Walked in thanks to a sign on the window advertising coffee and cake for £5. Found the place to be bright, clean and colourful inside. The friendly staff member showed me the options and suggested adding some flavours to the latte I ordered. I tried a Jaffa cake cake in the end also on her suggestion. Lovely visit will come again and recommend!

Interesting menu with tasty salad bowl/platters loaded with tasty ingredients and served with warm seeded ciabatta. Very good coffees and staff willing to make something up specially for my 20 month old to eat. Will try the cakes next time

Went here earlier in the week, as per the other review really disinterested staff, inattentive but that’s irrelevant as within 24 hours of my lunch I had severe food poisoning, likely an E Coli type bug according to my GP. I thought the salad I was served tasted sour and a bit fizzy, really should have taken the hint and left it but had a few mouthfuls and got very, very sick. Just a word of warning, as the only other food I had consumed within the previous 24 hours was two pieces of fruit, toast and bottled water.

As of February 2019, Bedrock is a new addition to Mottingham village, and has only been open for a few weeks. A café which sells organic food, homemade cakes, fair trade coffee and herbal tea is world away from the 'greasy spoon' fry up places, frequented by lorry drivers and chavs. I assume, rightly or wrongly, that Redrock's target audience is middle class, Waitrose shoppers who read the Guardian over a mung bean and couscous wrap while waiting for young Tarquin to finish his cello lesson. The good burghers of SE9 have been waiting for a place like this for years. Unfortunately, I'm not sure that Bedrock will meet their expectations. For a start, the over-familiar staff serving on the day were of the tattooed "I'll be with you in a minute darling" type, who then turned their back on you while they did something far more important than serving you. The food was 'enhanced' by throwing a few rocket leaves on to a plate of otherwise uninspiring food. The wooden tables, all six of them, looked as if they hadn't seen a Black & Decker sander or lick of varnish at any stage of their life, but I suppose it all adds to the rustic look. The two oil drums and the plank of wood outside the premises seemed a bit out of place, even for an 'alternative' café such as this. I really wanted to like this place, I really did, and in fairness my wife loved it, but I couldn't see the attraction myself. As with all new ventures, it might take a while to get it right, and I'm more than prepared to give it another try in a few weeks or months’ time. And I’ll happily give it a better review if it merits one. I can, however, only judge what I experienced on the day, and to be honest, it was a bit of a disappointment. That said, I hope the owner makes a real success of this place, because with a few minor changes, it could be a real winner.

Update: April 2025 Still one of the best Costas you can find anywhere in London IMO. Run really well by the very hard working all female team. Always friendly, happy and welcoming. For me, they make some of the best coffees in the chain and it's kept so well unless most stores. Credit to the entire team there because they're all superstars. I'm always there when i get the chance. A lovely Costa in a great Next store. Staff always friendly and professional and the staff always make a great coffee. One of the better run Costas i feel and do like coming back here when i can. Can get busy but that's expected.

We had an incredible experience here.. the decor, fabulous.. the food, very good. But what set it over the top was the service! James mostly took care of us and was so attentive, he made accommodations for us, closed curtains so our baby wouldn’t get blasted by the sun and we could sit in a nice corner spot, checked on us often (honestly everyone did) it was just lovely. If you are looking for a cheeky afternoon beer and some yummy dishes, stop by and enjoy an afternoon chat with the welcoming staff!

My family went here for a Sunday roast. Four of us had Sunday roast and one had risotto. The pork belly was great, the potatoes out of a packet, the Yorkshire pudding was cold and the risotto was so dry. They got three orders for drinks wrong. Absolutely do not waste your money on this place.
