Beano Cafe & Restaurant in Thanet

Recently popped in here with a friend for brunch and we had two different breakfasts. My friend had the Mega Breakfast and I had the Special Breakfast, they came to £8.90 and £7 respectably, quite good value. Quality was average for the area but price was very good. Service was fast both at the counter and for delivery. Items were cooked well and we had no complaints.

Two chicken roast meals to takeaway for a Sunday lunch. Very happy with the quality of the food and brilliant value for money. The chicken was well cooked with a crispy skin. The roast potatoes were good and a nice selection of well cooked vegetables including carrots, brocolli, cabbage and cauliflower. The carrots were especially good. The only improvement I could suggest would be a better gravy (chicken specific). Thank you Beano

Brilliant little ‘off the beaten track’ gem. Great food, reasonable pricing and lovely staff. I would highly recommend this little cafe if you’re in the area.

Excellent food, great service and open first thing in the morning! Street Parking available outside, food at a good price. Co-Op next door if you also need a shop. Food is fresh and super tasty. Options to eat in and take away. Toilets available, a table outside too. Seems like quite a few locals were here too which is always a good sign. Definitely recommend and will be coming back!

We were a table of 4, 3 adults and 1 child. We ordered 3 special breakfasts and 1 mega for the fella. The mega came out 5 minutes prior to the specials. The chips looked like they had been refried at least 3 times. The sausages were black where they were burnt. Eventually the specials came out. Sadly, everything was just burnt. We said to the waitress about the food being burnt, at first she was quite defensive but eventually apologised. We are the food as we were all hungry. But I can confirm we will not return to this Beano.

Good variety on the menu, well priced. Good for roasts & fry ups. The curry & lasagne state home made but aren't fresh. Decent tea and coffee. Would definately return. Food comes out quite quick & plates cleared quickly too.

Went to the best beano cafe in Westgate today and what a disgrace and disgusting meal we had food bill come to £17 for best beano breakfast and burger brunch meal consisting of 2 beef burgers chips and beans Firstly the bacon was so so salty it was almost inedible, the mushrooms had been deep fried to a crisp the sausage was very cheap indeed and the egg was rock hard On the other plate the 2x burgers tasted awful and incredibly cheap and definitely inedible the chips had no potato in them just crispy shells the egg was again rock hard however the beans tasted ok on both plates I have visited many cafes mainly in London and I can honestly say this one was by far the most expensive and served the most disgusting food I have ever had awful awful place!

Builders , locals ,cafe gets busy serves breakfast ,brunch ,dinner all good . Staff friendly and food cooked fresh and fast We've been many times and always enjoyed food from the large menu

Both myself and step father really enjoyed our breakfast and he is a very fussy eater. We both cleared our plates, were happy with the service and are planning to return soon. The cost was also very good!!

3 days on visiting,, each day 2 toasted bacon sandwiches and 1 latte. First day £8-30, second day 8-40, 3rd day £9-30,, bacon sandwich £3. Toasted bacon sandwich £3-50. They are charging an extra 50 pence to toast your sandwich.. Bit much.. 🤔🤔

Early morning breakfast of sausage, 2x bacon, 2x egg, 2x hash browns and bread and butter, plus a bottle of water for £6.30. Quality seemed to have improved, service was fast, and price very reasonable.

Two visits recently with my son. Great breakfasts and Sausage sandwiches . Lovely staff. See you all again soon.

I had lasagna and salad my partner had burgers,egg, chips and beans. It taste nice and good price but shame that the food was not hot enough,the lasagna was cold in the middle, very disappointing should have used the temperature gauge to checked the lasagna was hot or not when used the microwave.

A great cafe. Well priced and lovely cooked food. Would highly recommend trying the liver it was soo good. Even my daughter enjoyed it and she is quite fussy.

Good choice of dishes, easy free parking outside, nice and clean highly reccommend and really really yummy!

Four of us stopped here for lunch. Two Roast lunches, Spanish Omelette and Chips and a large breakfast. Add on a drink each, a pudding and it came to around £40, excellent value. Everybody thought their meals were tasty, and the portions were a good size, service was fast considering it was quite busy at Sunday lunchtime.

We have visited this cafe a few times this year which we found by chance on visiting Westgate. Although we have so far only sampled the breakfasts we cannot fault it. The service is always quick and the staff are friendly. The food is always delicious, the portion is generous and is such good value for money. This is our new favourite breakfast spot which we thoroughly recommend.

Was great to be back in for breakfast today. Lovely cooked breakfast for my son and a sausage sandwich for me. .. Hope to see you again soon.

