Beefeater in Horsham

Bye bye beefeater, we have enjoyed many meals here. Many thanks to Shirley. We did like eating here, but the powers that be sadly closed this restaurant. What a shame.

Went here today for breakfast once again service was great . Have been here about 4 time's in past couple months the staff work very hard and always friendly no matter how busy they are. On this occasion went for breakfast and again the food has always been good quality and served piping hot. They is always a excellent choice of both hot and cold food. The down side is the place internally is shabby but have just found out that this place is closing I can't believe this is going to close have used so many time's over 30 years. Great credit to the staff for keeping the high stand up in these situation

The staff we encountered were friendly and doing their best. No complaints with them at all. Unfortunately a lot of items were unavailable:- No cocktails. No mocktails. No sweet potato fries. Did not have the pudding I wanted. Possibly also other missing items that we didn't ask about... The food tasted good and I would eat it again, but a shame when you can't get things that are advertised on the menu. Another unfortunate issue was that throughout the meal it sounded as if there was a very poorly person in the kitchen. Lots and I mean LOTS of horrendous coughing and choking sounds. Every time it happened the people at other tables looked and pulled faces. I think we were all wondering the same thing... Was that person preparing our food? And coughing all over it?

Very burnt ribs that were barely edible. When I spoke to the waitress she said that’s how they come. Portions were very small. Very slow service. Don’t have half the items on the menu many things we tried to order (mainly drinks) they said they didn’t have.

Worst breakfast ever! Food cold, poached eggs inedible. Service diabolical, one and only waitresses serving had to be searched out to take our order, pulled away from a conversation with friends to take away returned eggs. Immediately went back to her friends and ignored the kitchen’s call for service. In the end I had to collect the eggs myself! Have used this restaurant extensively in the evening but cannot recommend it for breakfast.

Grace our server was amazing.. So friendly, so accommodating and understanding and without prompting brought us a teaspoon for my ASD boy to eat his food. Food was fanatic and dessert was amazing

Went in for continental breakfast this Sunday, greeted by an enthusiastic manager, It was self service and I put some toast in the toaster, there was a pile of clean plates ready for use, unfortunately I struggled to find a plate that was actually clean, they just hadn’t been washed properly, the same went for the coffee cups, my wife had a latte, which turned into a congealed mess as if the milk was off. In the bar area the carpets were badly stained, as were some of the chairs. A few of the chairs were so badly worn that the upholstery was split and the wood was poking through. I really don’t understand how a big national chain doesn’t seem to have any quality control, the state of the place doesn’t seem to encourage return customers. I won’t be going back there.

Lovely roast dinner here. The roast potatoes were nice and crispy, meat tender and tasty and decent portion of tasy veg. Grace served us and was lovely and very attentive. Will eat there again. Can recommend.

Had a meal deal here whilst staying at the premier inn .We enjoyed a very nice Roast beef meal which was all very tasty and finished this off with the ice cream which we shared .Our waitress Grace was lovely and knowing we were sharing our dessert gave us an extra scoop.Wouldnt hesitate to recommend this restaurant and good to go somewhere where the staff really care.

Ate three times this week here due to being away for work. First nights steak was ok, the 2nd and 3rd night had to send steaks back due to being overcooked. Staff seemed unfazed and no compensation or apology offered. Very poor.

I can recommend this place for dinner. They have good staff and food for resonable prices. We spend there nice hours and I'm sure we come there soon.

Given our choice of table which was great waitress was both friendly and helpful and patient with the children. Meal was enjoyed by all. Only Criticism was the length of time it took two & a half hours in all !although they were extremely busy. Really pleased my points were put through As on the last two occasions at Basingstoke and Petersfield they were not! So lost out on freebies.

We regularly eat here when visiting family in the area. I've always enjoyed the food and the staff have always been friendly and hard working. This time I had the steak combo which was a selection of rump , sirloin and fillet cooked to perfection as medium rare. Even got peppercorn sauce , included along with chips , onion rings and mushrooms. It was so filling I was glad I didn't have a starter. The Jack Rabbit red wine was great as well. After plenty of red that was mixed with Rene Artois I felt happy but leathered. The walk home (uphill) seemed to take twice as long as normal ! Can't wait to go back to try the Surf and Turf. Just came in for a quick drink. Was quite in the bar until what seemed to be the manager have a huge shouting match at the girl who was on the bar. Screaming at her to make some drinks, but for people that had not been ID'd. Now I dont know the full story, but what it seems like is that they hadnt been ID'd and the manager just wanted to make money without the care of the law. Will not be coming here again if they server kids alcohol under 18!!!

