Big Fry Fish And Chip Shop in South Norfolk

Very disappointing. Have guests staying from Europe who were very excited to have fish and chips. What a let down, large chips small, regular kids portion. Anaemic chips and bitty. Quite frankly felt embarrassed. Large chips £4.20!! Same size as regular. Will avoid in future.

i keep giving this chip shop one more chance but no more, its constantly bad they can't even master the basic art of frying a chip the last time i went the chips so shockingly soggy and plain horrible i swear this time im never using them again

My wife and I had large Haddock and chips last night and agreed they were absolutely delicious. Chips were fat, dry and well cooked and the fish was thinly coated in crispy batter and was sweet and flavoursome. Staff friendly, attentive and polite. Spot on!

I have paid £3.40 for a large chips and the portion size is absolutely disgusting. Complete robbery for this price. Still hungry afterwards and I'm sure a lot of other people would feel the same. Genuinely shocked at this. Will never return to this place ever again.

Overpriced for tiny portions - pictured below are two 'larges'. I have asked for salt and vinegar everytime I've been in which they never do. On this occasion I even double checked as the chips were being handed over, to which I was told they had but surprise surprise they were unseason when I opened them at home. This was the last straw, I don't understand why it is always so busy as I can safely say it is the most disappointing chippy I've ever been to. Would much rather go to Chips Away over the road!

My order was incomplete AGAIN !!!, RUINED a family meal, they employ kids who have no idea, or customer training. I will not go again to the Big Fry in Wymondham, very disappointed.

Worst fish and chips I’ve ever had. Chips were stone cold, fish was cold and soggy. We will never be eating here again.

Been to the area a couple of times and with the pubs being shut at the time, it had to be a fish & chip dinner, so we went to the place that had the biggest queue. Large and small cod and chips for us, very nice, not too greasy and reasonably priced.

Ordered at about 6.30pm. No pies left, we had 2 x fish which were really greasy and the chips were just little left over bits...all for £16! Not happy!

Great chippy, generous portions, lovely batter. Great service too. Definitely the go to chippy for the Wymondham area.

Perfect service and servers where very polite and helpful , food very fresh and quick service waiting outside due to COVID .

Young chap named Isaac was serving me today, he was not polite at all, told me to piss off and gave me an extra small portion of chips. He even had to audacity to stick his finger in my fish without gloves on and spit in my mushy peas.

Not to happy with the portions tbh I got my daughter half portion chips with her fish as she ISNT a massive chip fan and got myself a normal size portion with my fish it was ridiculous my daughter got 14 CHIPS and I got less than a scoop full no word of a lie 14 chips that’s not even a whole potatoe fgs discusting daylight robbery won’t use again ever !!!!!

We had a large Plaice and a regular Plaice and shared a regular portion of chips. The food was freshly cooked, hot and tasty. It was lunchtime and we ate it sitting under the Market Cross, less than 50 yards from the shop.

I love love love their chips and curry sauce! Proper curry sauce with bits in, the chips are cooked to perfection and on the times I have a fish cake they are divine too. Wish I lived closer, I would go everyday as the prices are reasonable

A great fish and chip shop,always busy and cooked fresh.very clean with friendly staff and love the paper bags they give you.

We go here all the time and we are yet to find a better place. We occasionally go to different ones depending on where we are but always come back to this one. The fish is always delicious and the curry sauce is excellent.

Nice traditional fish and chips. Not too greasy and fish always lovely and fresh. Often have to wait to have fish cooked but never more than 10 minutes or so.

What more is there to say. They serve great fish and chips. What else do you want from a fish and chip shop. Superb.

Nice Cod & Chip's can park nearby in street, service was good and quick, had a good menu and was freshly cooked.

Them CHIPS omg they are real good ,and the rock is cooked so so so perfect ,,very busy ,,but its because they are the best in Norfolk may by the country this chip shop is number 1 .but please do spam fritters ? Thanks for great chip big fry .☺

Always lovely fresh fish, huge portions too. The chips are lovely and fresh tasting. We have always had excellent food. They have also done lots of portions for quiz nights and the quality was great for everyone

After wandering around town reminiscing I decided to get some fish and chips - twice in one week! These were always fab and they still are - the cod was to die for - just heavenly!

El bacalao era tan suculento y las patatas fritas tenía acaba de salir de la freidora. No me empezó el guisantes blandos - mejor en el país.

Venda a un precio razonable, la comida regular con un servicio normal. Un buen punto a tener en cuenta es que las patatas fritas no son en grasa que es una gran ventaja. El tamaño de las porciones son bastante regulares. Muy bien situado dentro de la ciudad. En general, este lugar está bien, pero nada especial.

Cracking chips here, The fish is crispy and not too greasy. We always go here when we fancy Chippy. Never had a bad or greasy meal. Friendly service. Usually busy which is a good sign.

Like most fish & chip shops the portions aren't terribly large. However the food is always fresh and tasty . During busy times the queue can mean quite a lengthy wait.

Food was fine but plain and the chips (below) tasted abit plasticy, oily and boring and the fish was soggy (below), the chicken nuggets were nice but greasy (below) so for food I would give 1 star. However the people were so nice and friendly and understanding that I woulf give them 2!

Excellent tasty fish and chips. Freshly cooked, wide range of alternatives to fish. Good value and good sized portions. There is an order and collect service offered by efficient staff.

If you haven't sorted dinner it is an alternative. Quick pop down and collect to have at home.Haven't been disappointed yet.Scampi or Battered fish is all I have tried.

Excellent food freshly prepared if a little expensive. I nearly always place phone order. Especially useful at weekends when the queue can be our the door.

you can always spot a good chip shop by the queue. Big Fry always has a big queue because the food is excellent. Telephone orders are accepted. Portions are generous but not too big and food is reasonably priced.

Tiny portion of chips sausages awful and nearly cold ,wont be visiting again,chips away or Woodbines much better

Use regularly always have Fresh fish never had poor food, great service the queue at rush hour say it all.

My partner and I tried this chip shop after moving to Wymondham and were extremely disappointed. The lady that served us was new and, whilst we understand that she needs time to find her feet, we were not made to feel welcome or valued as customers. The chips were unimpressive and portion sizes much smaller than we have now received elsewhere in Wymondham. We will unfortunately not be returning to Big Fry in the future.

I would avoid this shop. The last time I went in I got meals for all the family. The food was really greasy and we were all ill the next day. Obviously I have no proof as to what made us ill, but food from here was the only thing we had eaten the same the day before. I would go to Chips Away if in the town, much nicer food and friendly staff.

I come in here very now and again and am never disappointed - the food is always fresh and value for money and can be cooked to order if need be.Staff are always friendly and serve really fast withou compromising on politeness, and alway seem to get on really well with each other, it's nice to go somewhere where the workers are HAVIF a laugh together.In particular, we were served by a girl called Emily (?! Think that was her name!!) not only was she incredibly fast (cleared a full shop in about 5 mins) but ah even hopped behind the fryer at one point and we think it was her that cooked it. Will definitely recommend and visit again

Sometimes the chips are nice, its a good potion, hot and other times they have lots of sharp scraps in them and not so nice. batter can be bit pale on sausages. pies are nice though. Staff are friendly, average chippie but nothing that makes them stand out to any others
