My favourite restaurant... well worth 5 star... but the BIG negative, hence the four stars, is the "optional 10% service charge", really annoys me, this is my choice, not yours! I always ask for it to be removed, then I decide if the service has been good!

Second visit this year, excellent service & food looking forward to our next visit.

Already reviewed hotel but thought the restaurant deserved a special mention. Firstly decor classy and simple, spacious with a mixture of seating. It was so refreshing to read a menu where I didn’t have to google something I’d never heard of or was restricted to one choice as I can’t eat spicy food. That’s not to say it’s a simple or boring menu it’s in a class of its own. They also have a comprehensive Vegan menu for those requiring such. The menu I believe would appeal to everyone, spoilt for choice really, I was stunned to see steak pudding which had been a childhood favourite. Well I was transported it was the most fabulous tasting meal, no condiments required it was perfect just as served. Tonight was Duck Breast heaven on a plate. I would tell you about the outstanding dessert menu but it would only make your mouth water. Open to the public to book meals not just hotel guests you really need to give it a try. Oh the staff are warm, welcoming and friendly providing excellent service.

Visited the restaurant for a snack during the afternoon, prior to ab evening event, we had beef and horseradish sauce sandwiches, tea and wine. Tasty and good value.

Sorry to say this will be the last time we set foot in here. Gut instinct said walk away as soon as we got there but £25 in a Taxi each way we thought let's ride it through. So we walked in to not be greeted and asked what's your name, but to a gaggle of noise and limited seating. My wife and I found a seat and perched on the End. Then I took on the roll as waiter as I had to go to the bar and get a drinks menu. We ordered 2 gins one Rhubarb one seville Orange when they arrived the glasses where identical, not Dressed no lemon lime orange not even any ice...... I asked how can you tell them apart oh she says I put a straw in the rhubarb one. Genius I thought. I suppose a drop of ice would of complicated matters I thought. I then returned to the bar to fetch my own menu as this was not offered and was bluntly told that it wasnt my menu. I was then thrusted 2 other menus and i went to sit down feeling scolded. So into restaurant and our starters arrived fresh and tasty as too our mains. Then the fun started with desserts. And although my one was nice my wives was something that beggered belief. The bloody spoon got stuck in it . So we ordered coffee and went to the comfy seats to chat and there's a bloke sat in the middle of the room in gym shorts a sweaty top and watching the the Rugby. We asked for the Bill on 3 occasions and it wasn't forthcoming by this time our taxi arrived so we just left. Then today we have duty manager ring me and say that this is no reason to leave a restaurant with out paying, as if this was our intention. I'm not here to rip people off. I do however expect a decent service when I'm paying. Obviously I told you I was going to be writing this and in answer to your question No I won't hold on. I think if your calling yourself a restaurant the sports bar image has to go. Anyway like I said email me the bill and I will check it and pay but I will never set foot in here again . Which is a shame as the last time we came we where made to feel special nothing was too much trouble. Last night however we where made to feel unwelcome and more an inconvenience. Before accusing your customers of walking out on a bill. Get your own house in order.

Amazing hospitality and fabulous food. First time eating at Bennett's Restaurant and it certainly won't be the last. Great dining experience, can't recommend highly enough.

Really nice place that surprised me. I was surprised it wasn't much busier tbh. Food was excellent without being overpriced for a hotel. Service excellent and we had a large party. Would go again.

Menu choice is good. Food standard and presentation is good. Service is good. Sadly atmosphere is not good. Has feeling of impersonal hotel dining room, which although situated in a hotel, as separate restaurant, should have its own identity. White overhead spots spread even light, would benefit from lower lighting in pools. Large tv in bar area and hotel guests in jeans and football t-shirts also didnt help. I want to like this restaurant and the closure of the High Moor gives it a chance to step up and make it something special.

