We are new to the area and popped in to see what it was like. We were very impressed from the first moment we walked in. Very clean and tidy. Very bright and airy. Real plants used to decorate were well maintained. We received prompt and informative information from all the friendly and professional staff. Our orders were taken and very promptly filled. The food arrived hot and well presented. It tasted fabulous and we could not leave without complimenting the manager in person. Well done to everyone. We will be back.

Having not been able to eat at the Morrisons Cafe, Tesco don't have one. one of the Tesco staff recommended coming here. The menus is quite ordinary, but fits the job, with a specials board as you enter the Cafe. I found a table and went to order at the counter as requested. This is where things went wrong. I read what I wanted from the menu, and was greeted with question after question as if I was speaking another language. The staff member recognised I wanted the fish, I repeated the accompaniment's I wanted, i.e. skin on rosemary fries and a salad. With a pot of tea. She came pack with do you want chips, do you want peas, Do you want a drink with that. Either the woman had a short memory or wasn't listening I don't know. When I said I have already told you what I want, she retorted. 'Don't be flippant with me'. At this point I put my money back into my wallet and walked out. She was so rude!

On pointing this out, I was advised that these cups and saucers were for" cappuccino's" only and was also told that you "would get exactly the same amount of coffee in a mug as you get in a cup and saucer"!! At this point my mind was registered numb, I took two mugs of coffee to the table and spent the next ten minute looking out of the window like a zombie, wondering where I had gone wrong!!,

Tried the Kingfisher restaurant at Berwick Garden Centre for a quick snack while exploring the north part of Northumberland. It didn't disappoint. It was just after lunch time and the place was pretty full. They offer basic but homely grub all homemade mostly using local produce. You can buy some of the food in the nearby, well stocked, farm shop in the garden centre. I went for the Baked potato with Haggis and Cheese served hot (£4.95). Huge spud with layers of crumbled haggis and tons of melted cheese.Very good and very filling. Came with a small green salad with a rich balsamic dressing. Nice. Went well with a bottle of local stout. The other had one of their homemade Quiches (they make different ones each day), served with a light salad and homemade coleslaw. Again quite a plate full and tasted good (£4.95).The place is bright and clean. You can even sit outside when the weather is good. Staff were very friendly, chatty and worked hard to please. The garden centre is well packed and apart from the local produce in the farm shop (great bread by the way) they also have a good stock of other goods and trinkets such as candles, smellies, posh soap etc. Great place to visit if passing.

Always loved to go here for its delicious huge yummy scones with a nice cuppa. Even had an offer for years of 2 scones with 2 drinks for £4.99. gulp !! No more. Could deal with the non existent offer but NOT with what they did with the scones. We live about 15 miles from here and whilst doing our shopping, a nice place to drop in for a cuppa. No more. The price is the same £1.75 but the scone is about half the size it was . Also, it has the texture of a cake rather than a scone. As for the fruit ? Hah, what fruit ! We managed to find 4 pieces in the whole scone!! I asked to speak to the owner, a young Chef who apparently has run the business for 5 years. He said the scones have not changed. I don't think he bothers to taste them. I notice the scones have changed during the height of the tourist season when bus loads of people drop in for a meal. I think they must be trying to get more while giving out less and letting their standards drop. People on holiday don't mind getting ripped off, may be his thinking . My husband and I were hugely disappointed. I was also disappointed at the owners attitude. His main goal is to make money . sorry folks, but I would suggest you go further up the A1 to Morrison's or McDonalds . Morrison's does not skimp and the quality of their food is very good. As for the restaurant at this garden centre, I would avoid this place unless you want to throw your money away. I won't be returning.

I agree with other reviewers that the quality of food is not as good as it used to be in this restaurant. Some hot dishes do seem to sit and wait in their containers for a good while. Service can be slow - the hot food can be cool by the time you have stood in a slow moving queue to pay for it. There should be a more efficient method of serving coffee and tea so it doesn't hold up others waiting to pay. This restaurant is OK for those shopping for plants or in the gift shop who want a snack or casual lunch. The place can get extremely busy especially if a coach party has stopped by - so be prepared for queues.