We arrived at 5 and restaurant was not busy but by 6 it was filling up. We had our drink ordered immediately and arrived promptly. We then had to wait a while before our choice of food was ordered, then much longer for our food to arrive. We had two small children and they were getting very impatient! It was then much longer to wait for our desserts to be ordered and longer still for them to come to our table! My husband dessert was forgotten so we had to remind them about that. We had lovely ladies serving us but on numerous occasions the service is always too slow! We finally left just before 8. Please employ more staff to support the the ones you already have.

Seven family members went to The Station Beefeater to celebrate a birthday. The staff were, as usual, so helpful and welcoming and Grace went out of her way to make sure we had a good time. The food was excellent and we all enjoyed ourselves very much. The manager even went out of his way to cover up a too bright bulb which was glaring in our eyes. Above and beyond indeed !! Arrived a little after 8.30pm and waited what seemed an age for the waiting staff, only to be told that they hacmve decided to start closing the kitchen at 8.45 despite advertising on their website that they are open until 11pm. Avoid.

this hotel does not have a decent place for the elderly or disabled broken chair, no heating lied to about it being fixed had to strip wash in the sink because the shower was not working properly bathroom door was very hard to open.

Been staying in Horsham for a few days and had a couple of disappointing experiences at other establishments so decided to grab a booking at this beefeater. Well from start to finish the staff were professional and attentive, the gentleman in the pink shirt who greeted us was friendly and helpful and made us feel at ease. The bar staff were friendly and humorous! We both ordered the prawn cocktail for the starter and the fillet steak foot our main. Both came out in a timely fashion and were perfect, the steak was beautiful! The atmosphere was just right, restaurant chatter but not too noisey. Will definitely be coming back just to eat here! I think the staff at this beefeater should be praised, from the FOH to the kitchen to the general attitude and friendliness of them :)

Arrived for 2.30 meal to find a sign saying free parking for only three hours for customers stay longer and its £11 although was told that this had not been implemented yet Resturant was under pressure we sat at a table and had to wait whilst five other customers settled there bills or ordered drinks when drinks order was take we were shown to a table starters were excellent although took a while coming main course we had haddock which was good although the chips were luke warm steak was tender but not hot chicken sandwich was lukewarm sweets were superb.I feel that the main problem was that there were not enough staff at the resturaunt.There is a one way ssytem in action so you have to enter from the car park entrance.Drinks cannot be ordered at the bar its table service only at the moment

Well, what can I say...I'm a MASSIVE foodie and this place EXCEEDED my expectations.First off, the main guy that showed us to our table was amazing. His service, his manors, the Guinness he gave us on the house... My family and I felt like the only customers there, wow!He checked up on us the whole time, amazing AMAZING service!!! The food came quick and hot.I had surf and turf - the Prawns were smothered in garlic sauce, the scollops were tender, the calamari didn't have a chewy bit to it, the steak was beautiful no chewy bits and the UNLIMITED triple cooked chips... Yes!!!My family also had the ribs (fell off the bone), fillet was ace, and the burger and onion rings was lovely. We have high expectations of food and this exceeded, well done beefeater!!! ❤️

We had dinner here last night. The first meal out since COVID was a thing. It’s a bit of a different experience to when we’ve been before, but everything was well explained and the measures they have in place shows how seriously this company values its customers and staff. The menu is reduced at the moment, but there is still a good choice and the starters and mains we had were lovely. All the staff we came across were welcoming and our server Freddy, was amazing. First pint in a pub after lockdown and couldn't have felt safer. Walked in and was greeted by Kerrie who took my details and gave me an explanation of how things had changed and the new "rules" . Clear signage and 1 way system was in use and enforced. Bought my pint and headed outside to enjoy the last of the sunshine! Outside was well laid out with where you could and couldn't sit. Had a quick chat with the manager Dan who was, as always, his cheerie self! Big well done to everyone to make sure visitors and staff remained safe without being imposing! Will definitely be back again! Hope to next time take advantage of the 50% offer!!

My husband and I went out for a birthday meal with my sister and 2 friends, we had a very enjoyable time, all the staff were exceptional and explained the new procedures to us. The meal was brilliant and nothing was too much trouble, we will definitely go there againJune

Fantastic measures in place. One way system, track and trace, it’s fantastic. They’ve obviously spent time and effort sorting the training etc. As you can see into the kitchen you can see the chefs are wearing PPE and the communication between the kitchen and staff is the best it has been

Firstly waited over 10 minutes to be seated. I had to walk in to the kitchen to get anyone's attention. The chef was very polite and pointed me to a manager who was hidden in the bar area out of view of reception. The manager was very rude and abruptly told me he was on his own Finally we and the other 2 customers that were waiting were seated. I then ordered as usual and noticed a huge que the coffe machine withba message saying bin full. I took it upon myself to empty it for me and the que of people behind me realising the manager has no or little staff. He then snached the tray that i emptied out of my hand and was very rude again. Management needs re training on basic customer service. Its not hard to thank soneone for waiting and not be rude multiple times. I am the customer?9/3/20 @10am

We went for breakfast on saturday morning, and we were sat straight away and greeted by friendly staff, Ray Dan and Freddie.even tho there was 6 of us our food came out fast and was great! Will definitely return!

