Visited on Saturday without a booking got a table and was served by Scott for the night, very happy and bubbly guy got a good couple of recommendations and must say the food was absolutely delicious I believe the chef was Ed. Steak was cooked amazing and the sticky crispy chicken was delicious, will definitely be back, hopefully soon!

Food was great, staff lovely, visited on a Saturday and was busy, food still got delivered as quick as possible and was cooked to perfection, I really like the hunters chicken would definitely recommend it!

Ignored when we entered, then staff shouting across full restaurant to check if our table was ready was not a good start. Loads of empty tables so not even sure what that was about. Staff continued to have loud personal conversations with each other and the couple next to us, I didn't appreciate two staff members standing at my shoulder blethering loudly while I ate. Food was nothing special, the only element of all courses freshly cooked was the steak, everything else was clearly prepared earlier then reheated. Mushrooms came with warm stale bread, pate with half a cold untoasted baguette. Very strange decision there. Very small portion of chips, more paper in the dish than chips and sticky toffee should have come with a lot more custard and in a bowl or even with a choice of ice cream.. Glad we took the lunch deal and not the a la carte as if that was the standard of cooking it would have been a rip off. Bill came to just over £47, handed over a £50 dine out card and was asked to then pay the amount left on my card, I had to explain he had it the wrong way round. Nice place, good setting by canal but left disappointed and won't return.

1st visit here and took my dog with me to have lunch with a friend. We chose 2 course lunch menu which had a good choice. Food was served by very friendly staff and were very patient with us, as my friend had allergies and we both had food preferences, all of which were catered for and served with a smile. Even my dog was catered for with a blanket to lie on, water and biscuits so we were all very happy.

Lovely 3 coarse meal .£20 .Friendly helpful staff.

All our food was disappointing. I've eaten here before on a number of occasions and it is becoming more disappointing each time.

1st of all the staff are amazing everytime we come here the food is excellent the portion size is huge. Gary an kayleigh are very nice never seen staff so friendly an professional we will b back yet again but highly recommend this place it has never let us down thank again Gary and kayleigh see u soon

Lovely staff, cosy interior, good selection of meat, fish and vegetarian dishes and a la carte or set menu. They are very child and dog-friendly.

I stopped here for a light lunch as the location is lovely, food is good and service is usually friendly, however, on the this occasion the service was not so friendly. Sadly this visit was tainted by an abrupt rude member of staff which left me feeling totally disrespected! That said, the food is good and might return sometime …

My 3 daughters, grandaughter and 2 cocker spaniels went 4 lunch for 1230pm saturday 17 August. The service was 2nd to none and were really impressed by the warm and friendly staff. Food was amazing - all starters came out together as did our mains including food for both dogs which they wolfed down. We were made aware they did food 4vtge dogs by one of the staff. Great idea. We will be back soon. Thank you 4 the amazing afternoon we all had.

Had a lovely first time experience at The Stables - lovely atmosphere and equally as good food! Came here for Sunday dinner with my sister and was served by Kelsey - she was very attentive and served us with a smile! Would highly recommend - can’t wait to come back and try their desserts as we were both too full! ☺️

The food was excellent. Main course was perfect (hunters chicken) and the creme brulee was beyond expectations. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. I will be back ⭐️

Absolutely lovely staff and food. Good value too. I especially like the offer of a hot drink and a mini pud. Also. Very dog friendly, with a table with treats and water for our furry friends.

Had a lovely meal, but they were extremely busy and had run out of a few things Staff are very friendly but extremely overworked when it’s that busy Maybe some staff were off on holiday

Gary our server was friendly and attentive. Gary served our food promptly and our chefs were Robert and Matt, their food was lovely and tasty, served hot and obviously freshly prepared. Our bill for four was about £110 which we found to be great value for money. Will be back for sure.

Stopped here while cycling today. Pint of beer was fine but food was really bad. They made me wait for long because it seems a part of dish was not ready and by the time I got the order served, food was cold. It wasn't the case of place being busy as most of the tables were empty. Just poor service overall. Staff were fine, no complaints but folks in Kitchen needs to do a better job. I won't be visiting again.

We booked a table for 8:45pm, we turned up at 8:53pm and were told that the booking was cancelled as we were late. The excuse that was given was that “the chefs have been working all day and are tired and we have closed the kitchen”.. I’m sorry but I think that’s their job to cook for paying customers from opening time till (near) closing time. The restaurant/pub doesn’t close until 10:30pm. Hope this reaches higher management as this was very poor customer service.

It was such an enjoyable experience for all of my family; particularly my mum as it was her 75th birthday. They made it so special.

Spontaneous visit around lunch time. Suzi explained the menus and was super helpful. Food, atmosphere and service were all excellent. We’ll definitely be going back.

