Such a shame a few years ago this place was great and we recommended to many but from the bad reviews I can see it's gone down hill but didn't check before this .We ordered about 8.30pm called at 9.40pm to check where it was as website said 40 mins and Guy on the phone said it just left with the driver which wasn't a problem , 30 mins later we checked again as we live in waterloville so only 5 mins from the restaurant . Guy had not a clue where it gone and advised we probably won't be recieving it was 10.20 pm by this time .When my partner asked for a refund as we spent over £50 they said they couldn't give us one even if we came down to the restaurant and had to go through some email to request it . Very poor service, I understand things happen but the customer service of not receiving your meal after 2 hours and advised it's probably not coming and no refund or resolution is shocking .. I'm afraid we wont be ordering again and advising others the same , zero star if I could Update - over a month later and no refund - manager keeps fobbing us off with an email address which never replies . Please avoid if you don't want to be scammed out of money

I am not there mate as she called me. And according to the manager they are shutting down in 2 days I’m not surprised I genuinely hope that they are shutting down and the staff and managers never find employment again if that’s the level of customer service they provide.

Ordered at 5.00pm on a Monday, delivery time was by 6.06. We called at 6.20 as it still hadn’t arrived. Eventually arrived 15 minutes later. Some of the food was warm, but some was missing. Called up, but they were not willing to deliver them, but said they would refund, they didn’t bother to do this.

Shocking delivery, service and communicate, not worth the effort

So I order via w&h eats at 3pm called them at 4:15pm (apps said 40mins wait) someone pick up the phone and just said hello so had to ask if I had the right number lol then I asked where my order was and they said the app has just got a driver coming to us now(could of said that on the app but no) finally arrived by 4:30 the food wasent to bad burger was a bit basic no salad or sauce 5 out of 10

Not sure I understand the latest 1-star reviews, but I'm glad we ordered from BBQ Boss. The food came in less than 20 minutes, and was piping hot. Both burgers were very tasty, and their chips was also amazing. Thanks guys!

OMG. What a rip off. Boss burger a thin beef? patty, Brisket burger had brisket the size and weight of a single pringle. No salad, no cheese, no pickles in a cheap own label soggy bun. Fries were cold, with two squares of plastic cheese and more salt that the Dead Sea! £32 for a pathetic excuse of a “meal”. Have emailed trading standards. NOT ACCEPTABLE. #ripoff Britain

Waited 1hr 40 mins for food to be delivered

What a shame left a five star review two years ago. Now would not go back. Food just ok, nothing special. But main problem missing item from our order. Phoned, told to get refund from Havant & Waterlooville eats whose app we used to place order. No option to get our missing item. Sorry not using again.

Just don’t bother. This place used to do good burgers (although expensive), but the last couple of times I’ve ordered it’s been cold, took ages to arrive or just didn’t turn up at all. The most recent delivery was a disaster. I ordered, two hours went by so I called (5 or 6 times until they answered) and they said it was out for delivery. No apology at all. Another 40 minutes passed so I called multiple times again and they changed the story and said they hadn’t sent it as the milkshake machine was broken but the number I had given was incorrect so the couldn’t call and tell me. Sounds like bull to me, and is the answer to just do nothing until I rang them? They have my email. Do they really expect me to believe they cooked the food, had it ready to deliver, then just binned it because they couldn’t do the milkshakes? The most irritating part is that during both calls the woman called me “mate” continuously and wasn’t bothered in the slightest. Do yourself a favour and get a maccies for a third of the price.

I ordered via Havant & Waterloo eats and no delivery. Called BBQ Boss and they said H&WE hadn't sent a driver. They said I could order directly with them which I did. No delivery! Half an hour after my delivery was due an 34 (yes thirty four!!!!) phone calls later, finally "the driver left 5 minutes ago". I appreciate Saturday night will be their busiest night, but if you can't fulfil a service, DON'T OFFER IT!!!! Appalling

Everyone used to rave about this place but I’m wondering why now? Food an hour late, no salad (both times when ordering) cost £33 for two burgers and some plane chips??? Forgot my drink which I paid for too. First time I thought “maybe they’re busy and ran out” so I gave them the benefit of the doubt but second time too? So bad. Don’t bother with it.

Have ordered takeaway from here a number of times. Past experiences have always been good however recently the place has gone downhill. Burger arrived soggy on the bottom and didn't taste as good as it usually does. Changed the recipe of the chicken wings, which is fine but would be helpful for this to be noted on the app. Hope you can restore back to your previous standards.

The reason for no stars is due to the fact waiting for a delivery trying to contact and they and disconnecting the call. Absolutely shocking place won’t be using again

Food took overview1.50 when it was stated if would be 1.20. Upon arrival after 2 calls to check on progress. The fries were inedible as someone had emptied the salt shaker on them!! The rest of the food was edible but definitely not the best I’ve had from here.

