We had a fantastic time, we had the Bottomless Brunch which came with a meal and as many cocktails you could drink in 90 mins. We managed 6 each and all were delicious! Staff very friendly and all drinks came quickly. We’ll be booking again!

I’ve always wanted to come here and have afternoon tea. I was excited when we finally did but that soon turned out to be a big mistake. Service was horrendous if you can call it service. We got seated and looked at the menu. It was disappointing they don’t serve breakfast all day as I wanted to order from that menu. We waited and waited until 15 mins went by no one came to take our order. I finally got the server’s attention but she said she’ll ask someone else to take our order. So along came another server who took our order of sandwiches and tea. We got a pot of tea with no cups, we had to ask for teacups and teaspoons. My cup had hair in it and was stained yellow so wasn’t a good impression. The servers were so unorganised didn’t seem to know what they were doing. Service was just non existent. It literally took 1 full hour before getting our sandwiches. How difficult is it to put a sandwich together? They must’ve needed step by step instructions on how to make a sandwich. We finally got them and it was so not worth the wait. Measly portion of coleslaw and crisps (about 10 broken pieces). It was just awful. My baguette in particular was slathered with so much butter, it made me sick I threw up when I got home. Other tables complaining they never got their order, it was terrible. When it came to paying the bill, there was no bill just a card machine. The man who took payment was rude. I regret leaving tip. This was a huge let down, I will never come here again.

I have been coming to Betty Bumbles for many years. I find it a great place to relax and catch up with friends. The food is always very good and the staff are always friendly and helpful. One evening I arranged with the owner to have a birthday buffet at the Tearoom. The owner was so helpful in ensuring that I had what I wanted in the buffet. There was plenty of food and it was very good value. The Tearoom has an authentic atmosphere which makes it a unique experience in comparison to a modern coffee shop.

£4.50 for buttered scone seems high to me.(2.50 for coffee fine). Asked for bill. Card machine brought to me and told total. Asked for till bill. Was told might not be possible. Was given bill with total sum only. Queried price (not welcome) and was told scone/coffee was priced as a ‘cream tea’. (Scones, a common purchase in a tea room, not priced on menu.)

First time spending Mothers Day here, and what a lovely tea. It was a really busy day but all the food was freshly prepared the scones were straight from the oven and the tea was really filling. Lovely round of fresh sandwiches accompanied by layers of treats including cakes at the top tier and a really nicely paced day. No rush for us which was nice and good value. Mum also had a lovely time. Thanks for a lovely day and all your hard work.

Booked for Mothers Day Afternoon Tea, and what an absolute delight it was. We arrived to a warm, friendly welcome. It was busy, but that's what you expect for mothers day and it was lovely to see so many others enjoying themselves. We were not rushed in any way and the sandwiches were made to order and were fresh, not pre prepared and left to go stale. The wait enabled us to enjoy the time we had with each other and when the food came out we were not disappointed. It was delicious, fresh and tasty. The scones were still warm and the cakes delicious and with a bottomless teapot, it was really great value. The staff although very busy, still took time to chat, smile and provide excellent service. This place is a hidden gem.

We pre-booked in for afternoon tea for Mothers Day. Turned up for our 2:30 booking, waited an hour and 20 minutes for a sandwich, scone and slice of cake each. Considering we, and everyone else in there, had pre-booked the owner knew exactly what they had set up for the day. The seats and tables were crammed in together like sardines in a tin. No space for the poor waitresses to get around the tables, no allowances made by the owner for his customers OR staff! Not to mention the crazy heat created by all these people in a tiny room, uncomfortable and unacceptable. The wait is one thing, but the owner saw NO issue with his greediness and poor planning. When we complained he thought it was perfectly reasonable for us to wait over an hour for a pre-booked afternoon tea! No apology and no attempt to make this right. I will unfortunately never be visiting here again after this dire experience.