We enjoyed a lovely meal on Saturday night before going to a birthday party. I had the aubergine bake which was delicious as were the gins! Definitely be back. The young staff were very well trained. Polite, friendly and professional. 10/10

We had the 3 course lunchtime menu which was good value, well-presented and delicious. Our food was served efficiently by cheerful and friendly Gary, and we thought the mini dessert plus hot beverage was a great idea hence we had the 3 courses rather than the 2 we'd intended. We had been before a while ago but this time the food was excellent and we'll certainly go back again; well done chefs Callum and Leah!

Took my mum and gran here for lunch. Service was so slow for a Wednesday lunch time. Food was incredibly slow at coming out and then had to send back because chips were freezing. Once we finished our meal we then waited 25 minutes for someone to come clear our table for desserts. We decided to not stay desserts because the service had been so slow. I used to really love this place but it's gone down hill.

the only good thing was the pint, food was overcooked and the quality was poor wrong order brought for starter and main which meant one eating while the other waited. the calamari was overcooked yet cold, the "king" prawn dish when it arrived was certainly not king in size and also over done, my main when it came (fish and chips) was again overcooked and i had a magnificent 9 chips, add in there were no condiments on the table and when we asked for the bill the person we asked passed our table more than 6 times never once with the bill, we eventually went to the bar to get and pay our bill.......... like i say the only good thing was the pint.

The first time I've had an ok meal. The fish batter was extremely burnt. I only ate half . When I said to the waitress. She gave our party.of 3. Free deserts. I have been many times and I will be back.

We went for dinner and were informed about the 3 small plates for £10 which seemed like a good deal. It was only later on that we realised that all of the dishes we ordered were only £2.95 on the main menu. Bit of a con. Ordering for the children we chose the kids menu and paid £8.50 for a tiny bowl of pasta and a watery glass of juice. The kids had to eat our food because they were still hungry. I used to love this place but it's not as good as it used to be.

Slow to non-existent service. Luke warm chips. Not a bad burger but a bit expensive for lunchtime. Took 20 mins to get a mocktail at the table after ordering then after 10- 15m waiting on a diet coke after the meal I gave up and just paid my bill and left. Service was so slow and the food wasn't great for the price.

Did not have a booking, yet staff kindly fit us in, despite being very busy. Quick service of good food. Dog- friendly too!

From London to Skye, a great holiday. The last meal out was at The Stables. The restaurant has great appeal, right on the Glasgow Branch canal. We sat outside on this warm day. The interior was very comfortable looking. An order at the bar place, easy enough. They do serve the food. Nice bar, the staff was great, quick to pour. With time to chat, we did just that for a bit. A barmaid was very pleasant, a good representative of the restaurant. I got the impression she was running this bar. Blonde girl. The meals were pizza, fish and chips, salad with chicken, and a beef sandwich. Zero complaints. A few barges cruised by bike riders stopped, and folks with their pups enjoyed lunch. Cheers!

Best roast I’ve had in a long time. staff were really friendly and helpful and it was nice being somewhere dog friendly that serves such quality food

Was in for a Father’s Day dinner , food was lovely went for the Sunday roast, all 3 meat was lovely loads of gravy loved it . Our lovely server Rosie was brilliant and soo helpful! We will definitely be back

Fantastic venue, cosy setting, dog friendly, food is fine, cuisine and drinks competively priced, restaurant clean, staff are very friendly but incompetent in completing orders which spoiled an overall good meal.

The Sea Bass main course was amazing. All food was warm well cooked and very pleasant

When booking a table I asked, if possible, could we have a table next to the lovely log fire. Upon arrival we were escorted to our table by the log fire, by Sarah. She was amazing from arriving to leaving. Nothing was too much trouble. Food was fabulous, atmosphere was wonderful. Definately recommend.

Superb quality of food, yummy and oozing with freshness Also setting - lovely!! Chef Jack and servers Jane, Gary and KJ made us feel some lovely and well attended to. Great quality at reasonable cost!!

Massively over priced 16.95 for fish n chips 16.95 fr chicken snitzel 8.50 fr kids pizza 7.45 fr apple crumble n a ball of ice cream, I took my wife and granddaughter 1 lager shandy 2 diet brew cost me £71 went to th craigmarloch in cumbernauld got nearly exact same meal plus went large fr 2 fish total bill £42, £29 difference I definitely won't go back to th stables and would highly recommend the craigmarloch

- very pleasant for a sunny day - normal prices - friendly staff - space for bikes, water for dogs, clean toilets - well located (close to the canal) and I recommend spending some hours there in the afternoon

I can't reply to your reply so accept my apologies here .Yes I understood you were stretched and doing your best .I have visited a few times and was happy then .I know you do your best 👌 and I can imagine it was very stressful .Even a wee sandwich would have been appreciated..even a cake 🎂. I would still visit again your restaurant has a wonderful atmosphere and good tasty food .All the very best and I hope your chef recovers soon 😀

The guy who seated us was rude and inconsiderate of elderly family with mobility issues. We were told 3 times where to sit because they were slow walking. Waited 45 mins for main course. Resturant was mostly empty. Ordered sea bass. Fish under cooked. Vegetables were not el dente just raw. Salad looked tired. Food was at best luke warm. Steak and ale pie was swimming in a pool of grease and oil. I do not recommend. Barely edible and vastly overpriced. Avoid!!

