Drinks served in a hot glass without any ice available, no fruit served with the gins. Rather disappointing experience without any reasoning from staff as to the lack of these additions to our drinks.

Recomendado.

I turned up at this venue after a booking down the road ( Nags Head- avoid!) went wrong. A young guy ( Jason I think?) welcomed our group and made us feel welcome. He showed us the food menu and the different drinks available. His friendly banter and quick service put us at ease quickly and we thoroughly enjoyed out night. We will defo return.

We booked a table for 8 o'clock and was told on the phone we could only get one in the downstairs area as the upstairs one was booked for a private party, which was fine with us. We decided to start with a few sharers while waiting for some more friends to join, and were ready to order our mains at 9pm, a good hour before kitchen closing time. But without ANY kind of prior written or verbal notice, the kitchen closed to the public as they were serving the private party upstairs and we could not have dinner, not even if we waited! This is absolutely unacceptable, they had several chances to let us know about this, firstly on the phone while booking (when I specified we wanted to eat), and then during the many times we went to the bar to order drinks and sharers (which was at least 3 times)! The manager was "sorry" about the inconvenience and absolutely uninterested in the awful service his pub was offering. After complaining for a bit we got offered a round of free drinks, which we couldn't accept as we had to rush to find another place for dinner before all kitchens closed. Unbelievable and unacceptable!

Went with a group of friends on Saturday. We had prebooked a table and were seated upstairs which was fine as we wanted to talk rather than stand around shouting at each other. The 2 for 1 cocktails went down a storm and were very good value. My favourites were the pornstar martini and the sea breeze.

I tend to pop in here whenever I am in the Angel/Islington part of town for a night out. The drink prices are reasonable for an upmarket type of bar, and the food is also quite decent. Moreover, the clientele and staff are always a good laugh with shots and plenty of banter. There's also a smoking area with seats outside next to the green, but it can be awkward due to being on a relatively steep slope! Overall I recommend the Slug and Lettuce as a great place to grab a pint or some shots after a long day of work.

We arrived to the slug and lettuce excited for the 50% off food. But it all quickly went down hill, firstly I went to the bar only to be told that I couldn't even order my food until everyone at my table had showed their IDs. The bar tender was more than rude. I came back up to order my food and ask for a drink only to be told they didn't have the mint to make it, I then said I'd look through the book again. When I asked for an elderflower fizz with mint in it he angrily said 'I TOLD you we have no mint! And I'm not changing any drink!'. We returned to the table and I finally received my steak, after watching my plate sit in the cold for ten minutes. I had ordered peppercorn sauce but that did not arrive, I asked for it once and then once again after another five minutes only to be grunted at and rudely told ' yeah they're making it!'My onion rings were also cold. Not happy, this place had a lot or potential but its staff let it down.

We visited on a Monday, which was 50% off food night. This was the only reason I didn't send my food back and go elsewhere. The visit started well with the three men behind the bar being very helpful and guiding me through the menu. The first problem was when a less than enthusiastic waitress brought our starters up. 'Garlic bread' she said. Neither of us had ordered garlic bread so we indeed looked puzzled. 'Garlic bread' she insisted again, this time with more urgency. 'Oh no sorry we ordered bread strips and olives' we said as we proceeded to look through the menu to show her what we were expecting. 'Garlic bread' she insisted, before placing the plate down anyway and walking away. We then realised the item she had insisted was garlic bread was indeed the bread strips. The conclusion of this point is firstly, get it right love, and secondly, don't be so rude, especially when YOU'RE wrong! Amongst all the confusion, we didn't even notice that my starter was completely wrong! There are two similar options on the menu. The bread and olives, and the bread and beetroot humus. Both come with a bowl of bread, a dish of olive oil and vinegar and then EITHER a dish of olives or a dish of humus. Having ordered the olives, I was given the humus. (This is the second time this has happened here...in two visits!). Nevertheless, our 'less-than-enthusiastic' waitress was long gone by now. I decided to wait a couple of minutes as we seemed to think she had said 'I'll be back'. After about 2 minutes I decided to head down to the bar to swap my humus for olives, and who would I meet on the way; our joyous waitress again; this time with the gentleman that served me, heading up the stairs with our main courses. Now the fact that our main courses were now on the way and I still hasn't received my starter is an entirely different matter, but firstly I wanted to address the 'gossip' I overheard. They didn't see me as I was at the top of a spiral staircase, they were at the bottom, but I overheard the waitress saying to the man; 'I was just standing there, my hand shaking with the plates', presumably referring to the event a couple of minutes ago where YOU told us the wrong information, which caused our confusion. I this time asked the man to sort out my humus/olive issue which he did with no issues. Eventually, we were left with the correct food, albeit AT THE SAME TIME. Come on! I know it's a pub but they know the difference between a starter and a main course in weatherspoons! Not only does one course go cold whilst you eat the other, but I personally enjoy time Inbetween to digest one before the next; regardless of whether I'm dining at the savoy, macdonalds or in this case slug and lettuce. My main complaint is with our waitress. Quite frankly awful service! I personally feel so strongly about rude customer service which is what prompted me to write this. Fair enough if you don't enjoy your job and just do it for the money, but don't be rude to me!

