Visited on 11th September while visiting our friends (we are from Hull!) and all the staff were lovely, so friendly and accommodating! The food was beyond delicious (we had roast dinners & fish and chips) then the puddings were amazing! I cannot recommend the chocolate brownie more!! The staff were super accommodating, our 6 month old was being very fussy and they kindly put together some fruit for him 😊 Would definitely recommend!

Great traditional pub. DOES NOT DO FOOD as a rule despite some reviews on here. Occasionally toasty but that is all we were told. So I think some of the pics here showing food are for the wrong place. We love going here for a drink, very reasonable prices, lovely surroundings and friendly clientele. Always head here when in Newcastle.

My twin brother Stephen and I were pub hopping around this part of town when we decided to drop into The Beehive Pub and what a wonderful back street pub this is . I love the look of this pub ,the interior is fab ,wonderful pubby decor and furnishings, tv's to enjoy the sport, a solid wood serving bar dominates the main room and there's plenty of seating options spread throughout this pub, its just one really great pub to unwind in. My twin brother Stephen and I were here on a Monday afternoon, pub was packed with a great atmosphere, we got bottles of Becks beer ,these were served in excellent condition, we luckily managed to get a table were we just kicked back, chilled out and soaked up the great vibe in this busy and popular pub while sipping our beers. I really enjoy Becks beer ,this is a fantastic German beer I really enjoy, been on holiday to Bremen a couple of times were this beer is brewed so I've developed a real taste for this beer . It's a light, hoppy and unpretentious lager style beer bursting with taste, very easy to drink on a hot afternoon. We really enjoyed our beers in here before we moved on and for a first time visit to The Beehive Pub we were totally impressed. The Beehive Pub is easy to locate along High Bridge. Opening hours are; Monday to Sunday, 9am till 11pm. A great pub, most definitely well worth checking out if you're in the area.

Fantastic food but....... The food was great. The steak pie was probably the best I’ve ever tasted. The setting is lovely. The service was great. The tables were well spaced. Most of the staff were wearing masks and or visors But...... when we had driven past an illuminated mobile advertising trailer on the way there telling us we were in a coronavirus hot spot then surely it would be best for everyone that ALL THE STAFF wore masks and visors especially when serving at the tables!!!

We ate last night at the Beehive and the food was just superb! Plenty of choice on the menu without feeling over-phased by too many options and everything fresh. Our meals were cooked to order and we enjoyed our drinks whilst we were waiting. I had fillets of sea bass with oyster mushrooms, spinach, shallots and new potatoes whilst my partner had the best burger he had ever tasted! Chocolate and stem ginger brownie with raspberry ice cream to follow, and a sizeable portion, with coffee and chocolates to end. Every meal we saw arriving at other tables looked so good. This will be our ‘go to’ restaurant from now on! Excellent, friendly service, cosy atmosphere and perfect for us.

Have driven past this past lots of time and thought how nice it looked - it's cosy inside if a little cramped - we had soup and a sandwich which were fine if frankly a bit expensive at £8.50 - but the biggest problem was the wait -over 40 minutes - I could have made the leek and potato soup from scratch in less time! what made it worse is that another party came in (also having soup for a starter) and were served straight away - maybe one of those places only good if you're a regular?

Lovely pub, beautiful setting and the food was delicious. The only thing that lets the place down is the staff, very abrupt and when placing order at the bar I was made to feel like I was a hindrance. Ordered the food, gave the table number and then asked for 2 cokes. Lady was too busy having a heated conversation with a male member of staff. She then looked at me and said so that’s a Diet Coke and a lime and soda?! Ermmm no it’s 2 cokes I said, she looked at me as if I was the stupid one and said ‘so what? Just normal cokes?’ I said yes. But she looked at me as if I was the one in the wrong. When paying the bill we were met by another hard faced woman who just looked straight through us. It was very busy while we were there and the staff didn’t seem like they could cope, they kept putting reserved signs on the tables after they cleared them and when someone asked if a particular table was reserved, she said no, we just do that to stop it getting too busy!!! They obviously aren’t bothered if people walk out. I think a good lesson in customer service is highly recommended.

