We visited several times earlier in the month. The first one was by chance; subsequent ones were not!We were impressed by the seriousness with which they took Covid restrictions, both among staff and with customers. We also found staff to be friendly and helpful – including trying to help with my wife’s dietary constraints.Thoroughly recommended.

Sidmouth has a plethora of lovely looking cafes and this one had space so in we came . Excellent choice ! Plenty of space between customers ( Who would have imagined one year ago how important that would be ! ) Very nice smiling behind their masks staff ! ( you can tell !! ) Excellent flat whites .. the most fabulous crab sandwich!!! And a pistachio orange flap jack ...To be a bit cheeky , I hope the beautiful young lady with the baby bump has a baby as gorgeous as she is !Thank you Becketts ! We will return ! We called in here after searching round Sidmouth for somewhere for a sandwich. Well impressed with the cleanliness, the friendly,fast service and the food was really delicious! I had a really tasty pasty with salad and crisp garnish which I thought was a nice addition. My husband enjoyed his tuna sandwich also. Will definitely go in again when we next visit Sidmouth.

We wanted a simple sandwich-level meal at lunchtime, and that's exactly what we got. Portions plentiful, nicely served.

Had lunch here having walked around Sidmouth. Excellent Covid awareness, great food and lovely people. Food was terrific- best crab sandwiches! Highly recommend!

Brilliant place for coffee and sandwich. Lovely tuna sandwich served on the best bread we have had for a long time. Food and drink were brought swiftly to our table despite it being busy and service was friendly and welcoming. We also liked the booth seating at the back. Top marks well deserved.

A great find for us in Sidmouth High Street. 4 hungry motorcyclists wanting coffee and a bite to eat. Easy parking. Lots of choice. Coffee was amazing. Food was very very nice. Customer service was spot on. We will be back next time we are in the area.

We visited here for Lunch. They were very accommodating of our disabled party members.We all had soup and a drink. 2 had Tomato and Basil, an 2 of us Parsnip and Apple.We also had tea, coffee and Strawberry and Banana Smoothies both food and drinks were delicious.Th

We had lunch with friends and had the wonderful dressed crab sandwiches followed by a delicious afternoon tea. Staff were very friendly and service was very good. Would definitely recommend.

Very impressed as on our arrival the shop was full however the lady took our number and said she would call as soon as she had a table for us. She called us within a few minutes and we had a very enjoyable light lunch with a fabulous chocolate waffle. Most enjoyable, excellent value for money and exceptional customer service.

Great young girls / staff a real asset to Becketts. Bacon very fatty. Wraps and panini nice. Nothing special may try somewhere else next time. Must say good Covid measures in place and ample space.

A great coffee shop. We stopped here for lunch one day and enjoyed a great range of sandwiches. Not everything was available owing to difficulty getting supplies. In particular the local crab was unavailable on the day we went as the local fishermen had been unable to get out to sea, but the staff were friendly, the food was good and we definitely came away feeling like the meal was value for money.

We popped into Becketts for a coffee and a sandwich. The cafe looks inviting from the outside but is a bit disappointing inside, looks quite plasticky and dated. The service was very good, coffee was ok and the sandwich was fine - just cheese and pickle, no real attempt to make it anything special.No complaints, just average.

Pleasant enough service and coivd measures in place. Food on the other hand...Like eating rubber boots with a bucket full of coleslaw on the side. Crisps seemed a bit stale and think the salad dressing lid may have come off when pouring on the plate as it was drenched. Walked away feeling a bit let down.

We came here for a last cream tea and found a full gluten free menu including pasties! A real find for a Coeliac like me. We will be back! The Staff are very friendly and welcoming, thank you. The cream tea was divine and the sausage/bacon sandwiches I am told were delicious!! A real find.

I only used Becketts for a crab sandwich to take-away. I was attracted by a board outside advertising local crab. It was absolutely beautiful and far exceeded my expectations of a humble sandwich! The bread was thick, top-quality, granary bread from a local baker. The crab filling was delicious. Very deeply filled and the perfect balance of brown and white meat. It wasn’t cheap (£7.50) but the freshness and quality of the sandwich was worth it.The shop was as safe as could be from a Covid-19 perspective with clearly marked distancing zones, and pse used by staff. It was just a shame that I only found them on my last day of our mini-holiday. But if I’m in Sidmouth again I’d definitely use them again.

