Friendly service, nice lunch, nice setting and ambience. Tends to have a bit of a wait, from my experience. Worth a visit, have been several times.

We found out that the excellent Carlee had moved from the Loveable Rogue AND they did a roast here, so we had to check it out. We both started with the scallops which were divine! We had one each of the beautiful beef roast and the sea bass and they were excellent, though they both had inexplicable pea shoots on them. I had the sticky toffee sundae which is a treat if you're not stuffed from the previous courses! Lovely and worth the trip out of the city.

Parking is the only issue with this great place to eat. It's also a good event location. There is parking but not so close and other spaces dotted around. Staff friendly and helpful . Food is presented well and reasonably priced at

We had afternoon tea for four. I was very pleasantly surprised, I admit. The food, presentation, and general ambience of the place was very good. The service prompt and timely most of the time, and the cost very reasonable for what we got. I was impressed enough to book dinner.

Food was good but service was quite slow given how quiet the restaurant was. I was also quite underwhelmed by the choices on the large group menu given some of the great sounding dishes on the standard menu.

Visited Sunday lunchtime. The restaurant looked nice. The selection on the menu looked ok but not great. Decided to go for what you would think was a safe bet in fish and chips. Service was pretty slow. When it arrived, it was the worst fish and chips I’ve ever had. Overdone frozen fries, a thimble of pea paste, thin over done piece of fish and half a lime! The other people in our party enjoyed their food and not keen to make a fuss, I endured the fish alone. I went to pay the bill and explained that everyone else was pretty happy but my meal was dreadful and overdone. The plates had been cleared when I returned from the bathroom but at £14 I thought this was worth mentioning! I was told by the manager, ‘well if I can’t see it I don’t know there’s something wrong’ I explained it had been cleared by staff. I enquired why I was given a lime disguised as a lemon for the fish and told that was standard. Manager refused to take it off the bill. I was treating my parents to lunch. They had initially quite liked the look of the place and suggested it would be a nice place to host their 50th wedding celebration. After the shocking customer service on my meal, they decided against that plan. We won’t be back.

Gut gegessen, allerdings ließ die Kräuterbutter auf dem Steak etwas zu wünschen übrig. Auch der kleine Beilagenssalat zwar vielfältig, leider das Dressing für mein Geschmack etwas zu salzig. Aber insgesamt alles okay und durchaus akzeptabel.

Food was good but what really made our visit was the care and attention from the staff. My mum has food intolerance issues and the staff could not have been more helpful. Special mention goes to Jacqueline and her manager who really made sure we had a good evening

Went for an evening meal after a very good lunch experience. However wasn't repeated in the evening when more busy. The order was a little muddled when it arrived. We had repeat dishes as they had been good before. This time they were just average - the care and attention wasn't there. The acoustics when busy also make the restaurant rather loud. It was OK, but didn't encourage us to return a 3rd time.

Food was just okay, had better eleswhere. I ordered the eggs beni. My bacon was undercooked, Wasnt asked how I like my bacon (everyone is different) too much hollandaise sauce my bowl was swimming, muffins were soggy, it was like cutting into a Sponge lol I came back here as many people are raving about how nice it is. Its the 2nd time I have visited after it was all redone. Felt the same as last time. Waited a while. Staff was pleasant, girl who served me, couldn't fault here. The atmosphere is a little weird you feel like you're the only table in the place. Was pretty empty both times we have visted recently.

Having not been in since the takeover from "smiths", all we could say was "wow"! What a difference. Fantastic, fresh food at reasonable prices with attentive staff. Exactly what Kirkintilloch needs, and we look forward to our return.

Went for drinks with the Mrs, staff are really nice, but the service is slow, we used to go alot with friends and now realise why we stopped going and went elsewhere, the cocktails are very pricey and can get the same cocktails just along the road and a good few pound cheaper, we are not miserable and we all have good jobs but in this current climate every pound saved is a bonus especially for other people that can't afford the luxury of having a good drink on a night out, that's the only 2 things to let this place down, overpriced drinks and slow service other than that it's a really nice place.

Had a lovely family meal here. Very busy even at 5.30 on a Saturday. Very nice staff great service and excellent food. Very nice restrooms.

A group of 6 of us stopped here for drinks and snacks. Service was pretty poor, asking for water for the table seemed to be complicated for the staff, finally received it near the end of service. The soup I had was tasty and the prices were reasonable. The serving staff seemed to be lacking anyone giving them direction.