First time I have been back in here since lifting of lockdown. Staff are still very friendly and polite and their quarter pounder burgers are still the best that there is

I visited the Beano’s cafe, as I do frequently, with my friends on our lunch break. Normally I experience no issues and find the cafe provides good service. However, on this particular occasion, this wasn’t the case. On arrival I calculated from the menu what the price of my meal would be as I am a student (I made it £2.60). When I went up to the till I ordered the mushroom (£1), poached egg (0.80p) and sausage(0.80p) where I was told it was £3 all together. When I inquired as to why this was the case I was faced with 3 members of staff circled around my table who spoke to one another in a different language before telling me it is listed as a meal. As shown in the picture below, this does not appear in their set meals. I believe it is both unprofessional and rude to address a loyal customer in this way whilst simply making an enquiry. They should state on their menu that this is their charging system, if this is the case. There were no attempts made to resolve the issue and I felt uncomfortable in the facility after this event.

I have had many meals at the Best Beano Cafe and never been disappointed. Excellent value for money.

Went here this morning and actually got it at a quiet time. Ordered at the counter and sat down with our drinks. Toast arrived and then about 10 minutes later the breakfast arrived. Would have been nice to have together as you have to eat the toast straight away. Good breakfast though. Beans weren’t that hot. But all tasted and was allowed to swap out the chips for hash browns. Toilets were clean.

I stayed in Westgate in September 2019 for a long weekend and enjoyed a really good value breakfast that did not skimp on the portions. A clean, no nonsense traditional cafe with quick service and good value for money.

Today we tried the other Beano in Westgate,and they were very good. £17+ got three good size meals and drinks. All nicely cooked,fast and polite service,and much better here than our last trip a few months previously.

I visit here usually around twice a week and will normally have a chocolate bar with a bottle of coke. On this occasion however, I ordered burger and chips. It was very busy in the café and as a result the wait was a little longer than expected. However, the wait was well worth it. My food arrived fresh and it tasted delicious. I had the most generous portion of chips and my burger was cooked to perfection. The staff are always very friendly and polite. This café is known as “The Best Beano”. It’s a name they certainly live up to in my opinion.

Whilst sitting in this cafe I witnessed the staff here openly and obviously laughing at a man with learning disabilities. Absolutely shocking. I immediately left.

I came here after a long business meeting and I ordered the best breakfast with toast and it was beautiful, the cafe is very very clean and the toilet areas were the same, they have very high standards in here and I will be back very soon if I have another business meeting in Thanet. Highly recommended!

The food is great Freshly cooked as well The staff are still fantastic And a breakie for a great price!

Really enjoyed the roast lamb with lots and lots of fresh veggies and mint sauce The only down side was the roast potatoes which I think were cooked in the oil fryer

Came in lunchtime,it was busy.We were served fast at the counter,even though there were a few in front of us. The meal also arrived quickly.

Met a friend for breakfast fast service no high chairs only the ones you strap to a seat. Nice and clean the staff are lovely and you can park for free.

A really good breakfast/ lunch time cafe. Very good selection at very reasonable prices. I had bacon baguette for £2.20. Best hot chocolate we have had in a long time and only £1.60. Definitely coming back.

Very popular cafe always very busy

Excellent value breakfast today. All the products were of a good quality,well prepared,and served hot and quite quickly. Two good size breakfasts with three drinks at just over £11,and they accept credit cards. We will be back.

Place was nearly packed over two thirds of the tables were taken at midday on Sunday Service was really quick Staff were nice as well

Personally visit for breakfast( plenty to choose from) but there's much more on the menu ... Quick and pleasant service, not expensive

we dicided to have a coffee but once we see the meals that were being served we decided to have lunch the meals were large and cooked very well hot and the place is very clean staff very nice service was quick and great value

Don't bother. Very bland and tasteless food. The sausages are the worst I've tasted. Greasy eggs and cold toast. Cheap cheap coffee

This most popular "greasy spoon" café continues to offer excellent breakfast at very reasonable prices. Proper "brick layer's " tea and filling breakfast all day long. They do have other hot snacks on the menu but I have never tried them. If I have to be out early I never miss the opportunity to get a cooked breakfast at Beano's. Always clean and tidy. TV and clean W.C. thats is about all I can say except I look forward to the next visit.

Had a special breakfast here yesterday. Nice clean place. Pleasant breakfast that was just the right size. Nice coffee and juice. Will come back when I next feel the need for a Beano. Seems good value and very popular.

