Beachside Grill in North Devon

Food was lovely, nice service and the location was great. Nice setting with option to sit outside. Short walk down the hill from Saunton sands hotel. Would visit again.

Great location, great food and super lovely staff. Good value for money too! A lovely dining setting and still family friendly. We visited with our 10 month old baby and they made us feel really welcome and was lovely with him.

We dined at the Beach Grill twice during our stay. It is right on the beach, below the Saunton Sands Hotel, which it is part of. Nice staff; very good fish and chips, onion rings and pizza. Very casual.

We visited the Beachside Grill today for Dinner after a day on Saunton Sands beach. The location is great, the staff are fabulous and the food is amazing. Thank you

Food is OK, nothing overly special, and probably too expensive for what it is. The view is good. Main restaurant is nice but has no air con which makes it unbearable in the height of summer. One adult and one child. Ordered our food and it was delivered, no issues. We then waited for half an hour for anyone of the five waiting staff to notice we had finished and to clear the table. They didn’t notice. We had to ask. There were only 5 tables of diners in the main restaurant and at times four of the staff were hanging around the bar area either gossiping about each other (I can confirm this as they weren’t subtle about it) or just looking generally confused about how they found themselves there. In summary - food is average, service horrific. Don’t bother visiting, there are significantly better places who deserve your custom.

We were a family party of25, celebrating a golden wedding and a diamond wedding. We preordered our mains, and everyone was vey well pleased-the steaks were especially commended. The staff served us with expertise and good humour. Thank-you all very much.

Prefect spot for lunch. Booked for 4 adults and 4 children (2 in high chairs), excellent service throughout. Perfect location with amazing views. We sat inside, which was spacious and cool. Genuinely the best sea bass is have had (this is my go to meal and had it all over the country). Portions are good sizes, food is VERY TASTY!! Will return when we return next year.

Visited with our dog on a lovely sunny day. Could have sat out on the balcony for a year, we purposely kept ordering food just so that we could soak up the view and sunshine for longer! Food was luckily delicious and good amount of options. Booked our next holiday so will definitely be visiting again in 2024!

Remarkably good food and service at this beachside restaurant - I was really taken aback by how good it is. Highly recommended!

Family dinner was made memorable firstly because the food was certainly of a quality to be proud of and the interaction from our male server (though I feel he may be of management level) who gave such joy too our nephew with his polite fussing of him made it a great night. Big shout for the mussels that were truly memorable.

Second visit, we went last year, the best beach in the area, fantastic for dogs, so to find a great place to eat is a bonus. The food is so fresh the service is excellent, my sister had fish and chips amazing, I had the prawn salad with the best Parmesan chips yummy. Will be looking forward to going again next year.

A stunning location with beautiful views over the beach and sunset over the sea. Sadly, the food does not compliment the location. We arrived at 12.30 pm and wanted a simple coffee and a desert cake to go with it. No dessert cake on menu so settled for side nibble of Onion rings and Garlic bread. Too much batter and oil on the onion rings and the Garlic bread did not taste of Garlic at all. A Lady ( Not in our party) at the table beside us ordered a Pizza which when it came refused it as it was uneatable. Would not go again except maybe for a Coffee and the view.

We visited 4 times in August, as it was local to our rented accommodation . On each visit the general view of are parties of 5 or 6 was very positive. The menu was suited our family as it offered something for everyone. It was always served in a cheerful and friendly manner. There was a variety of dishes with superb steaks, char grilled chicken, open sandwiches, small and sharing plates, etc. The bottled cider was very good. *** But why did the early evening tables stay empty so often waiting for people who had booked later in the evening. There is a lift for disabled people and families with pushchairs etc. Tips........book early to avoid disappointment. Take a fleece to sit outside in the evening.

Sadly, extremely average to poor food. Starters, crusty bread and oils were a floury shop bought loaf, chicken wings however were good. Mains, burgers were ok but £19 for an average burger was over the top. Mac and cheese was poor, Pizzas were awful, I’ve eaten better frozen pizzas from Iceland at a kids party. Over priced and sadly poor quality.

