share between us, my wife is a vegetarian so was surprised to see the mushroom rice she had ordered had half a prawn on top of it - luckily we had no allergies to shell fish! the garlic & coriander nan was just a plain nan with basically 1 coriander leaf chopped up & sprinkled on top - again not even a hint of garlic!! Very disappointed - even portion size was small & restaurant very noisy - so won't be visiting again! Unable to put zero rating so had to leave 1 rating.

Consistently good food, great value for money. Always busy mid week, food can take a while but is cooked to order and the kitchen deals with the take away orders as well. Well worth waiting for. Take you own drinks as they are not licensed

We booked a table for 8pm arrived at 7.45 and quite suprised table was ready. Unusually quite for a Saturday night, did fill up more as we left.

Invited here for a birthday party and found it to be a very busy and popular restaurant

So this was my first time coming here , I was told by my wonderful girlfriend and her mother that this place is amazing , they weren't Wrong.

After being out of the area for some weeks, we returned to s favourite haunt. The food as always was great. Service can be slow, but everything is cooked fresh to order, and it generally gets very busy, but definitely worth watching for. Highly recommended

Visited again after a disappointing last visit and I'm pleased to say that this time the service and food was back to its normal high standards

Family of 5 got seated at 7pm, had to wait over an hour for mains, unacceptable especially as we saw others served mains after we ordered. Worst of all, my nephew and I had chicken tikka masala main meals and we only just made it home in time to the toilet with very upset tummies. Definitely will not be returning!!!

Had a really good night out, the food was all really tasty except for the butter chicken which was not very nice. Service was ok and staff were friendly. We will definitely return.

We love this little gem of a place. It’s friendly and the food is always excellent! My tip is to book and go early to avoid the busy period, as it’s a really popular place.

Booked a table for 7pm on a Friday night. Got there slightly early and just ordered a main. Had to wait until after 8pm for our meal to arrive. Totally unacceptable. What made it more upsetting was the fact that people were coming in for takeaways and being served before anyone sitting in the restaurant.

Booking a table for 7:30 as we always do a good idea because upon arrival the place was packed. After sitting there for 40 minutes and not having our order taken or anything I had to remind the waiter that we were there. It then took another 10 minutes for poppadoms to come and another further 15 minutes two place our actual order . This is very unusual for the Bilash as friends and I eat here quite regularly so I was extremely disappointed with the level of service that we got . Unfortunately the food wasn't up to its normal standard either certain parts were burnt black and not as tasty as normal I can only put this down to the fact that the restaurant was extremely busy and possibly understaffed . I will definitely think twice about going again.

4 of us visited on a Wednesday and the restaurant was full.

Rang to book a table for 7:30 for 5 people and space for a pushchair, guy on the phone kept saying “name pushchair?” To which we clarified we need space for a pushchair where he said “okay” and hung up the phone. Turned up for our table on the night and the place was packed not a table in sight, went up to say we had reserved a table and he said there was no reservation made, there are no tables snd we could wait around for a table but our party would be split into two halves on each side of the restaurant. Wont be returning, always a ridiculous wait for food when sat-in and food is always late for takeaway. More concerned with ramming customers in for money and not to give them a good experience. Have waited over 2 hours for food before!!! Food is nice when it finally arrives but the whole experience lets it down.

Visited here on a saturday night it was very busy well worth booking a table. Its take your own drinks . Food is very good and not to expensive. The night we went it was very noisey . I would go back again

Moved to the Burton area from Walsall and have struggled to find a curry house to match those in and around Birmingham.

We visited as usual for our wedding anniversary. Arrived slightly early and seated straight away. Came over to take our order started with popudoms and pickles and very nice. We shared a starter which was Imlee a think first time for us and both enjoyed. We had a little wait for our main but we're quite happy to chat and have a drink. Place by 8.00pm was very busy and lots of people collecting takeaways. We did have my meal come not as ordered but wife was right. I ordered a lamb dish but changed from mild to madras. The meal which arrived I could see was chicken decided to try it and although only medium hot was very nice so kept it. Not sure but may be some one got my madras. Overall very pleased with our meals as normal.

I'm a Brummie who now lives in Burton and to be honest, finding a decent curry has been nothing short of impossible.

This place serves amazing food and it's decently priced as well. If I had one criticism it would be that it took a while to get our first dishes, but on the flip the food is cooked fresh so it's both a positive and negative.

Went a couple of weeks ago with friends.The meal was excellent.the place is very clean and the service was really goodStaff very friendly

Picked up a take away, order a chicken jalfrezi and mushroom fried rice. The rice was very greasy and the so called jalfrezi was more like a Tesco basic curry, not even slightly warm in spice. Poor curry.