We have been here many times and generally they are very good...The food is good with lots of choice. Only negative would be the lack of staff so it can be a bit slow. Great kids menu choices and they do adult meal deals during the week which is great....3 adults and 2 children all ate and drank for £26...bargain...

Our first visit here for years but we'll soon be back. The service was warm, cheerful and very efficient. Ingrid made sure our visit was the best it could be.The plates, as well as the food, were piping hot and well presented. The lamb was cooked to perfection and there was no fat. The selection of veg. was brilliant. The roast potatoes were lovely and crispy. My husband enjoyed his smothered chicken, triple cooked chips and salad and coleslaw. The manager of 18 months has certainly developed a lovely warm environment.

Just come home from the beefeater in Horsham. What can I say the waiter obviously has been trained under Basil Fawlty but that is where the humour stops. During ordering he was rude to my 83 year old mother who luckily didn't notice and called me darling so many times I started to count each time. We ordered scallops to start which were dry and rubbery on a bed of dry mash and a tired piece of bavon which was probably left from breakfast. Back to the inappropriate waiter who put his hand on my husbands shoulder in a conciliatory fashion because he ordered the fish and chips and said it was his punishment. We understand why now beacuse it was disgusting. My roast was ok chicken nice rest of veg seen better days. My mothers calamari looked like they'd been deep fried to an inch of their life if they had ever been alive in the first place. Desserts ok. All in all super disappointing considerably worse than we could have achieved at home. We won't be going back ever. Suggest better staff training and using a bit of imagination in the cooking. I know the majority of it is boil in a bag but surely somewhere some flare or finesse is required. Back to the waiter again just rude my father in law left him a £10 tip beacause I refused. Here's a tip don't work with the general public unless you can be courteous appealing with warmth and approachability and not sexist and undermining to your guests.

Me and my wife visited for valantines day and we had a great meal I had a ribeye steak that was cooked to perfection! All the food was great and the staff were very welcoming and friendly.

We have been going to the Beefeater for quite a while now. And again we had an excellent meal. Our waitress Shirley was very attentive, the Manager o duty made a point of coming over to speak to us. My husband had the large fillet steak and it was cooked to perfection by Stefan the grill manager he also came by and spoke to us. Very good night out.

We have been going to the Beefeater on a regular basis in the last few months and have been extremely happy with everything but we took a party of family on 5 January and it was a disaster really awful, No ribs were available and various other dishes we were not able to order. 2 people ordered the Doom pie which arrived black on the top it had been burnt when heating up and the meat etc on the inside was hard,dry shrivelled up. Vegetables served were cold broccoli peas etc were obviously from lunchtime and were supposed to be re heated. The usual tasty hamburgers were very disappointing . Nothing was well presented, Such a pity.

Beefeater has never been my first choice for meal out but.... coming of the train fancied a fast steak and was greeted at restaurant foyer by a smiling face and the food was good and the service excellent. Great value and friendly service = Happy customer who will return. Sticky Toffee pudding was also yummy!

We first come to the station in horsham on thursday the 9th of january 2020 for my birthday meal and we was dealt with by a man called Johnny who was absolutely amazing and today the 11/01/20 me and my girlfriends thought we would go back after having an amazing first time and again we was served by the same person Jonny as soon as he noticed us came straight over and knew what we had to drink the last time we was there and he also knew what sauce we wanted with out food so I would like to say he is a massive credit to your company and he is amazing and made both our times amazing and he went the extra mile to make sure we was ok both times and to see if we wanted drinks or extras absolutely amazing!!

Ordered a starter but unfortunately it was unavailable. Annoying but hey ho.

Just had the best breakfast with lovely friendly staff at this very well run restaurant. We visited here in October and had a horrible experience but so glad we went back as it has a new team running the restaurant and there’s been a massive improvement. Well done Ray you took on a mammoth task but your getting it right. Keep up the good work.

Had a night out with a large group recently and we had a lovely evening. The food was really good and we were well looked after by the staff. Would definitely eat there again.

Have not been to The Station for a few years and will not be in a hurry to return. We were left waiting at the bar for service for some time. My Dad managed to catch the attention of a member of staff who then disappeared. As we were being served one of the bar men shouted aggressively at another customer who complained that we were all waiting too long. This establishment is definitely a place to avoid!