Me and my Fiancé went to this pub for an aperitif today before lunch. We asked for Campari but they didn’t have any, but then we spotted the Aperol and we went for it. The enthusiastic waitress (not) asked if we wanted a single or double shot luckily for us I optesd for the single one plus t wo little squirt of draught lemonade which later turned out to be sparkling water (maybe the lemonade run out) at only £ 10.40 for both drinks. if mathematics is not an opinion a double shot would have cost £ 20.80!!! Last month I bought a whole bottle from Waitrose (not Asda) for £ 10. We didn’t even get a slice of orange which is the correct Italian way of serving it. Probably you might have guessed that I will be not in a hurry to go back

Three of us chose to eat here early on a Monday evening before the theatre. The bar man had problems accessing the till which should have been a warning but drinks arrived quickly and we waited for our food. After ten minutes we were told that one of the times was off so we chose a replacement. Fifteen minutes later we learned that another item was off but decided to do without it for the sake of speed. Ten minutes after that we were still waiting and had stopped talking to each other in favour of staring hungrily at people who were already eating. The two dishes, when they arrived, were not worth waiting for. The sharing plate was barely enough for one. We had to eat fast at that stage but luckily the one task they managed on time was handing over the refund for the missing dish.

We are not big fans of "pub" food, generally labeling it as greasy and boring. However on coming across the chain, The Slug & Lettuce, and hearing some quite positive reviews, we were inclined to visit in hope that our stereotypes would be short lived. The classy interior was far above our expectations; it has an airy and modern feel to it, but not drifting far away from the pub feel, featuring wooden floors and leather sofas.Based on the interior, we had high hopes for the food, however there was a slight hint of doubt, since the menu was broad, not just with your typical dishes such as burgers and fish, it covered different cuisines from Indian to Italian classics. It has been a sign before where there is too much variety that the quality of the food suffers, by not having a clear focus. We hoped that this would not be the case and when our burger arrived on a wooden palette, we was very excited to see whether the taste could match up to the presentation. On closer inspection, it was evident that the burger pate was frozen; it had a dull colour and the texture was very flat with some light grill marks. On biting into it, we was expecting the strong flavours of the ementale cheese and bacon to rush through, however all that you could taste was the grease. It literally was dripping from the burger when you held or cut into it. The grease made the burger heavy and the mushy chips on the side did nothing but add to this. The frozen pate made the non existent flavour even weaker. Our other main, was a grilled chicken, bacon and avocado salad; we hoped that a light salad would balance the heavy grease intake. Even this was disappointing, the chicken was tough and the bacon stringy. The dry salad unevenly out proportioned the amount of filling. The salad did not look or taste fresh, and the avocado showed this, being mushy and flat. The cookie crumble dessert was mediocre at best. The cookie base was soft and chewy; it had different ingredients, such as chocolate covered honey comb, marshmallows and brownies just thrown on top of a cookie. There was no imagination with what was being used, and the result was a clear mess, something that a child would put together if left alone with these ingredients in front of them. Even the accompanying scoop of vanilla ice cream was bland and did nothing but add moisture to the dry and over sweet mound. Its lack of texture especially from the cookie base left the dessert unbalanced and boring. The waiter was welcoming and warm making the poor experience of the food easier to take in. The food did come out relatively fast.We was very disappointed with the poor quality food, and it felt as though the food is only fit for people who are already drunk in the pub, even than we would prefer some other alternatives. The chain does have some great offers, such as 50% off food on Mondays and 2 for 1 cocktails on a Thursday. It is a pub that we would happily have a drink in since it is an attractive place with a range of drinks and cocktails on the menu, but in terms of food, it is one to avoid. The dining experience left us feeling sluggish and unsatisfied.

It does get very busy at the weekends, been trouble a few times but thats simply due to some of the idiots that go there, the bouncers are really nice (but again we're biast as we're there all the time) really great place, I highly reccomend you give it a go.

We were turned down from entering the pub as we had a new born baby, stating the ban on the under 21 rule. Pregnancy and maternity leave are protected characteristics, the Bank of Friendship violated our rights and the Equality Act 2010. When questioned on this “rule” we were informed the owner doesn’t like dogs or children. We had a three week old baby. It was discriminatory to turn us away based upon this.
