Booked our wedding reception for July 2024 here. Received an email yesterday saying the venue has unexpectedly closed, refund for deposit would be done. However phone number given is out of service and no reply to numerous emails and messages on other platforms. We are now out of pocket with 7 weeks to go to our wedding. Absolutely distraught.

I booked a venue for my son’s birthday party, scheduled for May 12th. I made the reservation back in January and paid £625 to the restaurant to secure it. Ten days before the party, I attempted to contact the restaurant to finalize details and order food, but they were unreachable. Upon visiting the restaurant, a staff member informed me that it would be closing the following week and that the party room had been vacant. Unfortunately, they couldn’t provide me with the owner’s contact information. I am extremely disappointed by this turn of events as it has disrupted my son’s party plans and reflects poorly on the restaurant's integrity towards its customers. I am unsure if I will be able to get my deposit back.

The worst experience we have ever had at what is supposed to be a decent London restaurant. I highly recommend NOT booking this place, especially if it will be difficult to find an alternative on the night (e.g. Saturday evenings). We booked through the restaurant website for 8pm on Saturday evening. We arrived on time. At that stage, it because clear that the restaurant hadn't actually bothered to reserve us a table. We were told to sit at the bar and have a drink whilst they tried to find us a table. At the bar, we tried for ~25 minutes to order a drink, but nobody came to serve us (despite us asking multiple times). When somebody finally came, the restaurant had no beer or cider, and very limited wine options. That person then walked away almost immediately without taking an order. It seemed under staffed, and at one point, two staff members appeared to have an argument right in front of us (one was actually leaning between my wife and I during the argument - all very awkward). By this stage, we still hadn't been seated. Given the huge delay, we thought it would take forever to get our food. People were also approaching the bar to ask for their bills, suggesting that everyone was having a shoddy experience. For these reasons, we decided to give up - I said to the bar man that I think we were going to leave - he replied with "I think that's a good idea"! Trying to find a table last minute at 8.30pm on a Saturday in Notting Hill was, of course a nightmare - not helped by the rain. In summary, the service was a total shambles, and nobody there seemed to care. It ruined our evening (and was embarrassing given that we were taking a family member out who had flown to London for the weekend). We certainly won't be going back.

It was truly the most disgusting brunch I have ever had. The bread was beyond stale and it was rock hard. It was almost as if it had been left out for 2 weeks. The waffles were worse than what you buy in Aldi. It was disgusting and drenched in jam (no berries despite it saying in the menu there are berries on there). The place is clearly about to be shut down and I hope it does! The bathroom needs a good clean.

Worst dining experience I've had. 1* experience for 4* price. They overcharged us, mistakenly allowing 3 guests to pay for the same dish they shared, and did not reply to complaint requesting refund, so basically theft. Food arrived late and some dishes just didn't arrive but they didn't tell us until the very end when everyone else was being served. Rude staff. No apology from the waiter at all, trying to justify it on having 'one chef' despite the fact I booked in advance for 12 for a special occasion. When I tried to complain to the staff at the bar, they hit on me and were being incredible unprofessional. Food was very sub-par despite expensive price tag.

Pros: - Good service - Delicious starters Cons - £200 for four people who only drank beers, shared two starters and ate one main each - Cold main courses (burgers and eggs florentine), terrible lumpy hollandaise and thick tough crumpets - Tired, old venue with cracks everywhere and dirty floor in restaurant - Filthy bathrooms, no loo roll - Absolutely deserted on a Sunday afternoon, we were only people in there so terrible vibe - Only two wines available on the wine list I’m sad as this used to be a fun, buzzy restaurant in a great location. It honestly feels like it’s about to get shut down. It needs a major refurbishment, new chef, new cleaner! If the service hadn’t been excellent we probably would have walked out before ordering.

