Very long wait on food, and it wasn't that busy. Food was disappointing.

Rude manager, taking phone calls instead of serving people queuing. Other staff great . 22.11.2017 Overpriced for lime and soda £2.40, yesterday at another greene king pub only £1.00 The staff member who served me after a 14-minute wait was abrupt. They never seem to understand when there us more than 4 in a queue who are ordering food. Nobody seems to ask for more staff.

Great pub in a lovely location. Friendly staff and lots of delicious food to choose from a varied menu. Have enjoyed watching some games from the Euros here. A great stop when you are walking around the lake.

Walked around the lake. Popped in for lunch and carvery. A little light with the slices of meat, but all were perfectly cooked and delicious. Dog friendly and the sell off cuts of meat for £1.25 my pups really enjoyed it.

Had such a lovely meal with breathtaking view. The staff are so friendly and welcoming. Especially Charlotte on the bar. So nice to see a member of staff enjoying their job nothing was to much to ask. Served with a smile. Will be back.

Visited the Beach with friends for dinner, on arrival the staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was lovely and great value for money. Will definitely be going back.

It was not busy, and brought my friends sweet out before the meal. My small plates were overcooked, then waited ages for the sweets to come out, only to be told that mine hadn't be ordered!

When I first got there and stood at the bar there was a lady in front of me and a member of staff behind the bar asked the lady was she being served and she sad no and as she said that a male member of staff came to her and served her. The first member of staff who asked the lady about being served looked at me and then turned around and walked off. I ordered my food nothing difficult simple things off the started section then went and sat down. The place was not busy as it was 7pm. We sat there for nearly a hour and still no food there was people came in after we did and they was getting served before we was eventually the food came and it was ether dry the nachos where burnt and all the food was cold like it had been stood there for half hour. Very disappointed with all the experience of the visit 😕

Some confusion from the bar staff when ordering breakfast - look a long time to order at the till and then took a long time to arrive. When it did arrive everything looked like it had been sitting out for a while and was a bit dry/ overcooked. Tasted ok though and was a good price.

Went to watch England play last night, we ordered food and drinks and we couldn’t fault them. The service was amazing and they was all so helpful. Would 100% recommend and would go again

Me and my brother went for lunch after a walk around the lake. The food was really nice, we both had the buttermilk chicken burger with mac n cheese on it. The staff were friendly. The lady at the bar, I think her name is Emma, was nice and had a lovely demeanour about her. The desserts were tasty too. Would recommend

Went there with my family expecting just about decent breakfast I was extremely disappointed with the breakfast. First it came late, then we had burnt bacon as if that was enough I was given orange juice that’s not even full. The food did not even taste- the customer service was next to nothing the bar tender when told I did not need ice in my juice he just went on to Remove the ice and not top up the juice I found this disgusting. The place is not clean

We had the carvery the veg was very hard under cooked the Yorkshire puddings were over cooked very crispy the meats were fine and the gravy was nice ie reason for 3 stars staff were very nice and accommodating

Fab fab fab guess am a Regular and theirs a reason- very professionally run by Sophie , Brad and young Callum suitably supported by all staff, front & kitchen,beers cold & food fills a corner.. Had many happy smiley times.. Do urself a favor & call in for a cold beer and steak.. Easy 8/10

I’m really fussy with chicken but I enjoyed this so much today it was fantastic. Guy on the bar was so welcoming and polite and then the food was so good I asked the chefs name to send my compliments- Lewis you were ace thank you for a great meal

Excellent service last night. Matt and Debbie were fantastic as always. My daughter had carvery and was really impressed with the food on offer.

