Yes, there was a queue but it moved reasonably quickly. Contrary to other reviews saying that the staff were rude, we didn’t encounter this at all. The guy who served me even picked me a biscoff cannoli which he said looked more packed of biscoff than the original one he picked. I got a standard beigel with smoked salmon and cream cheese (they don’t skimp on fillings),two rainbow beigels and a biscoff cannoli for £7.60 - what a great price! Even went back later the same day to get another filled beigel for my breakfast. Different staff and same service. Good job I don’t live nearby otherwise I’d be trying all of their cakes!

I was staying in Shoreditch area recently where both the famous Bagel Bakeries (White board and this one with yellow board) are at walking distance. So I decided my own battle of Salt Beef bagels. I have visited the neighboring bakery multiple times but this was my first time trying this place. So to remove bias, I tried Salt Beef bagels from both these places twice. My consensus is very clear now. There is reason the other one (White board) has more customer queues. On both attempts, I found Salt Beef bagels at this place quite stale. The beef was very chewy and bread was woody, I had to ask for extra mustard to finish them. Pricing is good but not worth it. My recommendation is; stick to the other one. Staff at both these bakeries aren’t known for their friendliness and can be borderline rude sometimes, but at least you can get good tasting Salt Beef at other one.

Amazing bagels. Went December 6th 8am with my sister before work. Amazing they are open 24 hours, family owned and have been here for 3 decades and still churning out great tasting bagels. Love their salmon cream cheese and the salt beef is better than the famous one a few doors down.

As most will know there are 2 Beigel Shops on Brick Lane next door to each other. It seems the other one is supposedly the 'best' however after several visits to both I would rate this one 4/5 and the other 3/5! Controversial! This one has better service, more friendly staff and it also serves Jam Beigels (whereas the other doesn't), so have to say this is my fav (it’s also slightly closer to my flat!)

Lovely beigals and other delicacies- the cannolis are perfect - we’ve bought some for journey home. Has to compete with neighbouring shop which often has long queues - this one is a close second for beigals ,you won’t be disappointed.

Another great place to get a salt beef beigel . They have a great selection of pastries and cheesecakes as well as great breads .

Lo stile è proprio quello super spartano dei deli newyorkesi del Lower East Side. I bagel non sono altrettanto buoni, ma vale comunque la pena fare un salto, soprattutto perché i prezzi sono davvero davvero bassi per essere a Londra. Da provare il bagel con il manzo (la senape è piccantissima!)

Bought 2 plain bagels - they were still warm! Couldn't resist eating them straight away.. they tasted incredible, the texture was doughy and chewy, definitely the best bagels we've had. We went back and bought a dozen more to take home!

People have raved about this place. All I can say is that aside from being the oldest Beigel Shop, that's. where it ends. I took. my son and we ordered the classics, the cream cheese and salmon and the salted beef with mustard and pickle. The newer shop had women with poor food hygiene, no gloves, one wiped the sweat off her face with a tea towel and then wiped her hands with it and then continued to touch the food. So we went the original shop. After getting over the medieval looking shop, having paid and left to savour the goods. What overpriced tat. The classics were diabolical trash, no taste, hardly generous in the portions either. The beigels would make the Jews lose their beards and women scream oi vey from their roof tops. The hygiene is poor, the food is tasteless trash and yup you guessed it. We puked it up a few hours later. The food hygiene standards need to pay a visit and shut this tourist money grabbing trap down until their up their food hygiene standards overall. Avoid this place and spend you tenner at Selfridges for the authentic salt beef delight. As for the Beigel shop they need to stop trading 24 hours daily and spend the next year cleaning up their act.

Why in gods name are there women working here that are so rude! They don’t even use basic manners they talk to people like the world owes them something, there is another shop next door far more polite to people, I have been coming here for 50 years and lived here all my life, I was ashamed to take friends here last night!

The beagles are cheap, the food is tasty, the service is nice and they open 24 hours. The communist in me is a little worried about the schedules of the workers, but the part of me that loves their bagels and its price wouldn't care even if the bagels were made by tubercolous kids in a coal mine.

Monday 14th February 2022 Trip to Brick Lane. Trained it from Billericay to Liverpool Street then back one stop on London Overground to Bethnal Green. Then walk up to Brick Lane and the old/original Bagel shop. I got 12 x bagels, 2 x Onion Rolls, 3 x Bread pudding, 3 x Pistacio filo cakes and a prepared Hot Salt Beef mustard and Gerkin bagels. All for £18.