This is a lovely pub always has been huge beer garden perfect on a rare sunny day next to the coast. We cycled here and luckily because of a world cup match we were able to get a table and there wasn't a huge wait for food. Meal arrived and whilst there was nothing wrong for the price it is nothing special. The veg all seemed to be fresh, putting peas on a Sunday lunch for me is a no no, the beef whilst tender definitely appeared to be the pre carved variety, it couldn't have come off a joint they roasted, the slices were similar to that you would get from a deli counter, didn't taste bad, but for €12 you should be roasting a joint and carving it yourself.

Lovely pub in lovely location. Lovely when the weather is nice and you want a meal or just a drink outside in the beer garden. However very rude young women behind the bar laughing and making sarcastic comments while being served. They did not come across concerned about customers and just came across really rude and a few other people said the same. Quite a shame because the pub is so nice but would not return because the staff made me feel like I was pestering them when only ordering a drink, especially the woman with the extra long dark hair her customer service skills were horrendous.

My partner and I popped here for a bite to eat. We had a bit of difficulty finding a table as quite a few tables of 4 were reserved, and the tables for two were quite pokey and awkward to sit at. Nevertheless we sat at a pokey table and thought we would give it a go.We ordered our food which took nigh on 45 minutes to arrive, but we really didn't have a problem with the wait, what we did have a problem with was couples coming in not fancying any of the pokey tables for two and being seated at the reserved tables (because they knew the manager?!). I object to that, to me they are reserved for a reason, not to be given out if your face fits! Now turning to the food, this was awful. I'm not a great fan of salt. I don't cook with salt so I really notice it in my food. My meal was full of salt. I tried my partners (different meal) and that was pretty salty too! What's going on with overloading dishes with salt?Needless to say we won't be back and I certainly wouldn't recommend the place to anyone!

Visited today for lunch, my husband had just had his gallbladder removed on Tuesday and isn't able to each much, so I asked if he could just have something from the kids menu and this was no problem at all. My father and I had the smoked cod, and my sister had fish cakes. She was unsure as they came with curried leeks, the waitress assured her that they were lovely, so she ordered them and yes they were. We also all had desserts and thoroughly enjoyed everything. Particular thanks to our waitress Phillipa she was extremely friendly and efficient. We will be back.

We went for Sunday lunch and the waiting list was 45 minutes. Both me and my partner sat at the main entrance and bought a drink from the bar. We waited on the barrel stools until our table was ready. The restaurant is dog friendly and at the main entrance there was dog bowls of water for people to use. There was also a stand for walking canes and dirty boots to be placed. The place is frequented by a mixture of people from dog walkers/ramblers to casually dressed and smartly dressed eaters. After half an hour we were taken to our table in the main restaurant. It is a very quaint place with tons of character throughout and the loveliest toilets. It definitely passed the ‘toilet’ test on arrival. I did think the menu would be a full menu but after seeing how many people arrive for Sunday lunch I can understand why the menu was ‘limited’ to Sunday lunch. I ordered the roast chicken and stuffing and my partner ordered beef. The large plates arrived and there were lots of slices of beef and a whole chicken portion neatly sliced. Large Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes, swede mash and gravy. A small pot of vegetables comprising of shredded cabbage, peas and 2 tiny slices of carrot. I was slightly disappointed by the veg but after waiting an hour to eat once I started eating I was very impressed. The food did not disappoint. We were both stuffed on completion and it was well worth the £11.99 each we paid. Outside the venue is just as quaint offering outdoor seating and a secret garden and an extensive carpark. I will definitely return but next time I won’t be driving and I will be staying for slightly longer to take in the atmosphere.

