Beijing Cooking Pot in Bristol, City of

My partner and I tried two kinds of cooking pots and they tasted good. We had no idea if they were Beijing style food, but we would like to go there again.

The food here is delicious, just like grandma used to make. I really like the Beijing zha jiang noodles it is my favourite, you can try too. Generally Sichuan dishes are spicy, but don't worry they can make different spicy levels like nandos to cater for everyone's tastes. Sometimes they have the blinds drawn, it looks like it is closed, but actually it is not so make sure you check properly, or just order delivery :)

I visited because I wanted to eat Chinese food! I ordered Chinese Jajangmyeon, Spicy Beef Noodles, and Spicy Fish Noodles! It tasted a little unfamiliar at first, but it was really, really delicious as I ate it 😋 If you can't eat cilantro, you can ask for it to be omitted when ordering and they will leave it out!! If you are coming expecting a spicy soup, I think it would be a good idea to order the spiciness level one level higher rather than medium! And above all, the staff were friendly so I had a pleasant meal 😊🩷 Thank you! I will visit again next time I am in Bristol :)🫡🩷

Amazing! Spicy fish cooking pot was deep, rich and spicy! Lovely flat noodles, cool Chinese soft drinks. Will definitely be back. Update: We came back! Delighted to return, tofu and enoki mushroom pot with noodles was so flavourful and warming. We were passing through Bristol on our way home from Glastonbury Town, and just had to make a special detour for lunch!

This was the first cooking pot I've ever had, it was fantastic! The amount of seafood and the quality for the price is excellent. Very big portions so come hungry!

This is my favourite hot pot place in Bristol! I usually have the seafood + enoki spicy pot and it's delicious. The portions are huge so I just take away my leftovers. The staff is always really lovely too!

Best noodles in Bristol, I can eat here a few times a week and look forward to it every time. The teriyaki chicken is incredible, and the spicy fish hot pot is excellent too. Likewise the staff are a delight.

I was tempted here by the strength of quite a few five star reviews. The tables are sticky, the tables are laminated, the door doesn't close properly. All the hallmarks of a low quality restaurant. But sometimes, a surprise hit with the best food ever. Sadly not the case in this instance. The food is fine, it's not gross or horrible, it's just mediocre. The Szechuan pot certainly has an authentic taste of szechuan pepper, but it lacks all the other delicious notes that make szechuan cuisine one of the best in the world. If it was cheap, fine, but it ended up being close to £15 each and while the price of everything has risen, you can't get away with making something bland for that price.

I haven’t been home for several months. The taste is very good in the UK. I am very satisfied with Chinese food. The service is quite good. Thank you!

Definitely come and try the food here if you’re looking for a more authentic Chinese. The staff were extremely welcoming and made you feel at home. The food was amazing, a lot of great vegetables, deliciously crispy chicken and just the right amount of spice! Don’t miss it if you pass by :)

Beijing hotpot is so delicious! There are a lot of ingredients, and the taste of the soup is very well-balanced. This is my first meal after coming to this city (^o^) I'm glad it's delicious♪ It's a vegan dish! It was simple and delicious ✨

My partner and I visited Beijing Hot Pot last night for a delicious Szechuan chicken dinner. Beijing Hot Pot is known for having the best hot pot in Bristol, which is what drew us in initially. We arrived around 6pm and were enjoying our starters when suddenly a booming noise erupted from next door. It sounded like a rave was happening right beside us! My partner went to investigate and discovered the source was actually a concert going on at the neighboring Indian restaurant, Haveli. An odd mix of violin and Spanish music was blaring, which made for an unpleasant dining background. The noise didn't ruin our meal entirely, but it certainly wasn't ideal ambiance for hot pot. The food was as amazing as always though. We made sure to leave a generous £20 tip for the staff who had to work through that audio disruption. Overall it was a tasty dining experience, despite the musical mayhem next door!

Just what I needed on a cloudy, wet, post- bank holiday Tuesday after a wonderful two-hour city walking tour. The beef hot pot was delicious and the service uncomplicated, efficient and friendly. Highly recommend.

The beef in sour soup was average. Boiling water is okay But the air circulation inside the store is very poor, it feels like eating in a sauna 😅 Friends who want to get sweaty can come here

Don’t go here when the temperature is above 25 degree. Otherwise you would have spicy food at a sauna… quite bad experience. To me, I expect to much when I saw the mark here. Disappointed meal… sorry

Delicious delicious. This was our first visit. The meal was so fresh and the portions very generous. The pork dumpling appetiser and the spicy fish noodles were the showstoppers. The cooking pot dishes were large so plenty to share. Highly recommend a visit to experience the authentic food.