Black splinters in the plain beigels. BE CAREFUL. Ended up with a splinter grazing a friends gum whilst eating a beigel. We have been visiting the other beigel shop a few doors along for over 30 years and stppped off to buy beigels there but as the queue was around the shop and down the road we opted to get beigels here instead. The queue was only a few people inside the shop but whilst waiting some staff were dancing and messing around behind the counter whilst customers waited patiently to be served. It was evident that customer service was not their priority with bad language being used by staff in front of customers. One older staff member seemed to be doing the job well whilst younger staff messed around behind the counter. On arriving home we found black splinters embedded in the beigels. Upon trying to phone the shop their phone is not taking any calls. I have emailed them for a response. My first and last time of coming here. In future I shall stick to the other beigel store that I’ve been a customer at for over 30 years without any issues and the beigels are always delicious. The queue is worth it. I would definitely not recommend this place.

Traditional bagels are nice, I'd recommend the cream cheese filling over any other ones. Unfortunate that they only had plain beigels left when we arrived. Shop could be a little cleaner inside.

Very busy, with a queue outside for their food so the food must be good - and it was! But was there a need for staff to be so rude to us? We just asked a few questions and were told if we did not know what we wanted we shouldn't be here. Really put a dampener on something we were looking forward too.

So hubby and I like a lot of people had a Staycation this September. I have a book that shows you secret walks around London. Of which we did a couple of that week. One being a walk around Spitalfields and Whitechapel, which took onto Brick lane. One suggestion was to stop at the the beigel shop and try it out . We both ordered the salt beef and pickle beigel which was very tasty. Freshly prepared in front of you. Hubby particularly liked the bread pudding. Very good value for money. Would definitely go back again....

HOT BEIGEL SHOP really does serve hot beigels. However, other than that I did not find them to be any better than the beigels from BEIGEL BAKE. British beigels are heavy and doughy whilst NYC bagels are lighter and chewier providing a more pleasant bread...

Absolute rubbish, don't waste your time. Cheap as chips but tasteless produce and not a Beigel in sight, they sell soft rolls. The worst Salt Beef Beigel I have ever had in my life. Tea was acceptable, service was brisk. Not recommended.

I’ve been thinking about a salt beef bagel for over a week having watched various cookery programs and so I finished work early today and thought I’m going to take the long walk from my office in regent’s street to brick lane to satisfy this salt beef appétit of mine.There were two bagel shops when I arrived to the location , number 155 with a yellow sign and 159 I think with a white sign, both with similar names, I decided to order from number 155 and went for the bagel , this was bland and with no flavor, bagel should be served hot or toasted of cold, neither was the case, the beef was poor, sinewy, dark in color and far from the standard salt beef I’ve tasted in New York or some other joint here in London. There was too much hot English mustard which added wasn’t pleasant either. I then saw the guy behind the counter bringing out a fresh batch of salt beef and I then rushed to order my second sandwich on rye bread this time thinking this is going to be better but this was exactly the same, the only good thing this time was the two slices of bread.I was charged for pickles but never had any and when I asked the man serving he replied with such an attitude and abrupt manner, I will certainly be not rushing back any time soon.

IMHO, the better bagel shop in Brick Lane! Been to both but this one is much more friendly, have a wider variety of items for sale and despite being slightly more pricey (esp. for sweet bakes), gets my vote every time for beigals. Open 24h (like Beigal Bake) and on London's eclectic Brick Lane, you can pick up a freshly baked beigal with whatever filling you want for less than £2.50, unless you want salt beef (£4+?). Went with crab mayonnaise and it was very tasty indeed, generously filled (cost £2.40) and with lemon juice and pepper. Beigal itself was chewy but not too doughy and the best bit was that it had a slightly crunchy bottom. Rocky road was also a win, £1.20 for a sizeable bar but best of all were the danishes and pastries (croissants etc) that were mostly under £1 and sitting on top of the counter. Didn't buy these but they were VERY tempting!!

Salty, brine-y, juicy, and fatty salted beef on bagel. Love it. Quick service too. Don’t be intimidated by the long queue. Quick/rest stop for brick lane visit.

Chewy fresh bagels just like you want them to be with iconic fillings like salt beef or salmon and cream cheese- yum! You can pick up goodies while you are at it. Fun adventure to take the lube to get here and stand in line as it winds out the street and coils inside the long narrow establishment. I even enjoyed being called endearments.

Ich war während meines London Aufenthalts mehrfach dort und habe Verschiedenes probiert - definitiv zu empfehlen!! Ob es ein plane Bagel, Salt Beef Bagel oder einer mit (echt viel) Bacon ist - aber auch der Doughnut oder das Elefant Ear sind zu empfehlen! Mega lecker, freundlicher Service, ich komme wieder :)

The queue stretched well out into Brick Lane, and doubled on itself inside the shop. The salt beef (corned beef) bagel c/w pickled gherkin slices was chewy - but delicious. Standing outside in Brick Lane you could watch the preparation of the bagels. This was a fascinating exhibition of non-stop motion.

I recently had the smoked salmon and cream cheese bagel and it was so delicious. Unusual to find somewhere in London that packs in the filling for such a decent price. Will definitely be going back when I am next in the area.