This was my first visit to the Beehive, recommended by a friend who lives locally and I am sure it will not be my last! It is a cosy place with little nooks and crannys and a lovely wood burner which was appreciated on a very cold day. After ordering drinks we took our time choosing from the menu while having a good catch-up. There is a very good choice of meals and they all sounded good but we all decided on fish and chips, or should I say 'whale' and chips,a lovely big portion!( I know a smaller portion can be requested) It took a little while for the food to arrive but as the place was buzzing was not surprising! This was not a problem as we had a lot to catch up on! The food was served piping hot and was absolutely delicious, only downside was that I was so full and satisfied with it I did not have room for a pud ( I'd had my eye on the homemade rice pudding!) I will just have to come back!!!! A friendly and welcoming atmosphere to the pub and also from the staff - thankyou!

We dined on a fairly quiet Monday night-- party of five. The garlic and cheese ciabatta was very nice and the olives were well marinated. I had fishcakes on a curried-something base - absolutely delicious combination. The others in the party also appeared well satisfied. Friendly service and a very cosy setting. Highly recommended!

It's many years since we visited this fantastic pub. We were blessed with a hot September day. The selection of ale is good and although we did not eat the food looked very inviting. We sat in the lovely garden area and enjoyed the views and ambiance. If you are looking for an old traditional pub this is a place to go.

Set in countryside alongside Hollywell Dene the Beehive Country Pub is a relatively small 200 year old Coaching Inn. It has an outside seating area on one side with views to the coast and on the other side there is an extensive enclosed beer garden with a children's play area. There has been an upgrade this year which has retained much of its original old world charm whilst adding a few modern day comforts (like the new loos which are a sight to behold).I have eaten here quite a few times now mostly with the grandchildren in the outside play garden (which makes a welcome change from the nightmare soft play centres they normally frequent!).The owners and staff are always welcoming and friendly and they work diligently serving meals and clearing tables as soon as they are vacated.I mainly go early afternoons and my favourite meal is the soup and sandwich combo (on the last visit it was home made carrot and coriander soup and a large bun with 3 thick slices of pork in gravy with stuffing), very reasonable at £6.95. The kids usually go for the home made children's cheese burger (the burger is about an inch thick!) and home made chips for £4.95 the draught beer is also good here. The only negative comment I would make is that the main meal prices are generally around 10 to 15% more than other pub restaurants in the area but conversely the quality and presentation at the Beehive are a cut above normal pub grub.Always a pleasant day out I can highly recommend the Beehive.

Went to this bar with friends before heading to a club. Crowd friendly. Wasn't too busy which was a bonus so nice and easy to get served. Great selection of beers and friendly clientele.

Visited on a lunchtime. Although the pub was busy ample parking spaces. Very friendly welcome from all the staff. The decor I found was very homely comfortable with original character. God choice of drinks. I thought the menu had a good choice of food and we did not have to wait long for our meal. I can reccommend the steak pie with home made chips, it was very good and filling. I was pleased that we chose to eat at the Beehive and would certainly recommend it. The entrance into the pub was welcoming and the toilets were spotless. There is also a lovely garden area off the car park.

Have been here a few times over the past few years, but it had been a while so decided to visit it again. A lovely little pub, the food is delicious albeit a little pricer than other pub meals, but in my opinion, worth it. The "Secret Garden" is a lovely place to relax with a nice glass of wine on a warm day, and there is a great play area for kids too.The small little quirky details are brilliant - dog beer, dog popcorn etc. Overall a great place, serving great food.

Here's hoping the refurbishment of this lovely pub with great food will improve their customer service when trying to reserve a table why can you only reserve for a party of 6. Very strange policy please change it......

Came to this pub Easter Sunday and it was packed. We were told it would be up to a 45 minute wait. 10 mins later we were shown to our table. The amount of food we got on our place was amazing, too much for me really because it meant I had no room left to sample one of their delicious sounding desserts. Would definitely come here again.

Sunday lunch for two was excellent, portions very big, very tasty and service as quick as they could as it was very busy. Real ale was spot on as well. A bit of a mix up with the bill but it was sorted out once it was pointed out. Will go back for the same. It gets very busy so be prepared to wait for your grub.