Didn't even get as far as eating any food...waited 20 mins for a drink (G + T) when it arrived all the tonic had been poured into the Gin and all the ice had melted, no sign of any slice of lemon or lime, asked for a replacement. 10 mins later replacement arrives, this time in a glass with Lippy all round the rim, absolutely disgusting!!

Really nice meal, steak was tasty and the chocolate bombe was really filled. The drink selection was good and music not overpowering. Had a good evening. Will come again.

What a waste of money arrange to meet a family member here, we both made long journeys, well what a waste of money the food was fit for the bin, i was so dissappointed because we were short of time so didnt complain but now wish i had.

The lady who looks after the bar on Monday’s and Wednesday’s brings brightness to an otherwise average experience. Kerry will greet you with a smile, quickly understand your needs and do all she can to ensure you have a pleasant experience while visiting the Station Beefeater. The bar is always attended, clean and tidy, efficient service with a smile and polite conversation. She sets the standards that others should strive to equal, best practice should be looked at to improve the rest of the week’s service.

Had a lovely breakfast this morning, all cooked fresh to order, good to hear communication between the chef and manager.

Really impressed how proactive they are regarding allergies - 2 different ones in our party - staff and management were professional and sensitive. Top marks!

No draft bitter beer. On festive menu not all starters available. Very slow service serving desserts, 20 minutes. Steaks not cooked as requested, slightly over done.

It’s been a while since I’ve been in but needed a convenient location for an early meeting at short notice and wasn’t disappointed. The service was great and the breakfast really good too. Right balance between looking after us and giving us enough space for the meeting. Location is perfect - opposite the train station and also parking nearby. Recommended.

We came here for some steaks, and were happy with the outcome. We had the 8oz rump steaks off the saver menu, and then only £2.79 to add a dessert afterwards. Good value all round. The steaks were of pretty good quality. Drinks as well. We tried to use a 40% off voucher initially, but the complications that arose around them forced us to abandon our original intentions and revert to other choices. I've been here many times and will come back at some point again.

We didn’t know where to go for a family meal that would suit six adults and four children. Although we had never been there before we thought the Beefeater was worth a try and we were not disappointed. There was an excellent choice of food that suited all our varied tastes and it was reasonably priced. It was a busy Sunday lunchtime and the only criticism was the length of time it took to be served. However that was not a real concern and we would certainly go again.

Stayed at the adjacent Premier Inn but due to the bad reviews didn't book any meals here but due to heavy rain we took a chance and went for lunch. The whole place needs a makeover inside and out. Tired and drab. Service was prompt efficient and friendly. There were several meal deals at very reasonable prices on what was a typical chain type menu. My curry was fine a descent portion with all the trimmings and tasty. My wife's chicken was ok a little dry. Overall you got exactly what you paid for.

We booked a Sunday Lunch meal here for a family get together following a wedding. We had about 16 adults and 2 children. When we arrived, the waitress rudely "The kids are your responsibility, you know that don't you" Which I thought was really odd. She started taking drinks orders and as only three of our group were having starters we asked if we could order starters straight away. The waitress said no because she was doing drinks orders. We explained that taking the starter orders would save everyone else having to wait so long for the main course. She refused. The starters came. We had two Camemberts, both of which weren't cooked properly and one was still solid in the middle. They took that one back but with no offer of anything else. When the main courses came out they were cold and disgusting. I ordered the Beef Stroganoff and couldn't believe it when it came out it was three scampi sized portions of beef with a little bit of sauce and chips. Nothing like stroganoff and a very small portion. Some steaks came out and were cold and inedible. The older waitress was completely rude and incompetent and if you ask me is in the wrong job. The chef eventually did come out to speak to one of our group and he did take some of the meals off the bill. Our family meal was ruined with some of the group having to go out and look for some food elsewhere. I will never go there again it was horrendous. To cap it all I have since heard that as my sister-in-law returned her food and then pointed out to the chef that the waitress had been very rude and abrupt they have now banned her from the premises which is disgusting even though I doubt she would ever want to return there. I heard everything she said and she wasn't aggressive or anything but did say to the waitress that her attitude was terrible. Avoid this place like the plague!

Our waitress was really friendly, her name was Shirley (5116) the service was really good and served quickly, the food was nice and hot. We found it very friendly and a happy atmosphere. We really enjoyed our meal.

Visited the beefeater for breakfast in the half term one of many visits Sara was the manager in duty she’s always happy and very helpful,doing a great job considering she was on her own. We love coming to the station such a family atmosphere.

We recently stayed at the Premier Inn next door, so used the Beefeater on and off for a few weeks. The service was always excellent, and I enjoyed the varied menu. There really is something for every one. The manager ran a happy place. Well done.
