10/10 perfect pub for a perfect time! I enjoyed all service, food and drinks. This pub has waiters, who are all lovely, particularly George, they make you feel very welcome and happy no matter what mood you came in or where you came from. The food is delicious no matter what time of year, and great live music. The portions are perfect sizes always leaving you full. Once you tried the food, you’ll want to come back for more! The drinks are always great, with too all the drinks a kid would love. It always has a nice vibe, and you never feel alone. The location is perfect, with many shops in Altrincham and a great atmosphere. We’ve been coming for 7 years and it’s always been our favourite place, for kids and adults. And the beer is delicious, great quality overall. Brilliant! Worth a visit.

We popped in for a quick drink and a cheeky cone of chips for the kids while waiting to meet up with friends. We were greeted with a very warm welcome to match the lovely roaring fire. The service was beyond brilliant and there was a great selection of beers on offer. We had plans to eat elsewhere with a larger group but we all came back for more drinks afterwards and will definitely return to sample the roast diner that looked and smelled amazing! The Belgian bar is lovely little gem and dog friendly too.

Absolutely love this place do not pass it by - have eaten here twice now and the Asian steak is absolutely stunning as is all of the tapas, we will definitely be back for the roast too. Good selection of imported Beligum beers, including a good range of non alcoholic beers, too. The food was unfussy but very tasty. For the price I was very satisfied. Good table service was provided all evening. The servers were both polite and friendly. The bar has a quirky and authentic feel to it. Definitely worth a visit.

We love it here. Consistently good food, we have tried most stuff from small dishes to Sunday lunch and they never fail to produce great meals. There was live music today which was fun. It is very reasonably priced. Highly recommend 👌 thanks Barry and the team 👍🏼

Nipped in for a bite to eat and we were definitely not disappointed - lovely helpful staff and fantastic food really reasonably priced. Ordered a selection of tapas which was all lovely, and the Asian steak was ordered as a last minute decision and we were so glad we did as it was absolutely excellent. We had heard good things about the Belgian Bar from a friend so we’re glad we paid a visit and will definitely be back again! Excellent venue and people.

I actually loved this place. The food was the food, it was tasty and did the job, but the entire night was sooooo good. Great playlist and service and my gosh, that White Belgium Beer - what was it it!!!!! Best beer I’ve ever drank, even the mrs was stealing it! ❤️

In principle, this is a really nice bar. But I've had quite odd experiences recently. Last time I went in, they started pouring the beer before realising the barrel was at the end and going to change it. That took 15 minutes. At which point they started pouring the new barrel into the stale beer that had been sitting on the counter for 15 minutes. Really not great. They did change it when asked, but still...

Our trip to this was totally ruined by the woman who was serving, she was extremely rude, arrogant and went as far as telling us”if you are not happy go some where else” when asking her where was our drinks, after waiting for 45 mins for the drink we had ordered. I could not believe my ears. Have never seen such audacity and awful customer service. This is seriously out of order. Will never set foot in that place.our Sunday was totally ruined.

One of the most bizarre experiences that I ever had! I would not recommend wasting your time there! One of the staff who claimed that be a owner after waiting half an hour on a pint (which I never received) when I asked her if she remembers my order in a polite manner, but she brutally and in a very rude/savage manner, front of all other customers shout loudly and said: if you don’t like it go somewhere else! I could see they serving other customers but only delayed my drink! I was so embarrassed front of my family and friends, when I confront her in private and asked her the reason, instead of being civilised and explain, she decided to ignore and turn her back on me! She repeatedly said to me GO SOMEWHERE ELSE! It was one of the bizarre moments of my life. Never experienced such an attitude in a bar/restaurant! Never been rude to her and tried to talk her calmly but she was a racist Karen!

We waited for a drink for more than 45 mints and the worse thing was the lady's attitude -never seen any staff thar rude

Great little bar with a cosy and relaxed feel. Table service which is a nice touch, friendly staff. On the extensive drinks menu there is a whole gluten free selection of beers (such as Greens, and a Dubbel & Tripel) , interesting ones too! underheard of and very welcome. My new favourite place!