Obsessed. The cooking pot dishes are made with a lot of love and care and tbh the main dish I always get is the lamb slice soup so that’s the main one I can comment on! The broth is delicious and natural, served with enoki mushrooms, Chinese cabbage/pal choi, noodles and of course the lamb. Really delicious, and generous portions. Staff very friendly and happy to cater to allergies (were very careful with my nut allergy).

It was much busier than we had expected on a mid week lunch time and we were under the impression it was a quick diner. In fact this was a beautifully decorated restaurant with a very slow vibe, which we needed at the time. As I waited to be seated I ordered but sadly there was no mapo tofu on the day, so we’ll be returning for that. When we had both arrived we sat and our spring rolls were brought out. These were delicious and crispy, very good value too for the price as you got quite a few even though they were small. Our bowls were huge when they arrived, we spent our time slowly going through them, replenishing, hydrating. The bustling and busy restaurant allowed you to have a private conversation and allowed you to engage with the good vibes. I learnt my lesson (my girlfriend took the least spicy one citing it being my mistake) upon getting the spiciest Sichuan option but we will certainly come back again.

I had lunch here today and it was delicious. Amazing flavours, clean, fresh, quality, healthy food. The service was perfect despite it being super busy, clearly everyone in there had just arrived at once, along with delivery orders being placed. I was served with a smile and apologised to for the wait, even though 5 minutes wasn’t a wait at all! The food came quickly and was a pleasure to take time to eat it. I shall be returning for sure, excited to try other dishes on the menu. Thanks team for cracking food and service 🙏

We had a decent late lunch for two last weekend. The spicy sliced beef cooking pot was refreshing, we ordered medium level of spicy but probably should try the more spicy option next time since the medium one still tasted too mild. The cooking pot came with rice as side dish, you can add rice for free if a bowl of it was not enough. I recommend the fried squids for appetizer, it had properly seasoned batter and the squids were perfect, not chewy at all.

HOLY SMOKES! I'm still sat in the restaurant leaving this review because I couldn't wait to rave about it! Small, family-run vibes. Cosy, minimal setting. The food was exceptional. Authentic, home-made hotpot style noodle and rice dishes served in GENEROUS portions (we love this) so you won't leave hungry. I had the Hot & Spicy tofu and enoki mushroom soup with noodles and my partner had the spicy fish soup with flat noodles. Everything was bursting with flavour and spice and so much love. We're both absolutely buzzing, it was perfect.

Sitting in the rain eating spicy delicious broth. What could be better. Really good value. You could easily split one between two with an extra order of rice. I was thinking it would be packed with noodles and cabbage because they are cheap but it was packed with seafood, meat, and fish cake!! It is spicy. Service was excellent. Only complaint is squid was a little over cooked.

Really love this place. The teryaki chicken and Mapo tofu were perfect and would definitely recommend it.

Small restaurant and takeaway. Packed out with Chinese students. I would say the food was authentic - but as a westerner I'm not really in a position to tell. What I can say is that it was delicious - complex subtle flavours loads of vegetables and all cooked fresh. Worth getting there early. This is good home cooking. If I lived in Bristol I'd eat my way through the menu.

It is good, but not mind blowing. There is flavour, i guess what you would expect in Beijing, but mainly just hot, nothing refined. Will give it a miss next time.

We always look for something a little different when we are in Bristol - the choices are many. This looked interesting and we were not disappointed. Really friendly with lots of help to decide what to choose. Spiced according to taste. My husband had the Szechuan Hotpot and I went for the Teriyaki Chicken with noodles. We started with some duck spring rolls and deep fried squid. Everything was just lovely. We will return.

Delicious food. So tasty and flavorful. I had the fish noodles with sweet potato noodles. You scan a QR code to order and are able to choose the level of spice you’d like. I’d recommend at least a 2. Cash is preferred here.

Genuine Chinese food! The slow cooked beef was so tender and the broth was very rich. Dumplings are just like the ones my mother makes back in Asia. 很好吃😋

As an Asian, I was really happy to find an authentic Chinese restaurant like this in Bristol city. Food was yummy and stayed true to what proper Chinese food should taste like. Pricing is very reasonable as well given the generous portion and taste. Card is accepted although there is a 5% discount for using cash. Highly recommended, just make sure to get there before peak meal times as restaurant gets packed very quickly due to limited seating.