We came here after having the most dreadful experience somewhere else with a huge group so the other place took lots of money and treated us terribly. So we wanted to try to have a nice experience We called lots of places asking if they couod do afternoon tea that day, everywhere said they need 48hours notice Bettys do not and said come on down From the moment we arrived we were greeted by the boss I think, she and all the staff were in jubilee t shirts. I said they look fab and the lady mentioned she got all of her staff the t shirts 👕 which I thought was smashing and its not something she had to do at all. So I felt almost right away impressed with the way they she treated her staff and wanted to bring a smile and an atmosphere to her customers, this treatment of staff shone thought put visit because everyone we spoke to was knowable and super friendly The food was off the scale Not long ago we went to the ritz for those who don't know it is one of the if not the poshest and most famous hotel in London well I can confirm that Betty's scones beat them hands down abd every single item we had was absolutely delicious. We were so impressed with afternoon tea that we took away a array of items for a picnic the next day and all of that was also amazing 👏 I absolutely can't wait to visit again it's about 45 mins from me or I wouod if already I couldn't praise or recommend this lovely place enough and there are some fab shops in the area so get yourself there folks you won't regret it Thank Betty bumbles your amazing 👏 ❤️

Visited for bottomless brunch with two friends and it was great. Upon arrival we were taken upstairs where there is loads of additional seating and it’s decorated really quirkily. Nice music playing as well which felt a little more upbeat than downstairs. We each had a delicious - really tasty, brunch item and then plenty of drinks. The service was quick and so friendly and we had a really lovely time. I think we managed to work through most of the cocktails available (there are a good few) and they were all very enjoyable. Highly recommend, it completely exceeded our expectations.

We were not disappointed as there was a great range of items and an excellent level of service provided. We will surely visit again soon. Top tip, don't park on the market square as it is limited to 1 hour maximum and you will need more than this to order, eat and relax. Instead, park a 5 minute walk away at the Riverside car park so you can relax and take your time, it's only £2 for 3 hours.

This was my first visit to Betty Bumble's and certainly won't be my last. A delightful tea room with a wonderful large pot of tea served with traditional old fashioned tea cups and saucers. The staff were very attentive and food was delicious, plentiful and served very promptly. I lunched with a friend and because of the inclement weather we ended up staying for over 3 hours and never felt rushed, a lovely added bonus was they also sell alcohol beverages so we rounded the lunch of with a nice glass of chilled rose Prosecco. Well done Betty Bumbles we will be back!

I am surprised by the acclaim this place has received. Recently visited as a group of four. All of our - very basic - orders (3 toasties and a quiche) took 50 mins to arrive, despite an apparent abundance of waiting staff. Seriously, we saw 6 different waitresses milling around in our time here. There were maybe 25 guests in the whole place. The food was basic, but did the job. Underwhelmed, will not be returning.

Despite many good reviews on this site we didn’t seem to get the same service? The food wasn’t bad (maybe I’m being picky) it was just weird. For the Afternoon Tea I ordered two smaller scones instead of the 1 large and they were TINY. Like a quarter of the size- but they tasted good. Also the ‘clotted cream’ was whipped cream! We used to have a tea room as a family business and clotted cream is a must! Kinda disappointed when I saw this...Most bizarre was the cakes though- pineapple upside down, ginger, vanilla and custard danish and avocado and courgette cake?? They sound cool but they didn’t taste great. Tbh just wanted a simple Vic sponge or chocolate- didn’t have any though. We came at around 2 and by 3 all the cakes had sold out apart from the avocado one (not really surprised tbh!). Can’t have an afternoon tea with no cakes available! In the end I’d have rather gone to Greggs over the road and done it myself. The interior is cool, nice staff (they just don’t have enough), shame about the meal. Not sure if they ran out of cakes or were trying something new but didn’t work for me. It was just...weird. (Avocado??)

We visited last Sunday, 2nd February and the service was so slow. The crockery and spoons were dirty on the table we were shiwn to and when I spoke to the waitress, she advised that these had not been changed since the previous people had left. They changed the cups, but my new cup had lipstick on it and when we asked for teaspoons, I received the same dirty teaspoon back that the waitress had taken away. After an hour, where our drinks arrived at different times, I asked if they'd be any longer as we needed to go.The table before us had only received half their order and weren't happy, whereas the table after us had received all their food and we hadn't received any good at all.Anyway, in the end we were advised that the food would be another 5 minutes, but when it didn't arrive we ended up leaving. The staff were lovely, but clearly over stretched, you really can't run a business like that. There were empty tables with dirty dishes still to be taken to the kitchen. We won't be going again, a total disappointment.

We always try to use independent, family run businesses as much as possible on our days out. Recently taken over by a couple new to hospitality we received excellent customer service, lovely freshly prepared food and had a nice chat with the owners. The afternoon tea menu looked very inviting but due to seasonal excess we resisted the homemade cake. Will have to make a return trip. I have been in Betty Bumbles twice and it was good. For this reason I booked a table for lunch when I had visitors. We walked in and sat down and after 15 minutes I went looking for someone to take our order. We ordered 2 salads, a ploughman’s and a panini so nothing complicated. After waiting an hour we asked where our food was and 10 minutes later it was delivered. The seafood salad was a dollop of seafood sauce with prawns and fish sticks mixed in on top of an uninteresting salad served on a plate about the size of a tea plate. The male server looked like he’d rather be somewhere else. We weren’t the only people dissatisfied. Not a pleasant experience all round and I won’t be going back.