Honestly so disappointing I wouldn’t bother. The visual appearance of the restaurant was really nice, we got greeted immediately and had a choice of where to sit since the restaurant was empty (first red flag). The waiter provided us with menus (we got advised there was no wine menu, just house wine), we waited for our drinks order to be taken for at least 20 minutes. Eventually we got our drinks, and another 15-20 mins later the waiter took our food order. Having clarified our order, the waiter even asked if we wanted everything to arrive together (which we did). I had to try and get the waiters attention to re order some more drinks (3 glasses of wine, which we waited for 20 mins to arrive, again). The waiter brought the wine all in his hands, as if carrying some pints for the lads. Eventually the food arrived after over an hour. Naturally the food didn’t come together - our friend had her food arrive 15-20 mins after the rest. The truffle arancini was dry and bland (didn’t taste like truffle), my friend got the cod curry which came with dry, crunchy and stale rice (the rest of the food wasn’t nice either tbh). Essentially for the price I would not recommend. During our stay, two couples arrived and left shortly after (assume since they weren’t served for at least 15-20 mins) (despite restaurant being empty) (two tables including us occupied). We had to ask for the bill twice, because naturally they didn’t bring it the first time. Honestly don’t waste your time or money here, I doubt this place will be open for much longer.

They don’t clean the area properly. There’s crockoaches and rat around the kitchen and bar. There’s only outside luxury but Inside it’s very unhygienic. The people who manage the place is very rude to customers and better not to go there there’s better options in nothing hill

I'd wanted to visit this restaurant for ages, so after a trip to Portobello Market, we headed there for brunch. Unfortunately, the whole experience was very disappointing. The place looked scruffy from the outside. The big lamps were wonky and there was no overt signage on the awning or door and rubbish was blowing across the terrace outside. Once inside, we had further indications of the lack of professionalism we were going to experience. It was a warmish, sunny day but in the four fireplaces, the imitation gas fireplaces were going full blast which made it way too hot. Our breakfast tea was brought up in nice teapots but we were given bistro glasses to drink from because 'they didn't have enough cups & saucers'. This was around 1.30pm and there were around 15 people in the restaurant and three servers that we could see. Because we couldn't hold the glasses, we insisted and were given mismatching cups and saucers of different sizes and colours. After seeing one meagre piece of toasted sourdough with mashed avocado arrive on the neighboring table (£14.95 seems way too high for one slice), we opted for the cooked breakfast which was decent . But it was clear that the chef had no clue how to scramble eggs. They'd clearly cooked the bog standard fried egg and then just broken it up. There were three serving staff and they didn't seem to have a clue. They didn't come back and check if everything was okay, you had to get up and go ask them for help. They just didn't seem to care. Everything seemed too much effort, which makes me question the levels of hygiene too. Avoid the toilets if you do go here - they were dank and smelly with water all over the floor and no toilet paper. Such a disappointing experience.

Two months ago I organised my 28th birthday party at Beach Blanket Babylon and paid a £500 deposit to their main company, Kitchen Labs, as assurance of attendance. However, despite fulfilling our part of the agreement by attending the event, they have shockingly failed to refund the deposit. Despite numerous attempts (at least 15) to contact them via email and phone, they have left me hanging, with no response or explanation. The only positive aspect was my point of contact’s attempt to assist, though ultimately powerless in resolving the issue. This lack of communication and unjust retention of funds is unacceptable. I am now going to pursue legal action against Kitchen Labs for their unethical behaviour. It’s evident they are withholding money without cause, which is not only unfair but also illegal. Until they rectify this situation and prioritise honest dealings with customers, I strongly advise against going to Beach Blanket Babylon.

I've been coming to BBB for 15 years and walked in over the weekend to meet with shockingly empty eery space, usually packed on the weekends, it was silent.. I wondered if they were even open. they must be under management, I never seen the 3 guys on the floor, at 2pm, the entire drinks glasses from the night before were on the bar counter sitting dirty.. asked for a Bloody Mary, was told it cant be made. Food was ok, the chef seems nice, but the service was atrocious. what a shame.. but wont be visiting again. they will close very soon anyway if the empty space is to go by.