On a two night stay in Sidmouth, we had a lunchtime snack both days, we returned because it was very clean, friendly staff, and enjoyed what we had. We commented that it was nice to sit somewhere without background music, we could chat in comfort. It is a more "snack" type of menu, but nothing wrong with that better to provide a slightly limited range but prepared well, than attempt more and be mediocre, and possibly their preparation area is of limited capacity.

Found this lovely eatery today on a day trip to Sidmouth. Cannot believe all the negative reviews. Very wide menu choice at reasonable prices. Three of us each had homity pie, pasty dish and quiche, all with salad and trimmings. All hot and tasty and served quickly considering it was lunchtime. Plus, we had change from 20 pounds.

Attractive from the outside among a choice of many cafes in Sidmouth. On a cold March day Beckets looked inviting and our welcome was warm and friendly. Even better, a choice of three soups...most places offer a soup of the day and that's it. Ours was truly delicious home made soup, really well presented, as was my partner's cheese scone and pickle. Service was prompt nd friendly. Very good value for money.

Crab sandwich quite good but pasty lunch awful. Soggy pastry. No atmosphere here. Would not rush back.

Lovely little cafe selling all your Devon favoutites - pasties, cream teas etc. I had the local fresh crab sandwich - lovely. The therme all around the town is everything possible is sourced locally.

Very limited choice, we had scrambled egg and bacon with toast, toast was good, bacon ok, egg was dry, guess they don’t use milk or butter in its making, will not visit again

Very quiet, no background music. Feels like you have to be on your best behaviour. Good basic choice menu with gluten free options running throughout the menu. Staff young, service slow. Seems like it happens when they feel like it. Food was slow to come out land our table was drip fed one meal at a time, first two of us had finished before the next person got their meal and there was six of us , burnt toast and a forgotten order .

Whenever we went to Sidmouth we often stopped here for a cup of tea and sandwich but this lovely coffee shop has changed ownership several times and has slowly gone downhill. Whilst having family to stay just after Christmas we decided to get a cream tea and hoped it had changed for the better . The food was nice but our guests decided on a sandwich and we were sat waiting for 40 minutes, we had a 7 year old with us and was getting very upset at having to wait so long. Sorry to say don’t think we will return.

We were in Sidmouth last week and decided to have a drink stop in Becketts.Walking through the door we noticed that there were chairs put up on most of the tables....are you still open we asked...slight hesitation before a yes reply but the look on the young mans face told us that he wished otherwise.We asked what time they closed and were told in 40 mins time...he made no attempt to show us a table and was hoping we would turn round and walk away...which we did.Surely customers are welcome in December as well as July....not sure this is the case here.Avoid this unwelcoming place.

Popped in here on a day trip to Sidmouth and would definitely return if in the area.....we were welcomed as soon as we walked in ....given time to settle before ordering, staff were all lovely .....it’s is beautifully set out with little seating areas so you don’t feel like you’re on top of each other....clean toilets with a lovely touch of an emergency bag on the back of the door for mums with small children in case of accidents....very thoughtful .......and the coffee was great too!!!

We called in here for a light lunch. The menu had plenty to choose from and the food was very good and well presented. The pot of tea had a good taste, with water supplied to top up the pot. All the staff were pleasant, polite and attentive. Also the toilets were clean, which says to me a lot about the overall hygiene. Will visit again when in Sidmouth.

A very cold November day - having looked at various options for a snack, happily for us we chose Beckett’s. A good variety of reasonably priced and very tasty snacks, good service, clean, warm and comfortable. Wish we lived nearer!

Fast, friendly efficient service and eminently reasonable prices. I liked the blackboard outside advertising crab so local it could have walked there. Clean and comfortable. I would happily return.

My husband and I had coffee here today. A young man called David showed us to a seat and took our order. Our coffees were superbly delivered to us and a few minutes later, David came back to ask us if everything was ok. Talk about service. This coffee shop deserves five stars for customer care. Well done.

