The landlady and staff at this pub all seem to care deeply about their customers, the drinks they offer, the town of Glastonbury and their welcome. My own choice of tipple, Stag, is easily the best pint I have ever enjoyed. This is a BIG old pub! There are two large bars, a snug and a huge beer garden where we spent a very enjoyable few hours. When we went there was only one member of the bar staff working. But a couple of minutes out of our lives is pretty negligible, especially considering what we were waiting for (Stag!) And there is even a little notice in the carriage bar requesting a little patience. If visitors expect instant service of substandard, homogenous products at a Poundland price, might I suggest they pop into a 'Spoons rather than a family-run community pub?

came here for a Friend's Wedding Reception. The garden was a pretty pleasant place to be able to talk to the other guests whilst eating food the bride & groom brought/made & drinking some of the cider, soft drinks or whatever the guests chose from the selection they had

Very disappointed. Drinks were fine, we ordered one lager and one cider. The woman who served us was unfriendly and rude. She poured one of our drinks and then left to deal with someone else. When she came back she pulled the other pint without a word, let alone a smile! I tried to make conversation but she just ignored me,"awkward." We sat in the garden, which was pleasant. Toilets had no hot water to wash hands and was not very clean.

We popped into this pub after The Frost Fayre. My word it has gone downhill since we were there last, a few years ago. The place was grubby, dirty and had an overwhelming sense that the management had given up on it. The Landlady was ensconced in her own snug with a few friends, not welcoming or at all cheerful. The bar staff seemed rather put out by us disturbing them when we asked to buy a drink. I hear the brewery are looking to close it down. That would be a blessing. Give it a refurb and a manager who wants to make it a success.

A surprising place! It was raining hard when we got off the bus, so went into the first pub we saw. Almost a throwback to the 1970's with its separate little bars. Excellent choice of beer and cider. We chose the latter, would be rude not to when in Somerset. Very quiet at lunchtime but we were well looked after. Doesn't do food, signs say to bring your own if you wish.

A Real Pub. Have been coming here since the mid 80’s. It’s not glitzy. It’s not posh. But it’s clean. Friendly if you make an effort to smile, you will be rewarded with a relaxing drink with the locals. Usually 2 real ales and a plethora of ciders from the district. Beer garden is a magical spot away from the hum drum of the high street. If I lived in Glastonbury this would be my local

The Beckets is not a restaurant, although they do offer pizzas from the kitchen on Friday evenings. It is a pub which keeps up the near-extinct custom of welcoming drinkers bringing take-away meals with them (and provides plates, cultlery, etc, as well). Given the limited range and high prices for eating out in Glastonbury in the evening, especially with a vegan and a real cider drinker in the party, being able to take advantage of the wider range of take-aways available and still eat and drink in comfort is very useful. The Beckets offers Old Rosie cider and varied real ales. Following the recent sad death of Buster, the spaniel who lived here for the past 15 years, well-behaved dogs are now allowed in the pub.

Lived in Glasto for almost 2 yrs now and only started going to the Becketts after the cash only + the no-dogs signs were removed. Absolutely great pub with friendly service and great atmosphere. A new favourite… one that will be happily recommending in the future

The atmosphere can best be described as mouldy, the place smells revolting, the staff unfriendly and the decorations reminiscent of a 1980's pub. Even the lager was undrinkable, whilst the cider warm and unpalatable. It needs a deep clean top to bottom before I'd think about returning. The one cubicle in the gents was broken and taped off with warning sign from the management that anyone caught trying to use it would be barred from the premises. There are other hostelries in Glastonbury, this one is possibly the worst.

We’ve been here a few times over the years - there’s always a friendly welcome, and the kids love sitting in the beautiful gardens. Being able to bring your own food in is a huge bonus and saves a fortune when you have 3 kids! Today was especially lovely as the trees provided welcome shade for us, and a group of D&D adventurers playing on the next table 😊😊

Myself and my partner went here for a meal under the new Covid restrictions and were very disappointed. No alcohol until our meal was on the table so we waited twiddling our thumbs for the best part of half hour until our meals were served. They then they couldn't take our plates away quick enough to prevent us from ordering another drink as if we was some kind of hindrance. I had a glass of wine and my partner had a coffee with a shot of Tia Maria, not as if we were getting plastered. Needless to say I won't be going back! The next pub we go to, if they have restrictions like this I will walk straight back out the door, Absolutely ridiculous!! Thanks Boris !!!!

Stopped here for a quick pint with our cycles which the Landlady let us take through the pub to the garden. We sat at the very end of the peaceful garden and enjoyed the sunshine with a tasty drop of Old Rosie. The landlady was very friendly and welcoming to us and although no food is served, you can bring your own to eat with your drink, which seems pretty fair. A lovely place to escape the crowds.