Absolutely awful. They witheld my order for half an hour because they didn't have chicken wings and wanted me to confirm on the phone that was okay. What they didn't tell me on the phone was they also didn't have milkshake which was written on the receipt saying 'sorry no milkshake'. There was also no coleslaw so idk what happened there. Way too pricey for the food we got as what did arrive is kind of bad quality, chips too salty, Mac and cheese is like plastic American cheese sauce. Brisket is overdone. Now I have to wait forever for justeat to decide they believe me before I can get a refund. Will not be getting 'food' here again, so disappointed as it cost so much and after ordering at 7pm it's turned up at 9pm barely warm and half of it missing.

We ordered last night we had over cooked dry unable to eat or cut ribs we had just convinced my wife to try them so we were very upset again no beans no problem last week no ribs or beans which were on menu which we substituted we were just going to let it go and never order there again but as previous meals had been good we thought we would see how this order could leave unchecked which did not give us confidence to order again regards

Updated review a year later: Had to take some stars off the review and update review after a few disappointing experiences within the last year. Probably won't be ordering from here again as the last 2 times there hasn't been any gluten free buns which was the main reason I'd order from here. Instead of a refund for the burger, after we asked about it, we were offered free cans of fizzy drinks (doesn't quite make up for it!). The app said the order was ready for us to collect but when we got there the order hadn't even been started. We opted to collect as the last couple of times we've ordered the delivery took ages. so although the food is still ok it's generally been disappointing and to top it the prices have increased quite a lot. It's a shame when we used to love it here and recommend it to friends. Original review: I don't know anywhere else that does a a greasy burger that is both gluten free and vegan - it was so delicious. I double checked that it was true! My husband got a beef burger and he also said it was great. Highly recommend, especially if you are vegan/vegetarian or gluten free and miss having a burger van style burger.

Twice forgotten things on my order then you get messed around for a refund

We’ve ordered from here multiple times and the food is consistently good. They only let themselves down with slow delivery times as they are always later than specified. Last ordered was estimated at 45 minutes but, in the end, took nearly double that. This is a bit of a running theme. If they could improve their deliveries then it would be 5* from me.

Ordered through uber eats and the restaurant cancelled my order stating "customer called to cancel" leading to uber eats still charging. If I could give less than one star I would. Avoid at all cost.

Expensive and staff don’t know prices over phone when asked when making a order and tell you to check website work out what you what then call back and I found that quite rude however the food does taste good to be honest I recommend pulled pork and chips and chicken burger, better to get as a meal £ wise.

Normally really enjoy the food from here ,but tonight was 2 hours for delivery (didn't tell us that when ordered?)!food was cold and the milkshakes we paid 10 pound for 2 were pure icey water and no flavour where they've been sat in a car for god knows how long !! So disappointed not cheap food

SCAM Use to be good now , the food never arrives and they wont pick up the phone. im not sure of its under new managment recently? But please dont order here. Spent 2 hours waiting like idiots to know go whitout dinner. Also terriffed of it arriving at 11 pm as have 2 sleeping babies ! Awful communication at least confirm its not going to arrive.

First time trying BBQ Boss tonight. Ordered online and waited for an hour and a half, nothing turned up, no contact from them whatsoever. Restaurant ignored our calls and messages. Currently having to go through Uber Eats to try and resolve the matter. Really poor!

Ordered through Uber eats and didn’t turn up. Tried to ring the restaurant multiple times with no answer, finally after an hour and a half (after being told 30-40 mins) Uber cancelled the order as they couldn’t get hold of the lm either. No idea of the quality of food, so can’t comment on that, but if the service is anything to go by, then I wouldn’t hold out much hope.

We waited one hour and forty five minutes for our food to be delivered. It was cold, pretty tasteless once it had been microwaved back to an edible temperature. Items were missing from our order. I called up and didn't even receive an apology. BBQ Boss need to do a lot better than this, we won't be ordering again.

Disgusting, cheap ingredients in a soaking wet inedible bun. Chip portions 1/2 the size they used to be for the same money. Very expensive tat. Such as shame as it used to be lovely.

Food Luke warm at best wouldn’t order again very expensive for Luke warm food . Needed to put in microwave once delivered considering I live not even a mile away no excuse for warm food

We had a couple of burgers and two portions of loaded fries, all super tasty! The Boss'coff cheesecake was also to die for. Highly recommended.