The café and the kingfisher restaurant are both very good. There is plenty of choice whether you want a snack or a full meal. The food is good but it is not cheap to eat here but garden centres usually are pricey anyway. There is also a good range of food to buy and a selection of clothes and wooden furniture. Tropical fish and some birds can be bought as well it has just about all you would expect from a garden centre with ample free parking as well. Definitely would recommend for a visit too good to miss.

Im amazed, can this lady not see what a dumb statemant that is, it doesnt even make sense, plus,if people are paying they should gladly give cups out, and lastly, she could see i was with my children, a 2 year old and a 5 year old. as if they would drink a pot each!Disgrace, i probably spend £10 a week in that cafe, thats £520 a year that i will now gladly give to another cafe who will not give me lip about my kids sharing my tea.

But if you're a food guru then I'm afreai it will be very disappointing. :( Not a very inspiring menu, pricey unless you go for the snack menu and don't expect much of a laugh with the cafe staff either - shame really as it has a nice area which spreads to the outside, lovely on a nice day.

food was dire, very expensive for the portion size ,macaroni cheese and a salad ( which consisted of 2 bits of lettuce one slice of tomato and a bit of dried up cucumber !

We always use this Garden Centre as a stop off point if we are heading north on the A1. Good clean toilets and a place to stretch and have a bit to eat. I've usually found the service friendly but the food is a bit pricey. Look for the sandwich and jacket potato menu if you don't want the full meal. Very good coffee! They have a small selection of books and some lovely gifts and we often get a picnic from the food section. They also sell good frozen foods-the scones are great!

Called on our way home - was impressed by a good selection of gifts - must admit didn't look at plants as this was not a priority at that point.

Good wholesome food and generous servings but waiting for staff to stop chatting while one person did everything was irritating! Especially as it was a busy day!

lovely stock, plants gifts, etc dog friendly as long as on a lead, not in the restaurant, nice selection of food, one thing that bugs me tho is depending who is on the 2 tills, when u go in a hello would be nice from certain ones and a smile, not good for new people visiting, a smile does no harm, apart from that, i like going in, just a nice selection and a nice rummage

Came here twice for breakfast over the last festive period. Excellent value and friendly buffet-style service. The garden centre also sells a tremendous variety of goods, not just the usual suspects one would expect in a garden centre. Well worth a visit.

Most of the staff are very pleasant but we did run across one who apparantly has been troublesome to others beside ourselves.. We happened to mention to friends if they had eaten there and then our experience of being fobbed off by this one waitress and they immediatley piped in that they had trouble with her too. Lovely to look out onto garden area. Eaten there often, the downstairs cafe and never been disappointed. However , we did go upstairs one sunday lunch and were so disappointed we decided not to go there again.

Stopped off for breakfast and found automation had caught up with Morrisons, in the form of an automated ordering system. Finding our way around the screen wasn't quite as easy as big Mac and KFC equivalents but we did manage it, only just. Wanting to pay by cash, however, was even more difficult as the robot doesn't accept anything except credit cards so customer, much against the chagrin, had to use plastic. The breakfasts, when they arrived, was excellent and without doubt value for plastic.

Called in at lunchtime for a couple of drinks. This is the second time but no more. A man, the same on both occasions standing at bar had the foulest loud mouth He was actually talking to the barman and two others Every other word began with "f' He had a dog with him This time he pulled seat out at one of the tables for his dog to sit at Absolutely disgusting. My husband mentioned to barman who grinned and apologised Not good enough

Nice little hotel bar right on the Main Street of Alnwick I had drink several times during our stay in Alnwick. Margaret had the chilli which she said was nice. I wasn’t hungry so had the potato skins which came with a barbecue sauce and garlic mayo, which were ok but out of a bottle.

Asked for two teas with extra teabag and was informed the charge would be £2.60 extra. Discussed with my husband and decided to have coffee instead. Went back to the ordering area but had to wait while the two members of staff were discussing overtime hours with another member of staff. After going back to the table my husband who had an ‘americano’ needed more cold milk. Once again went to ask for some but must wait while one assistant was showing the other how to fill a serviette dispenser. Poor service and TEABAGS AT £2.60 EACH - Shame on you MARKS AND SPENCER.
