We have been going to Beaches & Cream for years and always love it. Today was really disappointing. We arrived at 2.30, nobody greeted us, we had to ask if we could sit down, there were several tables dirty despite 5 staff and lots of empty tables. When we approached the counter to order, we were told the kitchen was closed. You’d think they’d tell customers this before they sat down. One girl was taking orders and having to prepare the order and take it out, whilst 3 other visible staff were chatting, this caused unnecessary wait times. One waiter was hovering around tables, too close, making conversation uncomfortable. It was a really disappointing experience and not what we have come to expect from past experience, we travel over half an hour to go there and wish we hadn’t made the effort. I’m not sure why the kitchen closed so early, if we had known, we could’ve gone elsewhere, but more importantly, we should’ve been told as soon as we came in.

Third time I have tried to eat here. Same issue every time. The service and attitude of staff are appalling. It is as if the whole place operates for the convenience of the staff. Today I was alone and wanted a quick lunch. There were a good number of empty tables inside. A notice inside the door instructed you to wait to be seated by a member of staff. After several minutes and staff just passing me by, I asked if I could sit down and was told in quite a disinterested manner just to find a seat. I did, looked at the menu, madd a quick decision and waited. No one came to take orders. I went to the counter and asked and was told I had to order there. I could see 4 staff behind the counter, none were taking orders. There was another customer in front of me. After a further 5 minutes of us both being ignored, I realised the staff were all dealing with takeaway food orders being sold through a hatch to the outside. The customer in front was eventually served and asked for 2 scones and two teas and was told bluntly 'It'll be a while mind - there's a long wait on orders'. The scones were in front of her and the tea would have taken 1 minute. However, the staff were too busy discussing takeaway orders and customers between them. The customer left the shop and I was left standing. No staff spoke to me. I left. I will never go back. It is my third visit and the same issues have been apparent each time. Customers are not the priority.

Excellent location but that's the only positive! Sat outside. Went inside to order but told we had to order from the outside counter, which was also the ice cream counter. Very busy with people buying several ice creams at a time. One person serving. Three staff inside doing absolutely nothing (I could see straight through to the inside counter).Waited almost twenty minutes to be served and then told our bacon sandwiches would be 25 minutes!.. tea arrived before the sandwiches. Tiny tea pot and cups and lukewarm. Actually only waited 15 minutes for food which was very basic and overpriced. Won't be back and would not recommend. Inside staff abrupt and in my opinion bone idle!

My sister and I were looking to do brunch or lunch somewhere different for a change as we are from the west end of Newcastle where we have access to an array of weird and wonderfully diverse and traditional eateries including in the town centre. I suggested the option to visit the coast as I'm a regular visitor and have been since a child in the 70s when my mum and dad first took us. My sister suggested Beaches and Cream I thing through word of mouth of that I had been there with a friend for lunch a while ago. Anyway, by the time we go there it was lunch time and we were a tad peckish. I ordered the all-day breakfast with an americano and my sister ordered a fish finger stottie with a latte. While I made the order at the counter as you do I requested that they replaced the bacon on my breakfast and extra poached egg with which they agreed at no extra charge. I also specifically requested that the hot drinks were to served with the meals rather than ahead of the meals, a routine and easy request which they agreed to do. While waiting for our food and beverages we asked about internet wifi availability as the signal in the establishment was really poor. They advised they did not have internet. So I proceeded to physically go out the restaurant to get signal as I was communicating to friends regarding meeting us at the restaurant later. On reflection I felt that this was really inconvenient given the roaring business the place did and that it is 2024 where internet should be a given TBH. Moving on the drinks arrived ahead of the food and when I pointed this out the staff member said that she was not made aware of my request! Hmm not a good start. The food then followed and to my astonishment my all-day breakfast had bacon on it rather than the extra poached egg I requested. And what's even more astonishing is that the person who brought the food to the table was the person who took the order in the first instance! See where this is going... To be fair they did replace the bacon with an additional poached egg. So we proceeded to have our food which we couldn't fault to be honest. As it was warm weather outside we noticed that the restaurant got very warm to the point where I asked the staff if they had air con or any source of automated ventilation like a fan to which they relied no. However, they did proceed to open the fire exit door to allow for through air and through vent. Again not ideal given they not short of a few bob to add these adjustments to the facilities! Last but not least I found the menu to be somewhat limited and very bacon top heavy. Even their healthy options like salads included bacon 'not a lot of imagination'. Another, thing which I increasingly noticed is the 'americanisation' of the menu with yet again dishes with bacon and maple syrup, waffles etc. What's happened to our traditional seaside British hardy cafe grub!!! BTW I say that with some element irony. In all wont be recommending it or coming back for a long long time or at least until some of the afore mentioned is improved. Staff/customer service training a must as really noticeably lacking.