My friends and I have used Betty Bumbles a good few times over the last year. However the last two times have been so unacceptable, we would not go here again. At the end of September, 3 of us waited over an hour from when our order was taken, to when it was served. Nothing cooked, nor complicated, just Afternoon Tea. It appeared complete chaos, others waited just as long and when the food finally came, it looked a little thrown together. The manager himself apologised saying kitchen staff had let them down. We accepted the apology and pre-booked a table again, on the basis everyone has bad days.

Visited with 3 other female friends, our first time here. 2 of us required gluten free as have Coeliac Disease, had pre-booked the table (and advised of dietary requirements beforehand). On arrival it looked very busy and we were shown to our reserved table which unfortunately for one of the elderly ladies in the party was a bit of a chore. It was indeed very busy with what seemed to be large party going on so was very noisy in there, couldn't really hold much of a conversation and could barely hear the old fashion war type music being played in the background. The venue was lovely don't get me wrong. Had to find the young female waitress after already being there about 15 minutes, ordered our drinks and afternoon teas (2 of course gluten free), then it took nearly an hour before our drinks arrived and we had to then send the pot of tea back as it was almost stone cold, it didn't even dissolve the sugar! Apologies were given by another staff member who informed us that they had a few pre-booked parties going on and that the chef hadn't turned up that morning and they were short on staff. Pot of tea replaced along with fresh cups and saucers but with no teaspoons this time! At least the tea was piping hot this time. Seemed to be confusion as to what type of gluten free scones were on offer as when the young waitress took our order we were informed there was only a choice of either plain or fruit so opted for one of each. Then, after even more waiting, we were told that there was a choice of either cheese or fruit scones as the owner didn't like how the plain ones had turned out? So opted for 2 fruit gluten free scones. When food finally did arrived the 2 "normal " afternoon teas looked splendid whereas the gluten free ones weren't as appealing. The crusts had not been cut off the bread, the 2 fruit scones although visually looked lovely and were very large, tried to cut it in half to put the cream and jam in and the whole thing just crumbled away to dust, no way was I going to be able to spread anything in it, I did try a bit just to see what it was like and was so dry. The gluten free millionaires shortcake was really dry and crumbly too, the small slice of gluten free carrot cake was the only best offering on there, there were a couple of what looked like flapjack type things which were more like energy bars full of different seeds. All in all not what I had expected knowing that the manageress/owner herself too has Coeliac disease would have been able to offer a more appetising selection, a lot of it had ran out, there just wasn't much variety to be honest!. The carrot cake was the last piece on offer! Had we been told before setting off (40mins drive away) of the staffing and gluten free issues we probably would have opted for either another quieter day or another venue. On paying the bill there was no offer of compensation or reduction to the bill, I realise the owners have not been running this very long so am prepared to give the benefit of the doubt and put it down to teething issues but I probably would not be going back there, sorry to say as such a lovely place too. The older waitress was very accommodating and we felt so sorry for having to keep telling her what was wrong with our order, we felt somewhat embarrassed.

My friend and I went for afternoon tea and it was amazing! Lovely sandwiches and cakes - a good variety and the scones were huge. Service was very good, staff were friendly and we both thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

Lovely vintage tea rooms - very authentic with antique furniture, china tea cups and saucers and large teapots in tea cozies. We had lunch and it was freshly made, served by lovely people and reasonably priced. We will certainly go back.

The cafe was full but the lovely staff set up a table in the bar area for us, in effect we had a private dining room!! Sandwiches were tasty, served with salad and crisps, panini, baguettes similarly served. Fillings were plentiful and tea was served in a proper teapot complete with cosy. It's a gem of a place.

I have visited Betty Bumbles twice and, on both occasions, had their excellent full English breakfast. At £8.50 it is incredible value for money considering you get a pot of tea, 2 slices of toast and butter on top of the bacon, egg, sausage, tomato, beans, mushroom, hash browns, black pudding. The tables have lovely tablecloths and cutlery I remember from my childhood. The teapots come with a lovely cosy and the crockery is also vintage. The staff are great and you look out onto the Market Square from either the ground or first floor. If I had to find fault it would simply be my own preferences, ie a hotter plate with the cooked food on and possibly one less teabag in the teapot; however, the meal will set you up for the day. Will certainly return when next in St Neots.

