Bernie's Kitchen in Mendip

Tasty. Lovely meal after watching a movie. Nice lighting. Comfy as chairs. Polite and relaxed waitress. Good wine. Good flavours in both meals: fish / sizzling chicken. Generous portions. Enjoyed meal - everything pleasant, professional - will recommend and return..

Disappointing - arrived 7pm and ordered whole Sea Bass and Fillet steak. Wine expensive for quality - £32 a bottle for what was a mediocre red. Food arrive around 8pm - Sea Bass was whole fish, with head and tail and skin on - not a problem and well cooked. Steak looked fine slightly undercooked but after the first mouthful it was very chewy - not able to eat it, or cut it. They took this off the bill but didn't offer anything for spoiling the evening. It was my birthday meal so it ruined the experience completely. A real shame as the restaurant has a nice ambience.

We went for our staff Christmas party, from beginning to end the whole experience was totally amazing. We arranged to meet before opening time in order to ‘dress’ the table, nothing was too much trouble for them. The food was outstanding, the staff were totally attentive, Bernie’s is the place to go to. Thank you for making our get together unforgettable

New addition to Wells dining scene. Don’t live locally but have tried many restaurants over many years in Wells. Bernies short menu (great!). Service was good and we were well looked after. Starters were presented well and had great taste. Steaks arrived and they were excellent (Fillets), some of the biggest steaks we have had. Great value for money and very comfortable restaurant. Will be back, when next in Wells.

Excellent dining experience. Warmly greeted and very well looked after throughout the meal. Jackie out host was charming and the food was out of this world. One of the best meals I've ever had! Everything cooked to perfection, you can tell real care has gone into every part of the meal. The wine we had was also excellent, sourced from a very local business. We are very lucky to have this talent in Wells! A very happy birthday celebration was had from the Slights :) Highly Highly recommend - a true hidden gem!!!

Overpriced food. Both starters tasted bland, tempura prawns obviously brought in frozen, Steaks were £35 each, come on a sizzler and was really undercooked, the meat was chewy and not good quality for fillet, chips and leaf salad on the side and £4 extra for what tasted like packet peppercorn sauce. Two starters, two steaks, two glasses of wine and a beer £120 with gratuity,not good value.

Sunning food, great service a little hidden gem for Wells. We have been hearing great reviews and have been waiting for a date night to experience Bernie’s. We weren’t disappointed. Highly recommend. A little pricey but you get what you pay for. It’s only had a few covers, so recommend booking!

We were greeted warmly on our arrival and allowed to choose our table. The atmosphere was lovely and the food even better. The staff were very attentive and friendly. We would highly recommend.

Lovely cosy small restaurant with around 8 tables. The food was presented well and was completely delicious. I ordered the beef rib and it was one of the best meals I’ve ever had. 10/10 would recommend!