Came here for a friend’s 18th and was very disappointed with the service. Nothing had been prepared properly. The food had been preordered with special requests and this was not followed when we got there. For example, one person who can’t eat cheese and requested no cheese was given a meal with cheese plus many other errors with the orders. They only told us when we arrived that there was no wine even though we had pre-ordered it and we were given a couple random bottles that were not what was ordered and they reluctantly agreed to give us aperol spritzes without any Prosecco. Service was horrible, will not be returning.

Went here for my friends 18th - terrible experience there was one waiter for the whole restaurant including two private parties. The prepaid wine had not arrived. We were ment to have cocktails to choose from but were informed that we could only have aperol spritz (these didn’t even contain Prosecco) the table was not fully laid and was overall a v stressful experience and not enjoyable at all.

It was the worst experience we have ever had hosting a Party. We have rented out their Ballroom and had 80 guests. We have planned this party for over 5 months with a face to face meeting and over 20 emails have been exchanged to make this day special for our son. Unfortunately nothing of what we have discussed was delivered. We have by chanced arrived 1 hour before the start of Party to be welcomed by smoke coming from kitchen, 1 waiter who new nothing about the party or its set up or where our cake is and a room empty not set up as discussed. We had to bring tables and chairs into the room ourselves and set the table. 1 waiter catering for 80 guests is just unacceptable. Food was delayed and food was missing. Pre-payed Alcoholic drinks were not there we had to go out ourselves and buy drinks. And the best part is that neither on the day nor till this moment have we heard back from the Management team. I could not reach anybody and nobody has replied to our emails. This will now be taken care of by our legal team. Please avoid this place at all cost if you want to have a nice, calm stress free Party. People who treat a family like that , take their money in full and leave them hanging on the day should not work in hospitality.

I regret to say that my Valentine's Day experience at this restaurant was nothing short of disastrous. Despite being informed by the waiter that their kitchen fan was broken, they proceeded to cook steaks, causing smoke to fill the restaurant like a fire. This led to discomfort and even health issues for my nephew, who has asthma. The staff's attitude was appalling - rude and indifferent to our concerns. To top it off, they even encouraged me to leave a negative review as a form of revenge against the owner. Absolutely unacceptable. Steer clear of this establishment unless you want to risk your health and endure terrible service.

Go, take a picture, then leave. The food was incredibly overpriced, cold. I had mushroom truffle tortellini that came in some tasteless watery sauce. It took us 1.5 hours to get our food. They forgot that one dish was on the menu when we ordered and only realised when the food was arriving, so someone went without food. The kitchen also blew up some smoke when we were there and it was almost choking.

Doesn’t even deserve a star. The waiter took orders for drinks then left our table half way - he then came back after 30 mins and brought the drinks when half of the table hadn’t even ordered. He was inattentive and was almost forced to serve us. Also 70% of the cocktails on the menu were ‘out of stock’ and one plate came 20 minutes before everyone elses. Went a couple days ago, extremely disappointed. Had heard this place was the place to go several years ago - not anymore. The interior is the coolest I have ever seen but the ownership is really letting everyone down. Quarter of menu not available, no mayonaise, salt came in bowl pea sized chunks - had to hand grind it ourselves. Ordered 2 sauvignon blancs only to get back 1 sauvignon blanc and one rose as they had none left. Papaer mcdonalds napkins and tablecloth not fully across table, lazy and unporfessional. Staff underpaid and overworked. Impossible to contact for bookings etc had to go ourselves, letting themselves down!

One of the worst dining experiences of my life occurred recently. I went for dinner with a large group, and it took the staff nearly 20 minutes to bring us the menus, even though the restaurant was empty. The first indication of a terrible experience was that each of us received a menu listing different items. After we ordered, it took 35 minutes for them to inform us that they didn’t have half of the items we requested. This was a clear case of complete miscommunication and a total waste of time. We simply stood up and left. Never have I encountered a worse restaurant in Notting Hill.