I can't rate the food enough. I had the tapas, while my family had the kebab and hot dog. The food was excellent, that nice we shared everything together. From the beer to the soft drinks, we're excellent as well. The service was great, a young lady and the owner were very friendly. I will be back and definitely recommend. thank you

Draught Krombacher and bottles of Jever made for a great drinking session with Oxbow Red on the open roaring fire keeping us both toastie... A sound and thoughtful owner. A place to seek out with some easy eats to top things off. A place to seek out and spend a good couple of hours.

Wow excellent food on a saturday afternoon - highly recommend the halloumi gryo (flat bread wrap). Hot dog was good too. Lovely atmosphere with the roaring fire. Staff were excellent - hope to be back soon.

Not changed much in years this place, and is fairly close in atmosphere to some of the bars I've been to in Belgium. Table service, as you'd expect, and a not bad range of Belgian beers, although IMO it's a touch safe and could do with some newer microbrewers on there. Still, I enjoyed my St Bernardus....

Amazing choice of products. Great server. Surprised by the quality and portion size of the food. Liked the choice of music... intelligent 70s 80s at a sensible volume. I'm a definate return customer. The sheep's name is Sam (the Suffolk) BTW.

An amazing gem of a bar on Greenwood Street in Altrincham. Cozy in the evenings with open fire. A great range of bottled and draught beers served to your table by attentive, friendly staff. Did I mention the food? A gteat menu of small plates and some amazing kebabs. Give this place a visit if you're in the area, it never disappoints

I know the owner of this bar, a very affable South African who certainly knows his European products (he runs a Tapas stall at Stockport's Foodie Friday once per month). Great selection of continental beers, even if they're not the cheapest (import fees etc.)

We usually really like Belgian Bar, it’s got a nice atmosphere and the food is nice. We decided to take my parents who were up visiting for dinner and booked a table for 8PM. When making the reservation we specifically asked if they were serving food on Saturday evening which they confirmed they were until 10pm. We arrived for our booking, ordered drinks and were presented with a food menu. Nobody came to take our food order so after around 30 mins I asked if we could place an order, the waitress had to go and check with the chef. After checking and a discussion at the bar with another waitress she informed us we could not place an order for another 30 minutes. When asked why, I was abruptly and rudely told that they were ‘busy and there is only 1 chef’. No one else in the bar was eating so not entirely sure what they were doing, also, if you can’t accommodate 4 people for food on a Saturday evening then don’t take a booking; especially when we specifically stated we wanted to eat. We decided to cut our losses and ate elsewhere. It’s a shame as we have previously eaten here and really enjoyed it, it was also a bit embarrassing as we had raved about the food. You really shouldn’t take a table booking if you can’t provide the requested service. Also there is a way of speaking to people in a polite manner. There are plenty of other places to go in Altrincham.

There was a very rude & unhelpful member of staff( apparently she was a senior / manager) the other 2 female staff was very helpful and nothing was too much trouble .

We stumbled across this by chance and couldn't resist popping in for a few drinks. A good selection of Belgian beers and a nice warm fire provided a welcome break. Very welcoming and chatty owner who was able to recommend a few other places to check out. Table service for drinks. They also serve food.

Brilliant service, great beer, and the best chips I've had in ages

My partner and I decided to walk around and find somewhere to eat for valentines rather than book and both fancied some nibbles or tapas. Thankfully the local tapas restaurants were full as we wouldn’t have ended up here! The service from all the staff was 10/10. There’s a lovely fireplace and great atmosphere/ambiance to this hidden bar! We had a selection of tapas and it was all amazing. We were not left disappointed with any part of our visit and we have decided to make this place a regular to eat at it was so good! I can’t believe it wasn’t full on valentines as it honestly was just perfect! Thanks so much guys, keep doing what you’re doing as we loved it! We will see you soon!