Myself and my husband frequently dine here for breakfast... They serve a typical cafe breakfast which I enjoy. Service and owners are really nice which is why we go back..

Popped in first time for a coffee whilst visiting Westgate. The coffee was nice and the service very good and polite people. But the toilets and the table legs were very dirty and hadn't been cleaned!

Always like visiting here as the food is always well cooked and the staff friendly. Plenty of variety to chose from whether breakfast, lunch or dinner

My wife & I had breakfast in here today. The place was reasonably clean, and the service was as we would expect. We were unimpressed by the warmed over fried slice, runny beans and watery coffee. It's fair to say this underwhelming meal was cheap, so it was fair value, but there are better places to eat for very little extra cost.

Very nice cafe - quick and very reasonably priced. A hamburger for under 2 quid? Great menu and very cheap.

We take our two boys to Westgate cinema regularly, usually whilst in Westgate we pay a visit to this cafe. The staff have always been very polite and respectful toward us. They appear to be happy in their work and always seem busy. There is a good choice of food and drinks on the menu and the prices are very reasonable. The boys really enjoy the chicken burger meal whilst we really enjoy the liver and bacon meal or a roast dinner, all come out piping hot and a decent sized portion. The Best Beano Cafe has always been clean and fresh when we go there, the toilets are kept presentable too. All in all this is a great place to visit for a decent meal a good value, please make sure that you get the Best Beano !! As there is another cafe called Beanos just down the road. The cafe is very convenient for the station which is just across the road, there are a number of other shops in this small High Street and a few minutes walk will take you to Westgate sea front.

First time I visited- chip in the mug and a chip in the plate for a bacon sarnie and tea which is unhygienic. I thought this was a one-off.

My children and I really enjoy the food and the service here. My son is 21yrs and we've been visiting The Best Beano Cafe since he was at primary school, he still enjoys their burgers - we all agree that this really is 'the Best Beano Cafe!'

If you fancy that hit, you know , that plate of filthy cheap and nasty sausages and bacon , tinned tomatoes floating around the egg whose yolk is hard. Side order of council house bread with whale blabber margarine and a cup of tea . Then this is your place. Oh and you can read a three day old copy of The Sun as well. Bonus.

Regularmente tienen una variedad de comidas, y el amor en el Beanos hígado y tocino. El personal siempre con una sonrisa amable, y el servicio es rápido.

Vinieron aquí para un almuerzo con mi pareja. Pedí un par de batidos, que estaban muy bien y sabroso pero eran servidos en vasos de plástico rotos, que decepcionaban un toque. Las hamburguesas salieron muy rápidamente y me sabía muy bien y nos llenó. Ambiente agradable y no muy caro. En general, es un buen lugar para ir a por algo de comer.

Decidimos visitar Westgate en el mar para el día, y decidimos en Beano como hemos estado aquí un par de años atrás. Arroz con pollo al curry y era muy bonito, no mucho, pero muy sabrosas y tiernas piezas de pollo. Mermelada rolly poly con una generosa ayuda de helado, seguido de un buen café, el servicio fue rápido y muy satisfactorio, parada en la próxima vez que visite Westgate.

Este es uno de los mejores restaurantes beano que he estado y la comida es siempre caliente. Una gran relación calidad-precio. El personal es amable y el servicio es rápido.

We migrate here every time we want a weekend breakfast. Friendly staff and great food make for the best. They have their main menu but will basically add or take away anything you want. Your wish is their command. Lots of seating.

We used to go in the their old cafe down the road but since moving we have never been in the new cafe. We were amazed at the difference from the old one . Better seating and a more lighter and ambient decor and inside. The good was good quality and well priced.

I've been to the Best Beano many times since it opened in its new location. The food is still good and still excellent value. I've sampled the breakfasts, the roasts and the fantastic mixed grill. Very happy with it and have kind of settled on their Mega Breakfast as my favourite, and my grandson says the nuggets are better than Maccy D's!! Good food, good prices, and plenty of room.

A good clean café that serves good food along with good tea and coffee, warm friendly staff and all at a good price, used this café on more than one occasion and cannot complain ok it may not be the Ritz's but a better than average café. visit the beano and see for yourselves.

Went in today for something to eat with mother in law and the missus. All had a breakfast in different guises, they were as we ordered and the quality of the sausages were excellent (always judge my breakfasts with the sausage ). Would recommend to anyone looking for a no nonsense meal

Amazing experience! I came this morning to grab a cup of coffee, (come often to have lunch with mate from work) and was desperate for pee! I never use public toilets due to hygien, bud today I was gona pee my pants! So I use there toilets and god they were sqeeking clean! Smell of freshness ! So thumbs up guys! The whole restaurant is very tidy and clean waiters look after the tables very well! Love this caf!