Darren on the carvery is a legend!!! Polite, friendly and helpful! We are had the carvery and it was lovely! The only negative was we were sat on the large round table near the fire door at the back of the pub, it's very squashed in so I had to get up each time someone needed to get past me 🙄 not great when trying to eat with family. Not sure it should be so close to the fire exit either, so maybe needs looking at are taking it out of that area altogether? Over all a lovely pub with yummy food!! 😋

Most of the tables which are wheel chair accessible are only big enough for 2 people. The dining areas for groups are up or down a level with no way of getting a wheelchair to those areas. We have turned up, the place is empty, went to find a seat next to the disabled toilet and there’s 2 tables set out both with reserved signs on, from previous visits it’s become apparent these signs are only placed there incase a big party comes in, surely if they’re not actually booked out then they’re available. We were left wondering around wondering where to sit to suit the wheelchair and my nanna. I asked a really helpful lady who sorted out a table(one of the reserved ones) her manager who she asked clearly wasn’t happy to help though. This is the second time now we’ve been treated as a nuisance, if it wasn’t for my nans love for the lake we wouldn’t bother at all. I’d highly suggest considering the area that these 2 big tables are split out or moved to the other areas of the pub where people don’t have any issues with mobility. It’s not appropriate to feel like a hassle just for her being disabled, they should be more accommodating if anything. The food is great thankfully, so are most of the servers however this particular manager looks dejected, like he hates the place and customers even more so. If he’s not happy might I suggest he leave, even watching him with other customers it’s obviously he’s agitated with them and their needs. It’s a shame but I think we’ll start going back to the hornet or the paper mill cause it’s not worth my nans upset feeling like she’s done something wrong just because she’s in a wheelchair.

Had a very nice breakfast and also an excellent carvery (different days). Brilliant staff and a great location.

Didn’t eat so can’t comment on the food but the atmosphere was exactly what you’d want from a carvery. The pub was busy during my visit so there was a larger queue than I’d have liked but the staff handled it very well and did a great job of tracking who was next.

Matthew was great! Really helpful and smiley! The food was ok, took a while to come out but there were 7 of us so very understandable. Debbie came over to check on us and was lovely! Thank you all!

Went today after 2 laps of the lake with our dog. Walked in sat in the great dog friendly area, went to the till to get served . Ignored for ten minutes. Then finally asked to step over to the till out of the dog friendly bit . Only to be pushed out of the way by another customer with countless orders and and allergy needs. Went to ask the passing manager but was taken aback by his reaction to an old fella sat down saying that people were waiting too long. I won't use the language the manager used to the customer but it wasn't normal . I then asked the same manager for help saying I'd waited a long time and I wanted two straight mixed grill meals and drinks . He then directed me to the same till I'd Neen waiting at . I got served at the next till only to be told that no mixed grills were on the menu . This is no fault of the bar staff . This day was managed ridiculously. I went over the road to Krave and we were served perfectly and the food was amazing. Give The Beach a miss . Trust me .

Good value, reasonable selection but carvery fell well below expectations with barely warm, watery vegetables and definitely the worst 'roast' potatoes I've ever tasted! Grubby seating and menus but great location and what's not to like about free all day parking when you dine.

Awful, place has gone downhill… ‘ chef ‘ on the carvery is trying to win a award for the thinnest slices of meat known to man, hardly any trimmings left, mash had formed a skin, burned ‘ roast ‘ potatoes.

Excellent!! Staff are so friendly and helpful, from sorting out 14 orders, to checking that we were happy with our food. I can't fault them. The food was excellent, as always.

All the staff were very friendly. Sarah and Matthew especially. Very dog friendly and dog menu was great. CeeJay loved his full bowl of carvery trimmings.

Me and my partner came here after a lovely walk around the lake. We arrived and decided to try the carvery honestly it’s put me off carvery’s. We were first in the line for the carvery and the chef just put his hand out for the tickets without saying a word then said 1 min and didn’t return for a while. We both chose the beef as we didn’t like the look of the other meats. We had ordered pigs in blankets and were handed our plates. I had to ask for the pigs in blankets to be told he’d bring them to the table he then started serving another customer. Then disappeared again when we asked for some mash. Debbie came over and apologised and then went and brought some mash out and gravy and mint sauce. We started to eat and honestly I’ve never had a carvery where I have been so disappointed with everything on my plate, the roast potatoes were soft and chewy, the Yorkshire pudding was burnt on top, the cauliflower cheese was hard, the mash tasted and looked like powdered mash. Debbie was the only good thing about our visit. She brought the pigs in blankets over to the table but only had 1 order of them, and they were rubbery and looked like they had been microwaved. She was apologetic and offered us free drinks but we were just so disappointed with our visit. We thanked her for her service and left. I don’t think we’ll ever be back.