Excellent food, pleasant surroundings, tastefully decorated, we have been a good number of visits and never been disappointed, thanks again chefs and staff we will see you again in the near future

Standard fare, always good quality

My brother Barry called in and reserved a table for this evening the 27th of August for our wedding anniversary, we rang to say we would be 10 minutes late ,they said we had no reservation and couldn't fit us in awful and me and my extensive family won't be back in a hurry very unreliable.

Great food. Excellent staff. Have been there many times. Never disappoints. Highly recommended

Being 3 times now. Menu really good, food fantastic, service 10/10. Lovely atmosphere and plenty of space between tables so you can talk and enjoy time with friends or business partners. Defiantly worth a try !!!

Absolutely loved it couldn't fault the food,all my friends enjoyed their meals as well , the staff where knowledgeable about the food they served

The food and service were as usual first class however the price of drinks has now gone above and beyond!!!I ordered 2 double pink gins each with a small tonic and the cost was £11.50 per drink!! Even on this day and age of gouging this is beyond acceptable and I won’t be going back!!!

Enjoyed a beautiful 3 course evening meal in very relaxed surroundings. Food was delicious and staff were very attentive and hardworking. Would highly recommend. Thank-you for a lovely evening we will return.

Visited here for the first time as we were staying at the hotel on a package. Great choice of food for starters, main and dessert. Kitchen were able to accommodate me adapting my starter and offered me an alternative. Portion sizes were good and the taste even better. The service was second to none. Would definitely visit again.

Staff were absolutely fabulous meeting our groups needs. Food was amazing and all the courses came out at same time for everyone in our group. Highly recommend this place if looking for somewhere to eat.

Reasonable food and drink of the standard expected for a business and events type hotel. Very warm staff. Not luxury. Lovely dessert.

We visited the restaurant whilst staying at the hotel. We traveled a great deal with business prior to 'Lock down' but this was our first stay and restaurant meal in 5 months. The COVID Secure cleanliness was excellent. David the Manager was exceptional, friendly and attentive to an extent we had never experienced previously. He made our visit to the restaurant a fantastic experience. Thank you

We have been to this restaurant several times over the years but not been for a while certainly wasnt disappointed amazing food and service what a great night we really enjoyed it ,we wont leave it as long next time !!

This is a gem for a hotel restaurant , I had 6 evening meals and all were delicious . The lamb rump was exception, the salmon and halibut were perfect . The trio of chocolate sweets was memorable . David the head waiter was super and all the staff were freindly. Service was quick and efficient . Apart from the squid rings which were chewy every dish was gourmet standard .

Hotel restaurants tend to be fairly generic sometimes, I was expecting an average airport hotel type meal. How wrong could I be!!David and Head Chef Russell have this place running like a tight ship. The service and food were faultless and even the layout and atmosphere were spot on.The teriyaki scallops were perfectly cooked and fresh. We both then had the fillet steak medallion and short beef rib. What a meat feast! Honestly the steak was so soft and tender you could’ve used a spoon to cut it. The sauce was rich and decadent and wonderful mash.I finished with a pannacotta. The whole meal with lots of drinks and service was around £80. Worth every penny. Keep up the good work!!

The lunch menu was good and the dishes selected were excellent. The staff were friendly and efficient and the views from this upper floor restaurant were lovely.

Having a table overlooking fields at sunset was a bonus. The restaurant itself if attractive and background music is actually background (bonus 2). Service was very good and attentive to customers requests i.e. lowering the air-con to a reasonable temperature. The food was good but was let down by a couple of small faults. My partner had a starter with a poached egg on top which was stone cold and had to be returned. I had duck breast served with the skin on it which I could not cut through making it difficult to eat even though the cutlery had been changed prior to serving. We would, however, go again as we enjoyed the peaceful ambiance and the overall experience.

A warm welcome on arrival from the Maitre d' and staff. We sat in the lounge area for pre dinner drinks and looked at the menu. Great choice of food and wonderful vegan menu. All staff very attentive, we would like to give a special mention to Fiona, who was very helpful. Food beautifully presented and cooked to perfection. Congratulations to the chefs who don't always get mentioned. We will definately be visiting again.

