I was really happy to see an organic cafe/restaurant with great offering of salads and desserts, including gluten free and vegan options. Unfortunately, the place was somehow dirty - the cakes and pastries were uncovered, with flies flying around, the whole place had a grubby look. It's a real pity as I love the concept and would gladly pay the rather high price for good quality food.

A lovely selection, cheerful service and good quality food. An enjoyable, easy and tasty option for all of us. The brownie was to die for…

We nipped in here yesterday for a coffee and a snack. What a shambles! Three drinks, a juice and a sausage roll and a cookie, £25! Coffee was cold , despite the fact he’d just made it, juice arrived 20 minutes later and the staff forgot about the snacks and they arrived half an hour after we’d finished our drinks! It’s not as if the place was understaffed, there was just a general sense of apathy. This place needs to get a grip, visitors to Bristol want better from Better Foods

Very upsetting treatment from staff here. Despite previously seeing a dog being fussed over here, they decided to discriminate against my 8 month old well behaved on leash puppy. Stating I had to leave and wasn’t even allowed to order takeaway. This is not okay. It wasn’t safe to leave her outside with the road and risk of dog theft. I would expect more welcoming treatment from a supposedly ethical company.

Healthy and tasty lunch with vegetarian & meat options. We had pork sausage rolls and shared a medium portion of salads (see photo definitely enough for two). These salads were great variety. There was free drinking water available from machine that dispensed it sparkling, room temperature or chilled. There are a few tables inside and out. The staff friendly.

Entré en este café y comí un desayuno tranquilo y saludable, y no me decepcionó. La comida era muy sabrosa, el servicio es bueno. También hice un poco de compras de alimentos en la tienda contigua, muy útil.

I use this shop regularly because it is the closest shop to my home in Southville. However, it is extremely expensive and the fruit and veg is of low quality. It may be organic and possibly some of it sourced locally, but so much of it is rarely fresh and quite often I see fruit and veg that is positively off. I noticed that the mejoul dates are from Israel so I'm not sure where their 'ethical' boundaries lie. 'Ethical' is in their header strap line on signage, so I think they should come right out and say whether or not they support the Israeli apartheid regime. You expect from places like Asda a non-caring or not thought out sourcing philosphy but a shop that pronounces ethical sourcing should explain why it advertises Israel in its shop. You can import dates from Palestine or central Africa Hobbs House bread stockist, so low quality pappy bread available. Stockist of Southville Hop beer so that is one good thing. Make sure you have plenty of cash on you when shopping here. And, is the veg really organic and local? Or was it procured from the bins behind asda?

Saturday morning stroll for brunch. Picked Better Food as the choices looked fresh and healthy. As one of us is vegetarian it is nice to have the extra choices. Once order placed we waited...and waited...and.... Drinks eventually arrived. Hot chocolate was lukewarm and cappuccino so milky was more of a latte. Food eventually arrived which whilst it looked appetising it really wasn’t. The mashed avocado was so bland it didn’t even taste of avocado! Can’t quite put my finger on it...it just didn’t deliver what was offered.

Every time we go in, every time they're always so friendly and polite. The food has never let us down, we go end of day and get the 25 or 50% off items. 😁 After school and work it's a lovely place to relax and have quality time with youngest. While youngest is eating, I'm shopping at the other end ... Win BV win for all.

Need more staff here or an increase in capacity for making hot drinks. Ordered food - open toast sandwiches with avacado and egg and another one with bacon, scrambled egg etc. The food was fine but expensive for what you are getting - definitely overpriced. This is one of the only time in my eating career that the food was ordered, cooked and eaten before the coffee arrived. In fact the coffee arrived about 45 mins after we ordered. Completely ridiculous and no real world situation should justify this time frame. The coffee when it arrived was lukewarm and not worth the wait. Overall a disappointing experience.

Popped into this cafe for breakfast one morning and was so pleasantly surprised. The choices were all so delicious it was hard to choose! I went in feeling extremely hungry and left full to the brim! I had smashed avocado on sourdough with mushrooms, and then a chocolate cupcake after - it was all absolutely delicious! Thank you very much!

With family visiting Bristol who wanted to visit the Bristol harbour side, with its fantastic views, where better to have Brunch than the Better Food Cafe, in the new complex. We all had the great sour dough bread with different eggs, mushrooms etc. with Small but tasty Flat white coffee. it's a great vibrant community cafe too, with local family's, business people, all often with their bikes parked outside as it's on a cycle route.