Well we had a lovely lunch today at this cafe in Sidmouth. The staff are absolutely on the ball with polite discrete and efficient service. The Brie and bacon toastie was delicious and the ‘Jaffa style’ cake a super treat. It’s a modern decor light bright clean spacious cafe which is a relaxing and a pleasant environment to enjoy lunch. But it is the staff who make this a lovely place to eat, have a pot of tea or coffee. Will definitely go back

Had toasted sandwiches and tea at lunch time. The toasties were excellent and very full. Service was very good. Despite being on Sidmouth High St it was relatively quiet with ample seating at lunchtime. One extremely add on was that in the loos, there is a bag that says "we know accidents can happen, please use any of the contents of this bag" . There was indeed useful items to wipe, sponge, replace bits of clothing. Never seen that anywhere before !

…with crab so obviously fresh and local that it could - as the sign outside says - “have walked here”. Becketts is a popular, bright, smart coffee house with young staff and a welcome to match. We will be back.

I am really cross that I only discovered this cafe on our way back home from our holiday!

Had a lovely lunch here yesterday with my parents. Lots of room inside.The service was wonderful, from happy cheerful staff especially a young lady Rosie . The food was delicious,with a great choice. We had Goats Cheese and Oinion Tart with Salad, as well as a Pasty and Salad. We all then had a wonderful slice of cake after.. We will definitely be returning.

We visited Beckett Coffee house late in the day on an over cast a a bit of a wet afternoon. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. My parents were after the apple crumble but sadly sold, but you had the alternative of apple and rhubarb, so that was good, and it came with oodles of custard. My husband and I had scones, jam and cream. The scone was nicely warm but not hot, perfect. All served my very friendly staff. The loos were Lovely and clean and was the coffee house even though it had been open for business all day. Charlie was especially helpful and chatty , although to be fair so was everyone else, she just happened to give us here name when I mentioned that I was a Trip-adviser holic.

Not the first time that we’ve been into this coffee shop when we’ve visited Sidmouth! Friendly staff, very clean and comfortable surroundings and lovely food at a good price - highly recommended 👍

A Homity pie and salad is a favoutite of mine here, (last 3 years) & nice coffee. A disappointment was the lack of crab on Friday late afternoon, but the prawn sandwich sufficed, though the prawns were only just thawed out!

I and my cousin had lunch here each day during our holiday, because we were welcomed back like old friends, and every effort was made to satisfy our particular needs. The team are so friendly and warm, it felt like a home from home. It is beautifully kept, bright and tastefully decorated. The food is cooked to order and of excellent quality.

Nothing was too much trouble for our waitress Charlie. She made us feel so welcome. The prices and the food was excellent. Will certainly be visiting again.

We had lunch while on holiday in Sidmouth. I am a Coeliac and it was lovely to have quiche which is not often on the menu. The portion sizes were not large but ideal for lunch.

Visited this lovely Coffee shop on a recent visit to Sidmouth with family. It was a rainy Sunday and we were looking for somewhere that was open on a Sunday and already had good reviews on Tripadvisor! Becketts Coffee House certainly fitted the bill! The staff were very friendly, welcoming and helpful! We all chose various sandwich options and each serving came with a small side salad and crisps. My husband and I also decided to have 2 afternoon tea scones..which came with an extremely generous portion of jam and clotted cream and a coffee. All in all a very delicious lunch and intend to visit this lovely coffee shop again soon!

Good food, at a fair price. Well presented, by friendly staff. Couldn't ask for more. And a few more characters to make up the minimum 100.

I always visit Becketts when in Sidmouth seeing friends and can’t recommend the place highly enough. The menu has plenty of choice and the food is fresh and delicious. I can also recommend the takeaway option for a trip to the beach!

This is now our second visit this year, food is great, and staff are friendly and helpful, But what most impressed us is it was only our second visit and the staff remembered our names!

I don't understand why cafes don't employ more mature staff, I want to thank David for his attentive and jovial service; shame the youngsters haven't taken on board any of his attributes!

we have visited here on several occasions and have always been welcomed with a friendly smile. The food is delicious, whether it's savoury or sweet. The sandwiches are freshly made with plenty of filling as are the jacket potatoes. There is always a homemade quiche or two to choose from as well. There are many more choices on the menu, all equally delicious. As for the homemade cakes, well, you just have to try them. The service is spot on, not too rushed, and not hurried when you have finished.