Having listened to my husbands favourable reviews of Bennett’s (he’d visited twice before with work engagements), I’d been keen to sample the restaurant for some time. Finally made it last night. And what a pleasant night it proved to be. The restaurant was almost full, which surprised me given it was mid-week. Such a lovely atmosphere & buzz to the place. Maitre d’, & serving team were thoroughly welcoming, efficient & knowledgeable. Menu was skilfully compiled. Food was served hot, beautifully cooked & presented. An obviously talented team of chefs. Looking forward to visiting again in the not too distant future.

Had perfectly cooked grilled halibut. The best fish dish since a holiday to Canada two years ago. The dessert was delicious; strawbwerries with Pimm's and lemonade jelly, lemon short bread and pouring cream. The service was attentive without being overbearing. We requested a table by the window if possible, which it was. Altogether a lovely meal in a pleasant location. I can't understand why it is not advertised and promoted more than it is.

I stay in many hotels and order a lot of room service. Usually the meals are pretty standard. If I had eaten the baked stuffed chicken breast in a restaurant I would have been seriously impressed so to get such high quality food served to a hotel room was a dream!

This cosy restaurant at the Wrightington hotel is a great discover for travelers. Starting with the garlic filled mushrooms or the duck rolls who actually have duck meat in them, then as main the halibut in hollandies sauce or the trio of lamb (spefials). The dinner is a treat, service is very good and the price... 30£ for a 2 course dinner. PS: they do have a special Vegan menu if needed.

A lot of options to choose from a vast food menu and the service is super fast!!! I ordered Duck spring roll which was yummy!!!

Lovely food, great service, super decor. What more could one ask for. Admittedly very few people were eating on Bsnk Holiday Monday but we had a really good evening. I don’t get to visit my son and his girlfriend too often so a lovely evening out makes the visit special. Thanks to the team at Bennett’s!

We thoroughtly enjoyed our meal , there is a very good wine list . All the waiting staff work as a very efficient team , serving meals and clearing tables with really appropriate times between courses . Get the impression that the training is of the highest standard. Wonderful menu to suit most tastes , as proven by our family who all really enjoyed all of their meals . Plenty of fresh vegetables eg cauliflower cheese, broccoli , honey roasted carrots. Will definitely be visiting again and have recommended to our friends.

Used to really love this restaurant but now disappointing. The Parmesan chicken breast meal had no flavour in chicken, potatoes or vegetables and the coating on the chicken was soggy in places. Also not happy with the way the menu has been changed. One of the menus is showing meals at a lower price but without the mixed veg selection which used to be included. You now have to order veg as a side order but the side orders are enough for about 3 people and so unless everyone is happy to share not a good idea and also can work out expensive. The restaurant food has never been perfect, for example the pork tenderloin which I ordered previously was quite tough and some of the vegetables were too hard but the Maitre D and ambience of the restaurant made up for it. Certainly won't be going back for a while.

Simply brilliant place. Food and staff brilliant. Maitre D is exceptional. Fillet steak was as good as it gets!

We are regular local customers & not impressed with paying separately for veg even though main meals have been reduced in price, a nice dish of three assorted veg as we usually have would now cost a min of £9.00 each

One of the best understated restaurants around the North West, great food and drink at amazingly cheap prices and a lovely atmosphere and attentive staff.

Food great, staff great, Maitre D exceptional. What more can I say ? We had a great two night stay and would highly recommend.

Came here recently and had a fantastic meal - between us we had bread and oil, black pudding starter, lamb cutlets and pork with bubble and squeak and then a cherry pie and a cheese board. Really enjoyed all the food. This with 2 bottles of wine and coffees was about £130. Lovely bar area too.

