Best Wok Chinese Takeaway in Tonbridge and Malling

Food ok, service poor. Waited 30 minutes for a prebooked online order which was placed at 15.30 for collection for 17.30. Arrived early at 17.20. Food found at 18.00. Order was put into thermal box behind counter. Don't know how long it was there before it was handed over. Don't take the order or the money if order completion isnt achievable. I've been using Best Wok for years. I've been a loyal customer until now. Left disappointed and unvalued.

Ever since prices increased quality of food has drastically deteriorated. Very expensive, cold, fatty meat you couldn't chew. Rice bland, noodles like rubber bands. It had been bad the previous time I went but I gave it another chance thinking it was just an off day but latest experience has stopped me returning ever again. I shall be making my own at home in future..

Excellent food, especially meal for one which is exceptional value. Lovely staff will definitely be back. Returned with huge order for a Chinese takeaway night for residents where I live. Food excellent and everyone throughly enjoyed it. Thank you

Food average to good (can be hit and miss on the day). Due to increased prices, no improved in the consistency of good food being provided every order. They are no longer giving free items as advertised on menu. Time to use the other we use when best Wok was closed. Goodbye best wok 20+years of custom no longer coming your way.

Use regularly always good. Nothing to complain about ever. Meals always hot and service always good and efficient staff on the phone. Accommodate however you want your food and always busy so I think that's a good sign tp

I would like to say thank you to all the chefs for an excellent take away meal,and to the phone operators who took our order it was precise clear and instructions were clear,food was very hot cooked to perfection, and a scrummy taste,will be going back there again, and price wise was spot on, so again thank you to you all for a Fab U Lush meal.

Got a takeaway last night as my usual Chinese was closed. The chicken chow mein was very greasy and did not taste like any chow mein I have had before. It was that bad I could not eat it, the sweet and sour chicken balls were full of grease and the sauce was disgusting. I will not be going back!

Been in here on a few occasions and found it okay but nothing special. I ordered £40 of food over the phone to collect, when I got there the woman over the counter was on her mobile having a personal conversation, it was about 10 minutes before she even acknowledged me. When I arrived home and opened the containers we was shocked how bad the food was, chow mien was mushy, the ribs swimming in oil, chicken balls burnt, satay chicken looked like sick and the list goes on. We could not eat it and put the lot in the bin, I looked on tripadvisor and wish I done this before I ordered because of the bad comments. I would of asked for a refund but looking at what customers have written I don’t think I would have had any joy. Will never use again.

This was unbelievably disappointing. We have been going to Best Wok for 10 years. I told them that the beef dish was tasteless and because we had eaten some they said they would not offer a refund!! We were prepared to bring this to them too but told there was nothing they can do. Owner has a disgusting attitude to customer service, how they have a customer base is beyond me

Went last night (Saturday) early when opened at 5pm , my order was taken straight away and told wait would be 10 minutes. The order was for my parents, as a surprise for them as they have not been out due to lockdown. I got the food and delivered to my parents, they called me later to say the food was either overcooked or burnt. I went back collected and took it back to Best Wok, the sweet and sour balls were burnt, obviously heated in oven from previous night, the shredded duck was over cooked and like rubber once again from previous night, the special fried rice had about 4 peas and a couple of bits of ham. The prawn toasts were burnt. When the manager came out she looked and said some of the food had been eaten , and then then she threw a £10 note at me and told me to go elsewhere in future. DO NOT USE THIS CHINESE there are much better places in the area.

This is our local Chinese and I’ve always found the owners really plesant to deal with and our meals have always been really nice, yes sometimes can be abit salty but nothing to really moan about. I always look forward to a takeaway from them.

Best Chinese I have had in long time, either comes cold or just not nice (from other take aways) but Tonight was very good The Sweet & Sour Chicken Balls are the best around by far, just Delish Had to wait 1hour & 15 mins but def worth the wait

The food arrived extremely quickly. Unfortunately it was so salty we couldn’t eat it, all went in the bin! Won’t be using this takeaway again. Only gave one star as had to for review to be accepted.

