Beach in Rochdale

Great service from Debbie, and good food as always. If you're looking for a cost worthy meal with a view, The Beach is the place to go. Thank again guys and gals!!

Very disappointed to have visited here near the end of last month with my daughter. I paid £4 for a stay of a little more than a hour to find that I got a car parking charge penalty letter which said that my permit didn't cover the date and time of stay. Because the parking company's letter has arrived over a week and a half of the dad in question, that means my appeal time is vastly shortened and only have until next Tuesday to appeal. Very disappointing and upsetting situation for what should have been a happy visit to the pub. They really need to rethink this car parking system.

Whilst in the area called for food at 8pm on Friday night. We eat out a lot and as this place is cheap we didn’t have high expectations. The staff were efficient and helpful. The pub was clean after a busy sunny day by the lake. Drinks were cheap, all most Wetherspoons prices. The food was ok, not great a cuisine but for the price it was pretty decent. If you want gourmet food go pay gourmet prices. This was cheap and good value for money. No complaints and will use again.

Had breakfast today, the 1st Nd last time. 2 x ultimate and 1 standard full breakfast. 2 half full cups of tea and drink of orange juice £29.70 !! Sausages was way over cooked, bouncy and like they'd been in a deep fat fryer about 6 times! ( brought home for my dog) Mushrooms, tasteless Bacon, stringy, overcooked and salty Toast was crispy but without colour..butter splodged in the middle of it. It's honestly the worst breakfast we have ever had, shame as we live 5 mins walk away. I should have gone to the Olive and pickle and spent my £30 there! Do yourself. Favour and don't bother !

Called in for lunch after a walk round the lake , was greeted my a lady ( which we found out was called Debbie , went above and beyond for us ) that shown us to are seat , carvery was delicious with a great choice and amazing prices , will definitely be returning

We had a reunion with friends and decided to try this pub. We had the carvery, which during the week is served until 2.30. There were small, medium or large plates at very reasonable prices. We had a medium with the choice of three meats. You could have any combination of turkey, ham or beef, I chose one of each. There was a good selection of vegetables and three types of potatoes. You could have pigs in blankets for an extra price. I found I could just manage the medium plate and really enjoyed it. There was a lovely member of staff who greeted us and explained the system. She was very helpful & friendly without being overpowering. By buying a meal there we had free parking so we were able to go for a walk after. We shall certainly come back here.

Well, finally a carvery that deserves praise. Unbelievable yorkies, perfectly seasoned mash, gorgeous parsnips. I honestly can't fault it. Dont lose that chef or you could lose reviews like this. I believe his name was Lewis. Very happy customer 😀

Great location and staff were excellent. Really helpful in ordering and helping with celebrations as it was a family birthday. The cavery was quick and efficient with good choice.

Had a wonderful family get-together for Father's Day and my Mum’s Birthday. We had a lovely time and the staff couldn't do enough for us. Lewis on the carvery was amazing and it was hands down the best carvery we have had in a while would come back here again and would not hesitate to recommend

Went out for a family meal it’s was very busy. I choose the carvery option which I wouldn’t recommend. The mash had never seen a potato , meat dry & veg undercooked. Couldn’t not eat wouldn’t recommend. Only decent thing was my sons children’s meal. Disappointing

Visited this afternoon for some lunch after coming off the motorway. We had the katsu curry and 3 of the small plates. The food was hot and fresh and didn't take long to arrive. Staff at the bar were very attentive and made sure to ask how the food was. Will definitely return

Ordered food at bar at 6:50 only writing this review because I’m sat here bored still waiting for food at 8:10. Not overly busy plenty of free tables. Ordered ultimate mixed grill only to be told we have no steak. (Also no carvery available) Food has just arrived not hot at all, tepid at best. Just heard another customer ask for his burger to be warmed up as it was cold. Waitress was very apologetic and although it’s only pub grub, I’ve had hotter tastier food from the butty wagon on Fishwick St !!! Never Again!!!

first visit today. Must comment on how exceptionally friendly all the staff were. The guy behind the bar, the guy on the carvery, the lady who came to check that our food was ok, and a further lady who we asked about parking. Two of us had the carvery, one scampi and chips, the meals were good.

My wife and I are regulars here and the carvery never disappoints. Choice of Ham, Turkey and Beef loads of choice on the veg, and Yorkshire Puddings are the best. We have never had a bad meal here, so if you are in the area, it's well worth a visit and the bill won't be high. Also got to say a word about the staff who are friendly and helpful. We will be back again

Sat 6th April - food was delicious + hot. Sun 14th April - food was less than average + not hot. Can only presume they were different chefs. We ate the carvery at 1pm ish. I don't think we'll eat again on a Sunday but maybe a Saturday when the other chef is on.