The menu was a surprisingly limited one (not the website menu), with really simple brunch items. Though no explanation why this menu was the only one served was offered Mild disappointment soon became disbelief, the restaurant clearly had an issue with food supply and staff. So our 45min wait for simple dishes was due to the floor manager needing to run to Tesco to buy eggs and bread.. yes, you read that right! The staff were not particularly welcoming, but it could be due to their embarrassment that they’re opening to paying customers given the dining experience on offer Would avoid until BBB has a lick of paint, working radiators and a menu they can actually deliver. Save your money and go to Tesco… like the floor manager did!

Je met une étoile pour dire que… 2h pour manger, repas très moyen, 2h pour manger et après on te fait comprendre qu’il faut libérer la table parce que du monde arrive… personne est venu mais nous avons dû quitter la table! Rapport qualité prix, nul, frais de service, équivalent à 80€ alors qu’on nous a jeter les assiettes sur la table! Seul point positif, le cadre est sympa et athipique! Je ne conseille pas cet endroit!

We’ve been to this place so many times but I never imagined we could be so dissapointed. We had booked for 3 people on the 24th of Dec, arrived on time, the place looked like it was closing down, there was no music playing. Then we got the menus, we said where’s the music and then we were told oh someone’s going to sing live which turned out to be a joke, which is completely fine. My dirty martini came with black olives, so weird. Then at some point the waiter approached us and told us that the internet is down, they can only take cash. We asked for directions to the nearest atm machine, turned out to be a 10 min walk so I suggested to the waiter that we wire the money using the restaurant’s bank details. Suddenly we were able pay using our cards. This whole experience felt so unpleasant. So underwhelming as if we’re in a work canteen having lunch. Not going back there. So terrible.

Private events are a no no at this venue, we have had the worst experience for my daughters 21st birthday. The food was tasteless and the service was so slow, they were understaffed and no one was there to take charge. It was actually an embarrassing evening for us as hosts!

My recent visit to Beach Blanket Babylon was a complete disaster. Service lacked professionalism and courtesy from the start. We made a reservation for drinks and snacks, only to find out the kitchen was closed until 6 pm, information conveniently omitted during the reservation. Our reserved table was not honored, and when we raised the issue with the manager, he engaged in dishonesty, accusing us of lying. The incompetence, disrespect, and dishonesty are unacceptable. I have no intention of returning and will share this negative experience with others. Beach Blanket Babylon does not uphold basic customer service principles—look elsewhere for a better dining experience.

Fabulous food and atmosphere but the service is severely lacking…. A quiet Saturday lunch, lots of staff who seemed to be so busy with everything other than looking after their customers. It’s such a shame that this wonderful place is not being managed by anyone who wants to deliver an amazing (or even a good) customer experience.

A beautiful venue and I imagine great for a drink but so let down by the lack of service or care or even interest in the paying guest, wine menu had very little choice as most were unavailable, missing parts to the meals and no explanation from the server , had to ask to see the Chef who finally admitted they did not have what was needed but obviously thought they could get away with it ! Finally agreeing to do a salad to go with our half missing dish , which was lovely . Such a shame as what we did have was really nice but unfortunately left feeling ripped off , and they really didn’t seem bothered.

Horrible service. We were told they didnt have eggs for brunch, only because they wanted us to purchase the more expensive a la carte menu. Service was rude and slow. They had water leekage from the ceiling and no toilet paper in the bathroom. We had to stand up and leave the restaurant. Do not recommend.

Went there to get a cocktail. With no reservation, you get a place at the bar - this is typical London, even if the tables will be available for an hour and you specify that you only want to stay 30-45 mins, you don't get the privilege of the table. I couldn't order a cocktail because "we don't have this cocktail" (I mean a cocktail is made of different ingredients, you can offer an alternative option...). Tried to order gin and tonic but they didn't have tonic. Ordered rum and cola but they only had white rum not dark rum. I thought it was a joke at this point, a cocktail bar that has no tonic water (and I don't get offered soda or lime or something) and no dark rum. Reading other reviews this looks like it is a common theme. This is just bad for a business. It's unacceptable not to have basic things on a Saturday evening - in London! You can go and shop in any off license shop...