Let's just say I would never go back to this Chinese if I got paid to! Ordered my Chinese at 5 to 8, got my delivery at 8.01. Some people may say this is good service but personally I think 6 minutes too quick to cook food and deliver it. When they knocked the door I was very shocked!When I went to unpack the food they had forgotten something. I phoned up and they delivered it very fast. When opening the food I was instantly disappointed. The food looked like left overs that had been reheated many times. I dished it up and tried it. It was the worse Chinese I have eaten in my life! It was all dry, the noodles were all stuck together like they had been reheated even the prawn crackers tasted of nothing. I phoned up the Chinese being very polite about it. The lady on the phone said she would tell the kitchen staff. She then come back to tell me "they wont give you a refund so you can go somewhere else". I asked to speak to the kitchen staff and as he come on the phone he was very rude by saying "what?" . At this point I didnt expect my money back I just wanted to make a complaint and maybe get an apology. However, the man was really rude and told me to bring my food back. As I walked in they was clearly waiting for me as I heard the lady behind the counter say 'here she is". I tried to be friendly to whilst she gave the kitchen staff my food but she was just rude and blunt! The kitchen staff then come out to me, this being 4 people behind the counter at one person. They offered me back £10 of my £27 spend!! He was really rude telling me to go to "Happy house" instead. He said he doesnt understand why he needed to say sorry on the phone. In the shop there is a sign saying no exchanges or refunds probably because they get this a lot with the poor quality of the food! Dont waist your money here and time if your looking forward to a nice Chinese

This is my local and have been going there for years, the food has always been of a relatively high standard, have never been overcharged and always received what was ordered! They now accept card payments but I believe there may be a minimum spend, even the service on the front desk has improved. This is one of two local Chinese takeaways in the area and certainly the better of the two!

The food really wasn’t very nice at all. The staff were quite unfriendly and they only accept payment by cash. While I was waiting for my food the delivery driver came in and went back out again moaning. I ordered a special chow mien and asked for no onion, the person taking my order said there was no onion in it anyway, guess what? There was onion in it. Also, the pork was like little diced pieces of fake meat, the sauce was like gravy and there was peas in it! Who on earth puts peas in a chow mien?The whole thing was so salty and disgusting that I ended up throwing it in the bin!Save yourself some money and just don’t bother!

I have been going to this take away for months now. Friendly staff, lovely cooked food.... definitely the best in the area

Wouldn’t bother with this Chinese anymore. We were overcharged by around £8 but because we didn’t have a menu we didn’t check till later.Their food was lukewarm and not at a great standard. Will we going elsewhere from now on. There’s plenty of other better ones in the area

Can't really understand the negative comments as I have always ordered from here. I attend in person and I am always greeted warmly by the staff. I recommend the beef, black bean(with chilli) as its the best in the area. Go and find out for yourselves how good it is.

Been using this restaurant most Saturday evenings for over 10 years! last Saturday's best combo starter came with 4 pieces of chicken instead of 2 pieces of chicken and 2 spare ribs, having placed our regular order tonight which generally comes to around £50, I explained what happend last week and requested that 2 spare ribs be included in tonight's order to be quite rudely told nothing I can do, should have told us last week. Just spent my money elsewhere and continue to do so from now on, I suggest everyone else does the same.

The staff are rude and arrogant which was not a great start, felt like I'd interrupted them having a nice chat. The food is disgusting, the chilli beef was not crispy but chewy and we were unable to eat it, the chow mein was swimming in grease, lemon chicken was tough and dry. I'd never go back here again

Use best wok often and they allow us to change the set menu to suit our taste. Delivery is good and pick up is super fast.

Wife and myself got a takeaway, had a starter and main each and shared a rice ordered small of everything. After eating what we could we still had a big box leftover in the fridge which was more than enough for lunch for two the next day.

They know us pretty well, food is very good, they don't mind changing the menu e.g. Adding or removing items. Always freshly cooked and it's hot when you get home

El Chino estaba cerrado, así que nos dieron una oportunidad a este lugar. Podría decir que así sólo echaban dinero en el váter no es una subestimación, ya que es lo que vino más tarde. La tostada empeñes, podías exprimir el aceite fuera de y fue hecha. La principal pollo chow estaba cubierto con una salsa chopsuey y viscosa. La carne estaba seco y duro. No es agradable, no es en absoluto agradable.

Relatives from the USA staying with us decided on a Chinese take out so we ordered from our local by telephone - we were told delivery within an hour - only put the phone down some 15minutes later the food arrived - piping hot plenty of it and excellent quality - cannot fault the service and food and good prices

No han sido aquí en años y utilizada para amor para conseguir comida desde aquí, pero parece que han ido cuesta abajo. La principal era muy aceitosa chow, me hizo sentir enfermo después de un tiempo. La salsa barbacoa tenía grandes bultos, como si no hubieran mezclado correctamente. La sopa caliente y amarga fue horrible, es normalmente Mi cosa preferida para llegar de una china para llevar, pero éste era muy aguada y sin sabor. Las tostadas de gambas y langostinos galletas saladas donde Muy grasiento. No vamos a volver.

Just had a chicken chowmein and sweet and sour king prawn balls . Way too much soy in the chow mein . It was almost black . Please watch this as it ruined my dinner .

Popped in for Chicken Curry and Egg Fried Rice. Very good. 'Real' chicken if you know what I mean and nice rice and sauce. Not bad at all.

Order from here regularly. Always get good quality food with good portion sizes at a good price. The delivery is quick too.

