I used to go to Benugo every day for my green tea. However, since they put the prices up by more than 40% I've stopped. Also, I'm fed up with the poorly organised service which means that even at quiet times you can end up waiting ages to be served or to receive your drinks. At busy times forget it.

Lovely place to stop off for a coffee and even to do some work on your own. Staff are lovely and it's a great place to hang out. They have jugs of tap water and you never are made to feel like you need to move on - highly recommend

Came in today to grab a quick sandwich for lunch, as I have done many times before. Am suffering from a bit of laryngitis so when I came to pay, I signaled to the chap to show I'd lost my voice, hence why I couldn't speak to him. I bought my food, then he offered to make me a peppermint tea with a spoonful of honey in it, and gave it to me on the house. Very thoughtful and caring, and makes me want to go back every lunch time ! Thoroughly recommend this place.

Really great to find somewhere in the Farringdon area a little different! The salads are lovely and fresh and have way more selection than just garden salads. Coffee is hot and strong and staff are lovely. Great place

The sandwiches are OK, but what made me stop eating there recently - and email them about it - was the fact that two of the servers were regularly wiping their noses with their hands while making sarnies and not washing them.

Loved finding this place for breakfast. Such a refreshing change to find a cool place! Great staff and service. Very friendly. I can vouch for the bacon roll and espresso!

Popped in to St John Street with a friend, first time in a couple of years. It struck me how the vibe has dipped and there was no staff producing fresh cooked dishes. All the sandwich fillings looked like catering food which all said and done, made me think that the business is cost cutting. Even the lovely silver packets for their New Yorkers has gone.

I went to this Benugo three days in a row since it was close to the Zetter House, where I was staying. They had a really nice yogurt / oatmeal / fruit combo and the breakfast sandwiches were good. The coffee was nice (tried the filter coffee as well as mocha). The service was mixed, but mostly good.

Food very good. Pork belly with apple chutney delicious. Service less good. Admittedly a very busy lunchtime but rather chaotic service.

..with the exception of the lovely man who makes sausage and bacon rolls in the morning! Food is on the better side of average but with 'Clerkenwell' inflated prices, however it's the huffing, mumbling and eye-rolling of staff, coupled with the manner in which they thrust your food/receipt/change back to you like you've ruined their day, that's really put me off Benugo. In fact I don't think I've ever been somewhere that made their customers feel like such an inconvenience. I've persevered as it's so close to work, but after being laughed at when I asked a grumbling member of staff to repeat what he'd said to me (he didn't..!), I won't be going back..

Have to review again because every time I go, which is fairly often, it just seems to get worse. New manager tries hard but some staff and service generally really poor. Food average at best. Hot food rarely actually hot. Coffee ranges from average to undrinkable. And please - change the music. You can almost set your watch by some of the songs on the same old loop. They seem to get away with it somehow but really need to watch out - some decent competition now established locally eg the far superior Workshop.

It is a nice place to stop for tea and snack in the a surprisingly quiet setting just off of the main road... It's why I keep going back!

I work next to Benugo and I felt the need to write about their constantly rocketing prices for really average coffee/food on the small side (the portions). The coffee is certainly not amazing, yet they price it way above its means, plus often you have to wait rather a long time, specially if you like something like decaf or soya.Salads and sandwhiches are on the expensive side and again average in quality. It's a convenient place and the staff are mostly nice (mostly....) but it just doesn't dazzle....

freshly made food to order, and nice surroundings. however the staff are hit and miss, and all to ooften they have run out of soup at 1.10pm!!!! crazy. expensive, but expected for Clerkenwell. generally could just do better and service needs some serious improvement!

Good Bakewell tart baked each mornig it said. The staff seem bored and disinterested but I could not fault the superb coffee. It is hard to find real and well made espresso coffee but this place does it very well. The cake was great. Ten staff milling around but only two customers - odd.

Really rude staff, food not even that great. Visited to get breakfast having never been before went to order a muffin, receipt to take to till was slammed down on counter by rude member of staff, being short I did not see this and left it there, said member of staff never said a word to me or pointed out that I would need it to pay, luckily my boyfriend noticed it when he went to order his muffin. Then girl on the till obviously couldnt hear me when I said we would like to eat in but was not polite and shouted at me 'eating in' like a statement and a question rather than, 'are you eating in?'. Paid £11 for 2 small bottles of smoothie and 2 muffins. Totally overpriced.

Benugo has some great food but not enough choice and it is overpriced. It's a real shame as Clerkenwell/Farringdon is spoilt for choice when it comes to restaurants with St. Johns, Hix, Redhook, Bistro Bruno Loubet, Modern Pantry etc etc but no great cafe/deli - for cafes I would rate St. Ali's much higher than Benugo

I really want to like Benugo but... Despite the trendy and pleasant surroundings and the decent enough food, the quality of staff and hence service and the prices consistently put me off. I can't remember an occasion when my order didn't need repeating or was delivered correctly. The staff are well meaning and friendly enough but just not very good, generally. and it is SO expensive for what's on offer - food isn't that great. Seems to have gone backward since the refurb.

Proper pub with decent prices. The breakfasts are tasty and the pints good. On a weekend there is no food service, which is a bit disappointing, but the atmosphere is good and the staff welcoming. Near to Kings Cross too so great for a quick breakfast and a cheeky pint before a journey.

We were turned down from entering the pub as we had a new born baby, stating the ban on the under 21 rule. Pregnancy and maternity leave are protected characteristics, the Bank of Friendship violated our rights and the Equality Act 2010. When questioned on this “rule” we were informed the owner doesn’t like dogs or children. We had a three week old baby. It was discriminatory to turn us away based upon this.

I’ve never been to a Pret with such disorganised and slow service. The staff just had no idea what was going on and struggled to get anything done even though there were 6 of them behind the counter.

Another dirty branch of Nero. I get free drinks here (Vitality), and I still don't like it. I wish they would clear away the rubbish and dirty cups.
