Thank You Chef - The food was excellent and a really good selection of vegetarian starters and mains. Lovely presentation and lots of great taste but a special note for the Chocolate Fondant which had gooey warm chocolate in the middle of a light tasty sponge with burnt orange gel, which had such a lovely intense flavour, combined with the chocolate and lovely grand mariner ice cream was an absolute 5 star crowd pleaser. Special mention for the lovely service from the young lady who served us on wednesday evening.

Just over 20 guests had afternoon tea here. The food was ok apart from the deconstructed carrot cake ( I jokingly called it decomposed!). The service was hectic to say the least. A few guests had dietary requirements and it all went up the spout. Vegan was given salmon and buttery cakes, vegetarian had a ham sandwich and gluten free scones (which wasn't needed). It took a while before everyone had the correct food. The setting is lovely though and as I have no dietary requirements, I would probably go back.

Lovely hotel beautiful grounds ,could do with a few more real paintings as they removed many a few years ago So. Now it looks like a library but still very pleasant. The restaurant is pretty and overlooks the grounds, the staff very welcoming and the waiter was helpful and just perfect. The food was nouvel cuisine type of presentation, I found it too fussy too many tastes on On the plate , it looked beautiful and work had gone into making it look attractive, the steak was nice But the veggies were presented as works of art, with a confusion of tastes, and small blobs all over the plate, the starter of scallops was tasty but again take a few of the blobs away..we had complimentary bread I think it was all toasted Perhaps to revive it, and an amuse Bouche which was complimentary as well and that was very tasty, if they sort out the food a bit more make it less fussy they could be onto a winner if they don’t I won’t go back. The bar food has good food.the wine was good as well. The price with one glass of champagne and one glass of wine each £140 for two for that I expect decent food.

My daughter suffers from 2 chronic conditions which causes many food allergies. I booked this restaurant several months ago, having ascertained that they could manage her food allergies, as eating out can pose some challenges at times. I spoke to the events manager last week & we organised a menu that she could eat but the chef tonight obviously had no idea of this & was rather loud in his disapproval. It transpired that we had to leave the restaurant without eating. We live very close to Taplow House Hotel & really like the venue & the food that we have been served there but I have to say that the service has been consistently poor. Basically the front of house lets down the venue & the quality of food that the kitchens can produce.

I booked Berry's restaurant for my wife birthday and overall we had a very enjoyable and nice dinner experience. The booking for the table was made very easy and unlike other restaurants I know, I was not forced to buy a specially made cake for my wife, but instead offered to write "happy birthday" on the table of either dessert she would fancy. Upon arrival, we were greeted by the reception who directed us to the restaurant. We arrived early so we had a drink at the bar before hand and we used to time to select whatever food we fancied on the day. Everyone was very attentive to us and that made the whole experience even more relaxed. The restaurant was extremely quiet, so I would not be able to judge on a busy day, please bear this in mind. The decor and the environment is extremely relaxing and we were placed on a table overlooking the garden which we fully enjoyed. The menu itself was plentiful and reasonably priced. I could only recommend to go for the 3 courses dinner. The main reason for me to say that, is mainly due to the fact that this restaurant has good portions, but not so much that you feel full after the starter. I truly enjoyed the fact that we could appreciate a three course dinner without feeling full after only the starter. I had the gazpacho which was ok (but not quite to the same level as the one I had in Sevilla few years ago), the ribeye steak and a coffee for dessert. My wife enjoyed the sundried tomato croquettes which was absolutely lovely, baby chicken for main and the meringue for dessert.Overall the food is of good quality and the experience was extremely enjoyable. I would definitely recommend if you looking for a nice and quiet restaurant serving a well balanced dinner.

My wife and I went there for our anniversary meal on a Tuesday night earlier this month. My wife is Gluten intolerant so I asked about gluten free (GF) meals before booking and was assured that they would have GF options.First impressions were good as it was a lovely spring evening and the hotel looked good in the late evening sun. As we approached the restaurant through the main reception my wife spotted the menu on the wall and took a look at what was on offer (gave her the option of going somewhere else if he really wasn't happy and reassured her that I had spoken to them in advance about GF).The restaurant isn't that large but there are very large mirrors on the walls creating a feeling of more space. As it was my wife and I were the only dinners so service was good and we had a lovely table by the window,There was background piano music which varied in volume and at times was way too loud. When we were presented the menus I mentioned my earlier booking conversation about GF and we were told that there wasn't specific GF foods but most could be provided in a GF form. The menus we were shown had different options to what was on the wall outside and on their own website! Apparently trying out some new options.Hot rolls and butter were provided on the table but no GF options, not a good start!Main meal was fine, my wife had chicken so not an issue. When the desert menu arrived there were no GF options so my wife again asked what was available. Told again that could have GF option. My wife ordered the pistachio cake. Came minus the cake, not really GF cooking when you just take away the part in the meal that has gluten in it.

