Visited as a party of ladies on 10 Aug. The room in which we sat was really nice and comfortable. We had a mixed menu as there were 7 of us but everyone enjoyed their food. Prices were very reasonable and I would definitely visit again.

the restaurant itself was nice inside and staff were very friendly. we went about 6.30.and it was starting to fill.up.asked for wine menu that we we were told they couldnt find ? so we didnt bother .it did take a long time to get drinks and we ordered another round that never came and had to ask again . seemed like the staff were disjointed with no direction. our starters were nice. the steak night offer was a great deal , and the bottle of wine that came with it wasn't house red either and was a good mod range red. I would try again as we enjoyed it just needs someone in charge of front of house to.oversee

Never been as disappointed with a Sunday dinner. Should have known when the two meals arrived so soon after order that it was slap dash. Vegetables uncooked lamb shank stringy. My wife had pork and sent her meal back as it was barely warm. Obviously no crackling left as two pieces of pork scratching on the plate. Fine dining UGH. No one bothered to ask if the meal was alright. They probably knew the answer Never again

Food was unquestionably good, no one had any complaints, however service was slow. Table for 4 people was booked at 7:15, starters werent received until 8:30 and mains until 9:15. Good wine and good company meant it wasn’t a huge deal, but really it was a bit of a wait and we were only a table of 4 so it was probably unjustified.

Great food, great service, great ambience, great setting. Good to see a local restaurant trying to do something different and presenting it so we'll. Friendly and efficient staff. Reasonable prices.

Brilliant Thai Tapas experience! The service and food were phenomenal. We particularly liked the beef rendang curry and chicken Katsu! Can’t wait to try steak night. Never felt so welcomed in a restaurant. Amazing!!

Veg raw, mashed potato was like mush, steak and ale pie was tasty but nearly all fatty lumps of steak, family member ordered salmon and cod pie, nearly all of the dish was mashed potato with only a few small pieces of salmon and a few flakes of cod and again veg was practically raw, mentioned it to a waitress to be told they would tell the chef, will never go there again

I absolutely love the food here I love the chicken kebabs. The chips and onion rings are ridiculous. I often come here for food. I enjoy the ambience and when next door have live music on as I can have some food and listen to a band what more do you want to do on a Saturday night. The only slight Negative is the restaurant decor is a bit bland and he’s not in fitting with the building.

Meal for 10 of our family. As over 6 people we had to pre book our meals which made the service all the more disappointing. The meals all came out very slowly two at a time with gaps of a couple of minutes in between. Steaks arrived first with no chips which did not appear until all the other main courses were served. So some people had nearly finished their main courses before others arrived. (One mistake with a wrong order). Dishes very slow to be cleared. Desert menus given but no-one came to take our order so we had to do that ourselves at the bar. The food when it came was very good. I know this was a Saturday night but reservations shouldn't be taken for large parties if they cannot cope. The staff seemed to be hanging around and chatting together in the bar and not taking notice of customers needs in our room. I have been before on a lunchtime weekday when service was very good. Food lovely but this is the first time anywhere we have not left a tip because of bad service and felt quite bad about this but we needed to make a point.

Staff were exceptional very friendly and made us feel very welcome. Food was very nice and well priced. We will definitely be back

Celebrating my sons birthday, we had the ‘Kings Board’. A huge meal for four; consisting of whole chicken, lamb kebabs, tomahawk steak, rolled pork & stuffing, sausages, mushrooms, sweet potato fry’s and chips, onion rings, pitta bread and tomatoes plus loads of dips. I’ve probably missed something out. Everything cooked to perfection and delicious. This was a meal and a half. Beautifully served by great staff. I knew I’d forget something…corn cobs… HIGHLY recommended.

We hired the the bar area and garden out for my mam and dad retirement on Saturday gone. All I can say is it was amazing venue/ garden food was beautiful and the staff were amazing made there night so special a big thank you to Monica who looked after us you have a fab pub and a fab team we wouldn’t book anywhere else for a privet function. We had lunch at the Biddick on a "special " day for us and it did not disappoint as the staff were friendly with just the right level of attentiveness. and the food was well cooked and well presented. There was plenty of choice on the menu and all meals coming out ( you know how you always have a discreet look at what other people are having ) also looked really good. I would definitely recommend the Biddick.

Family meal with teenage children. Went on recommendation from friends. Lovely, clean setting. Good menu with lots of choice. Main meal, we ordered two sirloin steaks, sirloin skewers and chicken pasta. Meat quality very disappointing! Steak totally over cooked considering we ordered rare and medium rare, came out medium if not more and very, very tough! Offered no steak knifes...... which didn't help! And chicken had lots of gristle which was put on the side of the plate. Tasty but quality poor or poorly cooked??? Service good, staff pleasant. Average marks as steak wasn't cheap with a disappointing result. Everything else was good. Would I go back, I don't know......

Another delicious lunch. Food speaks for itself excellent as always but the Biddick shines due to the impeccable service and attentive customer relations. We don’t go every week but we go often and small details are alway remembered which makes a huge difference- thank you Monica your family snd your team

We had not been to the Biddick for some time but had heard that it had been taken over and re-vamped and decided to try it for lunch. We were-pleased we did as we had a lovely meal. The decor has been updated and is modern, restaurant style and staff were friendly and helpful . The food was good, well presented, hot and freshly cooked. The warm bread buns were welcome as we waited for our meal. If you are looking for a good place to eat I would recommend the Biddick and we will definitely return

