Service was excellent made you feel extremely comfortable. Food was excellent and cooked according to my requirements.

Easily the best Indian meal I’ve ever had! Staff were amazing, food was out of this world, very clean and comfortable dining area. Will be thinking about this meal for a while hope to return soon.

I used to live in London and enjoyed this place many years ago, but because I now live in Cambridgeshire, I hadn't been for years. After a long walk from Finchley via Hampstead Heath, we were feeling hungry, so my partner suggested we go there. Having been greeted at the door by an immaculately dressed and friendly mâitre d', I knew immediately we were going to be in for a delightful evening, and so it proved. The food was impeccable and the service certainly the best I've experienced, in any restaurant, for quite some time (and we dine frequently at some well-known places in central London). Tandoori chicken, sizzling vegetables, Saag aloo, and perfect Naan were all supremely delicious. I wasn't in the mood for alcohol, so the salt Lassi was a super and refreshing alternative. My partner ate a delightful looking Subjee Begun pie as her main course, and we shared the vegetables. Great food and lovely restaurant all round. I cannot wait to come back.

Ordered a takeaway for our new years family dinner went to collect it brought it home there was no rice I ordered 3 there was also a korma missing my husband had to go back up there to be told it’s New Year’s Eve nothing they can do they will cook rice so all the family are currently sitting at home waiting for all the rice happy new year they was rude offered nothing to compemsate absolute joke

The last time (and I do mean VERY LAST TIME) I dined here was for lunch with colleagues. Tiny portions of so-so food but one of my side dishes was CLEARLY the dregs/leftovers + ADDED hot water to make it go further 😲🤢🤮 I never returned...

The staff at the Bengal Lancer were amazing. We were a big group of 14 people, and they looked after us extremely well. The food was great, and the wine very decent and reasonably priced. I would highly recommend the food, the service, the wine - it's not easy taking care of so many at once, but they were very attentive and welcoming.

I have wanted to visit here for a few years as it always turns up in one of my favourite authors books (Tom Thorne novels). It lives up to its reputation, superb service, excellent food. The staff are lovely. Thank you guys and thank you Mr Billingham (the author).

I’ve lived in Kentish Town for 5 years and now moving on. I’m genuinely going to miss having this little treasure on my door step.

The newly refurbished Bengal Lancer in Kentish Town is so welcoming and the food is - and always has been - truly fantastic. Lovely staff and family run. I’ve been coming here for 30-odd years and think it’s the best around. Try to come each week when I can. Do visit as you won’t be disappointed I’m sure……..

The Bengal Lancer was a lifesaver during covid and the Monday night takeaway has morphed into a sit in curry club. The food is honest and home cooked, well priced and my friend and I missed it in September/ October when it was spruced up in a refurb. The staff there are friendly and the service is always excellent. They’re very open to feedback and tweaking their dishes to taste also. Get along and support your local curry house!

The Bengal Lancer has just had some renovation works. The restaurant has had some needed upgrades. The service and food is the same high standard it always had been. The Chana Dal was delicious.

A regular local visitor. Thought I’d try a different dish to my usual and ordered the prawn mooli for £19. It was just sauce and four king prawns: no other vegetables or anything else. Absolutely outrageous for the price. I’d assumed it would be accompanied with other vegetables. Really surprised and disappointed by a local curry house taking the piss.

Bengal Lancer in Kentish Town is AMAZING. Staff are amazing and friendly. And the food was amazing. We were also offered a complimentary drink. Go there it’s great. The decor is lovely it’s brighter and there is background music which is so relaxing.

The Bengal Lancer has delicious traditional and signature options! We loved our dinner. The spicy dishes were ripping.

Had a delicious meal, lamb several ways, samosas , all good but outstanding poppadoms with a tray of chutneys and Peshawri nan the best ever. Very reasonable and the restaurant is freshly decorated, staff very attentive and wanted to make sure we had a pleasant evening. We did and will go back.

Newly decorated in a beautiful 18th century colour makes this an elegant and comfortable restaurant. The portions are generous and both my son and I enjoyed our food. Our host was very polite without being over attentive, which left us to chat and enjoy our evening. Recommended.

We always enjoy going to the Bengal Lancer (usually early Saturday evening) where the staff welcome us and show us to our favourite table. With Bangla music playing in the background and excellent food we invariably have a nice couple of hours. The new decor has been very thoroughly thought out and adds a luxurious feel.

Very nice atmosphere, really nice classic Indian restaurant, interior with white table cloths and starched napkins. Very tasty dishes expertly cooked and lots of attentive staff. All in all a very enjoyable experience.

Quite simply and in all respects a very good restaurant. A real pleasure when there is nothing one can criticise. The food was excellent, apparently completely "home made", very tasty and never too hot to appreciate all the subtleties.

Lived in Kentish Town for 5 years and assumed this was a hidden gem I'd never been to. Finally got a takeaway the other day and I was BANG ON. Delicious, spicy, good value and quick, lovely service. Excellent stuff. Discount for collection too, what's the point of cooking for yourself?

Delicious, authentic, addictive. We've been hooked to this place for a good couple of years now. Best chili paneer, tiger wings, pani puri and lamb chops ever.

Mi hija y yo entramos tarde para cenar, sobre las 22h, pero nos dijeron que podían servirnos. El camarero parecía enfadado por la hora. Pedimos, nos sirvieron y cuando todavía estábamos cenando, nos trajo la cuenta. Todo esto sin dirigirnos la palabra y con muy mala cara. Ni la comida, ni la atención merecían el precio que pagamos. Lo peor, el servicio.

Food was OK but service lazy and unfriendly. I certainly won't be inconveniencing the staff by troubling them to have to serve me again...

Very bad food , I ordered chicken tikka masala no taste no spices , like tomato's sauce .

At approximately 18:20 on a Sunday evening I tried to have dinner at this restaurant. I was told that it is takeaway only... I asked why it says on the door that they are open from midday to midnight on Sundays but they answered that it does but they are cleaning the kitchen now... It didn't make sense but it was unwelcoming and unprofessional. Thankfully, there are a number of other restaurants on Kentish Town Road that served food at that time.

Finest Asian food in Camden Town.

We have kept returning to the Bengal Lancer over many years as the food never disappoints. As well as Indian restaurant standards, they serve a lot of dishes you don't find elsewhere which are delicious. If you like chicken liver, try the Liver Hazri starter. I also always order the Sizzling Mixed Vegetables. Staff are friendly, the atmosphere is pleasant and it is very good value

Found it to be quite a shame I used to come here all the time and come back tonight and left disappointed and confused to be honest. I’m not certain but sure this has changed owners or management, didn’t feel warm or welcomed I used to love the atmosphere in this here. Food wasn’t great, a real shame to say I won’t be coming back.!

When a restaurant has been around for a long time there’s usually a good reason that this is the case. The Bengal Lancer may not have the hip storefront of many of its newer competitors on this high street, but its longevity is a testament to the quality of the food and the owner’s dedication to customer satisfaction. Try it - you will not be disappointed.