Beautiful terrace setting just as you enter/leave the beach. We were a group of 7 and nearly everyone ordered calamari which was delicious, red pepper hummus tasted strange! Wish I could say the same about the mains. IMO their Pizzas are frozen. The seafood risotto was just risotto with some fish thrown in. Our sea bass fillet was lukewarm, minuscule and the Greek salad had raw halloumi in it instead of feta. When we told the waiter he said he would tell the kitchen! There was only 1 person happy with their mains. All show with no substance and overpriced - such a shame

When I looked at the reviews, this restaurant looked really good, but after trying the food, I don’t understand why. The plus point is the location is great. Otherwise the food is below par. I ordered the large steak salad but asked for no blue cheese as I’m 8 months pregnant and my partner ordered the Philly cheesesteak sandwich. Both meals came, firstly my partners sandwich wasn’t a sandwich, it was a bit of steak on toast covered in cheese. Although he said it tasted fine, it was expensive for what it was. My salad definitely wasn’t a “mains portion” and of course, as expected it came with blue cheese so I had to send it back as there was too much to pick out. After 5-10 minutes it came back out and this time it had no dressing so the salad was dry. No one came to check if the food was ok, so I just ate it as I was hungry and felt like a pain to ask again. A waiter apologised about the blue cheese when collecting our plates and asked if everything was ok, i explained there was no dressing on the second salad but I couldn’t get anyone’s attention to tell them. He just said he would feed it back to the chef. There was no discount, or a complementary drink etc. If they had rectified it I wouldn’t have minded but they didn’t. The portions are so small for the price, you definitely pay a premium for the location but the food and service doesn’t reflect the prices. I would be wary visiting if you have any allergies as they clearly don’t cater to any adaptions to the menu even when asked.

What an unexpectedly excellent eatery right down at the seaside. Either I am out of date on the quality of beachside food outlets, or this is very unusual. Four adults and a 5-year old wandered in off of the beach, and were treated to a collection of very good salads, tasty mussels, and so on. Friendly service. Why queue for a burger or a sandwich when you can have this?

Arrived in the evening has immediately told quite a few of the items weren’t available. Including the draft beer that they’d been waiting 2 weeks for ?!?!? 2 in party had steaks which were good. One had peri peri chicken that was very small and the other fish and chips, which was very average. Service was very slow despite not being very busy and not very attentive until complained.

I guess the lack of competition is a big factor but the food is pretty mediocre (and expensive) . We paid £39 for two average burgers and a ropey Margarita pizza. The pizza base was thick and claggy and the topping was tasteless. We suspect it was frozen. Would suggest investing in a small pizza oven. There’s plenty of choice of cheap ovens nowadays and you could really improve the offering.

My family and I just visited the Beachside Grill and can report that it was great. The food was really good quality, the service was bright, helpful and quick and to top it off we had a window seat overlooking the beach. We had a bonus in that weather was beautiful which obviously you can’t guarantee, however, I’d have been equally happy if it had been lashing down outside watching a storm roll by. One minor point to note, you have to pay for the car park and can’t park in the hotel above. I was hoping for a voucher from the restaurant but alas no joy. That would definitely not put me off coming back or recommending to others.

Fantastic location and very welcoming. We ordered ribeye with truffle chips and seafood risotto. It was outstanding in quality of meat and in cooking. Couldn't have asked for better. I know my steaks and this was the best. Dessert was lemon creme brule. It was also excellent.

We really wanted to like this place but unfortunately we were left disappointed. One member of the party chose pizza, thinking wood fired etc - it wasn’t. Quite doughy base and not great. Others chose the loaded fries with brisket. Sadly the dish wasn’t as described, the tips of burnt brisket actually came as ‘pulled brisket’ which in itself would be ok, but instead it was really overpowered with a lot of strongly flavoured BBQ sauce - way too much and for us spoiled the dish. It may be that you visit and really enjoy the food, unfortunately it wasn’t for us and we probably wouldn’t go again.
