What a great place. So kind and helpful – made us tea when they were in the process of closing – enormous teapot full of great tea and extra water because one of it likes weak tea. Wonderfull setting in the Cathedral close.

Decor is rather dated and the service poor. There were three staff chatting behind the counter but there can’t have been many people in the kitchen. The tea room wasn’t busy. We waited 45 minutes for two sandwiches. My sandwich had little filling in it and came with a bit of scruffy salad. The other sandwich was fine but overpriced. We wished we had gone elsewhere.

I came for a classic cuppa and a traditional jam scone. I was not disappointed with the quality and service. HOWEVER, in the outside seating area there was some giant Scarface wannabe, wearing a hat saying "I AM THE BOSS" throwing the Beckett's sign boards and advertising hoardings. The local Police have been informed and assure me that this demented individual is now subject to an anti-social behaviour exclusion and will not be returning. Beckett's is a quality venue. I am happy to see the Police keeping this a safe and secure location.

Very over-priced. Whilst I appreciate costs have risen for all, I think £8.45 for a ham baguette is very expensive. (the server asked 3 times which bread and it was still wrong). Also £2.50 for a can of coke. Nothing special.

Lovely tearoom. We sat in the room with an amazing view of Peterborough cathedral. More than delicious cake and excellent tea. We called in there between cathedral tours. Very friendly staff, most welcoming.

Not what I expected for a cathedral tea room. None of the glamor and splendour of the cathedral here. Filthy toilets in need of restoration and a man behind the till whose Christmas jumper could have done with seeing the washing machine. He was simply taking money and giving orders to lady serving. I ordered the poached egg on toast which was simply a disaster and a terribly expensive black coffee. If you want an expensive greasy spoon this is your place.

Following an excellent glass of mulled wine and mince pie (looked home made) we decided to have lunch at Becket's. We both had the roast pork. Lovely light crispy crackling, perfectly cooked vegetables (especially the parsnips) and a generous plate full. Good price. Friendly, welcoming service with a smile. If we lived nearby we would have lunch there on a regular basis. Fabulous view of the Cathedral from the upstairs room.

They were busy but the service was quite good. The prices were higher than I expected. The soup was good. I sat away from the door as I know it is draughty in there. Unfortunately there was a noticeable draught from the kitchen. Please, staff, remember that you may be hot with cooking and running around, but your customers deserve warmth and comfort. I saw people who had kept their coats on. I see someone has mentioned the toilet seat. I think a new one was required before opening as a new tea room.

Beckets started doing sunday lunches for the first time today. The food was delicious, only negative is that the roast potatoes weren't crispy enough for my liking. The service was excellent and nothing was too much trouble. It was good value, very relaxing atmosphere and we look forward to a return visit soon.

If you have money to throw away then this is the place for you. Very expensive and mediocre quality. We only had a coffee, a tea and 2 fruit scones and it came to over £14. Wished we'd gone elsewhere for a meal instead, but you live n learn.

When entering Becket's tea room found it very tired looking even though it appeared that they had tried. Saying that it needs a good overall and clean to get rid of the cobwebs especially the disgusting worn toilet seat which looked as old as the Cathedral As previously commented by somebody else our cheese scone was very dry and disappointing, would not be going back again.

It may be an historic building but the whole place needs to be decorated and bought up to 21st century visitor expectations. The seating is exceptionally uncomfortable, especially the wooden seating which runs around the interior. The other seating is pre loved, which needs throwing out. The toilets are disgusting. All in all the cathedral should be ashamed of this offering.

My wife an I went on a Monday afternoon and ordered a cream tea each each both scones came out as plain scones we were expecting fruit scones but thought this is how they do it here and they also tasted a bit stale…upon seeing the next table getting the same but with fruit scones scones I called the assistant over and asked why we had plain but she didn’t answer this & she didn’t apologise but in all fairness changed them for fruit scones and these tasted much better but still not very good service and afraid to say we will not be returning

Great spot for some lunch or even just a cuppa in town. We had fruit scones, lemon cake, pot of tea and a coffee. All was delicious. The scone and cake were home made and tasted really lovely. The scone was huge! We would highly recommend.

A fantastic find, and a tranquil world away from the noise and bustling city centre; even though it’s only steps away! The staff were all friendly and inviting, the cream tea serving was very generous and the fruit scone deliciously fresh. A truly tranquil treasure of an adult indulgence - well worth seeking out!