My cousin booked this place about a month ago for a family gathering. There wasn’t enough staff to take meal orders and serve drinks. My brother had to stand waiting to order for about 25 minutes. The guy who apparently was in charge was extremely rude to us on two separate occasions. The carvery staff were absent for a good while despite having a long queue. We were apparently supposed to press a bell for attention but this wasn’t obvious. Most of the other staff were pleasant, but very slow and tables weren’t cleared very well. There only seemed like one person was trying her best to sort this. I ran a very busy pub for 12 years so I know what it can be like keeping on top of things. The guy in charge was rude jobsworth more interested in strutting around than doing a job and he was extremely unhelpful. I’d have sacked him. If you are short staffed then you need to muck in , not whinge at your customers. We are not interested in your problems only your solutions. The food was ok for the price but a bit tepid. Won’t be rushing back.

Food was cold. The carvery food was almost cold and dried up. Won’t be eating there again.We were asked if our food was ok and we said no its cold and dried up, nothing was said, so why do they bother asking?

Had lunch there today. Staff were really good. Unfortunately the food was not good at all. The burger was raw in the middle and the fish was so dry I couldn’t eat it. Apparently the steak and ale pie was very good.

Did you know there’s a secret beach upstairs? It’s call The Cove and they serve cocktails at great prices! It’s open every night 8-12 serving a great range of cocktails and drinks. Go and have a peak after your tasty carvery from downstairs

We enjoyed a lovely meal. The service was excellent, in fact, they couldn't do enough for us. Superb value for money. I would definitely recommend the Beach.

Staff were lovely and when there was a problem with one of the vegetarian meals the manageress promptly corrected it to our satisfaction. Friendly atmosphere and amazing views of the lake and surrounding area 1

Lost my wallet in this establishment and would you believe it, it was handed to and kept behind the bar prior to being returned. This tells you all you need to know about both clientele and bar staff working on the premises. Thank you so much again, Emma, you're a star!

Too much pepper in the mashed potatoes, roast potatoes not cooked enough and Yorkshire was doughy

Undercooked meat on the carvery, spilled a cocktail and would not be replace this although half of it was watered down lemonade! Will not be returning. Waste of money.

I met a friend for lunch the pub was clean, staff friendly and chatty. We had warm salads abd chips which were fresh and tasty. We had a longer wait then anticipated though. Staff need a scanner to speed up the paying process when using discount QR codes.

I have been here before for sunday carvery and it was great. Today was a huge let down though. One guy on the carvery trying to do everything himself. He served the meet then said we had to wait for yorkshires. Moved on to serve yourself veg. Half the containers were empty as was the gravy. When we sked we were told they were waiting for potatoes and some other food to be cooked. Complete shambles. By the time I sat down with my food it was cold. What a shame! Wont go back. Update 11th April- Lovely lunch at the Beach today. Carvery was spot on. Lovely meal after a walk. Update 7th April 2024 - Another great Sunday lunch. Thank you

Sorry to say that I had a rump steak and it was really grisly. I couldn’t get through it even with a steak knife. I sent it back and they brought and but it wasn’t much better. My partner managed to eat most of it, on top of his carvery meal!! The others had fish and chips and that was ok.

Used to be good its terrible now, cold and poor quality food.

Didn't realise car park was free to patrons, usually I get the car park fee knocked off the meal at similar venues , so 3quid wasted. I try to eat smaller meals so we decided to both have the small carvery. The beef was dry , the roast potatoes overcooked and the rest of the meal tasteless except the gravey, which had a strange taste. Nobody enquired if we had enjoyed our meals even though my friends plate was almost full when the lady collected it. My friends stomach was rumbling when she got home Reminiscent of school dinners

Great popular place. If you walk around the lake (2.5 miles very flat easily done) you end up at the beach pub.Seemed rude not to pop in I didn't have any food but what I saw was very good value for money. You can have large,medium or small plates of food Sunday Roast was very popular The staff are helpful and friendly It is dog friendly. I'm definitely going to give the food a try upon my next visit to Hollingworth Lake

Food was good, service was nice and the place is pretty clean and quiet. Good menu selection and the price is great.