It was a sad day when I popped in to The Biddick (a pub we've used for many years) for a quick pint after a long bike ride. I thought I'd pop in, grab a pint, sit outside, and watch the world go by on my day off. People used to be able to buy beer at either bar, but not now. You used to be able to sit at the front, but not now. We have also, in the past, bought a pint and crossed the road to sat by the river, but not now. Under the new dictatorship, I was ushered to the bar area to buy my beer. Why? Then, when I explained, I just wanted a pint I was told again in the bar area. Again, why? I then explained that because I have a bike, I just like to go over the road, sit in peace, and enjoy a beer. No, again. You can now only sit in the rear garden, but they would open the side gate to let me in with my bike. Now, the front of this so-called public house has a beautiful outlook of Fatfield Bridge and the river Wear it crosses, but the new dictatorship has completely ignored this and forced its customers into the back garden with only a view of a brick wall. Stunning or stunningly stupid. They didn't get my money (£5 a pint), I left and went to The Victoria, which isn't a dictatorship, sells cheaper beer, and has better food. Oh, and you can sit wherever you like. A lesson on how to get a bad review in 4 minutes flat and not make any money. A masterclass. The dictatorship can write whatever they like as a retort, but they'll never get my money.

A family gathering for the 50th Anniversary of my Aunt & Uncle marriage, funnily enough their review is below mine here!The Biddick Inn is a lovely cosy venue with a good selection of beers and ciders and very friendly staff, a special mention goes out to Tracey for exceptional customer service and hospitality.Twenty three of us dined at The Biddick Inn that evening and I have to say the food is excellent with a good selection on the menu. I especially enjoyed the black pudding and egg starter I had (pictured) and throughly enjoyed my meal.Some family nostalgia, it turns out this venue also hosted my parents’ wedding reception back in 1970 and this pub was often frequented my late father when he was a very young fella.More than happy enough to recommend The Biddick Inn, I shall definitely return myself.

We celebrated our Golden Wedding with a meal here for our family, we had excellent service from the very friendly staff who were catering for 23 of us, the meal wasvery enjoyable and we had a wonderful evening there, would highly recommendthis lovely pub by the riverside.

Have been here many times and the food has always been great. This was one of my grans favourite pubs to eat at and they recently catered for her funeral which she always told them she would have there. The food was all perfect and the owners are the nicest people you could wish to meet and delayed going on there holiday to make sure that everything went smoothly.

Great setting for good quality ales and food. Right next to the River Wear with the fabled Worm Hill looming behind it.One of the few pubs in the area that does quality food, has a playpark, a pool table, jukebox and its dog friendly too!Is everything a proper pub should be and these kinds of places are dying, being replaced by poser pubs that care nothing for families.

Went there for family lunch and was very disappointed.My family was waiting 45 min just to get frozen food heated in microwave or burned on grill.When asked for receipt I received just a total sum which I suspected was to high for what I ordered. I asked for detailed receipt and it just proved that I was overcharged £3.50 for my meal. The Biddick Inn is overpriced, service is slow and food awful, I will definitely not recommend it to anyone. Pubs next door are so much better.

Pub that is as nice inside as it looks from the outside. Friendly service. We enjoyed our vegetarian lasagna with fries and rabbit & Black pudding pie with mash, and the local ale.

We visited the pub recently - 7 men with a booking. We were advised on ordering that several items were not available (some on the specials board!). Then a long wait for some reason not disclosed. The staff coped well with several hungry males getting irate however when the food finally arrived we all enjoyed what we had. Top marks to the girls on the bar.

Called in for early evening meal with my wife and mother the place was virtually empty with very little atmosphere we were the only ones sitting in the room off the bar, all though it was empty we seamed to wait ages for the food, the wraps we had were full of chicken but very dry, on the up side the chips were very nice the staff were very friendly and welcoming but unfortunately the food was only average.

Had looked up several places to eat,but so glad we decided to go here!At first I thought the menu had too much choice on it to be good food(which is often the case),how wrong I was!We ordered 2 lasagne,a burger meal,and a chicken meal.All arrived very quickly and all piping hot.The lasagne-home made was fantastic would really recommend.Daughter said her burger was wonderful and the bread bun really good.Husband enjoyed his chicken covered in sauce.The salad was not the usual run of the mill.Overall we were really impressed and would definately go again when up that way! Had great day out walking along the river path ended up back at the biddick inn very nice beer and food nice friendly staff would recommend it for a walkers pub.

I visited on a Wednesday night with 2 friends and my mam, I have to say probably all a little hard to please!! But boy were they happy with their food! One friend and my mam had liver which they said was delicious, perfectly cooked, I had steak and dumplings again a lovely home cooked tasty meal, other friend had sizzling lamb cutlets which she raved about!! All desserts were beautiful, personally I sometimes think desserts are over priced but they were all reasonably priced at around £3.50. I had ginger cake and custard, it was beautiful!! Best I've ever had and portion was so big that I shared with my mam! Would go back just for that!

El pub tristemente estaba casi vacío y sin atmósfera. Sin embargo, todavía teníamos la esperanza de una comida de prueba. Estábamos sentados en el silencioso restaurante de la morgue pero no nos dieron menús. Finalmente, mi marido fue al bar y pidió 2 filetes medio raros. Cuando llegaron, estaban medianamente bien hechos. Las patatas fritas caseras eran muy grasosas y el aceite sabía viejo. No esperábamos un buen vino debido al precio, pero no pudimos beberlo, fue horrible. Pasará mucho tiempo antes de que visitemos este pub nuevamente, lo cual es una gran pena. Sin embargo, además de la mala comida, realmente necesita un cambio de imagen, parece demasiado cansado y anticuado.

Visitamos el Biddick anoche, ya que hemos tenido fabulosas salsas de carne calientes anteriores, nos decepcionó mucho que el chef ahora ha cambiado de carne adecuada de un conjunto a la carne de vacuno 'paquete' habitual pre rebanada utilizada en otros bares. Tan decepcionado?