I recently brought a group of children with special needs and staff from the home I work in for drinks and cake. We had several wheelchairs and were about to sit outside because there was more space but a member of staff who's name I unfortunately didn't get could not have been more friendly and helpful. He very quickly cleared and cleaned down several tables and moved the furniture around for us to make access easier. He made sure we were in an area where there was a ramp and easy access to the toilets, stayed while we got settled to make sure nothing else needed to be moved and helped to bring our order to the table for us. The drinks and cake were lovely as well.

Nothing too special about the food and service was fairly slow on a quiet afternoon. But I love the nostalgic feel of an old English tea room. There are many modern coffee shops in town. This one has a good historical feel about it. I have been waiting for the Cathedral to open a coffee shop for a long time. At last there is one! Please improve on your customer service and speed!

The tea rooms are very nice and offer a good selection of food at reasonable prices. I had the soup and my friends a variety of toasties. The let down is in the toilet facilities which do need some improvements.

Called in for a coffee and it was a shambles, how many people does it take to make a coffee? 3 at One to take your order, one to make the drink and one to watch. On the menu it says filter coffee, so ordered 2 and was told we don't do filter, WHY? Handed in my loyalty card and got one stamp, polinted out I had purchased 2 drinks . Other customers seem to be having problems with ordering/ paying. So come back Bev or we are off.

Visited Wednesday. This is a lovely location within the Cathedral precincts with indoor and outdoor seating. You enter via a door with the extra seating area one way and the seating and counter the other way but no signing. The menu has a good range of various types of food but very little for sale at the counter. The hot counter had hardly anything in it (at 1230pm lunchtime). Otherwise there was very little else from the menu for sale, In fact one customer said “well tell me what you do have”. The tables were mostly set for four but the toaster could only deal with three tea cakes at a time and ‘toasted’ was too strong a word. If there was a problem with obtaining supplies then put up a notice saying so and apologising because based on our experience we shall not be returning and neither I suspect will many others. The toilet area was very poor with one shared toilet which was extremely small and one shared disabled toilet which had no soap. Not good enough for the amount of tables. There are several eating places within a very short distance of the Cathedral which would have been a better choice. Becket’s could do so much better.

Visited on Saturday after attending exhibition at the cathedral and thought it appropriate to support the on site cafe. However at 1230 there was a limited selection of available food , very few clear tables and a general lack of organisation. Despite this being probably one of the busiest days for the cathedral the catering was not geared up to cope. The lady who took our drinks order was polite but decided to eat lunch elsewhere and just had a coffee. Thought this would be a gem but will not return based on this visit - sorry.

Lovely tea room with seating inside and out. Very reasonably price - pot of tea for one (probably one and a half cups) in proper tea pot and proper cup and saucer £1.80.Great location next to Cathedral, cakes look delicious and home-made, although we didn’t try any, my only complaint would be that service is a tad slow,

Popped in here almost by accident and it was a lovely surprise. Situated by the Cathedral, there is both indoor and outdoor seating areas so, not only can you enjoy a lovely cuppa and a wonderful scone but also fresh air and a great view. The staff are friendly and efficient, willing to go the extra mile. There is a nice selection of what appears to be home made cakes, scones and sandwiches. I’ve enjoyed a bacon sandwich here and a nice scone; I wasn’t disappointed. It makes a nice change from the usual Starbucks, Nero and Pret which surround it. I shall definitely be going back.

Only the second visit here but the two of us enjoyed a delicious cup of tea with tasty cake. We sat outside and admired the West front of Peterborough Cathedral bathed in glorious sunshine. A great venue. Indoor seating is available. The menu offers various sandwiches and cake, afternon tea with Prosecco, brunch, lunch and snacks. There is a child’s menu as well. Charming and friendly staff.

Every week I visit this place and it never fails to amaze me! Service is spot on! Always polite and helpful and willing to go the extra mile to make sure we leave happy. The food is Top tier, never had a bad meal & the meat is such good quality and value for money. Just ordered a birthday cake as well this week and it’s one of the best cakes I’ve ever tasted! Value for money and ordering the cake was so simple and efficient! Brother in arms, food and service is also above and beyond! Already booked again for my next visit! Later in the month!
