Its a long while since we ate here but thought we would give it a try for lunch. We were allocated a nice table for 2. There are a few little rooms that you can be allocated which makes it feel really cosy We ordered the semolina gnocchi and a fish & chips. Both were delicious. The fish was huge so make sure you have a hearty appetite. There was a good choice for drinks too. Service was goodand we didnt have to wait long for anything. Definitely worth a visit but you may have to book a table in an evening or sunday

Called in for lunch after a recommendation from my son. Opted for the beef and ale pie and I was not disappointed. The slice was thick and full of steak mushrooms and ale gravy. The pastry was nice and thin and cooked to perfection. Came with either chips or mash and a choice of peas, also an extra jug of gravy. I totally demolished the pie and about half of the chips and peas. My partner ate the lot but was so full he didn't want dessert (not like him). 10 /10 for food, service and atmosphere

You won't complain about the portion sizes here! The steak pies are massive and dense. Unable to face a dessert, we were glad we had a hike planned afterwards to walk the pies off! The menu was rather limited. The pub has a pleasant enough ambience but overall the didn't quite match up to its (Guardian recommended) reputation for me.

Never get tired of frquenting this gem of a pub restaurant. As predictable as the food and drink is; the same cannot be applied to the limit as Shaun, the managers witticism which seems boundless. Good selection of ale, good menu, eating in pub, the shed or outside, in the middle of the countryside. What more can yu want. Oh, and to top it off, he occassionally has an evenings entertainment .

Love the Beehive. Have been visiting this pub off and on for years. We visited yesterday for Easter Sunday lunch. It was ordered from the menu and I ordered roast beef. Was a little disappointed to see there was no lamb on the menu with it being Easter but after I ordered heard another diner ask the waitress for lamb and was told they had lamb but it wasn’t on the menu and seemed to be a secret. Our waitress didn’t tell us so was a bit annoyed about that. However the food was excellent and we thoroughly enjoyed it.

We all had three courses, which were very generous portions. My favourite was the Seabass. I tried the steak my partner had and it was cooked to perfection. My Son loved his Thai beef salad. The drinks were served well and descriptions of the dishes offered when we asked. This restaurant knows how to please, staff were attentive and just brilliant at what they do. I've been to the Beehive on numerous occasions and it's always been one of my local favourites, but whilst the service yesterday was good with an okay food delivery time (we were there for opening time, customers just after us were told to expect a 45m wait) and friendly staff, the nut roast wasn't what it used to be and the Yorkshire Puds were dry and brittle. Add onto that the extortionate price of the soft drinks (£4 for a pint of draught soft drink) and I, sadly, will struggle to go back. I'm sure they're trying to recoup some money after the last year, but by doing it this way, they are risking alienating their valuable customer base.

After lockdown we decided that we would visit independent businesses whenever possible and avoid chains. We booked for 17:00 on Bank Holiday Monday which maybe wasn't the best time as they seemed to be winding up for the day. Our adult mains were the Beehive burger and Haddock and Chips both of which were really nice. Child mains were the burger, macaroni and cheese and chicken nuggets. Everything is clearly home cooked and everyone enjoyed their meals. Surroundings are nice both inside and out. Service was a bit on the slow side, it was 18:50 when we left and didn't really have time for a desert. Kids meals were a bit pricey at £7.95 for a main and £4.95 for a desert which is more than we tend to pay at other decent quality independent pubs and restaurants. We'd definitely try it again.

We got to the pub and we’re pleased to see plenty of tables available outside. While they have social distancing instructions for ordering food, we were surprised that no contact details were taken, no one came to the table to take orders as per the new regulations and no evidence of table being sprayed after diners had left and before new diners sat down. Some staff had visors but not all. We waited nearly 40 mins for our lunch and with a 3 year old this isn’t easy and while it was tasty, one of the meals had a hair in it. We were reimbursed for that meal as didn’t want to wait for a replacement meal. We had higher expectations

I’m not usually fond of pies but this one had been recommended and rightly so. Pastry was light and the filling was substantial with lots of lean beef. Could have done with a slightly more “beery” taste. Vegetables sensibly sized and not overcooked. Portion size very good and as such no room for dessert. Good service and food took just the right amount of time to arrive. Minus point was a pint of Diet Coke at an eye watering £3.50.

