Had the most awful experience in here. I really hate writing bad reviews but it’s an honest one. If you’re not a local may as well stay away as everyone is so rude and unwelcoming. Me and my partner came to Whitchurch for the day and went into Benjamins for some lunch, biggest mistake as our entire day was ruined. I have a chronic cancer and severe anxiety. I asked what soups were on today and the lady laughed at me and said none, a bit rude but I brushed it off. My partner then asked for our food and we had a conversation infront of the staff about if we wanted to sit inside or outside and if I should grab us a seat whilst he was waiting for the food. We paid and sat outside, there were plenty of seats inside but being so anxious and having everyone stare at us like we had 4 heads was off putting enough. We’ve sat outside now and not even a minute later a very rude lady came out and told us to move as we had paid for takeout. There were plenty of seats and we weren’t offered the option to eat in. She said if we want to pay the extra which was a “big difference” then that’s fine but we need to leave. I could not believe my ears, we would’ve happily paid to “dine in” (whilst sitting outside) as the chemo I’m on makes it hard enough to walk Nevermind walk and eat. Never offered for our food to be warmed up and said the extra charge with my boyfriend’s sandwich would’ve been a “plate with salad” for an extra £3 (he didn’t want salad). From the beginning to the end of our short custom here was it awful and embarrassing.

Yet again we have had a delightful lunch in this fabulous cafe. The choice is vast and the food is beautifully presented and excellent. I had the Greek Salad and the olives and cheese were plentiful and tasted amazing. Staff always very prepared to help and attentive to requests . Just great every time and the little touches like the salad dressings on the table make it a great place to eat.

My partner and I popped in for breakfast, it was a spur of the moment decision so we hadn’t pre-booked (I don’t know if they take bookings?). Nevertheless we were guided to a delightful table in the window, where we could watch the world go by and not actually have to talk to each other. The staff were absolutely wonderful and so attentive. The lovely lady serving us introduced us a DELICIOUS gooseberry jam - OH MY WORD - WOW!! The coffee was delicious, my partner is very selective when it comes to food and drink as it’s his area of expertise but he was happy with the coffee (a huge statement!) and we thoroughly enjoyed our experience. We’ll definitely be returning.

A great little cafe and deli, was able to order one of my all time favourites from the extensive menu (Coronation Chicken Sandwich) my wife had the Shrimp (Prawn), the accompanying salad had real greens of Spinach, Chard, Roquette etc, served with a fab Beetroot balsamic, and a side of chips (Crisps not Fries), a clean and tidy establishment also offering variety Teas and coffees, they have a retail section offering bespoke artisan chutneys, balsamic’s, cakes, candy, and far more than I can mention, and the best bit, they sell hampers, you select a basket from the wide selection available, fill it with your choice of goodies and they then gift wrap it, our lunch was competitively priced and service was excellent, I certainly recommend Benjamins Cafe and Deli.

I am a regular visitor to Benjamin’s, and every time we visit (children in tow) it is like we are the only customers there! Literally can’t do enough to make our trips happy, every member of staff goes above and beyond to make sure we have all we need (including fussy children!). Sandwiches are the best in town as are the deli choices. Wonderful variety of cakes and pastries, plus cheeses not available anywhere else locally. Absolutely fantastic, I really can’t recommend the place enough.

Benjamins is a great addition to Whitchurch and I am a regular visitor there but today when I visited, there were just too many people. Customers queueing up with little regard for social distancing. Complacency will allow covid to rise again as we are already seeing. I really was disappointed.

Visted for lunch last weekend - found that efforts had been made to comply with covid 19 guidelines which is reassuring, Staff were attentive and friendly. Good snacks menu and they serve gluten free bread. I asked for my gf bread to be placed on a kitchen roll and put in the microwave for 20 seconds to refresh it which they did very obligingly, My sandwich came with crisps and a side salad and the filling was really tasty. My only slight issue for constructive feedback purposes is that the sandwich needs to be 3 x rounds of gluten free bread to match the content of a normal sandwich like my wife enjoyed. GF bread slices ARE much smaller.