Food is amazing, service is pathetic at best, sat for 30 mins before being offered a drink, dessert was dropped at the table and waited another 15 minutes for a spoon. dinner all in took 2.5 hours for 2 adults and 1 child, at the end of our meal we decided to go up and pay after waiting 25 minutes after we had finished and still no staff around to ask for bill. It’s a pity because the food is amazing, this is the second time we have been and the service hasn’t been good,

Wonderful! We have been here a few times for dinner now and every single time it is great. The atmosphere, the cocktails, the food, everything is spot on. Special shout-out to the staff as well, they couldn’t be more helpful and so friendly. We attended for a special occasion and they really made our whole party feel special. Everyone needs to go here!

The food was good, but the food served to us was a bit slow

A well laid out restaurant. Good food, good wine with a nice ambience. All one could ask for especially for that special evening. Staff was very attentive and made a great evening for us. Pricing of the food and wines was very good. Kudos to you all and thank you.

The Broadcroft is a family favourite. The staff are really friendly and attentive and the food is very good! Some great live music on a Sunday afternoon too.

Immaculately clean and tidy and that old saying "You get what you pay for" is most appropriate to the dishes served. Food is perfect and well worth the cost. Kid friendly and a great menu choice for them. Will definitely be back!

Since the refurbishment of the hotel from Smiths to Broadcroft its like a completely new hotel, amazing food, friendly staff and lovely decor, a must if your in the area.

Great food and excellent service. Staff try very hard to make sure everything is spot on. Live music on Sunday afternoon was a bonus. Food very good standard and well presented.

This is an excellent restaurant that is a real boost to Kirkintilloch. A great Sunday evening was had by all our party. Recetion staff warm , friendly and helpfull. The waiting staff warm , friendly , helpfull and appropriately attentive. The ambiance and decor were luxurious and inviting . One of our party is a former Egon Ronay contributer. He was very impressed and is returning with his friends. The food was outstanding really that good . In all an essential venue

First time in Broadcroft for a meal. Used to frequent when it was Donnellys and then Smiths. Quite a transformation from back then. Lovely meal, very good menu and fairly well priced. We will definitely go back and happy to recommend.

We visited The Broadcroft Hotel for dinner tonight for the first time. When we first arrived, the restaurant was fairly busy but not full. Waiting staff were very attentive and our order was taken. We ordered drinks which arrived quickly. The plan was to have main courses, puddings and coffees. Our mains arrived promptly and the food was delicious. Good sized portions too. All was going well. The restaurant was getting busy now. My partner asked the waitress for another drink. 15mins later, still no drink. We pointed out to the waitress we were still waiting. She apologised, said the bar was very busy and we'd get our drink as soon as they could manage. About 15mins after that the drink arrived. We finished our mains and eventually the waitress removed our plates etc. We thought she'd come back to ask if we wanted to see the sweet menu or maybe wanted coffees, but no. We waited for about 15mins, but nobody came near us. Our impression was, now the restaurant was pretty much full, the staff were struggling to cope. We decided to give sweets and coffee a miss as we felt we'd wait 15mins for the menu, then another 20mins for our sweets, then the same again for coffees. We decided to get the bill instead. After about 10mins trying to catch the attention of staff, many of whom rushed past us without making eye contact, eventually a waitress came over. We asked for the bill. She didn't ask if we wanted sweets or coffees. It was as if she was happy for us to leave so she had less customers to deal with. We paid and left. The decor is lovely, the menu is really good, the staff were polite and the food was delicious. Unfortunately, I think as soon as it got busy, the staff struggled. Disappointing and not sure we'll be back.

On Saturday 24th July 2021 I attended the Broadcroft Hotel, Kirkintilloch. We were a group of 7 from 2 separate households. On arrival our table was not ready so were directed to a table next to the bar to have a drink whilst we waited. We were then lead to our table for our meal to be told at this point 4 people from the party were to go to one table and the other three to a separate table so we would not be seated together. At this point I challenged us being separated and asked why we could not be seated together. I was told due to covid restrictions we were not allowed to sit together. I asked why when we were all just sitting together at the one table having drinks whilst waiting to be seated for our meal. Again I was told due to covid restrictions this was the rules and our group had to be separated. I then asked to speak to the manager as I was not happy about this. I explained the situation to the manager only to be told this is the covid rules in hospitality. I asked why I was not informed of this when I called to make the booking for the manager to say “I’m quite sure you were” in a patronising manner. I told him I was not made aware of this and that had I been told this I would have booked to go elsewhere. I also asked why we were the only group being split up as I could see quite clearly there were other groups of more than 6 people seated together. In all the years I have been going out to restaurants I have never came across a manager with such a poor attitude. He was patronising and insinuated that I was a liar. The manager and their staff should keep policies up to date with the government guidelines as in level 1 hospitality, you are allowed 8 people from 3 households to be seated together and in level 0 you are allowed 10 people from 4 households to be seated together and this is government guidelines. We were left embarrassed in front of other customers and the manager was not helpful in resolving our complaint. Due to the poor management of the situation we left and went elsewhere, were we were seated together as a party of 7 without any issues. If you are a larger party I would avoid dining here as management are not adhering to current guidelines within hospitality and you will most likely be separated. I for one will avoid here in future.