I fancied a crab sandwich and noticed a bill board on the pavement advertising crab so went in. It was noticeable how well trained and pleasant the staff were. Tables were cleared properly with a tray, tables wiped down properly. Great service with a smile. I had a pot of tea and a crab sandwich on granary, which was well filled with a mixture of brown and white crab meat, and came with some good crisps and a little side salad with dressing. My one criticism would be that the granary bread crusts were very crisp and hard to chew into. But the bread was excellent. The pot of tea came with a jug of hot water. I do hate it when served a mug of hot water and a tea bag. Every cafe should be able to produce a pot plus hot water! A very pleasant experience and very reasonably priced. Just sad I didn't have room for one of their delicious looking cherry shortbreads!

Love the atmosphere in this coffee shop in Sidmouth. Very friendly staff and it's a pleasure to talk to David and have a joke with him.Lovely hot chocolate!

We have had lunch at Becketts on two previous occasions and been really happy with the food and service. We were expecting the same today but were disappointed with the service. As soon as we arrived we were offered menus which were quickly brought to our table. There were only two other tables occupied and both had already given their orders. After choosing from the menu we waited for the waitress to take our order. We continued to wait............we waited while she chatted to someone seated at the end of the counter. We waited while she leant on the counter and chatted some more. I suggested to my partner we should go up to the counter to give our order but he said he would rather leave so we did. As we walked towards the door the waitress called after us " Thank you" !!

We have been past this coffee house many times on visits to Sidmouth but Saturday was our first visit. It’s a shame we left it so long!

We popped in for a quick bite to eat. Me and my daughter are dairy free. They were able to accommodate us really well. Lovely homemade soup and sandwiches. Attentive customer service and a very relaxed atmosphere. Very clean toilets too!

David our waiter was very attentive and made our group of eleven senior citizens very welcome. The lunch time menu was very varied and the quality was excellent value for money. Well done Becketts and David.

We arrived in Sidmouth last Saturday morning (it’s a place both my friend and I fine very relaxing) the weather was good and after a bit of retail therapy we thought it would be nice to have a coffee and as it was nearing lunchtime perhaps a bite to eat! So we found Beckett’s it was very welcoming,clean and comfortable after a couple vacated the sofa in the front of the window we decided that would be a nice place to sit. A very cheery gentleman came up to us and asked if we were ready to order? My friend had decided that she wanted a bacon sandwich and a pot of tea I decided on a panni toasted with Brie and Cranberry and a latte coffee it was really nice and very well presented and the price was good! My friend enjoyed her bacon sandwich and said the the bread was really fresh and the bacon was delicious. The service was good and friendly. Would we go there again most certainly

We both had jacket potatoes, one with prawns and one with cheese and coleslaw. Both were beautiful and the chocolate and mint cake was heavenly.....a lovely quiet and relaxing cafe

Travelled from Torquay, for a day out. The weather was cold and misty, we needed something warm and tasty to improve our day, found Becketts... well what a delight, warm inside, beautifully clean, full of happy customer faces and the smell of good food. The soup of the day, mushroom, was full of them, tasty and hot, served in quaint little loaded soup bowls. Delicious granary bread with butter, and the coffee was first class. To make the visit even better were the 2 counter staff, they were attentive, polite, chèerful and friendly. We had a wonderful lunch, thank you all for making a miserable dreary day into a delightful visit.

We have returned to Becketts when in Sidmouth over many years now. The staff are helpful and friendly, the coffee, soup, sandwiches etc are very good. We will go back!

We visited for coffee one Saturday morning - there weren't many people in the cafe, it was uncomfortably silent to the point where you could quite clearly hear the staff out the back moaning about the 'wet smelly dogs' they just allowed in, which was rather cringe worthy when the dog owners could obviously hear these comments.

1st class service with 1st class food, very helpful and friendly, very quick and lovely comfortable surroundings

On our first visit to Sidmouth we were pondering on where to go for lunch. The homely decor of Becketts immediately drew us in from the cold. We received a warm welcome and were helped with a wheel chair. The menus came immediately and we were talked through the options. We absolutely cannot fault any of the food we got as it was all delicious. Not only will we be returning very soon for the gorgeous staff but also for the faultless food. Well done becketts on making our visit one to remember.