My friend and I met here for lunch. The lady behind the counter seemed harassed when I placed my order. The food took awhile to come. My bacon sandwich was awful. The bacon looked like it had been boiled it was pink and floppy, no colour on it at all. The bun was so basic, and small. The whole thing was tasteless. There was nothing with it. My coffee was very watery, and also lacked flavour. There are so many great cafes around, it's a poor show if you can't make a decent bacon sandwich and a cup of coffee.

Great location for coffee and cake. However, have become increasingly disappointed that the coffee always arrives with AN EXTENSIVE AMOUNT OF FROTH. Was half liquid and half froth today. So to be charged over £3 for this, is not acceptable. Prices go up. Quality has gone down. This isn't value for money anymore.

I went in for breakfast this morning with my partner. All I can say is the food was terrible. How every component of a full English can go wrong is beyond me. After I watched the cook finger all my food from one plate to another, because I didn't want tomato or mushrooms and she plated the whole lot up, she picked up the poached egg, sausages and hash brown and the wiggles the bacon across all on a new plate. As if that wasn't bad enough, the bacon was covered in the white fat stuff you get from cooking, the sausage was hard, the hash brown was soggy and the poached egg had a weird taste and was watery. My plate was swimming in water. My partner and myself only tasted one bite of each thing and just left it and walked out. Waste of money and most definitely will not be going back

I went here yesterday with a friend. It's been a while since I have been. The decor is different and there was subdued music in the background, which was nice. I had filter coffee and fruit scone with butter, jam and cream, my friend had filter coffee and raspberry and coconut slice which we both enjoyed. The coffee was in very small mugs but you get a counter for another mug. The girl who served us was a bit miserable she wasn't very happy when my friend asked for the remains of her first cup of coffee to be thrown out and a full cup given as she was only going to top it up. Fortunately I had drank all mine so got a full cup. She wasn't happy we asked for another little jug of milk either. The thing that we thought was strange is that the sign to shut the door is underneath the handle on the inside of the door. We believe that it should be in a prominent place as a lot of people coming in were leaving the door open and there was a huge draft, therefore if I went again I would sit further in the cafe not that we were very close to the door.

As a regular here I was very shocked to be verbally abused by the manageress for returning a jacket potato that had multiple black parts to it. She openly undermined her co worker to me who was actually the one who had the customer focused skill set and had immediately offered a refund or alternative meal and was very nice. I was accused of not returning the meal early enough and for eating some of it, infact i'd had 1 quarter of the potato, she'd thrown the food in the bin before making her accusations while expecting me to pay for an alternative dish. Shocking and reactive behaviour, I was lost for words. As a previous manager with multiple streams of customer focused areas this was clearly an example of how never to behave especially in front of other customers and staff. It left an undercurrent and bad atmosphere. My wife who has experience of retail was disgusted at what she witnessed. This is an establishment we enjoyed frequenting, but unfortunately because of this individuals unprofessional behaviour and actions a return will be unlikely. Not even as much as an apology before we left. Something like sorry I am having a bad day would have done. Nothing but an abrasive attitude

Whilst we have been here on numerous occasions for early morning cuppa & bacon butty, we'd never been in for lunch. So the other day we decided to call here for lunch with our youngest nephew. Whilst the youngest nephew and I opted for panini's the other half had the ham and cheese omelette all dishes are served with a side of salad and coleslaw. Please be aware it does get busy at lunchtime, that's part of the reason we call early morning. At the counter several staff menbers were milling about but no-one said they'd see to us soon. We were totally ignored by a server who was putting boxes away! We left and won't be back. I was at the beach yesterday evening approx 5.30pm with my partner and 4yo daughter. We got a table seat in the sun and waited 10 kins in a queue to get ice cream. When we sat down within moments a male member of staff with a beard was stacking the seating. Looked over and barked that they're now closed and we he needs to clear our table away. So I responded that we've just bought our ice creams from them and should be able to finish it. He was speaking with a short and flustered attitude. Basically wined that they were supposed to close 45 mins ago.... Well then why did they serve us?! I wouldn't have minded if he'd been nice about it but we had had a lovely day and his attitude just ruined the end of it for us. I get it mate you're Woking late but that's not my fault and I deserved at least a "I'm so sorry I know you just bought these but we were supposed to close 45 mins ago and been so busy. Went here in December for lunch for the first time in a couple of years. What a huge disappointment. We ordered the avocado and poached egg on toast. What was delivered to our table was an insult and I am not sure how any business owner can be pleased with what is being served. One small egg and a teaspoon's worth of avocado on one slice of cheap toast (1/4 of an avocado at best), accompanied by two shavings of lettuce. Will not be back to spend our hard earned money here. When you're charging me £20 for 2 people better is expected. What adds insult to injury is you are made to pay on order before the food arrives. The waiters and waitresses are pleasant but the owner or chef needs lessons.