I’ve been lactose intolerant for about 20 years and never have I been to a restaurant where they’re not allowed to tell me if I can eat the food or not!! They have a lovely looking carvery but they say that the law has changed now and restaurants aren’t allowed to say if they use milk anymore and instead asked me to go through the chefs folder from the kitchen. After a good 10 mins of trying to work out what they used in the carvery we gave up!! We only popped it for a bite to eat, not a comprehension test…. It would be easier if there was an order or organisation to the magic file, bur it was just such a mess and impossible to know what’s what. I’m not sure what law has changed or where they’ve got this from, but it seems very short sighted to tell the staff it’s illegal to let customers with dietary needs know if there’s milk or butter on the roast potatoes.

Lovely reasonably priced carvery. Was very busy and understaffed but still the staff tried their best to look after you. Slight wait for food off the menu but seeing how busy it was it was understandable. Nice view over the lake. Would definitely return!

Some lovely staff there just the carvery let it down. All the meats were mainly dried up, the veg was also dried up, burnt or looked like it been there all day. Ordered pigs in blanket with our carvery they came out as we were ready to leave. Booked a table at 7:45 in the morning as had disable guests and they struggle with stairs to be then told that our table had been given to a large group that had just walked in leaving the only sensible option for us was up a few stairs which to many doesn't sound like much but to a person who struggles with sets this was a lot. The whole evening was a treat that my son had arranged and the only thing that saved the treat was ice cream from across the road!!!

Carvery was very poor. Only two types of meat, gammon extremely fatty. Only a few roast potatoes available and veg not tasty. Very disappointed

Came in for mother's Day, had pre drinks in the bar, then was shown to our table. Very good service, food lovely, and jagerbombs went down a treat!!🤣.. special shout out to Matt, we will be back next week!!

We went on a very busy mothers day. Food was great, except initially the carvery running low on some of the food, but once topped up they had plenty and it was all really nice. The staff were great and attentive, and a particular shout out to debbie who was really helpful when we needed an extra place setting. We will definitely be returning soon

Don't eat here, absolute garbage 😑Uncooked microwaved soggy food and on 3 separate occasions they messed up our drinks order. If your not a fan of dogs EVERWHERE or are allergic avoid the place all together!! Will never be back

Just got back from having a mother's day carvery everything was alright only thing wrong was carrots where hard everything else was amazing kids enjoyed there meals and desserts service with a smile from kalum roper and well done to Courtney for the kids food would recommend to friends and family

Was quiet when we went there in February, but judging by the number of tables, it must get rather busy. Yes, I would go there again.

Visited on the 28th of February with some friends for lunch. I had the cheese pie option for the carvery, had to wait a few minutes as they are made to order. It came out piping hot and there was plenty to choose from at the carvery. My friends had a hunters chicken and a bacon cheese burger. They enjoyed theirs too. Cheap and cheerful food with a lovely view.

We had a carvery and the service wasn’t good unfortunately. We waited at the food counter for the server to appear for ten minutes (on a Friday Lunchtime) before alerting bar staff who told kitchen staff we were waiting. There was no vegan option at all for carvery, vegetables only for the same price. Then when it was my mum’s turn to be served they assumed she was vegan as well and just gave her a plate without meat and walked away. She got her veg and waited another ten minutes for him to come back to ask him for meat! Also the quality of the vegetables were poor and did not enjoy it. The menus were very dirty. On a positive note, place was warm and toilets were clean. Nice view of lake.

Although the staff were very friendly and obviously trying very hard to be accommodating, the Fulll English Breakfast we had was positively the worst ever. The plates were stone cold therefore so was all the food and yet the mushrooms were burnt, as was the bacon. The sausage was full of cereal. However, the hash browns were good. So sorry to say this when the staff were trying so hard.

Walked around the lake and had a burger meal which was great and of course so much better than Macs. Carvery was also available but was not ready for a full on meal.

Sophie was serving us at the bar, and she made me a lovely cup of tea after a long drive that morning, she was very warm and friendly and made us feel welcome. We then had a banging carvery with beaut turkey and gammon, served by Darren - the roasties were amazing and Darren was brill. Thanks to everyone, the staff at The Beach pub are a credit to Greene King 👍🏻