Hubbie has visited here for drinks and highly recommend thus place, the minute I walked in I felt relaxed and welcomed . The open fire was definitely the reason I decided to stay and eat here along with the customer service from Naiomi ...ordered the tapas and it was amazing .... if your looking for a cosy date night with fab food and lovely staff definitely give this place ago.... we will be back 🥰

We are seasonal regulars in the Belgian Bar and often walk the 5 miles or so from where we live to sample the beer they have on offer. The Krombacher is exceptional and we quote often end up enjoying a little too much ....... hic !! On Sunday we tried their Sunday roast which I have to say , was excellent. Large portions and definately all home made. Highly Recommend.

The Belgian Bar is one of those bars you accidentally come across on your travels like the quiant quirky little bar when you are in Europe. It has all the hallmarks of a bijou bar down a side street in Venice or Paris or Barcelona or even Belgium. Its small but has a gorgeous ambience and is the sort of place that you can spend all evening there. They have all manner exotic beers there and some really eclectic spirits too. Lets not forget some delicious cocktails too 😋. All in all a really lovely little place that delivers and delights every time. Our friends appeared to have liked it too. Bravo once again the Belgian Bar..

05/08/22: I've been coming to the Belgian Bar, formerly La Trappiste on Greenwood Street, since I moved to Altrincham in 1995. It closed as La Trappiste on 29th October 2011 and rebranded with a facelift as The Belgian Bar. It's still the same quirky curio of a place as it always was, with it's wood interior, traditional Belgian decor and little nooks & crannys on the upper floor. An extensive Belgian Beer menu, something for everyone. Over 10 taps to choose from and a stock of over 300 bottles from Belgium, Europe, UK & Europe. Dog friendly. Welcoming and accommodating staff. Plenty of room outside to sit and relax, plus the warmth of a real fire on Winter days. A nice selection of sandwiches, hot dogs, steak frites, meze and tapas.

This place is amazing! Great Customer service and advice on which beers to try, gave us samples which was very kind, extensive knowledge which is always what you want when you want to try something new. Gutted it was so quiet when we went because it was amazing!

5 plus!!! La variedad de cervezas es excelente, (Alemanas y Belgas) y precios muy razonables. El chico que hace las recomendaciones es muy amable y tiene mucho conocimiento sobre cervezas. Perfecto lugar para tomar algo en la terraza o adentro junto a la chimenea. Habia pasado muchas veces por este lugar pero decidimos entrar por un trago hace 4 semanas. Hemos regresado 2 veces!!

Great bar, I love Belgian beers. Bartenders are great, and the owner is an awesome guy. I came in while travelling abroad for work. The owner sat down with me and we talked for at least a couple hours about our travels. Highly recommend this place, I know I'll be coming back when I visit Altrincham again.

I asked the gentleman why I was charged and he says it’s a service charge as it’s table service only but if I went to the bar myself I wouldn’t of got charged. Yes I was given a refund of my beers which I didn’t want as I was trying to say it’s the principle of you not telling us and not just secretly adding it on without us knowning. If you are going to do this please note this on your menu or tell your staff to inform everyone.

Love the Belgian Bar as every time we visit it is always exceptionally good and a delight to visit. Especially on this occasion when we visited to finish off our night in Altrincham. It was made even more special by our host/barman who we didn't catch the name of but did ascertain that he was from Croatia. He was a very attentive guy with a lovely disposition and a friendly manner. 😊. Whenever we go to Altrincham we always drop into the Belgian Bar as its always convivial and welcoming. Fabulous place with a gorgeous ambience. Wonderful!!

Possibly my favourite bar in Altrincham, but I think the automatically added 10% service charge is a bit steep to say the least.

Popped in for lunch today, food was absolutely excellent as was our custom Hungarian lemonade! Highly recommended and look forward to returning. All staff very welcoming and log fire really helped warm us up! 5*