I haven't been here since it's been taken over by the new owner but I wasn't disappointed. I had egg and cress sandwiches which were served with homemade coleslaw , crisps and salad. The sandwiches were fresh and tasty and the coleslaw was delicious. I opted for homemade fruit scone with jam and cream and my friend had the plain scone. Both came with a side of fresh fruit, jam and cream and we also had a pot of tea. The scones were huge and warm and perfect.

Went here at weekend as it had been a while since last there. Place was very busy and the staff seemed very stressed.First words out of waitress “I take it you have booked a table “ not hello. As we hadn’t I asked if we could have a table for two. Erm no we are full was reply ! I am very sorry to see this lovely little place go down this path. I had heard that the new management were having issues but that was two months ago. Don’t know the reason it changed but it’s a shame for the business and the town. Hopefully the management/owners can get it right before its too late . Upon reading the other reviews I don’t feel that I am alone in my thoughts.

I took my mother for her birthday afternoon tea. Having been for afternoon tea and very much into vintage, we were expecting great things. Sadly decor needs renovation- we sat by the window and the window sill was filthy, covered with rubbish outside and the view blocked by a less than vintage open sign.

I took my wife to Betty Bumbles on her 59th Birthday for breakfast, thinking it was somewhere special to go. The cooked breakfast was OK, apart from the beans being served in a separate bowl and we're stone cold. The rest was OK, but most certainly nothing special. What really let this place down though was the cobwebs around the window where we sat upstairs and the vase of daffodils on the table that couldn't be more dead! Literally no heads left on them. Other flowers around were just the same. Not exactly appealing and most certainly not the surroundings I wanted for a special breakfast. Service was without a smile. Won't be going back in a hurry!

We booked a table by phone. Upon arrival we were not greeted but the owner just rudely asked if we had booked. All the empty tables upstairs and down had dirty dishes on them. The owner proceeded to moan constantly that she was short staffed and the kitchen staff were also struggling, she had run out of crockery, not a very nice atmosphere. After waiting 10 minutes were shown to a table that they then had to clear of dirty dishes and lay up. When they bought the tea my cup had a chip in it. We ordered afternoon tea for two. When it eventually arrived we were served tortilla chips, when has afternoon tea ever had that as part of the menu. When the scruffy waitress took the order she only offered us a choice of 3 different cakes but later offered other customers a much wider choice. The jam for the scones was bright red, jelly like and tasteless. Some nice homemade jam would have been nice. The cream was tasteless, maybe clotted cream would have been nice. The staff and owner were not nicely dressed in uniforms. The owner was still moaning to everyone. We ate our food quickly and left. Really not a nice place anymore now that it is under new ownership/Management. A place to be avoided!!

Service was very fast and owners are welcoming. I ordered a jacket potato, big portions and the fillings get served in a cute little mug to fit with quaint surroundings, I then had a very generous slice of orange cake which was super yummy! If you are looking for a place to go for a relaxing lunch then here is the place to go :)

This was our first visit ever to St. Neots and my brother and sis in law took us to this tea room as they love it usually. Firstly, the owner said they were fully booked but then went upstairs to check and told us we could sit in front of the door. We thanked her. It took a while for a waitress to take our order but she was pleasant. We ordered 4 cups of tea as we were parched and really looking forward to it. We also ordered 4 jacket potatoes with various fillings. I was parked in the market square and you only get an hour on the meter. We got there at 2pm. By 1.45pm we still hadn't received our tea! At 1.50pm my brother and I went down to the car park to move my car and walked past the owner taking up two jacket potatoes. My sis in law spoke to her and asked her where our teas were and also where were the other jacket potatoes. The owner was very rude and when my sis in law told her that one of the orders was wrong anyway, the owner just huffed at her and said that they were too busy and not enough staff. My brother and I came back and he went and spoke to the owner. Meanwhile, the tea had arrived but the other two potatoes still had not! My brother came back up the stairs and said, get your coats on, we're going! They told him the other two potatoes would be another 10 minutes!!!

Forgot to cook the scone. Most anaemic looking egg and cress sandwich. White, white and a smidgeon of green. Staff fine about taking the scone cost off the bill. Nice staff seemingly working hard at keeping their heads down serving such poor products to an overcrowded mob of customers. Reduce numbers, concentrate on high quality, fewer products to serve and sell , at the moment it’s pack ‘em in and serve them anything. Perhaps this model makes them a profit but who will keep returning in such a competitive sector?

