Beefeater - West Highland Gate in East Dunbartonshire

Not family friendly. Most kids meals never came with fries. Kids meals were £6.99 and never came with a kids drink. I ordered fries on the side (more money) . A very small bowl came and they said they stopped doing free refills. The macaroni had various vegetables through it and not at the side so my kids wouldn’t eat it. The smothered chicken wasn’t the same as it used to be. Hardly any cheese and barbecue sauce. They emailed to say that with an adults meal you get a kids meal free during the holidays. However only if you pick from the al a carte menu which is double the price. It was very quiet however the waitress was run off her feet. She was very nice. Not as good as it used to be for families.

Really poor meal and service. The quality of this restaurant has gone down hill but I was very disappointed with my Easter visit. Dirty menus, things that should be cold like wine were warm and things that should be warm like food were cold. Food tasted very low quality with poor presentation. Won’t be returning.

What fabulous staff, made us very welcome, nothing was too much bother. Would def return. Meal was standard but good so all in all would recommend

Usually our meals are fine. Tonight our fish was overdone and the batter hard. Christy our server was excellent though, immediately apologised and removed the cost from our bill. Very professional and always serves with a smile. Hopefully next time will be better. It usually is good.

My family visit the West Highland Gate Beefeater fairly often and always have a lovely meal. We visited for a combined Mother's Day and birthday meal. It was exceptionally busy and there were some hiccups with our food but the reason I am still giving five stars is down to the team's response and the fact that they went above and beyond to address and resolve our issues. I know that there can always be unforeseen issues which arise no matter where you visit, however I strongly believe that how these are addressed is the true measure of an establishment and so discussed with the Manager who having been given the opportunity to resolve things went to great lengths to "make things right". We returned the following week for dinner and the food was excellent, service couldn't have been better, and we had our usual thoroughly enjoyable experience.

Worse mothers day ever service poor waited nearly 40 minutes for dinner. When arrived was not very warm chips cold so was gravy. I have eaten here many times this was worst ever. s a result won't go back again lost good customers. To many other places to go these days nothing worse paying for cold food. Never complained due length time waited also because with my mum and I was treating her for mothers day. Very disappointed.

Staff were run off their feet for Mother's day but the were still attentive and bey apologetic for any delays. Couldn't ask for more from your staff. There were 6 of us and we had a lovely time. Thank you. Rita

From the Premier Inn, Milngavie the Beefeater is the perfect place for breakfast or evening meal during your stay . Chef Cameron cooks the perfect steak - delicious!

Sunday lunch with my daughter. The staff were very busy but delivered excellent service with a smile. What an amazing place and the roast dinner was worry of a 5* hotel. Cannot recommend highly enough. THANK YOU

Lovely meal. Fantastic staff. Children’s steak and popcorn chicken super. Great choices for children. Adult menu great too. Steak pie melts in your mouth and sticky toffee pudding so light. Thoroughly recommend. All staff were super with the children and us! Special mention goes to Gemma our waitress. Birthday was so memorable for one of our wee bunch. Thank you so much. Can’t rate highly enough. Don’t hesitate in stopping in for a meal. Thoroughly recommend. Photo says it all clean plate.

My son and I were out walking, like most Sundays, and were looking for somewhere local for breakfast. We popped into "the other" place across at Burnbrae initially, to find that they were not serving food until 12 noon......what?!!!! We turned round and headed for The Beefeater, Milngavie. When we went into the restaurant, we were greeted by two very pleasant waitresses who showed us to our table and explained exactly how the continental part of the brekky worked and to help ourselves to teas and coffees. Once we had sorted out our starters the lovely waitress came over and took our hot brekky order.. When the hot food came, it was fresh, perfectly cooked, hot and plentiful. ALL FOR £9.99......I,ve travelled extensively at home and to many European countries, but this is without doubt the best breakfast I have ever had!! For a TENNER..... Thanks to the two waitresses and the chef for our fantastic experience. We will be back. Hasta la vista.

We had 2 evening meals here. My husband and I found the customer service exceptional. It is a long time since we have had staff in a restaurant so pleasant, accommodating and well trained. They are a credit to Beefeater. The food was really good too - obviously very hot and well cooked. Rib eye steak with triple fried chips - scrumptious! Very short waiting time too. Well done all of you! Very happy customers!

Unfortunately our Xmas Dinner was a shambles they got the starters wrong then the lassie git a wee bit cheeky and told us that's what you ordered...It turns out they had sat us at someone else's table therefore were trying to give us that groups meal Finnally got our correct starters then waited around 1.10mins for our mains which they had to retake that order because of the mix up...My Salmon was overdone burnt and dry and the puff pastry was flat and pathetic not quite what I was expecting-Then they had to retake our dessert order and told my parents they had ran out of Xmas pudding only then to be told by another staff member they had binned the last of them thinking they were not needed....Very costly meal and wished I had stayed at home and cooked for myself...Felt sorry for some if the staff difficult job in difficult circumstances but certain issues could have been avoided.