Good food, delivered on time, at a good price. Portions of good size. Some options have a size option, we picked large but small would have been good enough! Will use again.Needs onsite presence with menu, otherwise you are ordering blind.

I'm surprised by some of the bad reviews on here (maybe a rival take away??) if they are genuine, I am not sure what people are expecting it's a take away not a top Chinese restaurant ! In my opinion the food is ok and I've had takeaways from here for years and have never had cause to complain and its reasonably priced. The delivery people have always been pleasant and the food delivered hot and on time, which is exactly what you want from a take out !

Work very hard , and once a month we get a take away.This is the worst chinese we have ever had. noodles wear very soggy, pork balls wear like burnet golf balls, chips wear so dry' must of been fried loads of times., ribs very salty,.To serve food like this should be against the law..

Great food, always piping hot and freshly cooked. They give yo u good portion sizes and free prawn crackers. They deliver also.

This place has got to be the worst takeaway for miles ! I thought I would give it a try the other night as I like to experience new places. The place was empty & I was served by a very rude womam who was more interest talking to her friend than taking my order which irritated me a bit. When I took my order home to my family we was absolutly shocked how bad the food was, the chow mein was mushy greasy (obviusly reheated a few times) the spare ribs had no meat & the sauce was swimming in oil, the sweet & sour pork balls was burnt and fried too death and the list goes on. I was very angry & if it wasnt for the fact I put my car in our garage for the night I would of took the order back and told the woman where to stick the food ! Reading some of the reviews on this place its very hard to believe them ? "cheap" "good food" come on people its either your lying or you dont go anywhere else. This is the worst takeaway around.

I found myself Hungry at 10.15 pm last Night, and had to go a mile or so out my way to go to the Chinese. I ordered the set meal for One (£9.50) but I changed the set meal to a Chicken Curry and a few extra Chicken Balls instead of the Spring Roll. I enjoyed the meal and even have some left, for a snack today (It Nuclears up Ok, to eatable status, the next day). I can't say too much about the other items on the menu, as I am one of those people that don't change my meal, once I have found and enjoyed a certain set up, all I am waiting for now is the person on the other side of the till, to order my food up without asking me, as the last place did, that is now gone, in another part of Maidstone, for Urban development. (Plus I ave moved across town in the last few years) and this Chinese is decent tasting to pass my levels of acceptance.

This is my local Chinese takeaway. I've been ordering food from here for approx. 6 years and have enjoyed every meal we've had. Service is great, staff are polite and friendly, and meals are super quick to prepare. I tend to order, walk down the street and by the time I arrive, a steaming hot delicious meal is waiting for me. Free delivery for orders is available which is an added bonus if you prefer. Cash only, no credit cards which isn't a major problem as a ATM in the wall next door. Definitely recommend this take away. No seating - its definitely just a takeaway, not a restaurant.

My first couple of orders were decent, but in the last year it has been down hill ever since. Pink looking chicken balls, unfriendly delivery service coupled with their food arriving late without fail has just honestly put me off Chinese food at this establishment. Also, ridiculously expensive given the amount of meat that I am given in any curry, chow mein or rice dish

Love going here for the hot and sour soup, it's the best I've ever had! Also love the pancake rolls and prawn crackers. The portions are quite big as well so well worth it

Fairly standard Chinese take a way but always good portions,tasty and quickly prepared not tried delivery as live close enough to collect extensive menu with some house specials crispy duck was particularly good.

This is now a firm favourite in my family for Chinese takeaways on the West side of Maidstone.Previously liked Crown City in Teston, but that was always more expensive than everywhere else for marginally better food.Then discovered Best Wok a few years ago, where the food is as good as Crown City and about 25% cheaper. Never had a bad meal from there, nor do I know anyone who has. Service is incredibly quick. Even ordering at the counter on a Saturday evening, it's normally ready in 10 - 15 minutes.Seems to always have customers, even at 10.50pm on a wet Tuesday night, so must be doing something right. The best West-of-Maidstone Chinese takeaway - and I've tried a few!

Good food at normal takeaway prices. Usual assortment of chinese food well cooked. Delivery service if required. No long queues early evening.

Worst chinese me and my husband have ever had... I would never go back and eat here. The chow mein was soggy, rice had spam in it very concerning, we too have neon satay and all the food was greasy and didn't right...

The chow mein was over cooked and mushy, the chicken balls were extremely greasy and the satay sauce wasn't right, it was neon yellow/green coloured and had chunks of pineapple or something in it.

I've lived in a fair few places around the UK, and generally found a decent enough Chinese nearby, but as luck would have it, probably the best one ever is now my local! They do the chunkiest, juciest prawn toast I have ever encountered - whenever I have it elsewhere now, I am disappointed in comparison. Portions are huge and so is the choice on the menu. Everything I have tried has been amazing.