Macaroni cheese, jalapeño and salsa fries arrived with no macaroni or jalapeños. Informed complaints mailbox - no reply. Ordered again tonight. Mentioned in the comments about last experience, asked for a discount or voucher. Again no macaroni again, but MEAT IN THIS MEAT-FREE OPTION

Ordered from uber eats this evening, take away the £4 delivery I paid £20. For a meal I'd value at about £10. It was ok. But not worth the money I'm afraid

Burger van type food at restaurants prices!

Don't bother with this place, it used to be great but the last few times I have ordered it has got worse and worse. Tonight over 2 hours wait on an expected 70min delivery time, I called after 90 mins and it still took (what is a 10 minute drive at most and the driver had "already left") nearly 40 minutes more for the food to arrive which was then barely even warm, disgusting almost cold chips and a dry tough burger bun, I will not be ordering from here again.

Absolutely appalling service, I ordered from here at 7pm, it said it was out for delivery at 7.50pm, at 8.45pm I called to get an update as my order had still not arrived, which they said the ‘wrong button must of been clicked but it’s now on its way’ , at 9.30pm I recalled again as no order still, to say it’s on its way after 2 times of being fobbed off with no order, 2 and half hours of waiting for nothing! Would not recommend, Very disappointed by this business.

AVOID! The hygiene there is disgusting the way they handle the food, is atrocious. When collecting my food staff were complaining of how ill they felt with corona, I can’t believe management would allow staff to work! If you care for your health and wellbeing DO NOT ORDER FROM THERE!

Had the brisket chips from here and they are AMAZING!! not greasy but really crispy and tasty.

Had the boss burger and the loaded brisket fries. The seasoning on the fries was class and the brisket topped it off lovely. Staff were super friendly, would highly recommend.

What ever has change in the last 6 months at bbq waterlooville. Change it back please. Cheaps were 100% reheated or stale. Burger bun was wet and they forgot drinks. Of which I have a credit note. 1st to read can have the drinks. Will not be going back in a hurry.

I did try and call the company the same night that I had my order delivered about a missing item but someone answered the phone and didn't speak so sent an email and still waiting for a return email about my missing item. The food was good bit customer service seems to be lacking

Lovely food shame about the absolute appalling customer service. Missing items - rang them up to be categorically called a liar by the girl on the end of the phone. Delivery driver then returns with some of the missing items - I call back to tell them some of the things have been delivered. No apology for calling me a liar and no offer to deliver our missing item, just told to contact Uber. Thankfully Uber customer service is a million times better. The girl on the phone has an utterly disgusting attitude and should be ashamed

60 quod for burger and fries for 5. Measly portion of mac and cheese. Food tasted good but very poor value for money

I’ve eaten here a couple of times. Once when it first opened and the food was amazing. Then again recently and I was so disappointed. I can’t fault the chips… they were amazing both times. However I recently ordered the crispy chicken burger. It was soggy, limp and had been thrown together. The bread was wet and the chicken was tasteless. The cheese had gone like glue so was very unpleasant to eat. Really hope whatever changed between when they opened and now is restored!

Have to say the website and menu are very good. The food though is unfortunately a little underwhelming. The portion size was pretty small and the food was generally on the expensive side. The drinks options were again very limited, as (to me at least) a smoke house evokes images of big BBQ smokers and sticky ribs, washed down cold beers…so this is definitely something they could look to offer in the future. We both felt that the restaurant is definitely more set up for takeaway rather than sitting-in, which is a shame as there are infinite possibilities with an American BBQ smokehouse theme. Overall, for us, it scores low on cost, portion size and restaurant ambience, which is a shame as the concept is a good one.

Absolutely amazing!! We have had several orders from BBQ boss and have been impressed every time. Always perfect. May or may not have tried every burger on the menu and most fries. As a frequent customer would love some new options! But doesn’t stop us ordering

Tried this and was so impressed! Family of 4 all had different options and we all found them great (especially mine which was the vegetarian burger, really good!) We had desserts too which were unexpectedly awesome too (with the vegan chocolate raspberry 10/10). The Waterlooville manager was also super helpful after an online ordering problem. We’ll definitely order again.

Just been there for a i store pick up. Staff were really friendly there was a guy called Connor and two other girls. Food was really good 👍🏻

Meat and Fry's nice and everything in the burger as in the additions nice except the burger itself it was obviously a very cheap frozen patty that really let the whole thing down and for the price of almost £12 for a burger and the fact that they are a BBQ and meat place well very disappointed to say the least

Please be aware this review is not a complete negative of BBQ Boss, it is one of the best places out there that I’ve tried and every business has a bad day but I’m going to lay down my negative experience to hopefully get my issues improved on, I ordered a meal 50 minutes before closing I was told it would be sixty minutes, my order was placed at about 21:00and it came at approximately 22:35, so an extra 25 minutes wait not the end of the world as I guessed it was near closing and probably had a lot of orders my burger was perfect and to the standard I expect from BBQ boss but my fries where barely warm and tasted funky, not typical with them, they also had forgotten my straw for the milkshake I paid for which happens often, and is often the only negative of ordering with them. Overall my experiences with BBQ boss is often nothing but positive but tonight I felt they let themselves down.

