The food was made very quickly and was of fantastic quality. Would definitely order from them again

I come here frequently after our show performance at the Gilded Balloon. Such good food! I love their teriyaki chicken bowl! Sushi look amazing too! Quick and very efficient service.

We liked this place so much we went twice. We had the Salmon Teriyaki Bowl, Veg Tofu Teriyaki Bowl, Veg Poke Bowl and Salmon sushi. The Veg Poke Bowl wasn't bad, but the rest was delicious. And very healthy with lots of veggies. The quantity was great — two bento bowls were adequate for the three of us. Tip: Ask for extra soya sauce and ginger packets for the Teriyaki. It tastes even better. The restaurant is also well situated and clean. Worth visiting several times.

Fresh and delicious sushi. Very kind staff and super attentive to allergies. Allergens are clearly indicated on the products, ideal for those intolerant to gluten and lactose.

Great sushi, different selections and bento of different types. The boxes the food is packed in, are really cute. Forgot to take a picture.

We had the hot salmon teriyaki poke bowl with carrots and peas and sticky rice. It was a disappointed. Bland, no flavour in the veggies whatsoever, it was edible only because of the teriyaki salmon. We tried the miso and it was so diluted with water that it felt like salt water. I am really disappointed.

I had issues with the portion sizes on their offer on uber eats. It is completely false advertising. However i must say that they have delicious other options. Their customer service is not the best but not something that cannot be improved. Have a great day. God bless! After many orders of my safe food.It was changed and they got cheap with their serving sizes. As an autistic person this has made me very sad and no longer trust this place.the first picture is the before sizes and second is the new serving size. Its a dishonest business. The sandwiches are the same just different fillings. They claim I have made different accounts to rate but i have not. Theyre out of touch with reality claiming they havent changed portion sizes since 2018. Incredibly unprofessional and full of excuses. They cannot take a criticism at all. They also claim that a lot of a low reviews are fake it makes you think how many of the high reviews are biased and fake truly the most dishonest business ive come across in Edinburgh.

I love their food. I tried several of their options and they always taste lovely. The staff are friendly as well. Highly recommend and will be coming back whenever I am in the area.

Tasty, convenient and aesthetic!

I had the pleasure of tasting a Poke ball, salmon makis and an exotic fruit bubble tea. The food was delicious and the service was impeccable. The warm welcome from the staff made our experience even more pleasant. We were able to enjoy our meals in the beautiful Princess Street Garden. I highly recommend.

Literally the same tasteless frozen veggie mix you find in the supermarket, and frozen tofu too. Not worth the £8.50 vegan teriaky bowl. The music is also horrendous and very loud, and they only have cow's milk for bubble tea.

Avoid this place. I’ve took the sushi for a takeout in this location and two sets out 4 were spoiled. I previously had sushi from Bento in other location and didn’t experience any issues so I’ve decided to take the sushi from them again on the next day. When I got home noticed that they leaked through the paper bag and my carrier bag smelled of fish. When I’ve opened them two sets seemed fine but two had an awful smell and were not edible. The next day I’ve got a food poisoning and contacted the customer service on which they replied to me that if I wanted to get refund I’ve supposed to bring those sushi to the store. This is completely ridiculous that to get a refund I have to take sushi that I’ve binned and go to the store when I’m feeling sick. Don’t make my mistake, avoid this location or check sushi in the store. Because they were definitely spoiled

Nice take-away bistro where we had a great meal (sashimi, dim sum,seaweed salad and bento). You get freshly handmade food at a good price in this clean and sensitively color-coordinated bistro with friendly service. Recommended.

Absolutely stunning food. I have just had chicken teriyaki with rice and veg (take out). As this was the first time of trying, I di not know what to expect, but I can honestly say I have enjoyed every mouthful. So tasty and full of flavour. My compliments to the chef and to the great staff who work there

Amazing good and friendly staff

After many takeaways from Bento , very sad to receive a rainbow Pokè bowl with brown and green , funky-smelling tuna. Please check the quality of the raw fish before sending it to people

Superb Asian food outlet. Delicious, fresh, and well priced with lots of options. Limited indoor seating, but mainly take away, on the go food.