Called for lunch when travelling back from Wales to Yorkshire, having researched places to eat before setting off. Benjamin's not only lived up to the many glowing reviews, it positively excelled in every way. The food was simply superb. It was beautifully presented, very tasty, and the flexibility to order just what you wanted meant for us, two very clean plates. The staff were brilliant too - nothing was too much trouble, and despite all the necessary masks and visors, smiles were evident from all of them.

Vegan choice! We are both vegan, the staff were super helpful and pointed out the vegan deli options including the vegan roll, which we went with. They also did jacket potatoes with a vegan option. We went in and were lucky enough to get a table for two , we were welcomed by a very pleasant waitress . My husband and I, along with our daughter visited Whitchurch today and decided to stay for a coffee and some lunch. Preferring to eat in independent cafes we went into Benjamin’s, ideally situated on the corner of the high street. There were only a few tables for 3 people and none available so we sat on a table for 2 whilst we waited for a free table and perused the menu. There were a variety of sandwiches, toasties and jacket potato toppings available to order. Our daughter has a penchant for toast, which clearly stated that it was only available before 11.30. Now, I’m fully aware that rules are rules and perhaps we should have asked for a toastie with nothing in it, but we foolishly asked if we could order a portion of toast, alongside our orders of toasted sandwiches!!! The chap ( I believe the owner) was curt with his reply saying that”rules are rules, if I do it for you I’d have to do it for others” . We agreed but reiterated our daughter’s preference. His dismissive response was “there’s plenty of choice on the menu”. It goes without saying that we left. It was clear, that customer satisfaction was not of any importance to him, or the business. In essence he missed out on at least £25 which we happily spent on a delightful cafe further up the road which I will review next!

Popped in for a cup of tea. Quite small inside but very nice. Great deli counter and a lovely selection of jams etc to buy. Seemed to have regular trade with people popping in for a pie or a sandwich to take away. We ordered scones and tea. Initially a bit disappointed with size of scone as it looked like an ordinary supermarket one and I do prefer a large home made looking scone. However it was lovely and fresh and served with lots of cream and very tasty jam. Would definitely revisit next time I walk from the canal side and into Whitchurch and this time try one of their good looking toasted sandwiches or cake.

We stopped to rest in this cafe and deli after walking around the marketsIt was a Saturday and was fairly busy but we managed to get a seatThe staff were lovely and were more than happy to take our order We only wanted drinks but they had no lemon and ginger tea teapigs which they also sold in the shopThe food looked very nice but we had had lunch earlierWould definitely recommend this place and would visit again

Whilst visiting this lovely village we walked past Benjamins and called in for lunch. Didnt't read any reviews before hand just took a gamble. It certainly worked out well. The staff were welcoming, attentive and informative and we were served promptly with a Ploughmans Lunch and a Greek salad with Feta cheese and olives. The meals were excellent and well presented, the produce was a very high quality and the portions were superb value for money. Great pork pie, loads of cheese to choose from and the olives were beautiful. Would definitely go back as the choice of sandwiches and sausage rolls looked excellent too.

The food this establishment served was lovely but unfortunately this was ruined by the poor atmosphere. One member of staff needs to work on her costumer service skills as she comes across as fake and rude. This lady spoke down to other members of staff in front of customers which made the atmosphere tense and uncomfortable, I was only in here for a takeout sandwich so I did not witness the whole conversation. I would recommend going for the food and would like to clarify that the other members of staff are extremely amiable and polite.

We've just returned from an over night stay. This is a lovely place to stay. Friendly. We paid for breakfast and it was very nice. Well presented. Only down side was we stayed in the Westgate room and it smelt of smoke. Someone had obviously been smoking out of the window. Definetly will return just in better weather. We stayed Sat 7th Dec with all those gales. Not a long walk into Town. But it was on that night due to the weather.