I held my birthday party in the Ballroom of this venue. I have sent them a private complaint following the event but still haven't received a response in 2 weeks. My complaint was about the food situation at my party, of 50 people, 10 per table. I ordered 2 portions of multiple dishes for each table. Only one plate was brought for each dish. When I told them they told me that it was double portions per plate. I think it is a very unthoughtful thing to do for a table of 10. I was not warned this would be the case beforehand, I would have appreciated the opportunity to ask them not to do this. It meant that some people got to eat most the food but the other side of the table did not get anything. The portions looked very small, and even if it was double portions, I don’t understand how 2 portions of one meal would fit into the same size plate for one portion, and how this would be properly measured. In either way I thought it was very unprofessional and it caused be incredible amounts of stress for me on the night. The vegan meals were not consulted with me upon arrival and given to random tables. This meant that the vegan people did not get any of their meals and could not eat anything at all on the night. Neither Tansie or Tim, the only two people I spoke to before the event, were anywhere to be seen throughout the night. The meze platter was not well presented, with each of the dips oozing into each other, not ideal for people who have intolerances/allergies. I would have appreciated these being served in different bowls to give it more of a sharing feel for a table of ten people. The meals were not introdcued/ explained when they were put on the table, a basic expectation at any nice restaurant. None of these details were considered. Honestly the food situation kind of ruined my night. As the cherry on top, when one of my friends was having a cigarette downstairs, she heard the staff in the kitchen, complaining about the number of plates that they were bringing upstairs. She overheard them saying to each other to just ditch the plates anywhere. Obviously when there was barely and food delivered upstairs, this makes me very concerned. We discussed the food order beforehand, and I asked for pictures of the meals numerous times but never received. I would have appreciated a head up that the food was way too little for the number of people. Everyone left hungry and the tiny number of plates which came through was honestly just embarrassing. I expected a high-class restaurant to have managed the situation much better, but everyone I tried to speak to on the night to sort it out were extremely unhelpful. We had a private bar in our part of the venue, which I thought would work well for people to buy their own drinks. The cocktails took very long to make so there was always a queue of people waiting for drinks. They also added a service charge of 20% every time someone ordered a drink, so the amount they paid ended up being more than the listed price. This again was something I was not warned of. The actual room is beautiful and it would have been the perfect place to have my party if it wasn't for these management issues I faced. I suggest if you are planning a party here, to have a very detailed conversation with the venue about how you want everything done, and somehow make sure this is actually carried out on the night.

Our booking had been cancelled by the restaurant less than hour before we arrived so didn't know this in our way into London. The ovens had broken but they sent an automated email which we didn't receive until later. Two of our group are disabled and having made the effort to get there we were tired and hungry. If there was a problem, they should've phoned so they knew we knew. Very disappointed as my wife had booked this as my birthday celebration and we were being joined by friends abroad. They were not particularly apologetic or helpful when we turned up.

I don’t usually leave reviews but for such a beautiful restaurant the service and food quality was terrible. I specifically asked for a regular margarita cocktail and received a spicy margarita with pieces of OLD chillis floating around. The food wasn’t great either. My friend asked the waiter to please go and double check with the kitchen if there were any anchovies in the Ceaser salad. The waitress checked with the kitchen and they confirmed that there are not. Lo and behold, there are full anchovies in the salad. Once we wanted to order dessert they gave us the menu but then told us all they had on the menu were brownies. They often seem to run out of options on the menu… all staff seemed very new and young but nobody seemed to know what they were doing.