This was the 2nd time I visited in a week, and I was so disappointed. We arrived at 6:55 and it was 7:25 before our food order was taken. It was not particularly busy, maybe 8 or 9 tables with customers. The food itself was ok, but the pate had a slightly sickly taste to it, not as nice as the previous week’s. The Macaroni was not creamy as described in the menu, but quite dry and almost powdery. The duck was nice and so was the beef and veg pie and the lasagne. I ordered another pint of beer and again I waited over 20mins, having to remind the waiter who took the original request. Once we finished the mains, the plates were not cleared until 20-25mins later. When asked for feedback, my wife told the supervisor about our wait to order and he said that was not true, which annoyed us even more. We were lying apparently. In summary, bitterly disappointed with my second visit and even more so, when I had recommended to 6 other people.

The food and service was great. I had my dog with me and they were fantastic with her. That alone would make me visit again. Great food and very pet friendly. 5 stars keep up the good work.

what can i say been back time and again to smiths for food and for drinks never disappoints staff are very friendy and attentive the food is exceptional and very reasonably priced definately rate this place.

After leaving tips for the staff who served me all afternoon I have just been told by a member of staff that management keep all the tips. From now on tips get paid straight to staff in cash

12 of us all varying ages, tastes and dietary requirements had big family catch up dinner. Menu was extensive and food was delicious and well plated..... lots of ooooo’s around the table when food came out ( steak and ale pie looked the business...... but needed just a tad more gravy to be the business) Table faves were: Cullen skink soup Chorizo and haddock cerviche Pan seared salmon Steak n ale pie 💗. But more gravy please 👍🏻 Food was gorge, service was great. ( staff were onit, but not fussing round you). Intuitive staff is what we love , you want your next drink but not someone asking if your table is ok every 2 mins. These guys were intuitive. Puds were yum Creme brûlée: 💗 Cheesecake : 💕💕💕💕💕💕 Ice cream: Too many flavours too consider! Had to ask son if he wanted a straw to finish..... just to stop him rimming the glass. Thanks smith Hotel. We will be back 🍽🍷🍰🥂

We chose to eat here for our Sunday roast with the kids! Food was excellent and the kids portions where homemade and fresh! The manager on the floor ( Jessica ) was very kind and helpful with wine options and gave us a great choice! My kids enjoyed her presence as she laughed and engaged with them which most servers don’t do!

Après deux jours de visites à Glasgow, nous souhaitions rester tranquille le dernier soir, nous avons donc dîner au restaurant de l'hôtel et avons été très agréablement surpris. Bien qu'arrivés à la fin du service, le chef est resté en cuisine pour nous cuisiner quelque chose, et tout était très bon. Big up à notre serveur/receptioniste/barman Mimmo 👍🏻

Stayed in the attached hotel. The food was so good we ate there 3 meals of the day! Was an excellent reliable spot which we used as a base to experience the sight seeing of Glasgow. Would definitely recommend an evening meal with a nice selection of wines with dinner.

The restaurant is situated within Smiths Hotel where we were staying and the fare on offer was of such high quality and value, we eat there 2 out of the 3 nights we were residing. Great range of local produce on the menu & the staff were extremely attentive. Good selection on the wine list with local beers also available.

had been here many times before. Decided to visit as it had been decorated and is in a good location. menu looked good. we asked a staff member to explain what the ragu was like. she recommended it and it sounded lovely. My experience of ragu includes tomatoes. This was basically stew with pasta which was slimey and not appetising. The beef was slow cooked and tender but the dish did not work. There was not a tomato in site. Since I did not eat this I opted for the cheese board which was also inedible, solid and poorly presented. The waitress removed the dishes without comment and I left hungry and disappointed. My other half had fish and chips which he said was okay.

attending a function, from outside looked promising it ended there, unmanned reception had to find someone. When i did find someone was just pointed upstairs, this is when i started thinking eww yuck from min i left reception area to venue halls the carpet was filthy with ingrained patches of dirty, rust from old chairs, food stains, and some black hard stuck on substance every few feet or so. Your guests need to walk through this to your wedding or party!! not good impression! Get into the venue hall, dance floor all scratched from what looked like furniture being dragged over it. where guest were to sit and eat there was they horrid carpet stains again. Broken glass in door panels. house maintenance ob not there strong point. Food was ok quite basic