First visit here and very impressed with cleanliness, service and value for money. Will be visiting again.

First Class Roast very fresh and hot Beanos is a very clean and friendly place to eat and very coast

I just had a pizza and garlic bread delivered. It was quicker than expected and boy was it delicious! I also have enough left for tomorrow. It was certainly worth the money and the chap that delivered it was nice. Would certainly recommend it and will use again.

Have eaten here numerous of times and the beanos breakfast is the ultimate best. The staff are fab friendly and always helpful. Ate their last Sunday never had what my son fancied so I asked if they could put together a meal, and did so without a quibble.

I've been in here a few times, while viewing properties in the area, I've just moved to Westgate on sea now so popped down town for some shopping and thought I'd try out their breakfast! The bread is high quality and the breakfast was lovely!! I look forward to returning to this lovely cafè!!

We have popped in a couple of times and like it's good basic food. Breakfast is good value and it seems busier since it reopened so it now has a friendly lively atmosphere. They deserve to do well.

Come in here once a month with my family and grandparent. The staff are always friendly and attentive (often giving my son a lolly just because they want to). All food is cooked to order-their mega breakfast fills my husband up all day. The tables are always clean and they always remember their customers and have a chat. Never had a bad visit.

Beano Cafe has been around Westgate for many years now, having recently moved to much larger premises.Friendly service and good fresh "tranny cafe" food - if you've a hankering for egg and chips with a cup of tea, this is the place!

Went there.for Sunday roast, absolutely great, but on our fourth visit we were served with roast beef crumbs! Couldn't believe that they would destroy their reputation, so sad we enjoyed this place so much! But we will try there again.

After moving to the area recently, I found this gem of a place close to home. And as many reviewers have described, a clean appearance following its makeover. Serves a wide range of meals from all day breakfasts of varying sizes, omelettes with various fillings, sandwiches, salads etc. Found a warm welcome from the staff, ordered cod, chips & peas for a main course. Quick service for myself and other patrons arriving after me. Great food, large plateful which left no room for dessert unfortunately. A well earned 10/10, would certainly come back for a second go!

Went in here this morning just for a coffee, it was one of the best cappuccions I've had in a cafe for a long while. I also had some toast and my daughter had a ham and cheese roll both of witch we enjoyed very much. We thought the staff were lovely, it was very clean the toilet was spotless and the hand really did dry your hands.

I say restaurant because it's much better than a cafe.No greasy spoon place this. Clean with no horrible greasy smells.For breakfast, lunch or whatever such god food. Lovely owners and staff.

Been a Beano for years at least 10. Love the new diner style location and the consistent quality and value for money . I take the liver but with chips never had a bad one. My kids are all adults and go there too and always compliment the food value and the team.

Lots of copycat Beano cafes but this is the best.Fast service,cheap prices and a nice bright seating area.Miss the old place but definatly a change for the better.

Since moving from the old premise. We felt that the surroundings are better but that's all. The coffee is now nothing like it used to be. It's a great shame as it used to be worth the visit just for coffee alone. We have found better locally

Since moving to this larger venue, slowly the original staff appear to have left and the current kitchen crew just don't cut the mustard. Where once you could count on having a good, old English non-greasy breakfast, now even the mushrooms are pre deep fried before being slapped on the griddle! Why? It's a shame because me and my friends have been regular diners for years and we miss the healthier cooking techniques. It may be quicker to deep-fry everything first but it does nothing for the taste or the waistline!Please provide the same good cafe food that you used to dish up. We miss not having a favourite breakfast cafe to go to.

My Fiancé and I visit This place regularly. The food is delicious and very reasonably priced. The customer service is great and we never have to wait too long for our food. This place is always busy but has a great village atmosphere. Will keep coming back here!

In the sleepy Thanet village of Westgate-on Sea, there used to be a greasy spoon Café called the Beano. It was a narrow dark place which had been popular with the local workers for ages, or at least the mid 1970's. Well a year or so back they moved into a completely re-furbed premises with polished floors and a completely new decor which is perfectly clean. It might be said that the colour scheme might not please everyone but you know the old saying about taste and colours ?However we had a super English breakfast there this week and it was perfect. Egg, bacon, fried slice, sausage, beans or tomato and a large mug of tea for less than a fiver each ! For a hearty breakfast, in clean surroundings with good friendly service. It would be hard to complain. Worth a try for breakfast, I have never tried their lunch menu.