Avoid this place like the plague unless you come without a car: My wife and I visited here on the 31st of march to enjoy a drink and a walk by the lake: I paid the euro car park machine in the Beach public house car park for 3 hours and stayed approximately 2 hours and 20 minutes thinking I was absolutely covered with the time: Only to find a week later I received a parking fine of £100 for exceeding “2” hours, as stated I paid extra for “3” hours, totally disgusting: Be Very careful on leaving your car in the Beach public house car park even if like me you paid for extra hours: I most certainly will not return here: Spoiled a mostly enjoyable day.

We went for the carvery. Had gammon … slimy and undercooked. My daughter had the turkey again undercooked. The rest of the meal was awful to,burnt roasts and parsnips but mushy veg. The gravy and mash was nice. Would not recommend.

We took our dog a walk around the lake, it was awful weather ,when we came back i realised id lost my phone! Im so lucky some kind man had handed it into the beach pub ,the 2 gentlemen behind the bar were so kind and returned it to me , Myself and my boy had a lovely lunch and drinks and a game of pool ,dried off and warmed up ,i would definatly recommend ,good food and great service !! My husband and I went for a lovely walk around the lake and then decided to go for lunch . We decided on the carvery . Gammon and turkey were lovely and all the vegetable were fresh and beautifully cooked .The soft drinks were reasonable too . Would recommend. Another great Green King Pub where the staff are friendly and the whole experience is good. The view of the lake is also fabulous.

Staff were welcoming and warm. Special credit for Charlotte whom helped me with my order as explained the process as it was our first time. My fish was over cooked and well as my chips.

Scott looked after us extremely well - the service here is always very friendly and personal. Had the carvery as usual and as usual it was very tasty.

Carvery was spot on. Customer service leaves alot to be desired. My friend hadn't added a pram to our booking as we didn't know we needed too. Was made to feel like an idiot for having my 6 week old baby with us, however we made it work and parked him out of the way of other customers as he slept. As soon as we sat down the same woman made a point that we needed to be gone for three because the Liverpool game was on, it was 1pm and we hadn't even ordered yet as we had just sat down. Gentleman who serves the carvery needs to learn some manners, I'd have thought in this day and age if you are polite to someone you receive it back but I guess not!

Stopped in for some food after a walk around the lake. Whilst the staff were all extremely friendly, we found there to be a huge delay when ordering using the app. Wish we had just got off our lazy bums and gone to the bar....

Absolutely disgusting! Worse carvery I’ve ever had. No taste and under cooked couldn’t even eat it. Funny stale smell I think it’s the carpets!! Don’t even waste ur money I spent £60 on food for me and my family and none of us ate it

Excellent food at an reasonable price. Friendly staff. No too busy. Good deals on some of the drinks. Nice pub and bar and would definately recommend to anyone visiting Hollingworth Lake.

My family and I came for Christmas dinner. Everything was perfect. Food, drink, staff and atmosphere. Just lovely.

The atmosphere was very welcoming from the moment we walked in, the bar staff engaged with my child so she felt really included. We ordered food and drinks, the food was really nice - especially the crispy chilli beef small plate! Brill value for money - I will definitely visit again.

Firstly what a dreadful start to the Christmas holidays I booked October 26th to make sure myself, my 2 daughters and 2 granddaughters could have a nice evening out I booked the 20th as it advertised carol singers we were not the only people expecting them several groups came in and the staff looked at them and us with blank expressions. After waiting 15 minutes we were shown to our table then had to queue up for another 15 minutes to order drinks. For the starters the kids garlic bread were 4 crusts each with a red water like dip. Despite paying a supplement for 2 steak fondue there was no cranberry or dressed salad but at this point we were just starving the youngest in tears. The carvery was all dried up and it was impossible to even cut through the Yorkshire puddings they were like bricks. The person serving the carvery insisted we ordered pigs in blankets even though I said I didn't then carried 3 pale stringy sausage over and left them on the table when we said we didn't want them. Followed 30 minutes later by 4 deserts. What is the point of pre ordering? Having paid a £21 deposit the bill was £49.95 remaining plus our drinks 8 soft drinks. However we were charged for 4 unwanted and uneaten pigs in blankets, a desert that was not even ordered. When we queried this with the only 2 staff members were useless and after 45 minutes with 2 very tired and fed up children he finally gave us £11 and some change but would not return the receipt to me. Awful experience.

Following a cold and wet brisk walk around Hollingworth Lake we warmed up with a few warm drinks followed by a lovely carvery at The Beach. My wife and I opted for different meats and both thoroughly enjoyed our meals. The staff were polite and service was quick. My son somehow had room for a desert which he also demolished. Will definitely return, maybe without the walk next time.

I've been to the Beach - Pub & Carvery a few times for drinks and I have to say that it's an great place to have drinks by the lake after a walk. The atmosphere is relaxed and chilled. The drinks are all reasonably priced, and they have a large selection of beers, ciders, cocktails, and other alcoholic beverages. The bar staff are very friendly and intuitive, always putting in the extra effort to make sure you have a great experience. I would definitely recommend the Beach

We visit a few times per month and the food is consistently good, the service is speedy and the staff are great with my young daughter. Can’t ask for much more! The play area and beer garden is great for summer, too.