We took away, I thought they did the sushi burritos, maybe they did them in the past. I did get a sushi sandwich which I thought was really tasty, and some Bao buns! The Bao buns I wasn’t to excited about but loved the sushi! Need to go back and try more things on the menu.

What a lovely jewel. The food is beautiful and tasty, a very nice variety and the staff is kind. You have some tables to sit inside or you can takeaway.

Food cheap rubbish. Cheap vegetable, hardly any teriyaki stuff on it. Chicken pieces still got the disgusting skin. Awful expensive £9.50 Overall 1 star

Poke bowl에 바닥에 깔린 밥이 너무 진득거려서 식감이 매우 안좋음 일본마끼나 롤, 스시를 만들때는 밥을 어느정도 고슬거리게 해서 잘 뭉쳐서 맛있게 해야되는데 정도를 넘어서 너무 밥을 질게했다 만들기 쉬우라고 그랬겠지만,, 음식을 팔려면 어느 정도 수준은 되어야지 모양만 롤이면 롤인것이냐!?

Ein süßer kleiner Laden, der sich perfekt für einen Zwischenstopp eignet. Gerade wenn man nicht viel Hunger hat, aber trotzdem eine Kleinigkeit essen möchte. Wir sind kurz vor Feierabend reingegangen und die Regale waren deswegen auch dementsprechend leer - das hat aber gar nichts ausgemacht, denn wir durften uns aussuchen, was wir wollten und sie haben es frisch für uns zubereitet. Ich hatte die 𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐜𝐤𝐞𝐧 𝐂𝐫𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐡 𝐑𝐨𝐥𝐥 und das war wirklich eine der besten Crunchy Rolls überhaupt - wenn nicht sogar die beste. Ein toller und sehr freundlicher Service! Zudem auch noch super hundefreundlich, also hat es wirklich an nichts gefehlt - und das zu dieser Uhrzeit. ♥️

Hello I was TODAY again in BENTO for my lunch. My choice for today was chicken teriyaki. The food was fresh, hot - fantastic. I will definitely come back here again. Highly recommend!!! Ivetta

The food arrived with the bags stapled closed and the receipt on the front. The receipt was correct. When we opened the bags, one of the courses was missing. We immediately contacted the driver and he issued a refund. Why would we want a refund when we had four people waiting for meals? They made absolutely no offer or effort to bring the missing course. That’s horrible, horrible customer service. Additionally the food was cold, the teriyaki sauce was overly sweet and thick like paste. The evening was ruined. We will never, ever return. They made no effort at all to make it right. They basically did not care.

Chicken Teriyaki rice bowl was very tasty. Nice rice, skin on chicken, really nice teriyaki sauce. Exactly what I wanted for a quick dinner passing by.

A takeaway store where all the food is premade and one can pluck them off the shelves. It is nice in a pinch and there's a great seating area but the prices are a little high for the amount of food. Right next door one can get a much fuller poke bowl than the one offered here.

It's... fine. The poke bowls are mediocre, the place is crowded, the food is all prepackaged and kept in fridges for you to grab yourself and pay for at the counter, but the fridges are right next to the line so it's difficult to tell where the line starts. Service was efficient at least.

The perfect quick bite between Fringe shows. And free Wi-Fi. Could do with a better sauce to accompany the gyoza dumplings.

Nice Milk Tea with Pearls, the staffs are firendly. The foods are tasty, not too much spice, nice. Located in the city centre, across the Old College and Chamber St.

Really rude staff. Three members of the team serving decided to mock and make fun of the way I had greeted them. Which was a friendly hello. They proceeded to mimic my hello and all laugh at me as a team. It was also a day I felt extremely tired and so really upset me. Would not go back at all because if that.