Visited here with my wife and my wife’s sister and husband. The staff are friendly enough and my bacon buttie was decent, overall it’s a little overpriced for what it is. Also we were served dirty cups (which were replaced) and the cutlery standing on the table was also dirty (one of the knives looked like it has been used, licked and replaced, these were also replaced). These are the basics, these need to be got right first time and better attention to cleanliness. Given that we’ve gone through a global pandemic where cleanliness was paramount, you’d expect standards to be maintained. Keeping cutlery on the tables is far from ideal. In addition, the knives are so blunt, my sister in law had issues cutting the food on her plate. One should not have to request a steak knife to cut tomatoes.

Just had a really awful experience at Beaches & Cream I ordered a coffee and bacon sandwich which I asked for the bacon to be well done. When it arrived The bacon inside the microwaved bun to make it hot,was nothing more than a deep pile of under cooked cheap cuts of unequal size thick fat ridden bacon, ( Not back bacon which you usually expect) it was totally inedible and quite frankly cooked in a microwave in my opinion. When i asked for the bacon to be cooked further and when it was returned to the table it was still undercooked. When I asked for a refund the woman serving said she would not give me a refund and she took the sandwich away a second time, returned 5 minutes later threw the £4.75 price of the sandwich on the table and told me never to come back and slammed the front door as I was sitting outside on the terrace.I was totally humiliated in front of all the other customers.I find this attitude so dreadful along with the awful food and a just warm espresso I will never go back. The service is so bad as usual it took 20 minutes just to get a coffee when there are loads of staff in the place doing very little. It seems you get £10 off for every £20 you spend not 50% off the whole bill- I probably would’ve gone elsewhere had it have been quieter as Theres 3 great cafes in the small area but kids were happy to be sat down! I think they need to add the details to their Gov scheme posters so you’re aware to spend £20/£40 not £38! The food came out and one scrambled egg had 2 pieces of toast and the other only 1! So had to chase that up! The cakes were nice and milkshakes tasty but pricey!

Visited 3 times in past 6 weeks and each occasion has been disappointing. I used to like this place and recommended to others but it seems to have gone drastically downhill. Staff seem clueless and are very forgetful and disoriented. Nobody seems to be managing the place. My chicken panini today was filled with huge thick pieces of skin instead of chicken - see photo. Had to pull them out and was left with basically empty bread for nearly £6 and it put me right off my food! Sadly I can see many similar reviews over the past year and they don't appear to have responded or made any attempt to improve things?

Lovely seafront cafe which sells a wide array of tasty treats - both savoury and sweet. Lovely indoor and outdoor area. It can get very crowded so expect to have to wait or queue. Everything is on the level so it’s wheelchair friendly.

We call here regularly and are always welcomed like old friends rather than customers. Over time we have had soup, scones, cakes and light lunch dishes. Today we enjoyed a toasted sandwich with a small salad. Everything was made while we sat comfortably and was so fresh and well presented and best of all very tasty. As if good food wasn't enough the staff make this place really special. We love this cafe.

Been calling for a coffee here at least once a month for over 2 years even have a loyalty card. But no more. Over the last year the service has gone downhill and is very slow with disinterested staff. Yesterday sat inside ordered 2 lattes waited 25 minutes for something so lukewarm drank them in 2 mins. Lady at till taking orders telling customers there was a 10 minute wait needs to wake up take notice of the situation around her. 2 people arrived for takeaway coffee and were served before seated customers. Not very professional. This is January and you can't cope dread to think what the service will be like come summer. There are many more coffee shops in close proximity who will benefit.