We have tried the Bilash on five occasions recently including a Speciial Birthday meal, we have thoroughly enjoyed the place each time, the food has been top quality, you have to wait but that is a testament to the freshness of the cooking, your also able to watch the Chefs prepare and cook your food to order through the huge window to the kitchen, Bring your own booze and enjoy the experience it's worth a visit, we have tried lots of Indian Restaurants in Derby and Burton region and we find the Bilash to be the best for taste and quality of the dishes, we love the Jalfrezi, Balti, Parthia and have not found a place with such consistency to deliver excellent food, nice staff, it also provides an excellent take away as well, we'll be back soon, it's always a busy and buzzing place

17 of us had a lovely meal at Bikash Spice last night. It was clean and we had good service from the helpful waiters. I had Chicken Tikka Masala and it was very well cooked and tasted great - cost was around £8 per head and as we could take our own alcohol its an inexpensive way to have an Indian meal with family and friends .

Turned up at the Bilash Spice around 7.30 Saturday evening with no reservation very busy. The Guy at the bar said no problem take a seat he would find us a table . Half an hour later we had a table ordered our food and opened our drinks ( take your own they have no licence provide glasses no corkage ) five minutes later the poppadoms and salad arrived. No complaints about service staff were fine. The main meals arrived twenty minutes later and were all very good we were not hurried as the busy period seems to be earlier rather than later. Just under fifty quid for four was very good value and we will return.

Sons 18th surprise party 31 of us and everything was amazing,service,food, everyone commented on how great it was, 1 person has a very bad onion allergy so is usually worried about eating out, but nope made her 2 Currys seperate, nothing was to much trouble huge THANKYOU

Went here last night, table booked for 6.30 seated straight away. Didn't get our mains until 8.30. By this time we were all hungry and fed up. Tried to catch the attention of the staff, but no one wanted to come to you. We were not the only ones, heard the table behind us complaining too. Meals dished up on cold plates and meal only just warm, and sparse it was too. Not enough staff in either the kitchen or restaurant area. Felt sorry the the folk who came for take away, who seemed to take priority needless to say over the restaurant.

Four of us ate at the Belash last week and the service and meal was exceptional I unreservedly recommend this restaurant.

Best value for money Curry in burton. Another takeaway last night which was to a high standard as ever. As per usual they made me my unique naan bread which was perfect.

Been going for years and never had a problem. Always the same reliable restaurant that we know and love, excellent takeaway too with 25% off which is wonderful. Only downside is that it sometimes gets quite noisy but can't be helped, and very rarely a long wait but only if it's super packed. Try to get there early as most people go for around 7:30, so get in before then. Overall a wonderful place, definitely worth a visit!

We used to enjoy going but we went on a Thursday night about 2 weeks ago and had a table for 7pm. We didn't get our starter until 8.10pm which is the 2nd time this has happened recently and puts us off going again. The meal was average and I wonder if they have changed their kitchen staff in the last 12 months as there seems to have been a decline in the quality of the food.

Ordered Chicken and King Prawn Balti. Myself and my fellow diner could only find 5 shrimps in our meal and our understanding of King Prawns is certainly not the Bilash spice one.The Balti however was of excellent taste and next time just the Chicken Balti for me. Just glad I did not order the King Prawn Dupiaza.Will return though as the meals ordered were very tasty.

We've visited this restaurant many times now. The food is fantastic great value for money and you can take your own drink which is a bonus. The menu is very good,staff are very friendly, but be warned, best to book as this place gets busy!!! Although u to busy we have never waited long to be served. Booked a table for 8.30 had to wait 20 mins to be seated.Food and service are alway good. Menu has great choice.

As regulars to the Bilash Spice at Fradley we chose to check out the Burton venue. The waiter at our table was attentive and knowledgeable. A special mix for starters alround was soon on the table and after a short break we tucked into various mains, King Prawn Balti Rogan, Tawa Chicken, Chicken Tikka Masala, Kufta Bhuna, and a very large Biriani. Sag Panir, Sag Aloo, Bombay Potatoes and Pilau Rice. I think there was at least three different breads ordered and a roti. The dishes arrived together and no hint of a miss on the table. Some food was left over, and put down to eating too much bread. Staff bagged up that meal as it was too good to leave - even threw in a nan bread too!Altogether It was an impressive introduction, more so, as we had not booked and visited on spur. We shall return soon.