If you are going to use Groupon to get more people into your restaurant, you need to ensure you have the correct level of staffing available - simple common sense - wouldn't go back again which is a shame. I had a groupon voucher which I'm glad I had because it certainly wasn't worth the £18.95. A very important part to an afternoon tea in my eyes is the tea. Taplow house doesn't offer you a menu of different tea. The waitress only mention a few black teas after we asked what was available. I later found out that they also had jasmine tea and a few others. Would have been nice to try them.Another big issue for me was the fact that I specifically booked for one vegetarian menu. This was confirmed by the waitress when we got seated. However when the tiers arrived I saw the cakes and I knew these weren't all suitable for vegetarian which was confirmed by the waitress once I challenged this. To me this is very disappointing that the vegetarian menu didn't offer cakes.Concerning the service it started well but once the food was one the table no one came to see us at all. I was hoping for a bit more tea but it was never offered. We sat with our empty plates for over 30 minutes. Eventually we called for the bill and left with the empty plates still on the tables. The restaurant itself has a nice decor and the view of the garden were very pleasant. For me, for a luxury afternoon tea they are better place to go to. This afternoon tea isn't bad just not special. But if you are vegetarian please avoid.

My fiance and I had dinner here 3 nights ago. The food was very, very good. I normally avoid pork meat (don't really like it that much) but had this and was not disappointed. The dish is a duo ok pork loin and pork belly, which was cooked almost to perfection. Presentation of all three courses was good, food tasted even better. And the best part is that if you arrive early enough or make a reservation, you can choose one of the tables overlooking the beautiful gardens, which adds to your culinary experience. The staff are very nice, knowledgeable and eager to serve. You may want to dress up just a tad bit when you go here - you will feel like you are having a fine dining experience, and I must say that their choice of food on the menu is not far off from being called fine dining. Highly recommended in Taplow. Lots of parking available as well as outdoor seating if you are going for drinks only.

Set Sunday lunch was just above average. It would not have been so had I not has a Tastecard which gave my wife and I a 50% discount. The helpings were generous but the roast beef was a bit overcooked. The desert was tasteless. Shame that the restaurant was almost empty (not the hotel's fault). Service was OK but basics were lacking like no mustard on tables. I think they will get there but a bit more panache is needed to do justice to a fine building and a lovely setting. We will try again.

The location is amazing and service is great, shame the food is very average and far too expensive. The crab salad had no dressing at all, and the lamb pink and very fat. All in all, a pub lunch would have been more good value for money. A disappointing experience on Mother's Day...

From the moment my family and I arrived we were greeted by friendly and knowledgable staff. The food was first class and great value for money. We were stuck on wine and the head waiter suggested a fantastic French red. Thank you for an enjoyable evening, we will be back and have already recommended to friends.

We had the restaurant to ourselves which I think is a reflection of its popularity. It is set in an elegant room and being able to choose the table and level of music was a bonus. The menu choice is limited. I suspect that there is one kitchen serving the whole hotel and it's prime focus is not Berry's. With conferences staying at the hotel the kitchen will be primarily geared to ensuring conference delegate dinners are catered for efficiently. Our waiter as much hinted at that as the timing of our various courses arriving was somewhat random considering we were the only diners. The food was fine if a little over cooked in places but not fine dinning. The wine list is limited. Not a restaurant you could see having a regular clientele .