Two coffees, one coconut and raspberry cake, one salted caramel cake. Coffee was warm, caramel cake was beautiful, coconut and raspberry was too crumbly and a bit dry. Over £10 was overpriced.

Ate to Much at lunchtime so walked from Tynemouth Village to Whitley Bay and back to burn some calories.Spotted this place on the way out so stopped on the return leg as you can always make room for an Ice Cream! We were not disappointed by the size of the portion or the quality of the product. There is a good range of flavours (between us we tried five) and all really had a taste to match the titled flavour. The service was prompt and friendly but a notice on the tables, especially those outside, telling patrons that they need to order at the servuce counter would save a little confusion.

We were here on holiday for a few days. Walked past here and it was busy so decided to give it a go wish we hadnt bothered. It was lovely and sunny so we decided to sit outside. I ordered a cheese toastie, husband ordered a hot scone with jam, coffee soft drink. Prices are expensive. Lady seemed ok that took the order. So sat outside and waited for about 15 mins mines came but not my husband's. The staff were wandering from table to table people came in after us and my husband still hadn't had his. Went in to complain to see what was taking so long to heat a scone up .about 10 mins later man came out with a cheese scone and says thats what I ordered I said I didn't he argued what happened to the customer is always right then he stuck his hand in it and then took it away. I then had to go back in to be told thats what I ordered eventually we got a scone but my husband didn't want it. Man came back out no apology. So defo wont be back

I speak as I find . We enjoyed our ice-creams : my husband decided to have the biggest , which caused a lot of comment amongst our fellow customers . Mine was more modest and we enjoyed sitting out in the September sunshine although the breeze from the sea was a distinctly chilly . The service was very friendly .

Visited Beaches and Cream on a beautiful hot and sunny afternoon in mid-September for lunch. Rather than drive to the coast we decided to get the Metro, and this eaterie is very close to Cullercoats Metro station. As usual it was very busy. I think this cafe is popular with retired people and possibly locals. We've been coming here for many years and both the service and quality of food is always very good. My one criticism would be that it generally feels a bit cramped when it's busy. I always feel like I'm either perched on the edge of a table or invading someone else's elbow room. Also, if you are queuing up to pay for your order then you're pretty much blocking the only thoroughfare available for staff to take food out to tables / bring back empties and so you need to be weary of cups, plates, dishes etc. whizzing past. I ordered a mozzarella, tomato and pesto panini and my partner had the soup or the day, both excellent. For desert, we purchased two ice creams from the outdoor takeaway window and sat on the bench across the road looking across the harbour in the sunshine. Beaches and Cream has always been the go-to place for a takeaway ice cream and I would heartily recommend the Eton Mess and the Raspberry Reprise if you're tempted. Despite the slightly claustrophobic interior (I guess it depends where you're sitting) the large picture windows do afford lovely views on a sunny day. So, for food and service - top marks. For comfortable relaxing surroundings - maybe visit during quieter periods.

Just been to this ice cream parlour that also does lunches. It was a very hot sunny day, place very busy, but still made yummy cheese n tomato omelette and omelette for other friends. It was all freshly cooked with coleslaw n side salad. Very tasty. Finished off with freshly made strawberry sundaes n Belgian waffle with fresh fruit, ice cream n chocolate sauce. Staff very friendly, helpful n efficient, eventhough they were very busy. Will definitely visit again.

After a visit to the Sealife Centre, disappointing for the price and an noisy pushchair crammed cafe, I took my granddaughter in search of something to eat. Beaches and Cream looked like a popular place so we went in. The staff were friendly, telling my 4 year old granddaughter they liked her outfit as soon as we sat down. She had orange and almond cake, which I "borrowed" a piece of...tasty. The warm cheese scone with cheese all the way through not just grated on the top, was the best I have had anywhere. Pot of tea, apple juice, cake and a scone all for under £8, good value. I would love the recipe as I can't make them to save my life. Any chance of getting it???

We called in here and were attracted by the afternoon tea. The low cost should have indicated the likely quality! The scones were replaced with enormous tea cakes - not sure why - an explanation would have been good. Scones were served to other people after us. The sandwiches were made with bread that didn’t cope with being cut into quarters - so consequently the fillings fell out. Everything else was just stodgy and very sweet - lacking in flavour. The promised refill of tea had to be requested a few times which meant we were finished. By the time it came. The teapots are very small. We didn’t bother with the sorbet that was included as we’d had enough by then. However it was only £12:50 per person.