A group of us went for lunch on Saturday. The food was nice, but the service wasn't great. It started well, but then went drastically downhill. We sat with empty plates for a considerable amount of time, before having to go and find a member of staff to order some cake. Unfortunately someone had made a pot of English tea with lemon tea bags which when mixed with milk was pretty disgusting. They changed it and were very apologetic - a simple mistake. However, when they brought fresh cups with the new pot of English tea, one of the cups had bright red lipstick around the top. We asked for this to be changed which it was. However, it would appear that the same cup was then given to another table.

Visited Betty Bumbles for lunch with some friends on the 4th Jan.Our pre-booked table was upstairs by a window with a lovely view across the market square, Two of us ordered jacket potato. These were delicious, cooked through and presented with salad and crisps, as was the quality delicious sandwich ordered by the other person in our party. Food was cooked to order and we only waited 10 mins. Staff very friendly and nothing too much trouble. A very pleasant lunch!

We parked in the market square and just happened to see this little gem of a place. Quick check on trip advisor to see reviews and we went in. The place is absolutely charming. Lovely music playing, Nat King Cole, Elvis, Frank Sinatra. My partner had black pudding and cheese toastie which was very unusual and surprisingly tasty. I had the bacon and Brie panini. Delicious. Lovely tea came in a teapot with a rather tatty knitted tea cosy, utterly charming lovely mis matched china cups and saucers. The afternoon tea being served at another table looked lovely. Generous portions, friendly staff, nice food prettily decorated all in all a little gem

As a recent arrival to St Neots, finding a new ‘local’ is always one of the first and most important things you can do. Betty Bumbles is without a doubt an excellent local base for both (low-key) business meetings and personal outings. Between the chandelier and the charmingly mismatched tea sets, Betty Bumbles lives up to the ideal of a quintessentially English tea room, while also maintaining excellent customer service (a big thanks to our waitress, who despite being brand new managed our service with a steady hand and charming disposition) and excellent food.

Recently under new management. I popped in to see the beautiful new Crystal chandelier and have a coffee. Ended up having lunch then cake and coffee. The new owners have lots of new ideas. The food was lovely and the orange cake is definitely one to try.

I’ve often driven past this tea room as I’m not from the local area. I finally decided to stop and try it. It was ok... nothing spectacular. It was very tired looking in places and could do with a spruce up and deep clean. The food and tea were ok, but I’ve had better! The staff could have also been more attentive.

Everything went wrong! We ordered and were told around 20 minutes later that a certain dish wasn't available. This led to one member of our group having to re-order - no idea why this wasn't picked up on earlier. This led to more waiting. Nearly an hour later, and two of the three dishes arrived. All we ordered were paninis - surely they can't take that long?! The third meal only arrived about 15 minutes after the other two diners had finished, only after asking several times and being fobbed off. No real apology for the wait, just blaming a busy kitchen, despite it not being all that busy... my meal was wrong but by this point, I was too fed up to complain and therefore have to wait for it to be corrected. During the whole time we were there, it became clear we weren't the only people affected by such terrible service. One man with his daughter actually cancelled his order, after having waited over an hour for his dish whilst his daughter ate and finished hers. Another diner was given the wrong sandwich, and had to wait ages for it to be corrected. Another woman nearby was given the wrong dessert but she was like us - too fed up to complain and have to wait again, so she just accepted that. Another family, who were there for a relative's birthday, waited over half an hour just for some pots of tea! What an absolute joke!

This place is quirky and the idea behind it is really nice, full of interesting events and activities, selling art, craft and music. However, there are a few flaws: staff could be more welcoming (they seem so busy running around without smiling even when they don’t have many clients), but more importantly the place is not clean enough. Every time I went tables were sticky and had left over crumbles and food from previous customer, you pick up one of the free books on display and they are all dusty, same as the table games… it doesn’t give you much trust on the state of the kitchen. Menu is varied enough with an eye for intolerances and vegan/vegetarian which is great however quality of the food is just ok, a bit bland and coffee very substandard even compared to a chain like Costa. The place has surely potential, the idea is great, but there is surely room for improvement.

Not delivered to my address! What is the point of having customers give delivery codes to drivers if they can over rule them?!! Not happy at all and now out of pocket and no contact from driver if they were lost they should have rang me!

A very nice place to eat and drink. The day my wife and I went, it was a sunny warmish day at the end of September and we sat outside. Nice food and drinks and not too expensive. Lovely views.