Having seen the pictures of The Taplow Hotel and the details of Berry's restaurant on their website I thought what a good place to go for an elegant meal with my wife. Pre Valentines Day as I thought it may be to busy on that day as the restaurant was advertising a special Valentines menu.Arriving at the hotel at 8:00pm which you approach from a winding driveway there was about 6 cars in the car park and with the hotels elevated position you could see lights in just about every window, but unfortunately the exterior lighting was not on. The 6 acres of grounds which are to the right were full of nice little bunny rabbits hopping around in the shadows who quickly darted away as we walked to the hotel. Now hereby lies a problem, where was the entrance. It is obviously quite clear in daylight but in the dark we had no idea that what was ahead of us with stone stairs leading to large terraces was in fact the back of the hotel with the entrance being right round the other side. Walking along like lost souls we looked in each window and there was no sign of anybody in the building which was not what we had expected. Having eventually found the front door we were immediately greeted and shown to the restaurant through a timber panelled bar with a roaring fire devoid of any people and into a grand dining room (Berry’s Restaurant) which had to our relief another couple eating, so we were not alone. We were presented with the al a carte menu which was limited to 5 starters, 5 mains and 5 desserts at a fixed price of £23.95 for two courses or £27.95 for three courses. This was rather disappointing as we had expected more choice from a restaurant awarded a two AA Rosette status. The service was quick and efficient and we were soon drinking a reasonable bottle of French red wine priced at £19.00. Our starters of smoked salmon with a poached egg on top and pate were good and the continuous supply of hot bread rolls was most welcome. The main courses of plaice and chicken breasts which arrived with the Maitre de being followed by a butler carrying two plates each covered by a highly polished domed cover were placed in front of us by the Maitre de and then the domes removed to reveal the main courses. Nothing exciting here and rather disappointing in presentation and taste considering the pomp and ceremony involved in its serving. Dessert of Crème brulee with a shortbread biscuit and a fresh strawberry was very good.Having paid the bill £80 plus tip we retraced our steps through the hotel and back to the car park. Again not a soul in sight either inside or outside of the Hotel but the rabbits were still there with their wet fur glistening in the rain.I understand that this is a great venue for weddings and from what we could see in the dark of the lawns and the grand areas within the hotel it would certainly be ideal in that respect. As a stand alone restaurant disappointing and have graded accordingly.

Set in a boutique type hotel with lovely views of the grounds the restaurant could have potential. We were the only diners on a mid week day which is fine for me but I feel sorry for the staff and restaurant. The menu seemed interesting and good value but unfortunately that was all. Starter of Goats cheese on salad was very plain and nothing special. Onto the main and the lamb was fine but the potatoes were slightly underdone which is not excusable for any chef. So not a memorable experience but with a few glasses of white was a pleasant enough lunch!

Not overly impressed with this place at all. It was absolutely dead, which is never a good sign. I ordered the pigeon breast for starter - it was very tough with no flavour. For main, I had the lamb - was 70% fat and came out luke warm with underdone potatoes and asparagus that had been boiled to death. My partner had the same and, with the least expensive wine, the bill came to over £100. Had we not had 50% off food with Tastecard, I suspect my comments would be a little stronger! The place has got the potential to be exceptional, I don't know why it was so poor. Will not be visiting again.

I booked for afternoon tea as I was waiting for the commencement of an evening reception at the Taplow House hotel. The staff were very charming and the service throughout was particularly impressive-hugely polite and attentive. I wanted to linger over my tea and at no point was I in any way rushed. Offers to refill my teapot were forthcoming. Granted, it wasn't the best selection of cakes and sandwiches I had ever had but the service and the views out over the stunning hotel grounds more than made up for this.

I live locally and occasionally dine at other hotel restaurants in the area (Cliveden, Danesfield) and decided to give Berry's a try for Sunday lunch with a friend. Although Berry's isn't as luxurious as some of its neighbours' dining rooms - the decor is slightly tired and a bit old-fashioned - we had a really nice Sunday lunch and would thoroughly recommend it. It was refreshing to be offered free still or sparking water, and a full bread basket containing several very tasty breads - again, free. Our menu had three choices of starter, main and dessert. We had three courses for a very good value £18, which included a delicious and well-presented version of the traditional Sunday roast. The list of wines by the glass was sufficient and once again it was a nice surprise not to be stung on the wine price - average was about £4.00-£5.00 a glass. The food was of a very good quality and well-flavoured, with substantial portions that didn't leave us hungry. It wasn't amazing food, but it was good. The staff were friendly and unpretentious. All in all, we had a very nice meal and were pleased with the bill. We left happy and will definitely go again, although I would probably choose somewhere slightly more glamorous for a special occasion.