A horrible time, cannot even compare this to any other similar experience, nothing was even close. Not just London. Anywhere. 1. Upon arrival I ask if I can be seated inside and the request was denied. When I went to the bathroom, I saw at least 10 empty tables. 2. Since it was a birthday, we wanted to toast with 2 glasses of sparkling wine. We did not receive the drinks until the end of the dinner, so we only drank water. 3. The service was extremely slow, even dismissive. The waitress was hanging out at the table with her friends, ignoring us, who tried to place an order. 4. I had to stand up from my table several time, to walk to the bar to try and get the order for the drinks sorted (with no success). 5. We tried to order items listed on the menu but we found out several items were not even available ("We ran out of sirloin". After placing the order, we waited for several minutes to get 2nd piece of the news "We ran ouf of Ribeye as well"). 6. The portions are small. After dinner we left hungry. 7. At 10PM apparently the outside area needs to be closed, so we were kicked out without prior warning: "Apologies, we need to close out the area". When I said I need to wait for my Uber for additional 2 minutes, the gentleman suggested I have to leave immediately and I cannot wait for additional 2 minutes.

We were asked to leave the restaurant because we were Arab. We have never experienced such racism and bad treatment. The manager yelled at us and kicked us out. We have been coming here for years and came today for a special occasion having booked 2 weeks in advance - he then said we can’t do anything for you you’re not as important as the others. (Who were European and came after us) we are extremely shocked and left shaking. Just as an FYI the restaurant response is just a stunt they never reached out or anything. Terrible establishment. It’s appalling how they condone disrespect, racism and horrible treatment of anyone who is not white and British.

Wij hadden hier gereserveerd voor 6 personen. Er stonden geen tafels klaar toen we aankwamen. Het duurde ontzettend lang voordat ons eten/drinken kwam en was ook nog eens super duur. By far the most awful dining experience. After 2.5 of waiting for food when we went to complain the manager and staff who were clearly stressed out by the shortness of staff decided to take it out on us and other diners. This followed with one member of staff making threats towards a customer. There is nothing good about this place and I would avoid it at all costs. Not even worthy of one star.

Was really looking forward to this however was extremely disappointed. Firstly, we were not greeted upon arrival. We were ignored by the barmen and were not offered a drink or our reserved seating. We were the only ones at the bar at this point. It took about 5-10 minutes to even be spoken to by any staff. Once seated they put us right in the middle of the walkway where all the party goers were barging past. We were there for a romantic meal and felt completely ignored and misplaced. We felt they only cared about the functions happening in the venue and not regular paying customers. Food was good. Service very poorly run. Would not recommend especially with these prices. Take yourself to the ritz instead.

The fact that the menu had typos on it unfortunately did not put us off, and I proceeded to order an English breakfast tea, a rhubarb Bellini and French toast. My toast (fried bread which was disgusting) arrived 40 minutes later...which was actually ten minutes before my Earl Grey Tea and an elderflower Bellini thing.... My friends did get their correct drinks, but the Bloody Mary’s had no tobasco/woster sauce/salt as they had run out- but don’t worry! They included angastora bitters instead! Phew. All in all the 3 things I ordered were incorrect, and the service was poor and one server with real attitude (others were nice). I normally hate to complain but this was not cheap and I do not want anyone to waste their money. For a drink in the evening this place is great however.

I Came to Pepperon cafe with my baby son and the girls working were so helpful and friendly, offered us a baby seat and scrambled eggs for my little one. I had the Canadian breakfast and Cappuccino and by far best pancakes I have ever had. Made fresh! Highly recommend this place, my go to in London.

Staff are great, fab service - efficient and friendly. Food okay but it is TOO LOUD in there. Why do they play the music so unbelievably loud? Makes it impossible to hear your dinner party guests without shouting, it’s like eating in a nightclub but in daylight. My throat hurts from shouting over the music. Twice we asked the waiter to get the DJ to turn down the music. This improved the atmosphere immediately, but the DJ increased it yet again. Please, Ours, control your DJ. It would have been a 5 star review from me if not for that.

I had to ask for my order, the toasts were brought to me, I had to ask for the rest, the scones were finally brought.....while other customers who arrived well after me were finishing their meals!! ! The tea ordered only arrived after asking for the bill and pointing out that I didn't get it....bad experience, spending my time Le Bras en l'air to question the waiters, all for reasons avocados on toast, nothing too complicated.