Food was excellent. And good prices. Booming music. So loud it ruined the meal. Massive noise from refrigeration units also. It was like eating in a factory in full swing with booming music in top! Most unpleasant. Won’t be back

This place is a nice find for vegetarians. Walking distance from Golden Mile, Bento is not a strictly vegetarian place (they also sell chicken and fish), Bento serves ready-made food - quite a fair bit of them are vegetarian and some are vegetarian without onions and garlic. Their tofu bento (€8.50) offers great value (at least for Edinburgh old town) and is allium free (no onions, no garlic).Their miso soup is heavenly on cold days but slightly too salty for my taste & I find their bubble tea also too sweet (I usually drink my bubble tea with 0% sugar). That said would recommend this place for friendly, fast (grab and go), value Japanese/Asian vegetarian meal in Edinburgh.

Decent food but really expensive for what it is

I don’t know about the Sushi but we got two chicken teriyaki bentos and a mushroom bao and they weren’t worth the price. The vegetables seem to be from a can or bag of frozen veg and the chicken was quite dry and tough. Disappointed because I think you could make this box for less than 2 pounds each and they are advertising fresh premium ingredients and selling them at nearly 10 pounds each.

Salmon poke bowl was beautifully presented and included lovely touches such as sliced radish, seaweed salad, pickled radish, edamame beans and sticky rice at the bottom. Staff were attentive and friendly. Great place to go for lunch.

Horrible. We had food delivered. The gyoza, dumplings and chicken karaage were in cardboard boxes with a plastic window, full of condensation, and a soggy mess. The chicken was at least half fat.

Not overly impressed but I have heard good things about the sushi. I got the chicken curry, plenty of nice sticky rice, plenty of sauce, plenty of potatoes in the curry, not that much chicken at all! For that reason I have marked down. It also seemed a bit chaotic but the food came quickly. Will need to grab some sushi next time.

Popped in before a book launch opposite at Blackwells. The first pau were a bit old and sticky so the staff replaced them with a smile. Gt service.

Sushi is very bland, rice does not have classic rice vinegar flavour. The miso soup is laced with E additives including MSG! Wasabi and ginger are packaged not fresh and laced with E additives. No separate recycling bins. Will not be returning.

Ordered beef curry rice and salmon bao at this branch. Delicious both. And love the milk teas from every Bento Asian Food bars. For the price it’s decent enough.

Nice fast food sushi style. Price was appropriate, choice decent and tasty. Not much space inside and getting full very quickly. Would definitely recommend as take away sushi or quick bite if you can sit.

Sushi war so schlecht, dass ich es wegschmeissen musste. Schade um das geld. Der lachs roch sehr stark nach fisch. Der lachs wurde auch überhaupt nicht schön geschnitten und dazu war er schleimig. Ekelhaft. Werde dort nie wieder sushi holen!

I've had takeaway from here a few times this year. The gyoza and sushi are always top tier. The bubble tea is alright but you're better off going to Fun Tea right down the road. The hot bento is consistently disgusting. Great place to go for small bites but avoid the larger bowls, as they're bland, the chicken may contain bones, and there's a 50% chance the frozen vegetable mix they use isn't thawed or cooked.

Teriyaki chicken bowl - very bland. Hardly any sauce on chicken, and fatty skin left on (I guess that's down to individual taste). If you remove the skin, there is no sauce on the chicken itself (i.e. it doesn't seem like it was cooked in the sauce, it was just poured on top), and the chicken piece you are left with is bland. Rice is tasteless. Side vegetables looked like frozen pea-carrot-green bean mix you get from any supermarket, also not seasoned at all. It was a good amount, although most of it is just plain white rice. For £9.50 (take-away) you expect something nicer / tastier / better value. Sorry!

I really like your food, never been disappointed with quality of it, but customer service today was a big let down. I bought sushi set, rice parcels and two teas, never been asked if I need a bag, napkins or chopsticks even that i mentioned it's to take away. I asked for above items and later on a train I have realised that I was never given any straws for my tea, it's not the end of the world, but it's not your usual standard, so I was a little disappointed today 😐

I was in the restaurant at lunch time today, and I bought veggie gyoza, as they looked delicious. I ate one and realised it tasted odd. I then looked inside the second and third to find there was chicken inside!! I am a vegetarian so this was horrifying. I went back and was offered a refund. However, I will not be back again, who knows whatelse they mislabel !!!!!