Stayed at the hotel for my friend’s 30th birthday and we ate here during our stay. We had our evening meal on her birthday and the chef adapted a meal to suit my needs. The food was absolutely delicious. Both my friend and I couldn’t fault the service nor the food in any way. The atmosphere was lovely and the staff were extremely helpful and friendly. We will most definitely return soon.

We were staying at the hotel and had the 3 course meal at Bennet's. We could not fault them at all. The staff, Jodie and the head waitress, could not do enough for us. The food was delicious and the portions big. Can't recommend the restaurant enough.

Booked this as part of a spa weekend break

We ate here after staying at the hotel as part of an inclusive package. Wow!! We ate from a set menu which had something for everyone. I stated with tomato soup and my partner black pudding. My soup was very good and judging by the appreciative noises from my fiancé his started was equally good. We both had the chicken main course which was exceptional. So full of flavour and the accompanying veg was perfectly cooked. For dessert I had chocolate cheesecake which was very good and fiancé had a cheese board. The cheese board has a good selection of quality cheeses and I was actually quite jealous of his dessert!! The staff were attentive without being intrusive. It was busy but we never felt rushed at any point. Service on the meals was excellent and couldn’t be faulted. Overall it was one of the best meals I’ve eaten in a long time. Would happily recommend the restaurant!!!

We love this restaurant. Very comfortable surroundings. Good service. Excellent food and generous portions. However, if you like your vegetables to be soft you need to mention this.

This is a large comfortable restaurant in the Wrightington Hotel and Country Club. The food abd service was very good and very convenient for those staying in house.

Having stayed at The Wrightington Hotel for most weekdays for the past 20 months I feel I am an authority on the consistency of the food.

First time I had stayed in the hotel so decided to eat in the restaurant, wasn't too disappointed. Excellent service and the food was good especially the scallops. The duck for main was nice, but the bed was very "rare" for my liking! It was busy on a Tuesday night which says it all. Would recommend and return. 10% service charge added to bill, which was fine by me but worth mentioning.

Fabulous modern British Cuisine with fabulous service from a brilliant team.. definitely one of our favourite restaurants. Slow cooked local lamb melts in the mouth... excellent wine list and a delicious non alcoholic cocktail for the designated driver (the thing missing from British restaurants good non alcoholic drinks other countries excel in )

We visited here for our second afternoon tea in 12 months. The cakes and sandwiches were excellent and the staff friendly and attentive. Having got married at Wrightington also, I can confirm the food here is outstanding - my husband and I had a hard time picking our menu and many guests commented on how good the food was too.

Always have a great meal here, a little more upmarket, but the food is excellent and the service is good and friendly.

Just had to write a review about the lovely day we had yesterday (14th Jan 2018) for my Mum's birthday. After an initial mix up with the food order (miscommunication between the two parties), we agreed that all 8 of us, which included two children would have the Afternoon Tea. Just to be more awkward, we asked if we could have more sandwiches and less cake on the stands and if the children could have jam and ham sandwiches. All of this was sorted out for us and we had a really lovely afternoon. The service was outstanding, they really couldn't do enough for us and the food was beautiful. My Mum really enjoyed her birthday afternoon and we all said that we would come back for our own individual birthdays. I would thoroughly recommend this place for a lovely, relaxing Sunday afternoon tea. x

20Nov2017 tried Tuna and Monkfish. Both enough good. Vegetables always too hard for me. Coffe really far from a good expresso. 23Oct2017 Relaxing atmosphere, here you can find whatever you are searching for. Good wines selection and nice dishes. Vegetables sometimes are not well cooked, but this is subjective. To test if you're close to it.

The food was excellent, service was attentive. A few dairy free options on the desert menu would be good!

We recently ate at Bennett's restaurant in Wrightington and had a lovely evening. The setting was really nice, quiet and relaxing and the staff were very friendly. The food was good and well presented, although the steaks were a little tough. We ordered a bottle of the house red wine, which was very nice and much better than most house red's we've had elsewhere. We will definitely be returning.