We had an impromptu visit to the beehive for a pub lunch after discovering a public footpath leading to it whilst on a family walk through the waggonways. Upon arriving there are two good outdoor garden spaces and we opted for the secret garden. This allows for plenty of space between diners and so perfect for the COVID safe experience. The staff were courteous and helpful, for instance I couldn’t carry all the drinks so they brought them to the table without prompt. We ordered the burger and fries and the hot beef sandwich and chips. Having seen the potions were generous I opted to share the beef sandwich and chips with my eight year old son, though there was a good child’s menu. The food took 40 mins, but staff had advised of this upon arrival and as it was a nice sunny day we were happy to sit in the garden and soak up the rays. The food was absolutely delicious. My eight year old, who’s a fussy eater declared he was definitely coming back, high praise from him. Some people have given comment on its on the more expensive side but trust me, here you get what you pay for. Would definitely recommend.

Myself and my partner booked a table for the evening over the phone. We arrived to be greeted by a member of staff who gave us a run down of the Covid policy they have in place. We were shown to our table and was told it was table service so we wouldn’t need to get up and go to the bar to order. The tables were separated suitably and a one way system was in place. Hand sanitising stations were available at the door, at the bar and near the tables should you wish to use it.We ordered food. I had the locally sourced large fresh crispy battered haddock and my partner had the sweet potato, chick pea, spinach and coconut curry. When the fish and chips arrived I was pleasantly surprised at the sheer size of the Haddock! It was a nice thick fillet which more than justified the price. My partners curry was delicious and flavourful. The vegetables that came with it were fresh and crisp unlike most places we visit. The portion sizes were perfect and the service was faultless. Although it costs more than your average pub, this was by far more than average!! Highly recommended if you want quality service and outstanding food!

Food was great however, slightly overpriced. Very very concerned with the lack of social distancing. We were sat right next to a door therefore people were walking past me less than 1 foot away. I was certainly a lot less than 1 metre away from anyone.. I actually wished we had left at the beginning. No staff wearing masks at all. And all bunched together behind the bar. Also no track and search info taken but we were asked if we were “ok” ... be aware.

We went for an early dinner with young children. The menu was small and not a lot of choice if gluten free, but what we had was very tasty and the children’s portions were generous, my 4 and 2 year old shared one meal. I would return.

Me and my partner visited on 28/2/20 and the food was absolutely delectable! The venue is an amazing country pub and the staff were excellent! Even had the pleasure of being served by a waiter who knew us from when he worked at Mama Rosa's! Would recommend to anyone

Many many times we have driven past this pub wondering what their food is like. This is a serious mistake. The food is AMAZING. I enjoyed the shared platter with a friend . We were not disappointed.

We have been going to Beaches & Cream for years and always love it. Today was really disappointing. We arrived at 2.30, nobody greeted us, we had to ask if we could sit down, there were several tables dirty despite 5 staff and lots of empty tables. When we approached the counter to order, we were told the kitchen was closed. You’d think they’d tell customers this before they sat down. One girl was taking orders and having to prepare the order and take it out, whilst 3 other visible staff were chatting, this caused unnecessary wait times. One waiter was hovering around tables, too close, making conversation uncomfortable. It was a really disappointing experience and not what we have come to expect from past experience, we travel over half an hour to go there and wish we hadn’t made the effort. I’m not sure why the kitchen closed so early, if we had known, we could’ve gone elsewhere, but more importantly, we should’ve been told as soon as we came in.

Friendly staff, cosy atmosphere. I’m gluten free and they have nice gluten free options. I had the shepherds pie; honestly the best shepherds pie I’ve ever had. Definitely recommend 😊

We wanted a cheeky few cocktails before our meal . Opted for the salutation big mistake . My partner went to the bar , pint of cider two pornstar martinis . When he came back from the bar I asked where the Prosecco was . Returned to the bar and the young chap said I couldn’t have any as there wasn’t much and they were keeping it for the bottomless brunch 🤷♀️ When I refused the drinks , my partner returned them back to the bar . Reluctantly they gave him a refund . Whilst at first saying it wasn’t there policy to refund . I know where I’ll avoid in the future.