We were regular visitors to The Bilash in Fradley near Lichfield before moving to Burton. We were delighted to learn that this is run by the same people.The food is excellent, a friendly welcome and great value for money. The restaurant is unlicensed so diners can bring their own drinks, or pop to The Co-op next door if need be. Every dish we try is superb, meat is tender and tasty, king prawns are a decent size and never overcooked. Portions are generous, and we can recommend the prawn dhansak and chicken sagwahlla and my husband never deviates from the chicken tikka balti and Bilash special mix as a starter!Cannot recommend highly enough. Great choice, great taste and great service.

My wife and i went to the Bilash a few times recently. We have to say we were impressed. The menu is extensive, with Chefs recomendations and all the classics. Our Onion Bhajis were nice and soft , served with salad and sauces. The Minty Lamb was one of the best ive had. My wifes Madras just right and our Mushroom Rice was very tasty. Generous portions too. Yes we had to wait a short time but not bothered on a night out, plus the place was nearly full. Top marks for letting us bring our own drinks in, instead of overcharging like a lot of places. Also the bill for the above was one of the lowest ive had for same food in a long time.

Another great evening out with friends. Lamb tawa was just top draw, great friendly service, everyone in the group loved the food with great value for moneyIt's become my second home!

We've not been for some time but bizarrely we got the exact same table as we had last time probably 18 Months ago! The atmosphere was as great as ever and food/ service really good as it has been previously. Starters were superb but we felt ('we' being my fiancé and I) that the mains lacked the quality they had in the past. Just lacked the flavour we remembered from previous visits. At £63 for a two course 4 4 u cannot knock it for VFM.

This use to be such a good restaurant but something has happened and I'm not sure what. Booked well in advance for 8 people for 7.30pm. Arrived in plenty of time but made to wait for nearly an hour for our table! Not happy, as this was a birthday celebration. Food was as good to ok (sadly nothing special) but as it had been such a long wait for the "pre booked" table, it had already spoilt the night.What a shame, so disappointed and probably won't go back again.

Outstanding food here always has been as we have been coming here since it opened maybe fifteen years ago. Get on well with the staff and always have a bit of banter. Look forward to next timeTakeaway or sit down.

Recently visited here with a group of seven family members. We all had a great meal, great atmosphere and friendly staff. All of us had a fantastic curry and very reasonably priced !!Great restaurant the best Indian in burton

Love this establishment. The food is of a good standard and good value. Nice surroundings. I think that the staff could try to be a bit more friendly/kindly. On the whole great food.

We prefer Bilash to other balti restaurants in Burton. Regulars will know that everything is cooked from scratch, so food can take a while to arrive at your table. It is always worth waiting for and we really enjoyed our meal last night. If you need anything, all you have to do is ask! See you again soon!

There are so many good curry houses in Burton I'm not prepared to keep returning to Bilash with their slow and unfriendly service. The Balti's are very good, and I like the fact that you can take in your own booze, but God they are miserable. And so slow.

We had a great meal out, the food was really outstanding and the fact that you can take your own drink ensures that you get your favourite tipple! The menu is excellent and if there was one fault to pick it was because of the popularity the service was a little slow. but it was a cracking meal and worth the little wait!

Had a takeaway last night ordered at 1700,they open at 1800,was told to collect 1820,never got food till 1835, got home to dish up and 2 portions of rice missing, phoned up to complain they were very apologetic. When I told them this was the 2nd time as New Year's Eve had a main course missing he started stuttering, food was nice but I'll NOT be going again,

Booked a table for six of our business colleagues. It was really embarrassing and I have been put off returning to Bilash Spice in Burton. After 20 minutes of arriving we had not even been given a menu. When we asked to see the menus we were given one between two. The food was slow arriving and the environment crowded and extremely noisy. One table of guests in particular had no respect for anybody else eating that night and ironically were ordering chicken and chips. I realise these people were not the staffs responsibility but sorry if this is what you have to contend with when eating at the Bilash I will not be returning. My guests did not enjoy their meal either. It was embarrassing. Due to restaurant being very busy the service was very poor.

I have to say the food I had at bilash is the best Indian I've had in a very long time. Will defiantly be back to try a few more of there dishes! Would defiantly recommend!

Food is always really good, though the wait can be off putting. Very friendly staff. Taking your own drinks makes this a cheap night out.

We have become regulars to this lovely curry house and I can't rate it highly enough. They do get busy so you need to book but I've never had a bad meal and the staff are Very attentive.

Our local curry house serving fantastic freshly cooked food. You need to book however as they don't rush and don't rush their diners they often don't have your table ready. Take your own beer or wine, there is a coop conveniently next door, excellent value x
