Came in Sunday 23/02/2020 And ordered a latte and hot choc, was very quite so expected quick service. A gent came in a few minutes after and ordered a white coffee and bacon roll after us! It looked as if she started making the drinks and doing the bacon roll...we waited a while to then see she made the gent who came after us his bacon roll and coffee before ours, we questioned it but shook it off. The lady then came over with my latte then told us there was no more hot chocolate...so we ordered a tea cake (same price £2.50) to save on the hassle... She then made and brought over the tea cake, and we looked up and hot chocolate powder was on the shelf behind her, we had a giggle at her poor look. She must of noticed because she gave them a shake and left the tubs on the shelf meaning it contained hot choc 😂

We ordered 2 Cappuccinos but they were more like expresso coffee with some over hot nearly boiling milk added. I imagine the staff had not been fully trained. Compared with two other coffee shops that I use one in Launceston and the other in Wadebridge which I would give 10/10 I would probably give Beech Cafe about 1/10. Also the cafe was busy and we waited about 20 to 25 mins for the ‘cappuccinos’ to arrive.

Usually fantastic Sadly today was very poor Took ages Bacon rolls were simply HARD not crispy! I know they only cost £3 but still shouldn’t be horrible Drinks arrived after rolls ? Not sure what problem was there were only 4 other customers seated

Passing through on the way to Tavistock, we popped in for a coffee and a light bite and I was pleasantly surprised. From the outside it seems small with not a huge selection, but sandwich, soups, cream teas and bacon rolls were on offer. I chose the bacon, brie and cranberry sandwich and it was fantastic. I chose to have it toasted which made the Brie nice and creamy. It was big as sandwiches go, and came with a nice little side salad and crisps, all for under a fiver. Will definitely come again.

Después de un paseo fantástico con 6 adultos y 9 niños de 2 a 8 años, tenÃamos bebidas y bocadillos en la cafeterÃa. El personal era servicial y el brownie de chocolate y mantequilla de manà era tan bueno!

Super friendly staff and delicious food options!! Cornish Pasties were lovely, Cream Tea was scrumptious and the selection of cakes were heaven! Absolute great place to refuel after a good walk or activity! Already recommended to other holiday makers nearby! Would definitely visit again!

A group of us popped in today after a walk on the trails. Visiting the cafe was a pleasant way end to our morning. The large glass windows give a good view out across the trees. The decor is simple but comfortable and I liked the fresh flowers on the tables. We received a friendly welcome and there was a nice relaxed atmosphere. I just had a caffe latte, which was very good. The cakes looked very tempting, but I didn't indulge on this occasion. One of our group had a toasted sandwich which came with a salad garnish and crisps which she enjoyed. I will return.

Had a lovely coffee after a fantastic walk along the trails. The homemade brownie was so tasty we went back the following day! Friendly staff and great place to stop. Well behaved dogs even get a biscuit (and can go inside the cafe).

Yes it was just after summer holidays but very little choice available because it was a week day and didn't want to waste it! Soup of the day sign up - but no soup! Ordered a sandwich wasn't very nice. Just really disappointing, promised so much but didn't deliver.

Beautiful walk with the kids, round the trails Rewarded with quite possibly the best cafe latte I've ever drunk. And I've traveled.

Great coffee, pasties and delicious homemade cake. Very friendly staff too. Worth a stop even without doing the tree surfing.

What a wonderful place to return to after exhilarating treetop adventures or a peaceful walk along the Tamar Trails. My wife and I have reached the age when we would rather watch youngsters enjoying zip wires than actually take part ourselves, but the trails have plenty of options, and there is something for everyone to enjoy. And then there is the warm welcome of the Beech Cafe, offering soup, sandwiches, pasties, sausage rolls, bacon butties, scrumptious cakes, cream teas and excellent coffee. For those interested in the rich mining history of the area, there is an interesting display of pictures and videos. In fact, it would be a good idea to visit the cafe before setting out on a walk, so that you know what to look for - and you can pick up a map at the same time.

Have eaten here many times over the past year - always spot on with the food and presentation - smoked salmon and cream cheese sandwich a must. Best cream tea I have had in a very long time and excellent value for money - plenty of clotted cream and local jam, two warmed scones - in the oven, not microwaved so perfect temperature and still soft - hot chocolate is to die for - almost a meal in itself - made from ground Belgian chocolate and can have a mixture to your liking between dark, milk and white. Very dog friendly and muddy boot friendly which is ideal as there are some lovely walks around the trails. Nice cosy sofa area with great cushions made out of Origin Coffee sacks. Amazing variety of coffees on offer - I don't normally do coffee but their latte and capuchino are perfect. Lovely relaxed vibe and a perfect place to start or finish your walk or activity. Staff are very friendly and go out of their way to make you feel at home and welcome. Can sit in or out. Can get very busy especially if the tree surfers are full as it is a popular venue.

Definitely ask for Jake's very special hot chocolate. You need a walk before and probably one after but worth it!! Recomended.

Situated within the entrance to Tamar Trails is this little gem of a cute and cosy cafe where you can refuel before, after or during your activities at the site or of course just call in ! Plenty of seating both inside and out where you can sit and enjoy a cream tea, toastie or delicious home baked cakes washed down with a proper barista coffee, hot chocolate, tea in a tea pot or cold drinks. I had a cappuccino and a cream tea and it was really delicious and helped me recover from Archery, Tree Surfing and the Big Zip. If you wish to keep in contact with the outside world there is free Wi Fi which works well . Recommended.

Very pleasant little, friendly cafe at the start or/and end of the Tamar Trails. Reasonably priced food and drinks. Very family friendly. Might get congested if really busy. You can relax and take your mind of the selfish b.. horseriders who enjoy blocking the carpark with their horseboxes.

Can't believe we haven't been here before. Great coffee and food and very warm welcome from one and all. If you're going to the Tamar Trails it's a must! Even if you're not take the trip from Tavistock or turn off the road to Cornwall via Gunnislake - well worth going out of your way for. It's open all year - great looking home made grub and fabulous coffee.

We decided to eat at the Beech cafe as we had booked for my son and husband to do the Treesurfers junior course which is right next to this cafe.

The Beech Cafe is definitely worth a visit and it's right at the start of the Tamar Trails, so maybe you can plan a walk or cycle ride through the Tamar Trails and finish off with a sandwich or cake and coffee afterwards, then you won't feel so guilty about enjoying the delicious food! The coffee is great as well - strong but not bitter.

Stopped for a quick sarnie as we were passing. Prices were fair all be it a little high but the food was fresh and very tasty so didn't mind paying it. We also had cream tea which was to die for! Did have to pay for parking but then walked the dogs afterwards on the lovely trail.

This is a cafe with good food in a multi-purpose activity centre building, open weekends from mid February and later during school holidays. It is misleading to see it listed under Plymouth because it is in the village area called Gulworthy at this operation called Tamar Trails. It ought to be relisted along with the other Gulworthy business, food and things to do entries under Tavistock.

Unfortunately this restaurant did not live up to expectation. It was very local to us but unfortunate ly we were not tempted to return there. The establishment has now closed and become a private residence.

A special dinner to celebrate 25 years of the village orchard- and the Drake came up trumps as always. Being a non-meat eater, a special fish dish was produced just for me, and it was superb, with sea bream and samphire- absolutely delicious. Full marks to the Drake Manor Inn