Delicious meal, very genourous portions , cooked to perfection , it was very enjoyable , nice atmosphere , excellent service from Lesley and team , wouldn't hesitate to recommend it

A group of us ate together, the food was well cooked and tasty, but expensive in my opinion. Staff were all friendly and helpful.

Sticky tables, stale scones and squashed butties.Not good for the price! Didn't know there was a travelzoo offer on and paid full price when not worth it by a long way. We do afternoon tea a lot and this is the worst by far.

A last minute request from work to help out colleagues at a fellow company had me booked into the Wrightson a table was booked for 9pm but was refused entry because I was wearing shorts!I was smartly dressed with tailored shorts the only clothes with me hence the last minute favour. I had no choice but to jump in the car & found a superb tapas restaurant called PESTO.Superb food,service & value for money. Some quality beers on too.

My husband and I only stayed one night, we were visiting a relative at Wrightington hospital. The hotel room we stayed in (room 142) was great with much needed air conditioning and comfortable bed. We had booked an all inclusive offer which was great value for money (dinner, bed and breakfast). As with some of these offers, the restaurant meals are usually very limited and not usually that good, but there was a great selection of starters, mains and desserts. Loved the layout of the restaurant with the different areas and levels, nice bar area for before or after dinner drinks. The staff were very attentive, pleasant and extremely helpful. You could see the chefs in the open kitchen and they really seemed to be enjoying what they were doing. The food was amazing, one of the best meals I have had for ages, (we had saltimbocca which can be dry but was succulent and duck),everything was cooked to perfection, the veg was wonderful, I have never tasted such lovely carrots (I know that sounds a bit mad but they were roasted and so sweet). The prices were excellent value for money. The breakfast was equally tasty in the morning with lots of choice. As I said, we were only here one night due to my father in law having an operation on his knee, I would love to have the excuse to come back here for a meal again and to stay in the not too distant future.....if it means he has to have the other knee done....so be it!!!

Fabulous food. 2 of us are vegetarian and our meals were lovely. Definitely worth a visit here even if you're not a hotel guest .

We went here for a family catch up and felt afternoon tea would be a great idea. What a big mistake and waste of money. I have had afternoon tea in lots of places and this really has to be the worst ever.The scones where rock hard and dry definitely not fresh, the mouse in tiny shot glasses resembles angel delight with extra gelatine it was disgusting and all the other bits and pieces looked stale and tired.A small selection of very uninspiring sandwiches was a token gesture trying to be hidden by a mound of lettuce leaves.The only part that they didn't and couldn't mess up was the glass of bubbly.We actually couldn't eat it and told he waiter who took it away and said I will tell the chef your comments and was not to be seen again! We actually had to go find him as he appeared to be hiding to ask where the toilets where.Advice would be the place is empty for a reason and don't waste your well earned money on total rubbish even the service was poor. I'm not sure if the good comment could be from the same place or hey have got family members to add them but we will never step foot in the place again that's for sure.Not even an apology from the kitchen. Nothing ! Be warned !!

Alyhough only 1 mile from home my wife and I had never been to Bennets despite living here 19 years. Well we didn't know what we had been miising until now. We had the 3 course set menu and the choice of courses was excellent. My wifes starter of smoked haddock omelette stuffed with leaks and covered in a cheese sauce was lovely. I had smoked salmon with a rosti also very good. For mains my wife had chicken with chorizo again good and I had fillet of pork with parma ham which I really enjoyed. Both served with roasted veg. In fact they gave too much veg . Mine also came with a black pudding rosti very nice. Deserts are again generous and my duo of sticky toffee and gingerbead pudding with ice cream hit the spot. My wife had apple and pear crumble and the pastry was very morish.For £27.00 per person you cannot go wrong. The food is excellent, the restaurant is very stylish in relaxing colours, staff on the hole very friendly and a place we will certainly return.