Had lunch here during October half term. The waitress was friendly and attentive and food arrived quickly. The coleslaw was horrid (like a supermarket economy version) and the salad past it's best. Very disappointing.

We popped in here after walking past and finding ourselves peckish. It’s a charming cafe with a friendly welcome. There appeared to be lots of locals about which is always a good sign.

Having a desire for crab sandwich Becketts came up trumps. A very large sandwich on granary with lashings of fresh crab. Very reasonable price and excellent sarnie.

We had a nice relaxing lunch here. The food was good quality and quickly served. Just what you want to rest your wallet from all that shopping.

While shopping in sidmouth with my boyfriend and family, we soon found becketts! The service and decor was welcoming and we were seated immediately. My father asked for help on what was the best dish to order and he was quickly answered with “Our amazing fresh crab sandwich”, which was absolutely delicious! They also had a huge range of gluten free which was a main reason becketts appealed to us in the first place! My boyfriend ordered the gluten free goats cheese tart and a gluten free chocolate and mint cake for after, which we have never seen anywhere else and I had an amazing brie and bacon quiche which was made by the owner. We couldn’t find any fault with the food, service or choice and will be returning very soon! Definitely recommend this place if you want a lovely lunch for an affordable price!

We took our seats then within 5 minutes our order was taken and we were eating. We had cream tea. All produce was fresh and the scones were amazing. Very clean and tidy. A must when visiting Sidmouth

Went to Sidmouth on the day the Red Arrows were performing so the town was extremely busy, dispite this the staff were all very friendly and food was prepared and served very quickly. The variety of cakes was excellent and so was the taste. I had a crab sandwich for lunch and the sandwich was full of crab and the bread was lovely and soft (being a bit picky I would have like a little more white crab meat but that is a personal preference and is not the fault of the staff).

We visited on a dreadfully hot day early August. Despite being busy the staff were very friendly and service prompt. Food was enjoyable and delivered quickly.

Bright, clean premises, warm atmosphere and helpful accommodating staff. Owner goes out of her way to cater for those in need of a dairy/gluten free diet. A pleasure to visit for drinks, snacks and light meals.

We had a lunch at Becketts. They have a FANTASTIC range for gluten free - both savoury and sweet options. We had a toasted sandwich and a crab sandwich - great food, presentation and the portions are big. They had a huge selection of hot and cold drinks - lots of milkshakes. All the staff were very cheerful and friendly. We will definitely visit again if we are in Sidmouth. Would definitely recommend.

Visited here while staying in Sidmouth and was really impressed! It's usually really difficult to eat out as I have to avoid both gluten and lactose but the staff were so welcoming and friendly and were really quick to show a range of things I could eat! I had the chocolate fudge cake and it was delicious! We will definitely visit again the next time we are in Sidmouth.

Having completed a long walk around town we fancied the usual drink and cake. Well coffees & scones were ordered & we were not disappointed.The staff were very cheerful & efficient. But in addition they engaged with us as tourists on a very personal level. We felt our having a pleasant holiday to their town, meant something to them. Wonderful.

Had morning coffee at this lovely little restaurant on two occasions. On first visit we witnessed a very tricky customer being dealt with politely and with great patience on the part of the waiting staff - unfortunately I didn't get their names but I did commend the young lady when I was leaving. She was exceptionally polite to this woman and deserved a commendation so I regret not getting her name but hopefully she'll know who she is. Although we didn't have main meals there we thoroughly enjoyed our coffee breaks!

Called in for a snack lunch as we had been in for coffee on an earlier visit to Sidmouth. Very nice sandwiches although the bread, whilst saying it was thick cut, were rather too thick for our taste and we had to leave some as too much.

Finally found somewhere for a cream tea & it was worth the wait. Pleased we only had one scone as this was plenty. Staff attentive just the right amount. Friendly place.

As a coeliac this was a lovely place to eat with lots of gluten free choices. Had toasted sandwiches on amazing gluten free bread which is specially made for the coffee shop. Ended up putting more money on car park so could have the cream tea with lovely gluten free fruit scones as well. As all coeliacs know this option doesn’t come very often! Very highly recommended and my thanks to the staff.