The food here is really authentic - it’s really fresh and delicious. A really lovely place to try some hearty mainland Chinese food. I had the Mapo tofu and some pork dumplings - both of which were excellent. If you’d like a true experience of Chinese food, I’d recommend giving the Beijing Cooking Pot a go. Some of the most authentic Chinese food I've had in Bristol. Great serving sizes and a good selection. The twice cooked Sichuan pork is amazing and the beansprout salad thing that comes with some of the meals is great.

Authentic Chinese food, extremely delicious and excellent value. The atmosphere is warm, casual and welcoming and the service is excellent. 好吃得不得了！

Great tradition Chinese food. The restaurant only only holds about 18 people. So there may be a wait..my only suggestion is to have more bottled tea options besides the overly sweet black tea with raisins.

Visited on a wet n windy October Monday night, we had tried unsuccessfully to find a Chinese restaurant in the City centre, my wife checked TA and found this place, what a result, I had the Spicy white fish cooking pot And it was packed with fish noodles bean sprouts and chillis, we initially selected hot but were advised to try the medium spice and were grateful for that advice it was super tasty. My wife had the Tofu and enochi mushrooms spicy and this again was plenty spicy enough at medium level spice, also super tasty. If you want to try some authentic north Chinese dishes this place is a must visit, we will definitely return.

This may be our favourite restaurant in Bristol - have ordered takeaway and been there several times and never disappoints. Ingredients are fresh, generous portions and lovely service with an unpretentious and cosy atmosphere. Also BYOB for a small fee so you don’t have to spend restaurant prices on good wine. Cant wait to go back again!

I came from London on holiday and I can say I’ve never tasted such a beautiful authentic Chinese meal to the point of tears, the flavours alone put me to a state of dream, the size of the meal and the extras that come on the sides for the price is just amazing 😭😭❤️

The arrival of Beijing Cooking Pot was a game changer for our family's Chinese eating. The hotpot and twice cooked pork are divine and Deliveroo can get them to us in under 20 minutes! I can't recommend their food enough if you want a proper taste of China and not more sweet and sour pork, but if only a few of you want that experience, there are more Westerner friendly dishes in the menu too. All the food is very fresh and the managers seem to care about the quality, a lot. Inexpensive too.

Authentic Beijing hot, mouth-tingling spiced dishes - the menu is focused and comprises a list of "best of" favourites from China. Not to downplay the rest of the menu, our favourite is the spicy fish rice -- inviting and fragrant, with Beijing's characteristic mouth-numbing chilli (which fortunately, the amount of chillies CAN be adjusted for the less adventurous). All dishes come with chinese sprouts and neutral egg-based soup to counter balance the fiery main dish. Portions are touted as generous, which is accurate; however, I would argue that the dishes are overblown in it's size. Perhaps the proprietors should offer smaller options. Overall, the cuisine is authentic, engaging and intriguing for the palette. Worth at least a visit - chances are that you may be tempted to come back.

Extraordinary - had the pork mince and noodles, with today’s soup, duck rolls, dumplings, and a plum tea. It was easily the best Chinese food I’ve ever had. Everything tasted so fresh, felt like I was walking through a garden. The soup was astonishing; it had a touch of green tea in, which made it so complex and satisfying but still light and refreshing. The dumplings were lovely, but the noodles were just off the hook! Fresh ramen noodles, with beautiful pork mince in sauce, balanced with cucumber and carrot. Man I wish I was still eating it. Also the portion sizes were really generous. The plum tea was lush - really recommend, much nicer than Lipton; less sweet, more flavour.

Really good food at reasonable price. At the moment only takeaway due to Covid but well worthit. Had a Yummy Chicken with rice which was tasty and not hot along with a spicy Beef noodle at medium which many would call hot, but its not too hot. Both had good tast and service was good.

It’s old and fragrant! The taste of hometown, it is not easy to eat Chinese food like this abroad. The shop owner is also very nice and wishes the business a prosperous future.

Ordered some beef thing. The flavour of js it was pretty average, but the lumps of beef were grim, covered in tubes and crunchy bits, really manky. It came with a soup as well which was just this jellyish, slimey seaweed thing. Battered squid was alright tho