Ordered on JustEat for my burger to come with no cheese and it came with cheese. Called them up and they really couldn’t care less and just said nothing they can do, they can offer a free burger with our next order but that’s it because we ordered through JustEat (which makes no sense because it was them who messed the order up not JustEat). Not sure how they think that’s okay that I now have no dinner. Will not be ordering again.

Something different but clean and great food

Ordered through Uber eats… delivery said it was on its way. Now the shop is closed. I only ordered three drinks so didn’t think it would take nearly an hour to deliver. Never be using this takeaway again. AVOID! Still no order. Wish I read the bad reviews first, it’s very clear this take away is rubbish

Just moved to the area!! Nice food like burger van style!... arrived hot and early, only down point cans of drink where warm not to much of a biggie and would be amazing to be able to add onion to the burgers and a tad more sauce but that's just preference 👌😍

Customer service excellent dealing with my complaint relating to just eat and their poor service of forgetting how to deliver food. Bbq boss apologised and refunded me immediately with a credit voucher which I will look forward to using. Recommend restaurant but go and collect yourself instead of giving just eat business

Portion sizes random and sporadic, put into sweaty packaging, awful food, when I called was just told on the phone "OK, and?". Awful awful service, will never return!

This is by far the worst experience I have ever had with any takeaway or restaurant... Food arrive 2 hours after order (an hour AFTER the delivery time given) and when arrived was genuinely Stone cold and tasted shockingly bad at best. When called they disconnected the phone line as it was 9.30 by the time we had waited an hour and a half so we couldn't even call.. disgraceful If you're considering ordering from here DONT I want a full refund

Ordered twice from here now both times food has been delivered hot and very tasty both times only negative is they forget the straws second time but mistakes happen, food is reasonably priced and discounts are available on the website they do their own delivery so you can cut out the middleman service and actually get a secured delivery if something goes wrong very happy.

Bbq brisket was good, bbq wings were good but should be an option for only bbq sauce or with ranch and loaded salsa fries were nice. Wouldn’t have been very affordable without the Bogof Monday deal. 1st time trying using Havant and Waterlooville Eats website, website didn’t update on the progress of the order but it did arrive on time.

After reading the positive reviews, I decided to order from BBQ Boss for the first time through Uber Eats - unfortunately I was extremely disappointed. Shortly after ordering, I received a notification to say that the milkshake I had ordered was not available, and I was asked to choose a new one. Despite choosing a different milkshake, it was not delivered, but I was still charged for it. Although both the burger and mac and cheese did taste reasonable, they were barely warm. The ranch, cheese & bacon fries were absolutely stone cold and mostly inedible.

Food was well salty 🧂 😐 😕 😒 Hope next time will be customer choice

EDIT - Had a problem with my order and made a previous review which was responded to and I appreciate that. Had a fab meal last night as my final take away before a harsh diet! Was a good choice, can’t be the classic boss. Have never had a burger like it. Now to resit the cravings!!

Really disappointed by portion size and quality, along with missing ingredients... dirty fries could only have been a handful of chips which were lukewarm and soggy. As wings with hot sauce were £9 for 8 I was expecting high quality, but got little cheap breaded wings without a drop of hot sauce on them, could have got the same for 1/3 of the price from a kebab shop... hot dog was missing onions, burger was supposed to have garlic mayo and jalapenos but didn't have either. The brisket was okay but a bit dry and again, quite a small portion for the price. Was happy to pay a bit more for something different but am gutted by quality of food and lack of care with preparation

Placed an order via Deliveroo, took my money, said it would be delivered with in 30 mins, 1hour later I made a call to find out where my food was, no one would pick up so I drove to the restaurant only to find out they are closed. Not ideal

After looking at previous reviews and speaking to another branch this is not the first time this has happened! Ordered food at 08:30 and it’s now 22:00 still no food has arrived, I have also called multiple times and no answer , I ordered via Uber eats , no doubt they will Answer tomorrow and say ‘we did not see your order’ multiple phone calls and no answer they are clearly messing people Around tonight it’s so Unfair! I will never order from here again and now have the stress to feed my family and try to get my money back some how!

Well tasty! Highly recommended best burger in the area. Delivered early. Truffle burger OMG sooo good. Note: Just-eat was cheaper to purchase the meal rather than foodbooking.com (directed from BBQ Boss website).