Bento is the BEST!! We had a delicious meal with our son. He is vegan and had so many choices. It was so fresh and yummy! We are traveling from the USA and accidentally left my purse with passports when we left Bento… they contacted us and kept it safe until we could pick it up the next day!!! Delicious sushi and wonderful people. ❤️

Wide variety of food but unfortunately the quality of the sushi rice seems to be very different in terms of the stickiness (although it is fully cooked). It is most likely that the ratio of rice vinegar and the pearl rice used might be used incorrectly which can really affect the taste of sushi. Can’t fault on the sashimi and everything was fresh prepared which is great! Good ambience.

Abre durante todo el día y hasta tarde y en esta ciudad es de valorar. Variedad suficiente para encontrar lo que te apetece y bastante fresco, eso si, una pizca caro para mi gusto teniendo en cuenta que no es un restaurante que te lo hacen al momento.

Really amazing spot. The food is amazing, not too expensive and easy to grab. An Asian style Pret a Manger. A really special spot for a quick, delicious bite to eat. I'm gonna stop here every time I'm in Edinburgh from now on.

Amazing place! The spicy fish sandwich is unreal and the strawberry cheesecake mochi are incredible! I get take out from here every time I’m in Edinburgh. Couldn’t recommend highly enough!

Got food from here a while back (was one of the chicken options) and got food poisoning. Had previously got veggie options which are great but i wont be coming back because of the chicken

The teriyaki tofu rice bowl I got was horrible, the rice was overcooked, soggy and not seasoned. It was more a honey soy sauce which was too sweet, and the tofu was the spongy fried tofu which was not a great choice. The veg was just frozen mixed veg, the cucumber and avo sushi was also terrible, the rice was over cooked and not seasoned. It was waay to expensive for the terrible quality of food, rice is such an important part of Asian food and to have it so badly cooked is inexcusable.

We ordered food from them tonight and it was cold and tasting very bad. We ended up only having a bite or 2 of our meals before we couldn't continue due to taste being that bad. We ordered sichuan style chicken and pork, spring rolls, dumplings and chicken udon and neither one was good. Also, the prices are high and I would not recommend it to anyone.

Amazing food that is ready to take away. Get there a bit early, as some things might be sold out. But still very much worth it!!

First thing is to try Wasabi here . And then everything after. Excellent place to try the East Asian food. I tried the Sushi and teriyaki chicken and smoked salmon. Absolutely wonderful taste. There is nothing junk here and you can also choose some bubble drinks along. They have hot as well as cold food options. I would highly recommend to try the Wasabi here. Such a current in your head and it will open up every nerve for you. Lol. Be careful.

Simple and fresh food. We had wakame salad, gyoza, sushi rolls and bao buns and it was around £16 which we didn’t think was expensive for two of us for a light lunch.

Tasty, good quality food! The sushi tastes great and you can tell the quality is quite good. It is a little on the expensive side. If you decide to eat the food in the store you will be charged an extra fee. Very convenient take-away shop.

Just not a nice place at all. I asked the rude and unfriendly lady standing. by the till whether an item was, on the bone. Her response: "On the bone what this mean?". I subsequently went outside to check the menu as they don't have one on the counter and the lass didn't. appear to speak basic English. Which is surprising, all things considered. When I came back in, to place an order, the server had taken her mask off and was biting her fingers, while casually chatting on the the phone and it was then that I also ascertained that the chef was not wearing a face covering either. A uninviting and unkempt ethos seems to be the main stay, of this business. I walked out because I won't support business's that undermine our health service. Just to make Johnny-Jane foreigner a few quid, selling sub standard fare. When it's at the expense of others. Whom are far more valuable to our society. In response to the reply I can state that they must have got me mixed up with someone else as the depiction they described did not happen. However think it's more telling that they did no respond to the issues raised about their poor covid safety standards.