Very busy when we arrived, staff found us a table, and were very friendly and courteous, service was good. Menu looked plentiful, and the food that was being served looked very nice. Very clean. I visited this cafe with my husband a couple of weeks ago and was very disappointed. I am in a wheelchair so we decided to go to the back of the cafe so as not to be in the way. We placed our order for Poached eggs on toast with hot chocolate for me and a refillable coffee and a ham sandwich for my husband. The first problem came when a member of staff went past us and opened the back door. The cold and wind was terrible. I thought I was going to be blown away. My husband eventually got up and closed the door (he had to do this 3 times during our visit) but another member of staff came up and opened it again, then asked if we were ok with the door open. When we said no as it was too cold they closed it but said it was boiling in the kitchen. Lo and behold 2 minutes later another staff member opened it up again. This time our food had been delivered and when the door was opened this time the serviettes and packaging from sugar, salt and pepper all blew on the floor. My eggs were tiny and solid when I cut into them stacked on top of 2 slices of toast-like a sandwich ( I think the butter was on the inside) My husbands sandwich was ham between 2 door stops of bread, With the door constantly opening our drinks went stone cold very quickly. We had gone into this cafe to warm up as it was quite chilly and windy outside but left even colder. This cafe needs to improve it's air conditioning in the kitchen and make sure customers are comfortable. We will not be visiting again

My husband and I decided we’d go out for lunch today, I was very unsure what to have, until a young lady approached me asking if she could help, my husband had poached eggs, and I had a tea cake. After we had been served & seated, the same women came out her way to make a conversation with us. (which I think is very welcoming when coming to places like this ). She was full of charisma and definitely put my husband in his place, she had us laughing most of the time we were there , lovely food, great atmosphere & very friendly staff. We will Definitely come back soon!

Whilst walking along the Heritage Trail from Tynemouth to Whitley Bay we stopped for lunch at Cullercoats. Beaches and Cream was a lovely tea room, obviously popular, on the seafront. Everything was home-made and well worth the short wait. We had tomato soup and feta and spinach tart with coleslaw - both were delicious. The service was friendly and the ambiance restful.

Would like to praise the staff today. The shop was totally busy as ever and the team of staff dealt with it extremely well considering the amount of school kids that came for a ice cream today, must of been 120 plus. The two woman were especially nice and pleasant and very apologetic for the wait which I totally understood with the high footfall of custom at the time. The place is always busy and is very well priced for the quality of the food you get. The place is a lovely little cafe/ice cream parlour where many locals and non locals come to meet and chatter and take in the amazing views over the bay into the sea, right on the sea front. If you manage to grab a seat out side on a glorious day there is no view that is better while having a pot of tea and fruit scone.

Title says it all really! The wait time for 2 bowls of soup was ridiculous, we has to ask for cutlery once it arrived, and then again for a napkin, and each time the response was unfriendly (which I couldn't understand, given that cutlery is an essential part of most meals...).

After having a walk a long the coast to Spanish city we deciding to give this cafe a visit on way back as it looked more welcoming than the tea rooms at Spanish City, sadly we were disappointed as the service was not up to scratch. After sitting at our table I got up to order at the till, the lady mumbled something so I assumed she wanted my order, I asked for a cup of coffee and she just continued pressing the till buttons without really acknowledging me, eventually got order in but had to wait a while for it to come. The coffee was fine but the sausage butty was not much to write home about. Not bad value overall though and I did really like the premises.

Totally disgusting to charge 2.65 for a small cup of black coffee, you expect to pay 2.00 anywhere (except Wetherspoons) but 2.65 is an absolute rip off,if you wanted a large coffee they charge you 2.95 for the extra water in the same amount of beans, won’t be back plenty of coffee shops at the coast, they also have the cheek to have a “tip” bucket on the counter

Came here whilst in the area . I had the mince and dumplings ( more gravy than mince , watery mash ) , my wife had the chicken and ham pie ( she wasn't impressed with that either) . When asked about the dessert list, I was told there's a menu on the bar , and basically, go get it yourself . I had the cheesecake, which was OK ( to much middle and not enough top to make the tast of the cheesecake stand out , the wife had the sponge with custard which the sponge was cold , obviously just heated up in the microwave . Will not go here ever again.