Everything about this place, the fresh food section, takeaway outlet and the seating area was good. We arrived late morning and couldn't believe how quiet it was on this half term Monday morning. Our peppermint tea was served in generous size cups and the selection of food looked fresh and appetizing. We chose the savoury and two salad , a veggie roll with delicious beetroot and lentil and cauliflower and rice salad. A small plate but piled high with food. Lunch for two was £20.

The freshly squeezed juices took absolutely ages at a time when the shop and cafe were not that busy. We could see the blenders being ignored or would have thought the order had been forgotten. The menu is set up to show gluten free options but there were not any breakfast or brunch options actually marked as gluten free (not even the offer of gf bread toast with jam or with eggs etc- really weird as BetterfoodCo shops sell loads of specialist gf foods) def won't rush back. Cushions were a bit grotty too.

Oh dear, sat down at 9.30 and ordered two coffees and two toasts. The first coffee (decaf) came about 15 minutes later, but unfortunately, was luke warm, so I asked for another. The other coffee came 10 minutes later, which was fine. The second decaf came 5 minutes after that, at which time we enquired when the toast might be arriving, bearing in mind we had been sitting there for 30 minutes! It came 10 minutes later and was delicious soda bread and fresh raspberry jam. The two people behind the counter (one cooking and the other making coffees) seemed overwhelmed by the orders received (both sit down and take away). The young lady preparing the food did apologise for the delay, but it was pretty obvious that more staff were needed, as the cafe wasn't exactly thronging with customers. There is a good selection of healthy food and the coffee is really good, but it has put us off visiting again, as the delay was unacceptable. So, thank you to the two harassed members of staff and a note to the owners - you need to employ more!!

Better Foods sprung up last year and is predominantly a shop, selling organic / vegan / ethical foods. There is a varied selection of food on offer and the salad and dip plate is great for small plate, cheap eat lunch - approximately £4.50. The Brian Wogan coffee is really good quality and drinks are consistently well made. However, the service is incredibly slow and the cafe workers don't prioritise take-away orders over 'sit-ins', which can be frustrating if you're in a hurry. Alongside this, on occasion, staff completely ignore the fact you are waiting to be served and carry on with random tasks, such as washing dishes etc. Again, frustrating. This a nice place to sit in and enjoy a hot drink / eat, if you have the time and nowhere to be in a hurry.

We had a really excellent lunch of frittatas and assorted salads, organic beers, and coffee. The cakes also looked lovely, but we had no room left! Service was friendly and calm. Probably not the place for people in a tearing hurry but we appreciated it. Seating area was relatively basic but absolutely fine. Plenty of space for people with laptops and phones to use free wifi. My 86 year old Dad is fairly traditional in his tastes but really loved this food (and beer!) and the atmosphere. Great place to eat.

Nice little café, attached to the Better Food shop (great local, organic food). Lots to choose from, food looked good but we only had drinks. Mocha was nice! Seats outside were nice, but a bit squashed together and narrow. Service was a little flakey!

I went with my young son and wife during the run up to Christmas where I had booked a week off work to get my Christmas shopping done. It was a good day out overall, but sadly my attempt at some respite in this Costa was thwarted by one abhorrently rude member of staff. It started when I ordered our drinks at the till. Mine and my wife's drinks were fine, but when I asked about the free 'babycchino' for my son, the woman on the till- Anna- told me they had run out of the small cups for the kids drinks and that they'd have to charge us for a whole regular size cup of milk if we wanted one! After stating the obvious that Anna could simply put a small amount of milk in a regular cup, she huffed, poured out the drinks and abruptly handed me the tray. When we sat down, the tables were messy and sticky. Granted it was busy and the run up to Christmas, but basic hygiene is not a duty that should be shirked. After finishing I needed to use the restroom, so I went to the right of the tills and queued for use of the loo. When I got in there I could hardly breathe. The smell was awful. I went straight out to the tills and spoke to Anna again to tell her that the their toilets needed attention. I got the same huffy attitude from Anna who told me that they were nothing to do with her as the toilets were managed by Primark. She didn't even contact her Primark colleagues or a manager to let them know that someone had smeared excrement on the floor in there. Truly a shocking experience.

Branch in the Royal West of England Art Gallery, Queen’s Road, Bristol. Summer infusion teas were totally stunning and, unlike most cafes, had no sugar or syrup in them. Peach/Berry was superb and the Earl Grey (tho obviously a bit sour due to its nature) was also v good. (1 other flavour I didn’t try). Staff exceptionally friendly & helpful. Lovely venue (inside the Gallery building) with metal seats (I think it was) & small tables outside. NOTE a year’s Pass is currently £16 to visit exhibitions as much as 1 wants, so only about £5 or less each time.
