Great experience today for lunch. We had soup and sandwiches which were freshly made upon request. I had sweet potato and chilli soup, my husband had lentil and ham. We had tuna mayo and chicken mayo sandwiches on brown bread. Could not fault a thing. We then shared a huge meringue with a latte and americano coffee. The staff are first class and could not have been more helpful. We will definitely be back and from now on will be regulars . Thank you all for making our day out extra special.

Visited with a friend for a birthday lunch. We both had sandwiches. Very generous with the filling. A lovely lunch. We also had some cakes. I’d s great strawberry tart and my friend had an empire biscuit. Service for the sandwiches was quick. We’d a slight wait for our cakes. When we pointed out the delay it was quickly rectified and the member of staff who took our order came and apologised.

Visited here this morning for coffee and cake. No complaints about either both good. As soon as we had finished our plates and cups were removed and waitress asked if we wanted more drinks. This made us feel as though we were getting rushed away. The place was not busy so they weren't wanting our seats. The table next to us hadn't even finished their drinks when their plates were whisked away. Feel it is a bit rude taking the plates and cups away so quickly and for this reason won't be rushing back as there are plenty coffee shops in Kirkintilloch who don't do this.

Visited on Wednesday 17 August for coffee and cake and was pleased to see a notice beside the cake cabinet saying 'Coffee and Cake £4.25'. We ordered two cakes, one coffee and one latte, fully expecting to be charged £8.50 plus the difference between standard coffee and latte. Were shocked to be charged £12.10! When we challenged this, we were told that the offer was only for sponge cake, which the notice did NOT specify. Although we pointed out that the notice was incorrect, we still had to pay the higher price. Won't be back for coffee, plenty of other choices.

The food is tasty and when I asked for a specific desert the server actually told me there was none left but they would make me one fresh. It was delicious and I appreciated the gesture also. We turned up 5 minutes before our booking and were told the table wasn't ready and to wait. When we returned to the front desk the queues was all the way across the floor. I went up to a server and advised we had a booking and she advised so did everyone else in the queue, it was quite rude but also made no sense... there was not enough tables to seat everyone there . There was no way we had all made a booking or would be getting seated at the booked time. I pushed back and ultimately we received a table... but if I hadn't we would have had to wait in the queue for a very long time which would not have been great and is probably what happened to everyone else standing. I would return but the service isn't great. The food makes up for it.

We went for breakfast here and not a great experience , after being seated we had to ask to have the table cleaned as it was obvious it had not been cleaned after the last customer, waited ages before our order was taken, the noise from a phone ringing on a loudspeaker was very annoying and the staff rushing about , one rushed by our table and spilt milk over the floor. Our plates were removed as soon as we put our cutlery down while still drinking our tea , just felt very rushed , either get more staff or don't take as many bookings .Then you have to queue up to pay !!!

Empecé a elegir algo.

. . mejor que he probado, ¡y tampoco demasiado grande!

Caulder's is not a big place, but it's very, very popular and sometimes you need to queue to be seated. There's a fair-sized car park. The staff are VERY welcoming and friendly! Visited today this is not the 1st time I've been here but it was my husband's and I didn't have a problem taking him as I've always had a lovely experience and today was no different with regards to the food it was lovely however when our drinks arrived I was given a dirty glass . This in itself isn't a problem I called a waitress over and told her it was filthy and she took it away and gave me a clean one . The glass itself was dirty but more it looked like she had given me a previously used by a child glass as there was what I can only describe as dirty sticky fingers marks all over it . I wouldn't normally complain however the girl at the next table to us asked to see my glass when she overheard me saying to my husband that my glass was dirty and she told me she had actually returned the very same glass because of how dirty it was so I can only assume that instead of putting the dirty glass away to be washed it was put back on the shelf. If that is the case then I'd suggest your staff be retrained . I myself work in a very busy very popular cafe and our policy is when our glasses come out the dishwasher they are inspected and individually polished with kitchen roll to make sure they are spotless as is the same policy with our cutlery it is a little time consuming however it ensures we never have complaints regarding dirty glasses or cutlery. Today's experience hasn't put me off a return visit however I will feel compelled to examine my glass and cutlery in future.

On one occasion a member of the garden centre staff noticed I'd a flat tyre when I was returning to my car. He insisted on changing the wheel for me and wouldn't take any money for his kindness. This was definitely out with his job description. On another occasion my elderly mum took ill while in the restaurant and the staff had to call an ambulance. While we waited for the ambulance a member of staff sat with my elderly dad and reassured him. I've taken relatives from Australia who were highly impressed with the food and garden centre. There are also loads of home made cakes to choose from ..... these are a little on the expensive side when you consider the above but the portion sizes are large. This is a great little tea house and very popular with the locals ..... depending on what time of day you go I suggest you book a table in advance.

As i live locally this is a great place to pop to for lunch -as its not open for dinner. It is always busy so expect you may have to wait for a table - but there is a nice gift shop and of course the garden center to keep you entertained whilst you wait . The staff are friendly and efficient. The restaurant is clean and well organised. My fav thing on the menu is the Macaroni Cheese - its the best i have had anywhere. The cook tells me the secret ingredient is the mustard that has to be added once off the heat. I could eat 2 portions everytime i visit i love it soo much. That and the huge Meringues keep me going back for more. Keep up the good work folks its much appreciated.

Our family are regular visitors to Caulders, living in the area. Food is always of a good standard, the selections are just right for this type of restaurant, garden centre and gift shop Prices are on the high side and I would add this comment - on a recent visit the girl serving our table was asked for lemon for our waters, the piece appeared which was barely the size of a finger nail, being asked for more we then got the scraps which were left. Our tea for 4 was in a teapot for 2 but with 4 tea bags ugh, we did request hit water which arrive in a tiny tea pot for one, would suggest Caulders give more thought to staff training in the restaurant especially younger staff.

As keen gardeners, we often visit Caulders to buy plants ( best quality in the Kelvin Valley!) and it's usually accompanied by a visit to their eatery. It's always busy and at the weekend, you need to be prepared to wait for a table. Their food is decent and always freshly cooked. Their crayfish wraps are especially nice. Home baking is exceptional. However, it is a bit on the pricey side. Bit of a captive market being in a garden centre mind you!

Had a really nice lunch here with friends, good selection, only one negative is that it was a bit on the pricey side - it is a garden centre afterall.

Visited Calders for some lunch with my father. We both opted for some delicious home made lentil soup and sandwiches - chicken mayo and tuna served with salad and crips. I just love the lattes served here and often come down for afternoon coffee and one of their delicious cakes. Try one of their huge meringues if you dare! You won't be disappointed.

Went with my boyfriend for breakfast on a Sunday morning. Ordered 2 hot drinks and 2 full breakfasts. The hot drinks came shortly after but we waited over an hour and still no sign of the breakfasts. We then politely asked how long they’d be as we had something else on afterwards and the staff had to check and came back to say there was an issue with the till processing the order. We were sat right next to the kitchen door and many other customers who came in after us and ordered the same were served within 10/15 minutes. It’s difficult to understand why this was not picked up by the staff before having to ask. By the time we had raised the issue we didn’t have time to wait on them restarting our order so asked for the bill for the hot drinks. At this stage I would have expected at least a good will gesture for the hassle but no they still charged us fully for the drinks and we left. Very poor customer service.

Friendly service, nice lunch, nice setting and ambience. Tends to have a bit of a wait, from my experience. Worth a visit, have been several times.

I had a human hair in my meal. Very outdated, decor and table and seating all need replaced. Needs new walls and ceiling at the back of the restaurant. We won't be back.