Been at the stables on a few occasions in the past and has always delivered a great meal whatever we've ordered was there yesterday and was shocked when both me and my partner ordered our starters I had brie deep fried it wasn't even hot and it wasn't deep fried I think it must have been oven cooked and out a frozen pack then we ordered the pie if the day I was expecting a nice creamy pie and when you went through the pastry it was terrible and watery filling the vegs cold and tasteless I don't like to complain and was so disappointed as we travel from Coatbridge as a treat I don't think I will be back sorry

Three different things was off the menu we asked for I had lasagna what was definitely microwaved and not that warm found it very expensive for what it was

Established and popular but the lunchtime I used it with my grandson the service was poor.I realise that trying to have enough staff serving and in the kitchen is difficult to judge but on school holidays especially the last day should be taken into consideration for staffing levels.

The food by Jack was fantastic, all plates were cleared. Really enjoyed the Signature burger. Good size kids meals too.

A warm welcome on a dreich day.👍 Main course was enjoyable. Really puzzled why waiter wouldn't let us order either full size dessert from the set lunch menu, insisted we were only allowed hot beverage and mini dessert!?? Wish I'd challenged it at time. Apart from that it was fine.

Went today easter Monday, we were told before we sat down the items they had run out of????? 4 on menu, waited for 10-15 minutes before drink order got took,waited even longer for food order to be took.after ordering 4 different meals again long wait for then waitress to come up to table to say 1 meal wasn't available so my son in law ordered same as me ,ten minutes later waitress came back to tell us both mine and son in laws wasn't available. So we then decided to leave and go elsewhere, holiday weekend I'm sorry they should have plenty of food available and more staff I only seen 2 staff working 1st time visiting but alas won't be back terrible standards. The wait to be told certain items was a disgrace let's say we changed to something else would my wife and daughters meals have been over cooked

We booked a table in advance for a special occasion of our parents meeting. When we arrived we were sat at the bar at a broken table. We asked to move then waited a further 10 minutes for menus. When the waitress took the order she told us the kitchen was sold out of nearly all starters, all roast dinners except 1 and a list of mains too. The service was really not good enough. The booking was at 1730 and there is no reason that the kitchen should be sold out of almost half the menu, and certainly no reason for the complete lack of service we received.

Took my family here for a lunch today and what a disaster. We waited an hour and 40 mins for food that never came we gave up in the end and left. Such a shame as we have been before and was a good experience but today was terrible.

Friendly and cosy pub with a large varied menu. Staff always friendly and accommodating. We find it's better on a weekday as Sundays and public holidays are always very busy and the service time and meal quality suffers.

The staff were lovely, and so was the food. A couple of things we wanted were not available, but that wouldn't put me off coming back.

The best place to come after a cycle in Glasgow. The service is amazing. They have the best Sunday roast we’ve ever had and Daniel made our night! Will deffo be recommending this place to tones of people! Will come back with more people. Hope you’re ready to look after us all Daniel 😂 10/10

We come here often after our Saturday walks along the canal. The staff are always great and so accommodating with the dogs & the baby and the food is always delicious. Complements to chef Leah and our wonderful server, Sarah, she’s been amazing!!

Food was ok, took a good while toncome to the table and had to send 2 meals back as they were cold. The lady serving was lovely and friendly!

Had the worst Shepherd's pie ever, crispy topped potato which had went chewy, dried out lamb mince also chewy( there was hardly any of it) the dish was roasting hot. Dried up mashed potato on the side. Waited over 45 mins for it as well.... £17 for a dinner that my dog probably wouldn't eat as it was mostly dried mash potato. Took it back, didn't bother with anything else as my pal's rice in her curry was like mush, nothing else appealled. The place was freezing as well. Staff pleasant though.

Finally tried this place today whilst in the area. Area specifically designated for dogs, with blankets provided (suggest booking if you're bringing a four-legged friend as tables for dog owners were all busy). Food good, fairly priced. Nice atmosphere with the fire etc. The best quality it has is the service which was excellent. Efficient, friendly and a reason to return.

A disappointing mother's day experience. When we arrived, we were very specifically told you had a max of 1hr 45mins, which we thought no problem. Sadly, if you've got staff who promise to bring menus over for dessert, then don't reappear in the area that you are sitting for 25 minutes and say sorry, I forgot to bring the menus. It's not really good enough when you then only have 20 minutes left of the table and still no menu. We had to pay for a 3 course meal but only able to have 2 courses. I would also like to point out that we came in with our child. We put in the comments when booking about having a high chair, but the staff never even asked if we needed one, so we had to go get one ourselves. Poor customer service ruined what should have been a lovely meal.