My partner booked a night at Taplow House Hotel as a birthday treat for me. The hotel itself was fine - good size room, comfy bed, nice grounds etc. The meal which was included in the price of the weekend was however very disapppointing. As it was a Friday night we expected it to be reasonably busy but there were only two other couples eating there, both of which finished and left before we started our main course (not the fault of the hotel but this did give the evening a rather uncomfortable feel). The food itself was not the standard I was expecting, small portions and lacking flavour (very salty rosti). The biggest disappointment though was the fact that the tables around us were being cleared while we ate, making us feel that we should rush to finish eating. It wasn't even as if it was particularly late. Our table was booked for 8pm but by 9pm we felt in the way.Don't think we'll be returning!

If you want a change from gastro pubs, try Berry's the restaurant of the Taplow House Hotel. The dining room is elegant with comfortable tables and seating offering a little space from your fellow diners. The F&B Manager , Michael, doubled as Maitre D on the night we dined and was a charming and amiable host for the evening. In the end though the food has to 'rule' and it came out tops. The menu is not extensive but offers more than adequate choice. There is an obvious emphasis on fresh and local ingredients which are prepared and used in high quality dishes. Our party really enjoyed the three course meal which was incredible value at £25 per head. Highly recommended to all!

Berry's at Taplow House Hotel is a hidden gem. The hotel is on a quiet, winding road north of Taplow, the house itself barely visible, but when you drive through the gates you see a beautiful lawns sweepiong down in front of a quite splendid building. One of the trees is said to have been planted by Elizabeth I. Berry’s restaurant is delightful: quite formal but stylish and complete with chandelier, Tudor rose-themed cornicing and a portrait of Bess herself. There's a set menu at reasonable prices (£22 for two courses, £25 for three) very good value considering the standard and the setting. The menu carries five choices for each course. My friend’s smoked salmon and cream cheese risotto topped with quail’s egg and salmon caviar was creamy and tasty. I had twice-baked crab souffle with a brandy and dill sauce had good texture, lots of flavour, and a very rich sauce. Other starter choices included terrine of venison with prunes soaked in port, and duck liver and foie gras parfait with fig chutney. Home made breads were good, with a choice of butters. My haunch of rabbit with black pudding wrapped in Parma ham on a braised red cabbage with fondant potato was certainly packed with hearty country flavours. Roasted pork belly and tenderloin with creamy mash and mustard sauce was my friend’s choice. The belly fell apart as required, the tenderloin was as tender and sweetly flavoured as it should be. And as in all the dishes we tasted, seasoning and flavouring spot on. For anyone looking for lighter options, there were seared tuna loin, chicken breast and baked goats cheese in puff pastry. Some interesting dishes on the dessert menu: iced banana and pistachio parfait with tempura battered bananas and honeycomb, for example, or passion fruit trifle with an oat and coconut biscuit. But I went for comfort food with Granny Smith apple tart, served with cinnamon custard and apple sorbet. Cooked fresh to order, it was perfectly comforting with the highlight of a very good, tart sorbet. My friend was set on hot chocolate fondant which was light but chocolatey, and the sorbet was fabulous – I tried some and it was deeply fruity with the sweet wine singing the high notes.I was very impressed with the food and the service and felt the restaurant deserved to be busier than it was, but then the hotel caters for lots of corporate events and weddings too so the team is certainly kept busy.

Nice atmosphere, friendly staff. The croissants are nice but not perfect, they need a little more bite. We gave them 6/10. The coffee was a bit disappointing, only 5/10. Great to see Monmouth beans used, but to be completely honest, the finished product is a level below independent coffee shops in London. The ratio of milk to coffee and water to coffee were off in our flat white and black americano, respectively. Still, nice place and I hope if they read this review they can take the comments constructively, because Beaconsfield needs a good independent coffee shop and we're counting on you!

Quite busy for a Wednesday lunchtime, but space enough for the 4 of us. Ordered 1 x fish & Chips, 1 x Scampi & Chips & 1 x Fish pie which was shared by 2 (to be honest more than enough). All delicious and plates cleared. We followed with 3 x Apple Crumble & Ice cream (as opposed to custard) but when requested were more than happy to provide cream as well. AND 1 x Ice cream - I just needed something sweet, a scoop of vanilla & salted caramel . . . job done. All beautifully presented, but sadly I have no photo's as I wanted to eat, not photograph!
