Big joe's fish and chips Windsor in Windsor and Maidenhead

Hot and reasonable value as fish seems mega expensive these days. However, the cod and plaice we had were like minows and the batter far outweighed any fish. Very greasy too.

Food was piping hot as it’s freshly cooked while you wait. Very clean shop. The staff are very friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend this chippy

I started using this fish shop when it opened it was good but now the staff get orders wrong. Especially the tall big young Asian lad he gets it wrong every time I just had large dinner and small chips no s & v I ended up with large chips with S & v. It was cold. Tasteless and very greasy I will not go there again

Went here with my partner and made a huge order for the family, 40 quids worth of food. Including a potion of 10x prawns and cod bites. When we got home we opened our box of codbites which were like scraps of fish. Really disappointed. Then we opened our prawns to find only 8 in the box. I phoned and explained and recieved a sorry, to which I replied well we have ordered our dinner and it's just not right, they said they would redo it. 10 minutes. So I drove back from 10 mins away to arrive and have a box pushed towards me, i opened the box to find 4 over cooked tiny chunks of fish and no prawns. I just pushed the box back and told them to forget it. We will not be back. And we used to come here often. We were put off by their chicken doner kebab the week before which was reheated tandoori style chicken with a pitiful amount of salad in a tortilla wrap. Unlike any kebab I've ever had before. Sorry but you've lost is as customers now.

I purchased sausage and chips at Big Joe's when I got home I took a bite of the sausage and the texture didnt taste right in my mouth. When I cut it open it was clearly not cooked thoroughly. I took the sausage i purchased back to the shop. I could not believe the ladies angry abusive attitude towards me. Repeatedly saying u had purchased it over an hour ago. I do not live on the same road and the time was absolutely irrelevant to the sausage not being cooked. She then said they are cooked... what do you want another sausage I replied no thank you I just thought i would being it to your attention. Her attitude then started speaking extremely rude and kept repeating go and throw it in the bin this was said 5 times. I then replied I will leave the sausage here thank you. As I left she shouted f*ck you, you stupid f**king bitch, her attitude was absolutely disgusting and rude. I left the shop ... this was purchased between 5.30-6.30pm on Thursday 30th January. I was fortunate I only suffered one bout of stomach cramps and diahorrea as I had only had one small bite I have photographic evidence which clearly shows

Excellent hot and freshly cooked traditional food served professionally and with a friendly and cheerful attitude. Despite the fact that they dealt with approx another 15 customers in between my order, it was nothing but efficient and tasted very good!

I bought large cod and it tasted good but still had the slight oily after taste hours later. If only they could resolve this then it would be perfect. I think the best fish and chip shops get the oil to a high temperature so that the batter isn't oily.

Friendly staff, good food and convenient location for me. The prices are low and the food is worth it. Always serve me as quick as possible and happy to help with my pregnant partners cravings 🤣

Five days a week I’m working in Windsor, maybe five times a year I enter into the potluck world of deep-fried food. As an Island nation, the UK doesn’t understand seafood, as a small family run fish and chip shop in a blink and you’ll miss it neighbourhood in Windsor, Big Joe’s understands fish and it is good. In three months I have eaten at Big Joes three times. It is a 20 minute walk from where I am staying and the reason is because it is good. Let’s talk fish and chips. You need to wait, forget that traditional glass cabinet piled high with fried food slowly soaking up hours of grease, you need to wait. The waiting is because BJFC cooks food fresh. Plump golden chips with the right amount of crunch and a steamed centre come out perfect, then there’s the fish. Each time I have waited about 10mins for my fish and each time it has been perfect. The batter comes out a light tempura colour while the flesh inside is steamed and flaky, you can tap that fish and no grease is flying your way. It is epic. Lemon – I don’t do vinegar and BJFC provides fresh lemon wedges, result. One time I inquired about the shish kebab and was told it would take 30mins so pre-order, so nexttime I did. 25 mins later I pulled up and was told my kebab was almost ready, five mins later I had my kebab. I opted for the wrap over the pitta bread because, unless I’m getting bazlama then factory produced pitta sucks. The wrap was a mistake, soggy, unable to eat with my hands and added nothing to the perfectly cooked meat inside, yes the filing itself was insane. Next time I’ll get either a salad box or rice but this place knows how to cook, wants to cook and wants you to walk away with some damn dine affordable food. Card machine – they’re working on it but for now it is cash only which totally sucks. It’s 2021 people. Summary Eat there, you won’t be disappointed but remember to take cash and be patient, you will be rewarded.

We found Big Joes when we were down in Windsor visiting Legoland. We went here for lunch one day instead of queuing in the theme park. The chips were delicious and the kids meals were the perfect size. I’d definitely recommend you try here. Good value for money and really friendly service.

I've ordered from this takeaway many times and the food is great with excellent service. Portion sizes are good and telephones orders have always been ready beforehand. Would definitely reccommend. Kebabs are the best in Windsor.
