Bedes Lea in Test Valley

Beer was good. Service was okay. Toilets were revolting. And, just when you think nothing in the world could be worse than the rank stale smell of urine from the toilets, the 'food' turns up, and suddenly the toilets weren't the worst thing known to man..

Much improved lately. Food and drink decent value.

Really happy with our lunch. 8 of us all satisfied. Sunday roasts, kids nuggets, steak and ale pie and desserts: All good. Great food at a good price. Nice play area indoors for the kids. Good selection of beers. Clean toilets. Nice staff. Pool table. Football showing in 1 area, which I appreciated. Doesn't dominate the atmosphere but is availiable for those that want it. Nice beer garden too. Will definitely come again.

My recent visit to The Bedes Lea for Mother's Day lunch proved to be a wonderful experience. The Halloumi "fish" and chips (front) was excellent, the "real" fish and chips was just as good and a proper Sunday roast to top off the selection. Service was friendly and efficient and the pub had a welcoming atmosphere. Our meals arrived promptly, allowing us to enjoy a leisurely lunch without feeling rushed. With its combination of delicious food, excellent service, and swift service, the Bedes Lea is definitely a top choice for a satisfying pub lunch.

Poor Portion Sizes Especially Asking For no salad but this is an Adults meal when I saw it came out I was disappointed about the portion size but it was very nice it could improve with more chicken and more chips not sure if I would order it again 😒 But amazing Raspberry Sodas I would definitely come for drinks

Used this pub over a period of some 40 years. Many landlords many memories. Presently it's in great shape. Good beer, good prices and very smart.

Horrible pub with rude staff, WOULD Rate 0 if was an option. I came here with my 6 year old to get her some food and wasn’t greeted on entry which is fine as I don’t expect every pub too, however when going to The bar I was turnt down and refused food without reason but assuming as I don’t get along with another staff member!! Unprofessional, and a horrible feeling in there! Would never go back and would not reccomend to anyone!

Fantastic service and welcome from Tammy and Phil. Thoroughly enjoyed my meal and drink - particularly the sauerkraut. Worth a stop in for the lively atmosphere and sports as well as food.

Good for a beer at the end of the day

Popped in this afternoon afternoon taking our 5 rear old daughter for a chest X-ray. Restaurant doesn’t start serving until 5. We didn’t realise but the wonderful staff opened the kitchen early for us and the food was excellent. The chicken burger was fantastic. All in all, a very good meal great food and excellent customer service. Looking forward to Sunday roast. Such a lovely place to go.

Food was plentiful and delicious, service was good, order double checked with my group and check back done. Staff polite. Nothing to do with food or service but the conservatory where we were seated was really shabby. Numerous roman blinds were falling off their fixings. All it would take is strong glue and a step ladder to fix as the velcro had come away from the fixings.

Good public house nice locals always happy and friendly. Food is good and the beer is reasonably priced. Big Pub lots of space. Garden has dry areas and outdoor heating which in the winter nights is a must. Good place 5 star from me.

So I'm gonna say this but when I was jn there with a freind for lunch to chill on a hot day and qe had an adult and when we was chilling we got told to go away because "we were to young" there dad was about to come and we told them many times and they refused to listen and when we got the dribk it looked like it wasn't really washed properly and I had cocke it didn't really taste it tasted flat and ot that strong like it is and we were there day before and they didn't care then but then they cared because we didn't look old enough im over the age btw (not saying cause I don't want to)

Staff were fantastic, friendly and professional, the reason for 1 star is that I was disgusted to find out the senior staff, management, keep the staffs tips and don't share them out!!! If you are going to tip, please give cash straight to your server

Moving from Wales to somewhere new was daunting at first. I've always been one to enjoy socialising at a pub and Tammy, Phil and all the staff at the Bedes Lea have made me feel so welcome. From always being greeted with smiles, enjoying amazing food to endless laughter and wonderful themed nights. The Bedes is like no other pub/restaurant I've visited and I cannot wait to bring my family here from Wales when they visit and to also enjoy the next themed night or visit here whichever comes first!

Very stressed and missing staff on our day of visit. Long wait for service and food with not that many customers. Staff did their best in the circumstances and food was good when it came. Assumed to be a bad day for staff and customers but we will return. Covid outside service didn't help the situation.

It's a far out and groovy place

It is a nice venue to enjoy a lovely afternoon tea with a friend or as a family. The place was spacious with lots of seats to keep social distancing on place. I appreciated the friendliness of staff during the service as they were very helpful in choosing the beverages.

Food okay, but the staff didn't know their menus, and the service was slow although we were the only people in the place. Our food came separately, with my friend's meal arriving 15 minutes after mine - with no apology.

Nice local pub, the car parking was limited and being shared with local residents and a shopping parade. The pub is open plan, with many traditional pub games

First time going there since the change of ownership and refit still as good if not better than before really enjoyed my couple of hours there, and made some friends who I intended to help with charity events in the near future

Recently refurbished and very nice decor. Food not exceptional. Fish finger sandwich came with no butter, because I asked for tartar not to be put in sandwich so obviously butter is not the norm. Beer expensive.

Called in tuesday evening for a meal, unfortunately, despite advertising food served 6pm till 9pm. No food was available at all!☹ so went elsewhere. Will not be going back.

Large pub, plenty of activities. Good food. Nice children's play area inside and outside as well.

Visited the pub last week to meet with friends, only to find that £50 has been fraudulently taken from my bank account in addition to the payment I made for my pint. Tried to call them tonight but the number published "has not been recognised". Seriously disappointed and I will be taking this further.

Sticky floor, tables and chairs, the service was abismall!! Staff were rude, doesn't cost much to have manners.

Went to the Bede's Lea this afternoon with my husband. We both ordered the lasagne, which came with garlic bread. Ordered extra portion of chips on the side. Both of our lasagnes were stone cold in the middle. My husband complained to the manager who promptly took our lasagnes away. We were told he would bring us new and therefore hot lasagnes. Unfortunately we weren't offered for the rest of our food to be replaced. So by the time we received new, hot lasagnes the rest of our meal had gone cold. The manager was far too preoccupied with a party of footballers for whom he was obviously being paid a premium to cater for. We were barely offered an apology for the fact that out food had been served cold. As I am a local and regular customer I was extremely disappointed and if it hadn't have been for the very nice and slightly embarrassed waitress (who's name I don't know, but who's accent was northern, quite possibly geordie,) who apologised profusely for the poor service I wouldnt even have given a one star rating.

One minute steak and half rack of ribs ordered:, the steak was chewie and we'll done which left me wondering why it was even named one minute steak, ribs where under cooked and did not fall of the bone as they should if slow cooked, smothered in a tangy nasty BBQ sauce instead of sweat and smokey. The meat was also cold and chips extremely hot, lack of timing with the cooking times!, The man with the blue hair brought food to the table but I also noticed he had a roll up ciggarate in his hand, not really sure why. On the other hand my wife said her halloumi burger was nice.

Amazing! Food was brilliant and chef was very friendly and made a fuss of our little daughter. Nice decor and lots of things for the kids. Will be back soon.
