Berwick on Tweed A Lovely little town with a complete Elizabethan town wall and cannonades worth a visit for that alone. It's the only one on the country There is the first purpose built town barack's which was still used until recently Well worth a stop off for a stretch of legs and for the views from the ramparts. Banburgh Castle We visited this attraction as part of a coach trip and was not a long stop to visit rather to have a walk and a photo opportunity. A stop at Banburgh castle is essential if you are in Northumbria as It's very imposing and of course used for many films. We did not visit the castle itself but walked around the village and got photos of the castle. It's essentially a Victorian rebuild in the main but nonetheless imposing. The car park is conveniently located at the bottom of the hill and has a lovely ice cream van there which we of course indulged in!!

A Bar & Restaurant in one. We were offered beer tasters before ordering drinks and the range of food in the restaurant was excellent, spoilt for choice really. The staff were great too and we also liked the decor and ambience of Atelier don't miss out if you are in the area.

This place doesn’t have a clue what a vegan is. The castle was described to us by a cafe owner as a pile of bricks and stones … got that wrong

Everybody we saw eating and Chips in Berwick was happy to tell us that they had bought them from 'Cannons' so we set out to find it. Situated on Castlegate there is parking but we had to park across the road in a car park. We went for supper and were immediately told that 'the pensioners' meal' would be quite sufficient for us. It was, in fact one meal would have been enough for two of us! Everything was good, the fish and chips were delicious and the tea was served in a pot! A lovely meal in a quaint setting.

We had an excellent lunch there today. The roast beef in the baguette was the thickest I have ever seen in a sandwich and the accompanying salad, potatoes and coleslaw were all gorgeous. The only slight disappointment was it was listed under the hot sandwich section but came cold. When I asked why they said the panini and ciabatta versions come hot but the baguette one doesn't. The waitress apologised. That didn't reduce my enjoyment of the meal though. We have always found the service really good too.

Poorly cooked food. Gammon should have been grilled not pan fried. The residue fat left on plate unacceptable.Had far superior meal at a truck stop cafe.

What a amazing experience... Overnight stay with dinner & breakfast included and also a full body massage. The staff were very friendly and polite. The food was delicious. Matilda's massage was so so relaxing, she did a fabulous job... Will definitely be back...

I visited the hotel only for a night due to a meeting I had to attend the following day in the town. The location of the hotel was perfect just opposite the train station and the person at the reception was very friendly. As I arrived just before 9 pm I questioned if the restaurant was still open in order to have some dinner but they informed me that restaurant closed at 19.30?! I thought it is too early and I had never experienced it in any other hotel. Once I joined the room there was a funny smell coming out from the bathroom and the room was super cold even though the heating was slightly on. Especially inside the bathroom I was freezing so I had to take a shower very quickly and jump inside the bed in order to warm up myself which isn’t very relaxing after hours of travelling. Lastly the following day even though my company’s reservation was breakfast included, in the morning I had been given the choice of complimentary breakfast only which was very very limited. Not even to mention that the check out was 10 am and the cleaners were speaking loudly outside of my room since 9 am stressing me out while just 5 minutes before 10 am I heard them saying “come on people 10 am is the checking out time” which I can definitely say it is not the way any hotel should perform. Overall it was a disappointing visit and I would never come back.

Its a shame the pub isn't open at lunchtime, but the owner did explain he can't get the staff or chefs. The area desperately needs a pub open at lunchtime, even although 1st Nov is considered "out of season" (the three surrounding caravan parks were all still busy). Very friendly owner, good beer, didn't sample the food in the evening. There aren't really any "cosy nooks" - it seems arranged for busy summer meal times. Dog friendly too.