Staff were very good. Paid particular attention to the children in party. Food was excellent.

We got served quickly and got our starters within 10 minutes. They asked us when we were ready for our mains. The girl who served us was lovely. She was so pleasant. The food was amazing! They had a good selection of beers that my husband loved! Great food, great beer choice!

Had a nice day out for lunch, staff was nice and polite. Tried the christmas menu (cheese fondue then festive chicken burger) Fondue was great! There was a lot of it, good to warm up after getting in from the cold. Chicken burger was a regular chicken burger, just with cranberry sauce & a pig in blanket (bacon wrappef sausage). Booked for daughters 21st birthday, said this at booking. No mention of it or anything special done for her (why ask on booking, if makes no difference from normal meal out) Food, at best, was average. Starters were small on huge plates with practically no garnish, looked shocking, tasted ok. Main meals, again, seemed small, no coleslaw with meals, which have had previously. Fries were over cooked & a very small portion. Smothered chicken was OK, but not overly hot. Burgers were nice & so was fish. Desserts were all lovely. Very disappointed in food & that no-one even wished my daughter a happy birthday. Doubt we'll be back.

Have been with my friend a number of times and wrote a review on another platform. On Sunday we also had the company of another couple who hadn't been before. Jackie, the manageress, was so welcoming and showed us to our table. The starters and main courses, all different, were just lovely and so perfectly presented. As we were leaving the other couple definitely said that they would return and yes they picked up a loyalty card.

When we came in without booking reception said there were no free tables but half of the restaurant was empty, we came out and booked a table online in the same restaurant, then waitress told us that we need leave in 2 hours because that table booked, felt very not welcome there.

We were visiting Glasgow and decided to have dinner there. Checked online - a few available slots but a bit later. So decided just to pop in and see maybe some table becomes available earlier while waiting at the bar. But as soon as we walked in after saying that we haven't booked a table we were told that there are no available tables for the rest of the evening, though all restaurant looked quite empty... Was hard to believe, same was told to people behind us. They left as well. When we went out decided still to check online, and surprisingly they had plenty empty slots available, so booked ours in 15 min and walked back. This time another waitress let us in and sat at the table. The first waitress, who told us that there no available tables, saw us and asked the waitress who let us in, if we booked the table, after confirmation she came to us and said that this table is booked 2 hours later, so we need to be out by that time... we did and didn't see anyone waiting for our table... We are quite often in Beefeater restaurants, but we've never had such un unpleasant experience...

Got breakfast here after a night stay in Premier next door, £9.99 (per person) cooked & continental breakfast (unlimited) for both myself and my partner. Good good, great service and easy enough to pre-order from hotel reception next door.

Arrived in the area just after 9pm on a Tuesday after traveling all day. Most places kitchens had just closed and this was the 3rd place we tried. They said as long as we ordered in the next 15mins or so we would be fine to eat. The place was pretty empty that late on but service was friendly enough and our steaks were really quite good. All my family like our steaks differently cooked and they were all bang on. My wife's chips may have been partially reheats maybe but overall I was pleasantly surprised. Fair price for decent steaks.

It was okay. The ribs were well prepared but the fries could have been better. The salad included was not much. Service was okayish. Not really a place where I would go again.

Absolutely 1st class service by the lovely ladies who worked the evening of Sunday 9th and morning of Monday 10th April. They were all friendly and helpful despite a very busy day. Can't say the food is up to much but the staff need lots of praise for their hardwork and smiles during a very busy time. It made all the difference to us.

Usually staff are amazing but last time the waitress was a bit off. It's a typical chain pub/eatery and you kinda know what you are going to get. Good place to take elderly parents.

After a hard days work we decided to go here for tea !! Big mistake the food looked like something my dog had just thrown up and the 8 chips I got with it looked like they would be happy with another 30 minutes in the microwave poor show

Unfortunately went for 3pm dinner during the week and whilst the price remained far higher than a Wetherspoons menu, the food was on a par or even below. Very disappointing. A shared nachos plate was pretty disgusting with cheap cheese watery sauce and pretty insulting in size. Its the only restaurant where you asked to pay a supplement on something as basic as haddock! I definitely wouldn’t recommend.

Not a great experience. Food order was not correct and was not particularly hot on eventual delivery. Staff tried hard but were badly let down by incompetent kitchen staff.

Will never go there again!! The food looked as if it was just thrown on the plate, no finesse about it what so ever. I was just shocked that the chef thought this was good enough to serve up. The chicken was over cooked the 10 chips I had with the lasagna were never tripple cooked and just thrown on the plate. I didn't want to pay but my partner did. Hence my opening statement. Don't waste your hard earned money for shoddy food.

Extremely good service and enjoyable experience, staff are very well at caring for you and fast service as well as the enjoyable atmosphere, been coming here for birthday dinners for years. will definitely be returning soon.