As you know we like to go to a different place each week for Sunday lunch, but the Beehive deserves another visit soon. It was very busy but they found us a table without waiting too long. We both ordered the Sunday roast in a smaller portion. When it came it was a generous plateful so good job we had not ordered full size. Everything was piping hot and the food was delicious. The staff were friendly and the whole atmosphere of the place was good. We will certainly be back for another visit

I have never been disppointed with the Sunday lunch at the Beehive. You sometime wait for a seat but its well worth it. The Sunday lunch Duo is my fav option with loads of beef and pork on a buttery sweet carrot and sweet potato mash, roasties done in goose fat and a gigantic yorkie pud and lashings of gravy. The a side order of cabbage, peae, carrots and broccoli. It just cant be beaten

We visited for a late lunch on Saturday, arriving just after 1.30pm, we never thought to book on arriving all the tables were full, the waitress advised of a 45 minutes wait, so we were more than happy to wait, so we sat in the snug bar area ordered a bottle of very nice wine, we had only waited ten minutes and we were told they had a table. Our table was very well placed. We had starters across the party from the french black pudding, scotch egg, salmon salad all were simply superb everyday dish was excellant. For our mains we had mince and dumplings, steak pie, best ever tasted and fish cakes. The service was great atmosphere too. Could not simply fault anything, we all had a fabulous afternoon. Truly can't wait to go back the next time we visit family as we live in Cheshire.

my partner and I called for lunch. I had not been before, he had and was saying how good the steak pie was. arriving the bar was empty it was near on 12ish. most of the tables were reserved. found a 1. ordered the winter burger. it was fantastic, fresh tasty. and presented lovely. meals started around 9.50 upwards. we waited around 30mins, but as the notice says they serve fresh food not fast food. the bar itself is lovely. quaint and quirky. toilets spotless . looked to be a little beer garden and kids area if you need that sort of thing too. staff very friendly. cant wait to return. loved it

We were really looking forward to our 2nd visit because we had had lovely meals on our last visit but sadly our expectations were not met with by two of us. I chose minced beef with dumplings, this was a new one on me, but wrong choice. The mince was far too peppery and the dumplings just went into crumbs every time I tried to spear some on my fork, obviously these were baked dumplings and not what I was expecting at all. The steak was okay but they could have gone easier on the garlic. Extra large burger went down very well apart from it being served in a box, oh please what is wrong with plates, don't fix if it isn't broken!!! We also had to wait 30 minutes for our food but people who arrived after us were served their meals before we were. Maybe we were just unlucky this time. Was not worth the 30 minute drive to get there.

I dined here last year on my travels and couldn't wait to return when I came back to Newcastle this year. I took my Grandparents and we had a beautiful evening. I had the duck salad for entrè and special of crab tagliatelle for main- divine, superb... 10/10! My Granda had the black pudding starter which I tried and it was heavenly, then followed with the steak which he said was cooked perfectly. My Nana had the special of roast beef and loved it. Portions were huge and they thankfully let us bring it home to enjoy tomorrow-I can't wait. The staff could not be faulted- the two waitresses were friendly and helpful, while the owner/manager made you feel welcomed and taken care of. We had a great evening and I look forward to coming back next year!

Don't make a booking here. Staff were great, however the owner is not - effectively lied in order to steal £100 from us. We booked the upstairs for a meeting, and the owner claimed we didn't inform them of the meeting details, making up excuses to keep the £100 deposit. When booking we were fully informative, but when we raised this our number was blocked - very unprofessional way of dealing with customers.

Had a great afternoon here with my wife. Great prices and the bar staff are tremendous. A big shout out for Claire the barmaid who couldn't have made us more welcome and went above and beyond to make our afternoon even better. This lovely lady saved us a great deal and welcomed us to a saving app. It's great. (Money off booze. Say no more). Thank you Claire. We definitely recommend this pub. It's stood the test of time and will definitely be here for a lot more years to come. Proper pub. Proper people and Proper bar staff. Thank you. See you soon 🍻🍻🍻