Un lugar, que funciona desde temprano en la mañana hasta tarde en la noche. Lugar donde se pueden comprar deliciosos panecillos o panecillos (panecillos con el mismo relleno que los de color beige), un montón de pasteles, panecillos, pasteles. Food is reasonably priced and staff are friendly. The salt beef, picked cucumber and mustard bagels is one of the best foods I’ve ever eaten. Every time I visit London I try and come here because it’s so good. The fact that they are warm makes it delicious, but they do last the day- even after kicking about in the bottom of my rucksack for 9 hours it was still super good. The only issue is that it’s quite hard to get to on the tube as Shoreditch high street is the nearest tube station and it’s a bit of a faff to get to from Waterloo but it’s so worth. I would definitely recommend- my favourite lunch ever

Tried their rainbow bagel with cream cheese and regular with cream cheese and salmon. The regular bagel is better- firm but soft! The rainbow one is more dry and tough but it might be nicer when it’s freshly baked.

Salt beef bagel is what your here for and what it delivers super fresh and fast and reasonable had two in 5 minutes personally a little less mustard. Shop looks a little rough but don’t let it put you off what’s it offers it delivers to perfection

My husband was called a horrendous word by the older lady who was working in the shop when my husband asked do you take “pie and mash” For the record this means do you take cash! Unless you want to be totally insulted I would avoid this place like the plague. Go next door!

Disappointed as some food we purchased was stale. The line at the other beigal shop was much bigger than in this one so we opted to go here, however, perhaps the line was an indication of the quality of food on offer. Service was excellent & some of the cakes we bought were delicious. However, a couple of pastries weren't fresh & I've had better beigals.

Best beigels around, one of two on Brick Lane, the multicultural centre of London. The premises are nice, and there is a small area you can eat at. The salt beef bagels were delicious, we also sampled the crispy bacon, both were well loaded and tasted great. They also sold a number of things on the side, I had a chicken samosa, nicely home-made. Overall, a must if you are in the area.

After a Saturday night out in the Brick Lane area, it was unanimously decided that a beigel is to be the cure for our sore heads! Having tried bagels from both this yellow Beigel shop And the white beigel bake shop 2 doors away, I would rate this one better as the name suggests. Having sampled the salt beef beigels at the yellow Beigel Shop and nearby at the white Beigel Bake, I think the yellow Beigel Shop has my vote. The beef is less salty and beautifullly tender. The pickles are well balanced with sharp and sweet flavours that compliment the beef. The mustard is just the right heat too. Very good.

This is supposedly the first bagel shop in Britain and the oldest one in London. It is reasonably priced, the staff are friendly but I couldn't help noticing that the bagel shop several doors away had people queuing out of the shop.

Hele lieve mensen, die je goed adviseren wat te nemen indien nodig. We namen een bagel salt beef en zalm met kruidenkaas. Ontzettend simpel maar alles was duidelijk vers en met liefde klaar gemaakt. In een woord goddelijk en mocht je geen zin in een bagel hebben: er is genoeg ander lekkers, zoet en hartig! Let wel op: je kunt alleen cash betalen!

My first trip to London and I tried the salted beef beigel with mustard and pickles, it was awesome!

Fui a comprar un par de croissants y un poco de tarta de queso. Me ha servido una joven, probablemente india o algo así, con el pelo rizado y el jersey verde. Cuando llegué a casa me di cuenta de que ella no me había puesto ningún pastel de queso. Ok, podría pasar pero que molesto! Así que volví a la panadería y le expliqué a la misma señora lo que había pasado, mostrando la bolsa con los croissants. Ella se cruzó diciendo "oh, el pastel de queso no se supone que permanezca en la misma bolsa con los croissants". No disculpas en absoluto. Así que respondí diciendo "así somos ellos" y ella simplemente tiró unos pasteles de queso en la bolsa y dijo "no tienes que ser grosero"

This place looks a bit rough around the edges but the salt beef bagel is INCREDIBLE- amazing flavour, value and quality and quantity of filling.

When I read that this was London’s best bagel shop I knew I had to get there. My kids and I made the 40 minute trek from our hotel on a Saturday. I got a bagel and cream cheese with salmon for less than 3 GBP which is the best food deal i could find in London. The place is no frills but they have lots of food cheap. You must make the effort to visit brick lane and while you’re there get a salt beef and pickle bagel. We also had a cream cheese and chives bagel but the salt beef was my favourite. There are two shops pretty well next to each other, we asked a local on the street and he said without a doubt this one. As it’s sign says Britain’s best bagels. You will not be disappointed!

This is an institution in the neighborhood and beyond for good reason, it does what it does very well, indeed. There is plenty of fresh salt beef stacked on this bagel. The pickle is delicious with a bit of snap from the hot mustard. And the bagel is the baked-as-they-ought-to-be variety that too often is not made any longer.