I popped in here for a pint after visiting Glastonbury. What a terrible disappointment! You cannot approach the bar as this is roped off like a crime scene - I think friendliness and hospitality were the murder victims! Any attempt to excuse this ludicrous arrangement as a health and safety response to Covid19 is negated by the fact that card payments were *not* accepted, and only cash could be used - the least safe and healthy payment method! If the landlady was really so incredibly concerned about the virus she could have erected a plastic screen, or worn a mask. Instead she merely created an inconvenient and unfriendly customer exclusion area which served no useful function at all. While the beer was perfectly good (though the selection was limited), and the garden is decent enough, the inside furniture and decor is extremely dated and tatty. Further unfriendliness is experienced if you try to sit at the rear of the pub, as the doleful landlady is quick to tell you that this is apparently a private bar. Customers are not welcome here either! The outside toilet is also rather scruffy, with a rude notice on the wall. With a redecoration and a more friendly staff this could be a nice old pub. Instead, the way it is now, I will certainly not be returning. I'm not surprised that, at the time of my visit, there was only one other chap there!

We absolutely love this place. A little gem. The kind of place that’s hard to find. Quaint, original, historic place with a landlady who’s very charitable and an asset to the local community. Definitely worth a walk further up the Main Street. A consistently good pint of ale. No fresh food available but you’re welcome to bring your own food, or even have it delivered from the local Indian restaurant etc. What more could you want. Bring your friends and have a feast with your favourite foods and favourite tipple available at the bar. Everyone’s happy. Do it, you’ll love it. Then share the idea with your friends. We really need to keep places like this.

In a world where pubs have become uniform, soul-less play areas for kids, with the same menu for every pub, this is the last good old fashioned British Pub.Visiting family, we were introduced to this hidden gem on Glastonbury High Street and immediately felt as though we had stepped back into my childhood which was spent sat in the lounge with my parents. Buster, the pub dog came and greeted me, inspecting me for treats before assuring himself I was clean and the lovely server asked me what I wanted to drink. The jukebox was playing some fantastic music, the mood was brilliant and there was a sense of being comfortably welcomed in. The ales on tap are served cold and perfectly poured, a good selection of bar snacks, and no shortage of people to chat to and pass the time of day, you leave feeling as though you have a new local even though you may just be a passing visitor. It may not be to everyones standards, if they're searching for a gastro pub, or somewhere to sample the local delicacies, but to us, it was somewhere we'll be heading back to time and time again.

The Becket is an old fashioned pub - it's not glamorous, it's not a Sports Bar or a Gin palace or even a modern pub. It doesn't do food but it does some good cider and good ale and allows people to bring their own food to eat - which in these times of austerity is pretty good. The garden is nice and the back gate leads on to the car park behind the High Street.

Called in for ‘one for the road’ and was served blackthorn cider which tasted like it had been pulled through dirty pipes. When I politely told the bar lady it did not taste right, she was in complete denial, she had been ‘drinking it herself and it was fine’ - the owner who was sat at the bar told me it was ‘old recipe’ blackthorn (no wonder they reinvented it then — who are they trying to kid? It was dirty, that’s all) I told them I’d just leave it. I received dirty looks thereafter and my brothers Carling was also dodgy (you know that strange caramel smell and flavour when lager is off?). Pool table was a state, generally a scruffy place which needs a big refurbishment. On the plus side, My mum and aunt enjoyed their coffees though we will not be calling in again under current management.

Was really excited to try out this restaurant. Had read the media coverage and have tremendous respect for the owners. It was busy, nice weather had brought the crowds out to the outside dining area. It seems impossible to get good service these days, when you do it is rare. Has eveyone good left the industry post covid... There were plenty of staff on the floor, but systems and training were clearly lacking, and the basic good standards sadly lacking. As soon as we walked in lack of a clear greeting was a sign of what was to come. We ended up waiting far too long for our mains to arrive. Other tables also complaining and warning us about the lack of service. The place itself is beautifully & tastefully done. The menu reads incredibly well. The food did not disappoint. I sat eating the Fish Soup, trying to recall a better soup that I had ever eaten. This, I have to say was the best, absolutely incredible. The rest of the dishes were well cooked, and good, but nothing knock out. Rarely give reviews, but the lack of service was a big issue. One guy seemed to be more senior, but he was way out of his depth. Not even a goodbye as we left despite making eye contact with the Manager and floor staff! Would not recommend until the service is sorted out.

Lovely breakfast options, great tea and coffee, but all spoilt by the most miserable, unfriendly staff member serving, I've ever had the misfortune to be served by. It wasn't just us either, she was like it with everyone. It made us laugh to read the poster in store (shown). the secret is apparently " real smiles..... friendly banter..... " Not on a Monday morning apparently. I know it's probably a thankless task, I get that, but isn't customer service and a smile part of that job? We went into Clarks village and every other shop worker, bar none, gave us a friendly greeting and a smile. I hope she's OK, I recommend meditating first thing to help with stress. Update: I'm assuming that your response to my review is sarcasm, otherwise you really are clueless and your claims to value customer service are simply talk.
